Digital Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE:DLR) announced the opening of its 6.4-megawatt NBO2 data center in Nairobi on September 7, expanding the campus alongside NBO1. The opening coincides with subsidiary iColo's transition to the parent's brand in Kenya and Mozambique.
The attraction extends beyond additional server ****** e. Customers can access the campus's community of more than 100 networks, two internet exchanges and a satellite teleport, which connects terrestrial networks with satellite services. These are connectivity options, not a disclosure of NBO2's leased capacity or customer count.
For Digital Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE:DLR), the opportunity is to turn that concentration of networks into recurring customer relationships. The opening announcement did not disclose development cost, pre-leasing, occupancy, or expected revenue, leaving the financial payoff unresolved.
Interconnection can give customers a reason to choose a facility beyond price. Physical connections between customers and network providers can reduce latency and support more reliable data exchange. For businesses serving several markets, having carriers and partners close together can simplify how traffic moves between them.
That creates a potential network effect for Digital Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE:DLR). More useful connections can attract additional customers, making the location more valuable to others. Once customers build several connections into their operations, relocating can become more disruptive. The resulting retention advantage could support recurring revenue, although it remains an investment thesis rather than a demonstrated NBO2 result.

Sept. 8 (UPI) -- The Philadelphia 76ers and Philadelphia Flyers released initial renderings of their new arena, which is to open in 2030 in South Philadelphia.
The arena also will host the inaugural season that year of the city's WNBA team. Its construction marks the largest fully privately funded project in Philadelphia history. An early estimate put the cost at $1.3 billion.
Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, which owns the 76ers, and Comcast Spectacor, which owns the Flyers and Xfinity Mobile Arena, are 50-50 partners in the new arena. Comcast will own the naming rights.
"This privately funded arena will be the home to moments and memories that define this city for generations," 76ers co-owner Josh Harris said.
"We ... look forward to partnering with Mayor Cherelle Parker and council President Kenyatta Johnson to transform a site rich with history, while creating thousands of jobs, driving lasting economic impact and delivering an arena that honors the deep sports and entertainment culture of the city.

Kenya's government sought to reassure foreign traders that they have legal protection to operate in the country after President William Ruto raised doubts over their status in East Africa's biggest economy. Ruto reportedly ordered authorities to begin shutting down foreign-owned businesses from Sept. 7 as part of a move to restrict small-scale retail to Kenyans. However, the principal secretary for foreign affairs on Sunday said the president's comments related to a debate about proposed employment legislation.
Ruto reportedly made the remarks last week, days before ordering Tata Chemicals to leave the country, accusing it of failing to create jobs and process minerals locally.
The president, who will seek a second term in a poll next August, has increasingly focused on employment and wealth creation in his reelection pitch. He took office four years ago, after an election campaign in which he vowed to improve the lives of the poorest Kenyans. But his popularity plummeted amid tax hikes that prompted street protests.

A runner-up last year in the Sydney Marathon, Ethiopian Addisu Gobena won the event on Saturday, emerging from a field that featured the 2025 winner, fellow Ethiopian Hailemaryam Kiros, and the reigning world champion, Tanzania's Alphonce Simbu.
Gobena smashed Kiros' course record of 2:06:06 with a time of 2:04:42.
Although Simbu was taken down, the 2025 world champion on the women's side, Kenya's Peres Jepchirchir, wasn't defeated in Australia. Jepchirchir, a 2021 Olympic gold medalist, finished just nine seconds shy of the course record, clocking in at 2:18:31.
In its second year as a World Marathon major — there are currently seven (the others are Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York City) — the Sydney Marathon hosted around 40,000 expected runners who raced from North Sydney, across the Sydney Harbor Bridge and to the finish line, which was located in front of the city's iconic Opera House.
The Sydney Marathon marked the fourth event on this year's Marathon Major calendar. With a more demanding course than some of the majors, there was once again plenty of intrigue in Sydney. Last year, Kiros finished first among the men, while Sifan Hassan, a three-time Olympic gold medalist representing the Netherlands, took home the women's in 2:18:22. She didn't take part in Saturday's race, however.

