HAMDEN - Arguably, no program in Connecticut has been more affected by college basketball's ever-changing NIL, revenue sharing, transfer portal, and eligibility rules than Quinnipiac men's basketball.
With the season approaching, the Bobcats have lost all five starters from last season either to transfers or to the ambiguity of the new fifth-year eligibility rule.
The five starters lost accounted for the majority of Quinnipiac's scoring and rebounding last year.
"I am not fond of the changes that have been made in the college game," coach Tom Pecora said. "I started coaching in the early 80s and you were thrilled to get a scholarship, meal money and a chance to travel somewhere outside of your region or your state. I think it would be great if you paid kids after they graduated. Motivate them to graduate even if they go to several schools."
Two-time first-team All-Metro forward Amarri Monroe transferred to Syracuse while Jaden Zimmerman left for Grand Canyon, Grant Randall moved on to Dayton and Spence Wewe is now at Hofstra.

Notre Dame is now 6-1 and ranked No. 4 in the AP Top 25 after a weird, wild, and controversial loss to the BYU Cougars. Yes, I think the Irish got hosed out of one final play, but none of that matters now. We saw 59 minutes and 59 seconds of football, and there are some things we learned.
Last week Boomer called Boubacar Traore a renaissance man, and he was absolutely right. This week… we got five plays out of Traore before he was ejected for targeting Bear Bachmeier on a late hit. Despite Notre Dame's depth at the position, the loss of Traore was massive for the Irish in the game —particularly in the first half when the defense was on its heels and needed better play up front to slow down what BYU was doing. The loss of Traore might very well be the essence of the full reason for Notre Dame's loss.
This second thing was supposed to be about Jonaz Walton and I went looking for snap counts. While the entire deal about Walton is valid and should be talked about after only getting 10 of the 81 snaps after rushing for 181 yards last week… the wide receiver situation might be the most heinous thing about the offense. On a night where Notre Dame's receivers couldn't get much separation from Cougar defenders, maybe they were gassed? The elevation was well over 5000 feet and Notre Dame only used 4 wide receivers all night. Jordan Faison, Micah Gilbert, and Jaden Greathouse were out there for almost every snap, and the fourth… well that was Mylan Graham with a whopping two snaps for the night.
For a good part of the first half, Notre Dame's defense didn't just play poorly — they looked confused. Presnap lineups and adjustments had several defenders running to the spot they were supposed to be, and BYU was snapping the ball before they got there. It looked very much like the Miami game last year, and some of that confusion led to slow and soft play. This, of course, is a Chris Ash problem and they made the proper adjustments at halftime to hold BYU to just 126 yards and 7 points in the final 29 minutes and 59 seconds of play. But… this is still a thing and will kill the Irish in a few weeks against Miami if it's not fixed for a full 59 minutes and 59 seconds — or do we play 60 minute games now?

PARIS — Receiving an invitation to the theater from Christian Louboutin during Paris Fashion Week, one can be **** ured to be in for a treat. Through his "Loubi Show" format, the shoe guru has repeatedly shown a knack for conjuring loud spectacles and enlisting a vast array of talents to collaborate with — and the latest installation staged at Théâtre du Châtelet here on Friday was no exception. The designer called on no less than Dita Von Teese to present his spring 2027 collection, centered on celebrating his iconic La Pigalle pump. Kai Cenat has already conquered the Twitch world, becoming the platform's most-subscribed streamer with over 21 million followers. On Saturday, Sept. 12, he made his official foray into fashion as his clothing label, Vivet, held its first-ever runway show at New York Fashion Week, which was attended by Ms. Lauryn Hill, Law Roach, and Jaden Smith.
The 24-year-old influencer livestreamed the show across his social media channels, bringing in close to 800,000 viewers from Twitch alone. He's accumulated his following from livestreams where he'd do everything from acting out comedic skits, playing video games, talking to his fans or interviewing A-list celebrities like LeBron James, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Kevin Hart and Ice Spice.

