According to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, the Twins have acquired starting pitcher Dean Kremer from the Baltimore Orioles. The Twins are sending outfield prospect Jhonmardo Reyes in return. Kremer is owed $5.75M this season and is controllable via arbitration for 2027.
Kremer has struggled this season to a 6.50 ERA/6.24 FIP in seven starts this year, but has a long track record as a reliable starter. Chivas at times dominated but were only able to get a 1-1 tie against Puebla. Chivas was the better side from the start but their scoring troubles continued as they were only able to get a single goal against a Puebla side that looked to defend and counter from the start, giving away most possession. Both teams are going to the Leagues Cup before returning to Liga MX. Puebla will travel to Pachuca in their return while Chivas plays against Santos in Torreon.
The 1st half started with Chivas coming out with their best 11 including Brian Gutierrez from the start. Armando Gonzalez got into the area but his right footed shot would go wide. Roberto Alvarado got off a great left footed shot that was blocked by Puebla's goalkeeper, Ricardo Gutierrez. He would leave the ball there for Gonzalez go get a close range header but Gutierrez made a fantastic save to stop him from a sure goal. Gonzalez got into the area and his left footed shot was blocked by Gutierrez but it bounced off Juan Pablo Vargas and looked like it was going to be an own goal but it hit the post. Chivas was completely dominating the match but the score remained scoreless. Against the run of play, Emiliano Gomez got into the area and get past a defender before getting off a left footed shot that Chivas' goalkeeper Raul Rangel blocked but left there for Eduardo Mustre to get off a left footed shot in the net to score and give Puebla the surprising 1-0 lead. It was the first real chance for the home side and it was a bad mistake from Rangel to give up the lead. From outside the area, Ruben Gonzalez got off a right footed shot that went wide. BEIJING, July 31 (Reuters) - Chinese military researchers have used outputs from leading U.S. artificial intelligence models developed by OpenAI and Anthropic to train domestic AI systems to advance China's defence capabilities, according to a Reuters review of more than 80 Chinese academic papers and patents.
The previously unreported findings offer a rare glimpse into how military and security-linked institutions in China are leveraging cutting-edge U.S. AI models as a shortcut to developing specialised systems of their own, despite Washington's efforts to restrict Beijing's access to advanced chips and other strategic technologies.
The documents show widespread use of a technique known as "model distillation," in which outputs from a powerful AI system are used to train smaller, specialised models that can be deployed locally without the enormous computing requirements needed to build frontier AI systems from scratch.
Reuters' review, which included research compiled by the Washington-based Jamestown Foundation and shared exclusively with the news agency, showed distillation is widely used by researchers linked to the People's Liberation Army and other military institutions.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight Robert Valentin returns to action this weekend against hometown fighter Dusko Todorovic on the UFC Belgrade main card, which goes down Sat., Aug. 1, 2026, inside Belgrade Arena in Belgrade, Serbia.
And for the first time in a while, Valentin sounds like himself again.

ESPN formally acquired NFL Network on April 1, and starting July 30 the network is available directly to ESPN subscribers.
On Thursday, ESPN announced that NFL Network programming is now available to all ESPN subscribers with access to the Unlimited tier of the ESPN app. That now includes most major cable, satellite, and virtual pay-TV distributors after YouTube TV subscribers gained access to Unlimited earlier this week. It also means that anyone who purchases ESPN Unlimited directly or in one of Disney's bundled streaming offerings can now access NFL Network content at no additional charge.
The inclusion of NFL Network within ESPN Unlimited means subscribers will now be able to access NFL Network's seven exclusive regular-season games, five of which are part of the league's International Series with the other two being a doubleheader in Week 16, directly within the ESPN app. NFL Network will also air 19 preseason games next month, which will also be available along with the channel's usual daily live programming like Good Morning Football and The Insiders.
Thursday's launch marks the final major step in what has been an exceedingly quick merging of operations for ESPN and NFL Network. After the acquisition was announced last summer, several reports indicated the formal combination would take a minimum of one year, but possibly two years, to receive the requisite regulatory approvals. Instead, the deal was approved by federal regulators in February, merely six months after it was announced. By April, NFL Network was under ESPN control. And now, NFL Network has been fully integrated into ESPN's platforms.
Whatever the circumstances behind the fast-tracked approval were, ESPN has to be thrilled with the timeline. NFL Network is now fully under its purview and available to ESPN subscribers in the same season ESPN is set to air its first-ever Super Bowl broadcast.

Scale AI announced Thursday that its board of directors has appointed Francis deSouza as chief executive officer, effective Aug. 10, 2026. At Google Cloud, deSouza held the roles of chief operating officer and president of security products before taking on the CEO position at Scale.
Before joining Google Cloud, deSouza served as president and CEO of Illumina, a publicly traded genomics company, where the company's revenue grew to more than $4.5 billion and its operations expanded across more than 150 countries, Scale said. His earlier career included a stint as president of products and services at Symantec, and he founded two startups that Microsoft and Symantec each went on to acquire. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT.
deSouza replaces Jason Droege, who has led Scale as interim CEO since June 2025. Droege will work with deSouza over the coming months to ****** ist with the transition, the company said.
"Scale sits at a rare intersection of frontier model development and real-world deployment, and the opportunity for continued growth and success is enormous," deSouza said in a statement. "My focus will be getting Scale's solutions into more businesses and governments, delivering the best data for AI labs, and showing our value through provable outcomes."
Scale AI founder Alexandr ****** , who now serves as chairman of the board, said in a statement that deSouza "has led and scaled complex, technical businesses, and understands what it takes to serve both enterprises and governments at the highest level of trust and reliability."

CEUTA, Spain (AP) — Thousands of migrants streamed into the tiny Spanish territory of Ceuta from Morocco on Thursday, prompting local officials to call on Spain to declare a national emergency and send the army to restore the frontier.
Spain's interior ministry said it would guarantee the safety of citizens and the integrity of the nation's border, but that the government could not declare a national emergency over migration concerns.
Video footage showed crowds of people, mainly Moroccans, walking around the breakwaters at Tarajal beach onto local roads. The Oklahoma Sooners went 6-7 in 2022, the first year of the Brent Venables era. Then, OU went 10-3 in 2023. However, a regression in 2024 led to another 6-7 mark on the head coach's record. Then, the Sooners bounced back with another 10-3 season in 2025, making it to the College Football Playoff for the first time under Venables' watch.

Barclays Women's Super League fixtures for the 2026-27 season have finally been released.
The schedule is always published later than many supporters would like because a number of clubs share stadiums with men's teams. The league therefore has to wait until the fixture lists for the top five tiers of the men's game have been finalised before confirming dates.
It should be a slightly less congested campaign for ***** nal than last season. The club are not involved in the FIFA Women's Champions Cup, avoiding a trip to Miami, while there is no Subway Players' Cup either, as clubs competing in the UEFA Women's Champions League are exempt on player welfare grounds.
The previous format, which awarded Champions League clubs a bye to the quarter-finals, provided a significant advantage. The fact that only ***** nal, Chelsea and Manchester City have ever won the competition suggests that format may not have helped competitive balance. With none of those three clubs involved this season, a new name will be added to the trophy.