Sabastian Sawe has been forced to pull out of another tilt at a sub-two-hour marathon with injury forcing his withdrawal from the Berlin Marathon.
The Kenyan had been due to defend his ***** le in Germany on 27 September in his return to action after smashing the marathon world record in London in April.
The 31-year-old had been tipped to perhaps run even faster than the 1:59:30 he recorded then, with Berlin noted as one of the fastest 26.2-mile courses on the circuit.
But an unspecified issue has meant Sawe has been denied the chance to race.
"It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you I am forced to withdraw from the BMW Berlin Marathon due to an injury," Sawe said in a statement.

Ohio State football is finally back, and after months of offseason storylines, roster debates and predictions, it is officially time to talk about the games.
Episode 32 of Off-Script Ohio kicks off the 2026 season by breaking down Ohio State's seven captains. Brandon Inniss, Julian Sayin, Austin Siereveld, Jeremiah Smith, Kenyatta Jackson, Payton Pierce and Jaylen McClain.
The guys also discuss Inniss earning the Block O jersey and what the new leadership group says about this year's team. A mix of veteran offensive stars, a defensive anchor replacing three first-round picks, and a receiver who's already the face of the program before he's even entered started his junior season.
From there, Cole and Joey make their official season predictions, with both landing at 11-1.
The biggest part of the episode is a game-by-game breakdown of the schedule. Ball State, Kent State, Illinois, Maryland and Northwestern feel like the safest wins, while Iowa and Nebraska present tougher road challenges. Then come the games that could define the season. Texas, Indiana, USC, Oregon and Michigan, five matchups the guys treat as legitimate toss-ups or, at best, likely wins that will still require the Buckeyes' best football to come out on top.

Gary Owen says he expects to be "100% faithful" to his new wife, Brianna Johnson, after openly acknowledging that he cheated during his nearly 18-year marriage to Kenya Duke.
During a VladTV interview, the 52-year-old comedian said the biggest difference between his two marriages is intimacy. Owen claimed that he and Duke had ****** only three times during the final six years of their marriage and said the prolonged distance between them contributed to his past infidelity.
Owen stressed that he was not trying to criticize Duke, describing the lack of intimacy as mutual and saying they had effectively become roommates. He contrasted that experience with his relationship with Johnson, saying he now feels both physically and emotionally connected to his spouse and looks forward to returning home to her.
Owen and Johnson married at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston on March 7 after welcoming twin sons Royal and Rome in July 2023. Owen and Duke married in 2003 and separated in 2021 after nearly 18 years together. They share two adult children, Austin and Kennedy.
When DJ Vlad asked whether he planned to remain faithful in his second marriage, Owen said he expected "to be 100% faithful" and immediately contrasted his relationship with Johnson with the final years of his marriage to Duke.

Three former Iowa State greats came to the 54th annual ASICS Falmouth Road Race seeking a win and possibly a course record on Sunday, Aug. 16.
They were blocked by Eritrean running star Habtom Samuel.
Samuel broke Wesley Kiptoo's course record at Falmouth, Massachusetts, by holding off 2019 Cyclone NCAA cross country champion Edwin Kurgat of Kenya. Samuel ran 30:53 to become the first runner to ever break 31 minutes for the 7-mile distance. Kurgat, 30, of Kenya settled for second in 31:04, which also eclipsed Kiptoo's shared record of 31:08 from 2023.
Kurgat leads off this edition of the WEEKEND UPDATE of the best performances by Iowa-based collegiate and post collegiate distance runners and triathletes.
Samuel, 22, and Kurgat broke away from a strong field by mile 5, but the five-time NCAA champion pulled away from the Under Armour Dark Sky Distance athlete based in Flagstaff, Arizona, in his Falmouth debut.

