Dennis-Yarmouth (1-0-0) began its state **** le defense with a 6-1 victory in a non-league matchup with Scituate.
Leah Woodward, who was exceptional at handling the ball, tallied three goals and one **** ist. Aurora Quenneville added two goals, while Sammie Precourt recorded one goal. Jenna Richard anchored the defensive effort and had two **** ists. Avery Post had one **** ist.
In other high school sports action:
Nauset 2, Barnstable 1: It was a dramatic finish as the Warriors (2-0-0) scored with three minutes left in the game to break a one-all tie. All three goals were scored following halftime.
Emma Steenstra scored the only goal for the Redhawks (1-1-0) on an **** ist from Cate Buckler. Avery Croteau was strong defensively and had many defensive saves. Izzy Hill played well in goal and made eight saves.

The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox just keep winning.
With Friday's 2-0 win in eight innings over the Bourne Braves (10-9-3), the Red Sox improved their league-best mark to 19-2-1.
The Red Sox did their damage with pitching Friday. Starting pitcher Easton Teel (Oral Roberts) went five innings with no hits, no runs and two walks allowed. He struck out two batters. Connor Hamilton (Vanderbilt) followed with two innings, two hits allowed, one walk and two strikeouts. Peyton Rodgers (UC Irvine) then went one inning with one strikeout.
Avery Ortiz (Oklahoma State) was the only player on either team with two hits.
