Week 0 is here, and the first game of the day will feature North Carolina vs. TCU in Dublin, Ireland. Both programs will be down a few players, while the Tar Heels are without defensive coordinator Steve Belichick.
But the Horned Frogs will be without their star playmaker. According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, WR Jordan Dwyer made the trip to Dublin, but he will be inactive for the game against the Tar Heels.
Dwyer, a former Idaho standout, transferred to TCU ahead of the 2025 season. With Josh Hoover throwing the football, who is now at Indiana, Dwyer was the No. 2 WR on TCU last season. He caught 54 passes for 730 yards and seven touchdowns.

North Carolina will open its 2026 season with a familiar opponent in an unfamiliar setting.
The Tar Heels will face TCU on Saturday in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, one year after the Horned Frogs handed UNC a lopsided loss in Chapel Hill. This time, both programs enter the matchup with significant changes after an offseason that reshaped portions of their respective rosters.
TCU will have several players capable of making an immediate impact as the Horned Frogs begin another season under Sonny **** s. From an experienced newcomer taking on a prominent offensive role to returning playmakers on both sides of the ball, North Carolina will have plenty to account for Saturday.
Here are three TCU players to watch against the Tar Heels.
Jaden Craig comes over from Harvard, where he finished his Harvard career as the program's all-time leader with 6,074 passing yards and 52 touchdown passes.

"QJ" signed with the Horned Frogs as a four-star prospect and one of the highest-ranked recruits in program history. His promise lived up to the hype, as he totaled 2,190 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns over just three seasons in Fort Worth. As a freshman, Johnston reeled in 22 catches for 487 yards and two scores while helping TCU to a 6-4 record and an invitation to the Texas Bowl, which was ultimately canceled due to COVID-19.
Johnston's career season came in 2022, when he brought in a career-high 60 catches for 1,069 yards and six touchdowns while guiding the Horned Frogs to a 13-2 record, a trip to the Big 12 ***** le game and a Fiesta Bowl win over Michigan. Johnston went for 163 yards and a touchdown on six catches and was named the Offensive MVP of the Fiesta Bowl matchup. Johnston, a First-Team All-Big 12 selection over the 2021 and 2022 seasons, was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers with their first-round pick (No. 21 overall) in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Since beginning his professional career, Johnston has made 46 apperances with 31 starts. He's caught 144 passes for 1,877 yards and 18 touchdowns, 16 of which have come over the last two seasons. The 24-year-old is entering his fourth season with the Chargers, who picked up Johnston's fifth-year option earlier this year.

A four-star recruit out of Marshall, Texas, Williams spent five years with the Horned Frogs and finished his career with 1,655 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns on 137 receptions. His best season came in 2024, when he brought in a career-high 60 catches for 611 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 322 yards and six more touchdowns out of the "Wildfrog" formation. Williams improved over each of his five seasons at TCU, earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mentions over both the 2023 and 2024 campaigns. He was invited to the Senior Bowl.
Elarms-Orr transferred to TCU after starting his career at California, where he was named an All-Pac 12 Second Team selection. For the Horned Frogs, Elarms-Orr rotated in during the 2024 season and became a starter the following season. In 2025, Elarms-Orr compiled 130 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss and four sacks to earn All-Big 12 First Team consideration. He aided TCU in its New Mexico Bowl win and its Alamo Bowl win last year.
Williams was taken by the Green Bay Packers in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, while Elarms-Orr was picked by the Buffalo Bills with a fourth-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft. Williams made 10 receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown while rushing 11 times for 37 yards his rookie year. Elarms-Orr made his preseason debut earlier this month and will likely make his regular season debut sometime next month.