Kenya Moore is officially heading back to the Miss USA stage more than three decades after winning the crown.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum has been confirmed as a co-host of the Miss USA 75th Diamond Celebration, airing live Thursday, Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. Moore will share hosting duties with Beverly Hills, 90210 and Sharknado star Ian Ziering for the two-hour event at Miami's Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.
COMPLEX SHOP: Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. Uncover what's next. Buy. Collect. Obsess.
Miss USA announced the pair on Instagram after initially teasing Moore's involvement without naming her. "You guessed right! Meet the hosts of the historic 75th Diamond Celebration of MISS USA, kenya and ianziering!" the organization wrote in its follow-up post. "The countdown to Miami is officially ON, and we can't wait to celebrate 75 years of Miss USA with you."
The confirmation clears up earlier reports that Moore was merely being eyed for the job. Miss USA had first posted a Reel describing a mystery co-host as a former winner who parlayed her crown into a lengthy reality television career. "Now she's coming back to the Miss USA stage to co-host the 75th Diamond Celebration," the organization teased. The clues quickly pointed to Moore before Miss USA made her participation official.

Germany's Amanal Petros won the European marathon ******* le for the first time on Sunday, taking gold in Birmingham in a championship record of 2 hours 9 minutes and 11 seconds.
But the world silver medallist found the going tough in England's second city, despite a dominant performance after a solo run of almost 20 kilometres. He finished ahead of Italy's Pietro Riva (2:09:18) and Gashau Ayale (2:09:21) of Israel.
"This course was terrible. It hurts everywhere. I think I have to go to the physio straight away. My joints really hurt," Petros told German broadcaster ARD.
The hilly, twisty course was a "huge challenge," added the winner, who prepared at an altitude of 2,500 metres in Kenya.
Petros won Germany's fifth gold medal at these European Athletics Championships, which end later on Sunday.

Sandwiched between Big Ten media days and the start of the college football season are not only preseason camp at Ohio State, but also most of the preseason watch lists for all the awards are released.
We've heard from quite a few of the organizations that release these sorts of things, and almost always, there will be a little scarlet and gray flair to them, and that's exactly what we are seeing. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is handed out by the Football Writers ****** ociation of America to the best defensive player in college football annually, and two Ohio State players were among the names appearing on its preseason watch list.
Defensive back Jaylen McClain and defensive end Kenyatta Jackson Jr. were the two Buckeyes who made the cut, and for good reason. McClain has a tremendous upside and is getting a lot of preseason buzz for what he might mean for the back end of the OSU defense this year. He wasn't one of the main stars of the defense last year but has experienced playing time and should be one of the main playmakers in 2026.
It was welcome news when Jackson decided to come back for one more season rather than enter the NFL draft. He'll be counted on to come off the edge as a pass rusher and run stopper and was a handful toward the tail end of the season. He only tallied 16 tackles, including 6.5 sacks officially, but he was consistently getting into the backfield last year.
Only two Ohio State players have won the Bronko Nagurski. James Laurinaitis (2006) and Chase Young (2019) took it home despite the Trophy being around since 1993. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy will be announced during an awards banquet on December 7.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup wrapped last month, and with it went 39 days of the kind of moments that make a tournament unforgettable: a teenage phenom stealing highlight reels with his flair, a scrappy underdog nation refusing to go home, a 40-year-old goalkeeper turning in the performance of his career, a nine-figure transfer rumor before the confetti had even settled. For four weeks, the entire sports world organized itself around this single competition. But the appetite for those storylines didn't end when the final whistle blew, and it doesn't need a men's tournament to be satisfied. Right now, in stadiums and arenas across the world, women's sports are producing the exact same arcs: breakout stars, Cinderella runs, veteran redemption stories, record-breaking numbers, and transfer fees rewriting what the sport is worth. They're just not getting the same attention. Here are five World Cup moments and the women's sports stories playing out in real time that deserve to be next on your watchlist.

