The 46-year-old star played a father confronting trauma alongside his young daughter. His character's struggle also pushed Tatum to reflect on his relationship with his daughter, Everly.
PEOPLE reported that Tatum discussed fatherhood during a TIFF Q&A. He played Damien, a father trying to help his eight-year-old daughter after a traumatic event. Damien encouraged his daughter to learn self-defense while his wife, Claire, took another approach. The role apparently mirrored Tatum's own instinct to protect Everly from life's harder moments.
"It's a really tough thing to tell the little being that you love more than anything," Tatum said during the Q&A. He admitted he once told Everly, "I'm just not okay right now." The actor explained that parents often want children to see them as invincible. "You always wanna be like the strongest person, like the Superman in their life," he said. "Sometimes you just can't."
Tatum shares Everly with ex-wife Jenna Dewan. The former couple welcomed her in 2013 before separating in 2018. He had also recently reflected on how quickly Everly grew up. During a January appearance on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, Tatum described returning from a two-week press trip.

European PE add-ons are stuck at decade highs for the obvious reason—sponsors playing it safe—but increasingly also because a consolidated platform is what enhances the chance to exit.
According to PitchBook's Q2 2026 European PE Breakdown, there were 2,121 add-on deals in H1 2026, reaching a decade high of 57.7% of the total European PE deal count. It's the third straight quarter the strategy has held near record levels.
Richard Damming, head of PE investments Europe at Schroders Capital, spoke with PitchBook News about why a consolidated platform may help secure an exit in the subdued market and how to create value in times of low financial leverage.

So I often find myself turning to successful writers who are candid about what it really takes to not only make a career out of writing, but to make a living. Sometimes those writers just happen to be bestselling novelists like Gillian McAllister.

But I didn't know how to do it: I had zero connections, zero money, and rent to pay, so I became a lawyer, which I practiced and enjoyed for a long time. Though fiction was always in the background: I had a blog which was essentially writing practice for me, and three or for half-started manuscripts on a very old MacBook with a worn-out E key.

Hoda Kotb's unusually emotional encounter with a stranger on an airplane did not end when the flight landed. The former Today anchor now says she and the mystery man have recently started texting.
Kotb shared the update during her Aug. 21 return to Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, while immediately cautioning viewers not to read too much into it. "This is not a real love connection," she said before explaining how the story had unexpectedly continued.

At the 1,500 milligram weekly pivotal dose, about one in three patients was still alive at three years, roughly double the survival rate seen in retrospective **** yses of standard-of-care pembrolizumab in this population. Management ties that benefit to the drug's TGF-beta inhibition, which it says drives tumor penetration and immune cell infiltration rather than blocking a single pathway. Overall survival nearly doubled against the standard of care while the safety profile stayed consistent, the company said.
Execution on the pivotal Phase III FORTIFI-HN01 study has kept pace. Bicara says it is on track for substantial enrollment by the end of 2026, with more than 200 sites now active, positioning the trial for a mid-2027 interim readout that could open the door to accelerated approval. The company also launched FORTIFI-FLEX, a study of an every-three-week maintenance dose built on encouraging results from an exploratory every-two-week cohort shown earlier this year, with data targeted for the time of any U.S. approval decision. While taping the "Today" show on Monday, Aug. 17, the 47-year-old co-anchor announced that his mom, Betty Jo Melvin, "rang the bell" to celebrate the end of her cancer treatment. He shared the news after Jenna Bush Hager's "Morning Boost" segment showed a woman's granddaughter surprising her on her final day of chemotherapy.

During her conversation with Esquire, Ortega, now 23, was asked what "rookie mistake you made on your first set," which prompted her to recall her strict approach to work.
"I really had it going for me as a child 'cause I can't think of one mistake I made. Is that a terrible thing to say?" Ortega told the outlet. "I feel like I make mistakes now all the time, but as a child, I was so grateful and so excited to be there that my game face was on."

The 53-year-old star, who captured hearts as receptionist Dawn Tinsley in the original BBC hit The Office, revealed on Instagram that she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer 18 months ago.
Explaining that the disease has spread to her spine, right hip, and ribs, Lucy stated that the cancer is incurable and it is now too late for chemotherapy.
Following her candid post, The Office co-creator Ricky reached out directly on social media to send his love alongside a host of fellow actors, including The Office US star Jenna Fischer and filmmaker Edgar Wright.
Ricky showed his support by leaving a heart emoji beneath the post. Jenna, 52, played Pam Beesly – the US counterpart to Lucy's character Dawn Tinsley – in the long-running American adaptation of The Office.

The Office star Jenna Fischer has shared a message of support for Lucy Davis after the British actor revealed that she has Stage 4 breast cancer.
Davis played receptionist Dawn Tinsley in the original British version of the sitcom, while Fischer played her U.S. counterpart, Pam Beesly, in the NBC adaptation.
In a post on Instagram, Davis said that she was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer a year and a half ago. She said the cancer is incurable and that it is "too late for chemo."
"Beautiful post. Love you lots," Fischer wrote in the comments. She also praised Davis for speaking about continuing to work following her diagnosis, adding, "Let's spread that message far and wide! How working is such a comfort!"
In 2024, Fischer revealed she had been diagnosed with Stage 1 triple-positive breast cancer a year earlier. After undergoing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, she announced she was "cancer-free."