The energy outside Cipriani, in Lower Manhattan, across from the Charging Bull statue on Broadway, seemed conspicuously suspended in a different time. It was as if crossing the threshold into the Financial District sent me back a decade, to the genesis of this current generation's cultural aesthetic—to the lines at VFiles, the SoHo clothing store whose Howard St. storefront once served as epicenter of the nascent fusion of the worlds of streetwear, hip-hop, and high fashion. All of this was because Kai Cenat, the popular Twitch streamer and content creator, was making his runway debut. The fashion show for his brand Vivet's first collection drew a crowd of the current generation's innovators, giving a reminiscent feeling to the last time a popular figure came crashing through the gates of mainstream fashion.
In attendance that night were popular streamers like Jasontheween, Rakai, and Duke Dennis, alongside more traditional celebrity names: Jaden Smith, Luka Sabbat, Lauryn Hill (!). Popular fashion podcasters and journalists from the New York Times filtered through the crowd as well. It reminded me of the pre-pandemic days of fashion week pop-ups in the shadow of Ye's YZY Szn launches, when the crowds outside seemed as consequential as whoever had a seat inside. Social media had given a generation of streetwear obsessives and aspiring artists a way to build their own audiences, and fashion was beginning to accommodate them. At Cipriani, the streamers had brought another audience into the room.

Marion Harding and Highland kicked off the Mid Ohio Athletic Conference season with another instant classic.
Last year Highland survived a late rally by Marion Harding to win in overtime. This season it was the Presidents' turn to win a wild and close one in Week 4 action on Sept. 11.
Marion Harding's Jaden Jordan hauled in an 11-yard touchdown pass from Dez Feliciano with 12 seconds left to give the Prexies a 26-22 victory over the Scots.
The Presidents led 19-8 with eight seconds left in the third quarter, but Highland's Robby Schmidt engineered scoring drives capped by his runs of 15 and 20 yards to take a 22-19 lead with 5:35 to go.
Harding (3-1, 1-0) finished with 15 first downs and 365 total yards, while the Scots (1-3, 0-1) ended with 15 first downs and 307 yards.

Texas high school football season featured some marquee showdowns this weekend. The Week 2 schedule featured blockbuster games and also some equally notable final scores. Below are the top 25 Texas high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Sept. 6.
If the last two weekends proved anything, it's that Allen is back. Behind standout performances from 2029 QB Ty Snell and the entire Eagles defense, Allen has knocked off powerhouses Duncanville and DeSoto to open the season, 50-6. Snell passed for four TD on seven attempts, three of those scores going to fellow 2029 WR Zach Williams. Allen held a 28-0 lead at halftime with the defense setting a strong pace in this one.
North Crowley earned another statement victory in the early season — a 40-10 win over fellow Dallas Metroplex powerhouse Southlake Carroll. After the Dragons took a 7-6 lead early, the Panthers scored 21 unanswered points and cruised in the second half. North Texas commit G'Yrell Smith rushed for 96 yards on 11 touches, and QBs Jacob Torres and Jahzeel McCradic combined for two TD passes.
The defending state champs did not miss a beat in a physical tilt vs. Louisiana powerhouse John Curtis. The Mustangs came away with 27-17 win on the road at Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium in Lafayette — after adding two fourth-quarter scores and separating late in the contest. QB Kaleb Taylor threw a TD pass to Jaden Kendrick and Jemarkeus Houston ran for a 14-yard TD to deliver North Shore the impressiveo out-of-state win.
Guyer remained unbeaten on Friday night as the Wildcats notched their 200th program win. The outstanding Guyer defense featuring arguably the state's most talented group of defensive linemen (Zane Rowe (Oregon); Khyren Haywood (Texas Tech); Darrien Neal (TCU); Logan Lokey (2028) held Melissa to less than 100 yards of total offense. First-year starting QB Carter Morgan was terrific — finishing 21-of-29 for 237 yards with a pass TD and a rush TD.

The Minnesota Timberwolves bolstered their frontcourt depth with the surprise addition of Jonathan ***** inga, with whom they agreed a two-year, $13 million deal.
As it turns out, Anthony Edwards played a key role in recruiting ***** inga to the Minnesota Timberwolves. In a recent appearance on SiriusXM NBA Radio, beat reporter Jon Krawczynski revealed his conversation with ***** inga's agent, Aaron Turner, about Edwards' pitch.
May 10, 2025; San Francisco, California, USA; Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards (5) dribbles past Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan ***** inga (00) in the third quarter during game three in the second round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs at Chase Center. Mandatory Credit: David Gonzales-Imagn Images
"He said that one of the things that really resonated with Jonathan ***** inga was not just that Anthony Edwards, the face of the franchise, was reaching out directly to him and actively recruiting him and telling him 'Hey, we need you', but it was the message that he was giving Jonathan ***** inga," Krawczynski said.
"He started with defense and saying, 'Hey, if you come here, we're gonna focus on the defensive end; we're gonna be a really tough defensive team to play against with you and me and Rudy and Jaden McDaniels'. Then the second thing he told Jonathan ***** inga was, 'I know that you can cook offensively'. He had a very good playoff series against the Wolves when he was with the Warriors two years ago," he continued. "He said, 'Look, if there's a matchup night where you just have the fourth-best defender on you and you can go at him, I'm gonna say go get him.'"