Liked Lamine Yamal's flair? Watch Morocco's Atlas Lionesses at WAFCON.
Yamal spent this World Cup as one of the most-watched players on the planet, a teenager with more than 50 million Instagram followers turning every touch into a moment. Morocco is hosting the Women's Africa Cup of Nations for a third straight edition, running through August 16 across Rabat and Casablanca, and the Atlas Lionesses have opened their campaign in commanding form. They beat Kenya 4-0 to open the tournament, then beat Algeria 1-0 to move to two wins from two matches, sitting atop Group A with five goals scored and none conceded. The breakout to watch is Barcelona Femení prospect Kautar Azraf, flagged by CAF as one of the country's brightest young talents ahead of her first senior call-up, the same "unproven teenager announces herself on the biggest stage" arc that made Yamal a global name this summer.
Liked Cape Verde's underdog run? Watch WAFCON's debutant nations.
Cape Verde's men's team was one of the World Cup's most beloved stories, a nation of fewer than 600,000 people holding its own against the sport's giants. Their women's game has its own version unfolding right now. Cape Verde and Malawi are both playing in their first-ever Women's AFCON this year

When Saroya Tinker began considering where the Women of Colour Hockey Collective should hold its first international clinic to promote the sport and distribute free equipment, one destination stood out: Jamaica.
Here was an opportunity to give back for the Canadian-born Tinker and many of her WCHC members who have ancestral ties to the Caribbean nation. They did so by holding a three-day series of clinics that attracted about 150 Jamaican girls and boys in the nation's capital of Kingston last weekend.
"A lot of gratitude. I mean very emotional," Tinker said on Friday. "Just looking back and realizing that we got to impact a lot of our roots, and giving back to our community and introducing a game that we love, and we hope they'll love as much as we do."
Tinker is a former pro hockey player who has turned to broadcasting, and helped co-found what was then called the Black Girl Hockey Club Canada, and rebranded to the WCHC last year. The collective's objective is making hockey more accessible to women and girls of color, and backed by the Professional Women's Hockey League.
After holding clinics and offering programs in Canada, the WCHC decided to broaden its reach especially after hosting three girls from Kenya a year ago. The collective members include women of color playing at the collegiate and pro levels, with 15 making the trip to Jamaica, including Canadian national team and PWHL Vancouver defender Sophie Jaques,

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday officially unveiled the 12 host venues for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027, confirming the cities across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia that will stage the 50-over showpiece when it returns to Africa for the first time in 24 years.

The announcement was made during a grand ceremony in Johannesburg, where the ICC also revealed the tournament's official brand identity, 'Three Nations, One Heartbeat', symbolising the shared spirit of optimism, diversity and unity among the three co-hosts.

The 14th edition of the World Cup will feature 57 matches and 14 teams, with eight cities in South Africa, three in Zimbabwe, and Namibia's capital Windhoek selected as host venues.

The tournament marks Africa's first Men's ODI World Cup since the 2003 edition, which was jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya.
ICC chairman Jay Shah described the venue announcement as a major milestone on the road to the global tournament.

"This marks an exciting milestone on the road to the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027. The unveiling of the host cities and the tournament brand signals the start of a journey that will unite fans around the world and build anticipation for one of our sport's biggest global events," he said.

Shah also highlighted the significance of bringing cricket's flagship ODI tournament back to Africa.

"The return of this prestigious tournament to Africa after 24 years is a landmark moment for cricket. We are confident that South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will deliver an unforgettable event, showcasing the warmth, passion and rich diversity that make this region truly unique," he added.

ICC chief executive Sanjog Gupta said the event would celebrate both cricket and the continent's unique identity.

"The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup represents the legacy and spectacle of Limited Overs Cricket," he said. "It also marks the return of the pinnacle event to Africa after more than two decades and will celebrate a continent defined by extraordinary people, vibrant cultures, breathtaking experiences and deep love for Sport."

Gupta added that the tournament's vibrant branding reflects the energy of the host nations while inspiring future generations of fans.
The 2027 edition will be built around the African philosophy of 'Ubuntu' — "I am, because we are" — and the campaign theme 'Make the Circle Bigger', celebrating compassion, togetherness and cultural diversity across the region's 29 officially recognised languages.

The tournament logo draws inspiration from the traditional African wire bowl, while its colour palette includes shades such as Zimbabwe Chilli, African Root, Fynbos Pop, Namib Dune, Harare Dawn and Two Oceans.

The 2027 edition will feature a three-stage competition format.

It will feature 57 matches and a three-stage format designed to increase competitiveness. Teams ranked 12th to 14th will first compete in a Super Series, with the winner

June 2021 was the last time distance running legend and world record-holder Faith Kipyegon lost at either the mile or 1,500 meters.
Over five years later at the Prefontaine Classic in front of 12,452 spectators at Hayward Field, American Nikki Hiltz took down the legend in the women's mile race on the Fourth of July in 4 minutes, 17.49 seconds.
Kipyegon finished third in 4:17.80 while fellow Kenyan Dorcus Ewoi was second in 4:17.62 for a personal best.
Kipyegon, who typically rushes out to the front and has dominated opponents and put races away with more than a lap to go in the past, uncharacteristically ran a much-slower pace Saturday in Eugene.
Hiltz, who got the vibe that Kipyegon would do that very thing after her pre-race press conference, took advantage of the rare opportunity to outkick her down the homestretch to secure the stunning upset.

From now until preseason camp starts in August, Land-Grant Holy Land will be writing articles around a different theme every week. This week is all about the most important questions yet unanswered for the season. You can catch up on all of the Theme Week content and our ”Burning Questions” articles here.
If there’s one man to be confident in going into the 2026 Season, it’s the Buckeyes’ defensive coordinator Matt Patricia. Admittedly, I didn’t think I would feel this way about him when he was hired in the Winter of 2025. But after what Patricia did last year with the Buckeyes’ defense, following tremendous turnover from that great 2024 National Championship defense, Patricia and the Buckeyes’ defense are poised to answer the question of whether they will be the force they’ve been for the last two seasons.
There’s still talent on this defense. Much like last year, it’s going to be about guys from the previous season stepping into larger roles. We saw those guys last year step into those larger roles and thrive. It’s a confidence boost that can happen again this season.
Kenyatta Jackson Jr., Beau Atkinson, Eddrick Houston, Payton Pierce, Jermaine Mathews Jr., and Devin Sanchez; those are household names. That’s a good place to start in keeping this defense atop the college football ranks.
The one question within this burning question is: Who is that star player the Buckeyes’ defense can build around? For the last two seasons, that was Caleb Downs. But it wasn’t just him. Heck, Downs wasn’t even the first Buckeye defensive player drafted this past April. He was the third. That tells you how great the whole Buckeyes’ defense was and how deep they were.

Four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome has brought an end to his illustrious career in professional cycling.
The 41-year-old British rider has not raced since a serious crash in August 2025 when he collided head-on with a road sign at more than 30mph and suffered five broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a lumbar vertebrae fracture.
Froome's wife later said doctors discovered a pericardial rupture - an injury where the sac that surrounds the heart is torn - during surgery and were able to repair it.
"Unfortunately, there was that crash last summer - that was not the way I wanted it to end. But even then, I knew it was over," Froome told Belgian broadcaster Sporza.
The Kenyan-born rider retires as one of the most decorated cyclists in history, winning seven Grand Tours with Team Sky (now Team Ineos).

Jun. 19—Less than a week after winning a national ***** le in a Washington State uniform, Rosemary Longisa has joined a new program.