Following his first mini-camp with his new Lakers teammates, star point guard Luka Doncic is feeling good about the future. While there is still a lot of work ahead for his team, the vibes are overall positive heading into the 2026-27 campaign.
Even so, the Lakers may not be done changing and tweaking the roster. According to the latest intel, veteran big man Dwight Powell is the best choice remaining in free agency, and he's reportedly being considered as a final addition to the Purple and Gold.
"The most significant option for the Lakers could be Dwight Powell, the 6-10, 35-year-old big man who was teammates with Doncic for 6 ½ seasons in Dallas," wrote Khobi Price. "Notably, Powell has played the most games as a teammate alongside Doncic (389) among the 98 players Doncic has played alongside in his eight-year NBA career."
The Lakers have been considering another move for a while now, but they don't have many **** ets to spare. That's why, at this point, the free agent market is the best place where they can find their ideal role player on a minimum salary.
With 16 total players on the roster, the Lakers would need to make room to add Powell, but there are several ways they could do it without breaking up their current core. One option is to straight up release players like Dalton Knecht or Bronny James. Alternatively, they could trade for someone like Jaden Hardy and/or Jake LaRavia in exchange for picks. The question is, is Powell the right man to pursue?

The Washington Commanders announced their initial practice squad on Monday afternoon. It included several standout players from training camp and the preseason, with talent that will surely support game-day efforts throughout the year.
Receiver Jaden Bradley is a notable addition, someone who received high praise throughout the course of camp. Terry McLaurin has mentored the undrafted UNLV product, who proved a hard worker in practices and a dynamic playmaker in preseason games.
The Commanders have a bloated receiver corps right now, but it's still possible Bradley sees the field at some point during the regular season.
Washington also signed veteran defensive lineman Byron Cowart, a relatively late addition who is an effective run stopper up front.
The Commanders also added fan favorite Robert Henry Jr., a running back and big-play threat. Craig Reynolds was also kept in that position group, and could be the first rusher elevated with just three backs on the active roster.

Sunday at 6 p.m. ET was the deadline for all 32 NFL teams to reduce their rosters to 53.
Sunday, the Washington Commanders released 16 offensive players. Here are those released and a quick reason why.
C/G Julian Good-Jones: The player wanted most by local fans and media to be released.
WR Jaden Bradley: Had the best catch of the preseason. Almost blocked two punts. Might have an NFL future.
WR Van Jefferson: Jefferson is a better route runner, but Luke McCaffrey won out because he returns kicks well.

Jordyn Woods has hit back after fans asked why Jaden Smith was seemingly in her bridal party.
The newlywed explained she and Will Smith's son have been friends since they were babies.
After fans reacted to photographs of 28-year-old Jordyn's wedding to New York Knicks basketballer Karl-Anthony Towns, 30, the influencer and entrepreneur took to social media with a full explanation.
Although Jaden was not an official member of Jordyn's all-female bridal party, he was very much part of the experience, leading some fans to express surprise at the actor's level of involvement.
"Why is Jaden with all of the girls? And at the bridal shower? And helping Karl with his shoes?" Jordyn wrote in a caption to a TikTok video montage featuring childhood snapshots of herself with Jaden, also 28, before explaining she and Jaden had been close friends for their entire lives.
"Because he's never missed an important moment in my life," she wrote.

Jonathan ******* inga picked the Minnesota Timberwolves over the Los Angeles Lakers, a move that stunned fans expecting a bigger paycheck. The 23-year-old forward signed a two-year, $12.4 million deal that includes a player option for the 2027-28 season. This structure lets him test free agency again next summer when more teams will have cash to spend.
His agent, Aaron Turner, told The Athletic that defense was the main reason for the switch. Turner said, "Ant was super active in the recruitment of him," referring to Anthony Edwards' role in the process. Edwards focused his message on the team's defensive identity rather than just offense.
Turner explained that while everyone else looked at the offensive side of the ball, ******* inga and his team looked at the defensive end. "He made this decision because of the defensive versatility of this team," Turner stated. The Lakers offered a sign-and-trade that would have locked ******* inga into a three-year deal worth $12 million a year. Minnesota offered a shorter path to a massive payday later. ******* inga wants to prove he can guard multiple positions before signing a long-term contract in 2027. The Timberwolves need that specific skill set to win now, and ******* inga sees a clear role where he can shine.
This choice follows a pattern of ******* inga turning down safer options to bet on his future value. Before leaving the Golden State Warriors, he declined a three-year, $75 million extension. According to reports, prioritizing finances over the game doesn't sustain the ability to generate increasing revenue. The Warriors didn't offer a clear starting role, so ******* inga felt he couldn't bet on himself there. He took the shortest option available, which eventually led to his trade to the Atlanta Hawks and then to Minnesota.
The Hawks declined his $24.3 million team option, making him an unrestricted free agent. Now, he faces a new challenge in Minnesota alongside stars like Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels. This mindset fits a team that prioritizes winning over individual numbers. ******* inga knows he must play well to maximize his next contract, and the Timberwolves provide the right system to show off his two-way potential.

Ipswich Town travel to Old Trafford on Sunday looking for a rare win at a ground where they've triumphed only once in their last eight visits.
Gary O'Neil's side arrive full of confidence after beating Sunderland with a stoppage-time winner on the opening weekend of their return to the top flight, and a marquee new arrival adds to the occasion.
Azor Matusiwa and Jack Taylor "won't be involved," O'Neil confirmed, while Jaden Philogene is "week to week" with his ankle issue. Florentino Luís remains a doubt, with O'Neil saying: "We're hoping Florentino might be back," though he stopped short of confirming his involvement.
Exequiel Palacios, signed from Bayer Leverkusen this week for a reported fee in the region of £20m, is set to feature after training with his new teammates. O'Neil confirmed: "I'm sure we'll see Exequiel on Sunday."
Dara O'Shea and Marcelino Núñez, who scored twice, including a 45-yard strike against Sunderland, are both expected to start for a third successive match, while Jack Clarke — whose 90th-minute winner sealed victory over his former club — is pushing for a recall from the bench.

By week 0 standards, it was a pretty fun Saturday on the soft opening of college football season. It's the final week 0 we'll ever see, with the NCAA moving to eliminate schedule oddity starting next year. So what did we learn? Let's dive in.
Bill Belichick kicked off the college football season with an ugly, gutty win over TCU in Ireland. It was easily the best win so far of his college career, doing it with mostly underclassmen on his young roster. Through all the noise and the drama, Belichick did what he's done so many times — win.
That win was much more about the hapless TCU team that North Carolina played though. TCU's new pro-style offense looked good to start, but North Carolina overwhelmed them physically in the second half. Harvard transfer Jaden Craig couldn't get anything going through the air after receiving plenty of hype this offseason.
TCU was missing their top receiver, but it sure looks like the Horned Frogs are in for a long, long season in the Big 12.
From the jump in Charlottesville on Saturday afternoon, NC State was simply overmatched. It was a physical beatdown coming from the Cavaliers, as Beau Pribula operated Tony Elliott's power run game from the quarterback position to perfection. Pribula also hit a couple of passes down the field to step on the throat of the Wolfpack.

TCU's post-Josh Hoover era has shaky start in loss to North Carolina, Belichick as passing game struggles originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
TCU still has plenty of work ahead in its effort to replace star quarterback Josh Hoover.
The Horned Frogs passed for just 175 yards in a 15-10 loss to North Carolina on Saturday in Dublin, Ireland.
Jaden Craig completed 20 of 32 passes for TCU, but he couldn't convert at critical times. Worse yet, the Horned Frogs were held scoreless after the first quarter, wasting a solid defensive effort. TCU held North Carolina to 322 yards and kept the Tar Heels out of the end zone after the first quarter.
Craig was under the microscope. Hoover passed for 3,472 yards with 29 touchdowns and 13 interceptions last season before transferring to Indiana, where he is considered a strong Heisman candidate for the top team in the Sporting News rankings.