Longisa is following coach Laura Harmon, who was announced Wednesday as Iowa State's new cross country head coach and ***** istant track coach after spending the last four seasons in a similar role at WSU.
Longisa, a sophomore from Kenya, was the national runner-up in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Championships earlier this year, then set the top time among all women's runners in the country in the outdoor 1,500 this spring — and the second-fastest time in the event in NCAA women's history — before winning the national championship in the race Saturday at the NCAA finals in Eugene.

Jun. 19—There are few better role models in track and field than Kenya's Faith Kipyegon.
The 32-year-old women's 1,500-meter and mile world record holder owns three Olympic gold medals and five World Championship golds.
So when Washington State sophomore Rosemary Longisa, who on Saturday won the women's 1,500 national championship at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Oregon's Hayward Field in Eugene, heard that Kipyegon would be in Eugene, Ore., last summer — she had to be there.
Twice before, Longisa said, she had come close to meeting her fellow Kenyan. This time, Longisa, with the help of her friend and former teammate Maya McCabe, made a sign that read "I came from Kenya to meet Faith and Athing (Mu-Nikolayev), from Rozzy Longisa, a future 800m/1500m star and big fan of you."
The sign got the attention of one of Kipyegon's ***** ociates on that July, 2025 day, Longisa said.

NAIROBI, June 17 (Reuters) - Kenya has barred delegates from Taiwan from attending an international conference on oceans in ‌the east African country under pressure from China, Taiwan's ‌government said.
China claims democratically governed Taiwan as its own territory and opposes any treatment of the island as a sovereign state. Taiwan's government rejects Beijing's sovereignty claims.
Visas issued to Taiwanese scientists were revoked at the last minute, the Ocean Affairs Council (OAC), a Taiwan government agency, ‌said in a statement posted on X on Tuesday, adding that some participants had their passports and phones confiscated for more than 20 hours.
Kenya's foreign ministry officials and the event organisers did not respond to requests for comment.
"They (Kenyan authorities) insisted on unilaterally distorting their so-called interpretation of "One China," expanding it without limit to ‌the point of blocking our people from attending the meeting," Taiwan's foreign minister, Lin Chia-lung, told reporters in Taipei on Wednesday.

The London Marathon will take place over two days as a one-off occurrence in 2027 with men’s, women’s and elite events spread across the weekend.
The 2026 edition was the site of multiple milestones, including Sabastian Sawe’s world record one hour, 59 minutes and 30 seconds in a race where both the Kenyan and Yomif Kejelcha of Ethiopia broke the two-hour barrier for the first time in history.
It also attracted a record 59,830 finishers, and more will have a chance to run the same course next year with 100,000 participants welcomed across the weekend of April 24 and 25, 2027.
London mayor Sadiq Khan said: “London is the sporting capital of the world and I am delighted that, for one year only in 2027, the world famous TCS London Marathon will expand into a two-day event.
“This unique, one-off double will allow a record 100,000 participants to take part across the two days – creating the largest fundraising moment in UK sporting history and supporting the work of so many incredible charities.

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — The World Cup referee from Somalia who was denied entry to the United States after arriving in Miami and subsequently cut from the tournament by FIFA was set to make history for his country.
Omar Artan was going to be the first referee from Somalia to officiate at a World Cup after making FIFA’s final list for the tournament, which was announced two months ago. He is one of Africa’s top referees and was named the continent’s best male referee in 2025.
He was denied entry at Miami International Airport on Saturday over “vetting concerns,” U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a statement without giving details of those concerns. Artan was issued a visa to travel to the U.S. last week, according to the Somalia Embassy in Kenya that processed it.
Andrew Giuliani, the executive director of the White House FIFA Task Force, said Tuesday the referee was denied admittance for “very good reason” but also declined to go into details.
Later Tuesday, a U.S. official said the referee was refused admission due to “association with suspected members of terror organizations.” The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss a matter that is covered by visa privacy laws.