If you're an avid reader of Acme Packing Company, you know that I feel like the Green Bay Packers show their cards a bit when it comes to pre-draft visitors. Since 2022, when the Packers appeared to have changed their visit strategy from almost being used exclusively on undrafted free agent rookie recruiting to more of a mix of picks and free agent prospects, Green Bay has signed, traded for, drafted or claimed on waivers 36 players who were pre-draft visitors with the team.
Often, when these players become available (some of them never become available, because they were high draft picks who were picked before the Packers were on the clock), Green Bay ends up targeting them in some way or another. While players like Darian Kinnard, John FitzPatrick and Josh Whyle weren't originally picked by the Packers, they did find their way to Green Bay later in their careers.
So, when a pre-draft visitor becomes available, my radar always goes up, especially if it's the first time the Packers have had a shot at bringing them to Green Bay since draft weekend. That's the case right now with New York Giants running back Damon Bankston, who was waived by the team on Saturday.
Bankston took a pre-draft visit with the Packers this spring, but ended up signing with the Giants for $115,000 guaranteed, far more than Green Bay spent on their UDFA running back signing, Jaden Nixon — who was added to the offseason roster for $15,000 guaranteed.
The New Mexico product was an interesting sleeper prospect in the class of 2026, as he posted 635 rushing yards (5.6 yards per carry), five touchdowns on the ground and caught 31 ****** for 397 yards and three touchdowns (12.8 yards per reception, a very high number for backs) through the air in his one year of FBS football. The numbers don't exactly look incredible from a volume perspective, but he was very efficient in the 9-4 Lobos' running back by committee (and he led the team in yards from scrimmage).

ATLANTA (AP) — Michael Harris II hit a two-out, two-run double in the eighth inning to lift the Atlanta Braves to a 2-1 win over the Colorado Rockies, the sixth straight for the National League East leaders.
Brent Suter (2-2) pitched 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief and picked up his first victory since joining the Braves at the trade deadline. Rookie Didier Fuentes allowed two baserunners in the ninth but retired Jake McCarthy to end the game and pick up his third save.
Harris lifted a fly ball to left center field that was just out of the diving reach of Cole Carrigg and scored Matt Olson from second and Mauricio Dubón from first.
Scheduled Rockies starter Ryan Feltner was scratched Saturday afternoon due to illness and replaced with Zach Agnos as manager Warren Schaeffer went with a bullpen game, using six pitchers. Jaden Hill (0-3) surrendered Harris' double in the eighth.
The Rockies entered the game with an MLB-worst 5.54 team ERA but came within four outs of just their second shutout of the season.

Week 0 is here, and the first game of the day will feature North Carolina vs. TCU in Dublin, Ireland. Both programs will be down a few players, while the Tar Heels are without defensive coordinator Steve Belichick.
But the Horned Frogs will be without their star playmaker. According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, WR Jordan Dwyer made the trip to Dublin, but he will be inactive for the game against the Tar Heels.
Dwyer, a former Idaho standout, transferred to TCU ahead of the 2025 season. With Josh Hoover throwing the football, who is now at Indiana, Dwyer was the No. 2 WR on TCU last season. He caught 54 passes for 730 yards and seven touchdowns.

North Carolina will open its 2026 season with a familiar opponent in an unfamiliar setting.
The Tar Heels will face TCU on Saturday in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, one year after the Horned Frogs handed UNC a lopsided loss in Chapel Hill. This time, both programs enter the matchup with significant changes after an offseason that reshaped portions of their respective rosters.
TCU will have several players capable of making an immediate impact as the Horned Frogs begin another season under Sonny **** s. From an experienced newcomer taking on a prominent offensive role to returning playmakers on both sides of the ball, North Carolina will have plenty to account for Saturday.
Here are three TCU players to watch against the Tar Heels.
Jaden Craig comes over from Harvard, where he finished his Harvard career as the program's all-time leader with 6,074 passing yards and 52 touchdown passes.

In 2023, Jaden Dugger was a safety. In 2024, he was a pass rusher. In 2025, he was an inside linebacker. In 2026, Louisiana coach Michael Desormeaux feared his star pupil could be undrafted.
Because Dugger changed positions annually, some NFL evaluators weren't sure what he was heading into April's draft. Desormeaux said he heard a common refrain from scouts: "We just don't see where he fits."
Desormeaux's response: Pick a spot for him. He'll be a great pick.
"They'd ask, 'What does he need to work on? '" Desormeaux said. "And I'd tell them, 'Well, he just needs to play linebacker. Or whatever he's going to play.'"
The San Francisco 49ers agreed - sort of. They believed Dugger was a late-round gem when they selected him in the fifth round four months ago. But why force a 6-foot-5, 242-pound player with gas-hose arms and extensive experience at all three levels of the defense into one position?

The San Francisco 49ers added eight players in the 2026 NFL draft, and while there are several rookies who have impressed throughout training camp and the team's three preseason games, only one has caught the eye of an NFL Hall of Famer.
In the middle of San Francisco's preseason finale against the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium on Thursday, former 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis took to social media to share his thoughts on rookie Jaden Dugger.
Dugger, 22, played collegiately at Georgetown from 2022-23 and Louisiana from 2024-25, where he earned All-Sun Belt honors once. The 49ers took him in fifth round of the 2026 NFL draft, and he's popped over the last month.
When Willis posted that, Dugger had a game-high 10 sacks and a pair of quarterback hits.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Beau Brungard threw for three touchdowns and ran for two, leading Youngstown State to a 43-10 rout of Mercyhurst in a Football Championship Subdivision season opener on Thursday night.
Brungard, the reigning Walter Payton Award winner as the top offensive player in FCS, had 98 yards rushing in the first half as the Penguins built a 29-3 lead. He accounted for three touchdowns — two on the ground and one passing. His second touchdown pass, 27 yards to Bryan Hunt, gave the Penguins a 36-3 lead to open the third quarter. He added a short touchdown pass to Jaden Gilbert with under 10 minutes left in the fourth before coming out of the game.
Brungard finished with 232 yards passing, completing 20 of 29 throws, and was intercepted once. He had 119 yards rushing on 21 carries. Gilbert had five carries for 89 yards, which included a 50-yard run. The Penguins, ranked No. 9 in the Stats Perform FCS top 25, had 484 yards on offense, with 232 passing and 252 rushing.
After driving 65 yards for a 24-yard field goal on the opening possession of the game, the Lakers didn't cross midfield until the middle of the fourth when they reached the YSU 34-yard line before being stopped on fourth down.
A blocked punt by Kaleb Platz set up the Lakers for a 53-yard drive to their only touchdown, a 2-yard pass from Alex Gevaudan to Sha'lik Hampton.

As the Seattle Seahawks prepare for their preseason finale against the Kansas City Chiefs, we at Seahawks Wire wanted to resume a tradition of ours. It's high time we took another trip... Behind Enemy Lines.
Every week, I reach out to my colleagues in the NFL Wires Network to get a better idea of the opponent Seattle will be facing. Up first will be John Dillon, who is the lead writer over at our sister site Chiefs Wire. We'll be reaching out to Dillon later in the year because the Seahawks will host the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. But for the time being, we're still in the preseason. I asked Dillon four questions about Kansas City at this stage, and his answers are below.
"Walker missed practice on August 25 due to injury, and I fear that his time in Kansas City may end up being defined by his availability rather than his ability to produce — it is my understanding that this was the case in Seattle before the Super Bowl run. Either way, Walker figures to be a key contributor to the Chiefs' offense this season and is still on track to be Kansas City's starting running back in Week 1. If he stays healthy, I expect the Chiefs to commit to giving him ample touches in the running game, which could make him a top performer in fantasy football."
"Andy Reid has always seemed to struggle with his running backs, but I think he has a chance to finally break that trend with Walker. Given that Patrick Mahomes is returning from a serious knee injury on a seemingly rushed timeline, it seems likely that Reid will commit to a more straightforward North-South running game with Walker in the backfield. Plays that don't require any complex footwork or extra movement from the quarterback. It also seems probable that Reid will turn away from some of the run-pass option action that has characterized Chiefs football for so long now. Ultimately, the acquisition of Walker is a hedge against Mahomes' injury and Kansas City's ability (or inability, as it were) to establish a viable air attack in the two-time MVP's absence."
"Rookie wide receiver Cyrus Allen has generated a ton of hype in training camp and has looked like a capable prospect during the Chiefs' two preseason losses. In terms of a lesser-known standout, though, I think third-year defensive back Jaden Hicks is the player to watch. All of the departures in Kansas City's secondary during the offseason have given Hicks a huge opportunity to earn a starting role, and he seems to have made the most of the chance he's been given."