Among the teams that are playing are the North Carolina Tar Heels, who will face off against the TCU Horned Frogs in Ireland. It will be a very important season for the Tar Heels and Bill Belichick as they need to have a winning season. UNC will have a change at the quarterback position as they saw Max Johnson, Gio Lopez, and Bryce Baker all transferred out.
While news broke earlier in the week that Johnson was named the starter at Georgia Southern, Lopez also won the starting job. Lopez was named the starting quarterback at Wake Forest on Tuesday.
Lopez transferred to UNC in 2025, coming off an impressive season at South Alabama. While at UNC, Lopez really struggled and threw for 1,747 yards, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions. In his career, he has thrown for 4,781 yards and 32 touchdowns, with 12 rushing touchdowns.

UNC heads across the pond for a 12 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, August 29 against the TCU Horned Frogs, who hopped into Kenan Stadium last year for a 48-14 thumping. Now just a few days out from its 2026 opener, North Carolina named its seven Team Captains. ESPN's Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach return to make weekly bowl projections and have released their debut forecast for the 2026 season. Both experts expect Auburn to earn a bowl bid, but neither is high on Auburn playing in a prestigious bowl game or even making the College Football Playoff.
Bonagura's first projection pits Auburn against TCU in the Kinder's Texas Bowl, which is scheduled for New Year's Eve at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. The Horned Frogs were a solid program in 2025, going 8-4 in the regular season and earning an overtime win over USC in the Alamo Bowl. TCU opened its campaign by upsetting North Carolina in Chapel Hill, 48-14, spoiling the home opener for NFL head coach legend Bill Belichick.
Schlabach is less optimistic in Auburn, as he projects the Tigers to stay in their home state this postseason to face Duke in the JLab Birmingham Bowl at Protective Stadium on Tuesday, Dec. 29. Duke upset the Virginia Cavaliers last season to win the ACC Championship, which kept them out of the College Football Playoff. The Blue Devils defeated Arizona State at the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl in El Paso, capping a four-game winning streak to end the season.

Doctson finished his college career as TCU's record holder in receiving yards (2,785) and receiving touchdowns (29). He made 180 receptions, which places him behind Kelly Blackwell for second all-time at TCU. His career-best season came in 2015, when he made a school-record 79 catches for 1,327 yards and a school-record 14 touchdowns. He was named a First-Team All-American and a finalist for both the Biletnikoff Award and the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award. He was also named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award.
A transfer from Wyoming, Doctson immediately caught on in his first season at TCU. In 2013, Doctson tied for the team lead in receptions (36) and led the team in receiving yards (440). He made a huge leap during TCU's run to the Big 12 co-championship in 2014, making 65 catches for 1,018 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was named an All-Big 12 Second Team selection and a semifinalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award. With Doctson and quarterback Trevone Boykin leading the offense, TCU went 12-1 and beat Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl.
The Washington Redskins (now Commanders) selected Doctson with a first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Across four NFL seasons, all with Washington, Doctson reeled in 81 catches for 1,100 yards and eight scores, six of which came during the 2017 season. He made 34 appearances and 26 starts in his career, which included three years in Washington and one year with the Minnesota Vikings. He signed with the New York Jets in 2020, but opted out of the COVID season. He briefly spent time on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad in 2021.

The college football season is set to begin in just under two weeks with the official Week Zero kickoff. A new quest for the College Football Playoff will commence, with multiple head coaches facing major pressure to deliver.
That pressure is not only about winning but, in some cases, also reaching the playoff. The field has expanded to 12 teams and could grow again after this season. The No. 6-ranked TCU soccer team opened its season with a thrilling road matchup against No. 22 Wisconsin on Thursday evening. With the match scoreless late in the first half, the Horned Frogs sent in a corner kick that the Badgers own-goaled. The goal, which came in the 79th minute, allowed TCU to edge out Wisconsin 1-0 and kick off the season with a 1-0 record. The Horned Frogs won the game despite not recording a single shot on goal and being outshot by the Badgers 13-2. Olivia Geller recorded six saves and the shutout for the Horned Frogs.
Wisconsin outpaced TCU 9-4 in corner kicks. Despite that, the Horned Frogs earned their first win over the Badgers in program history, as the team had been 0-2-1 over its previous three contests. The game marked the second time that TCU opened the season against a ranked opponent under coach Eric Bell. It was the first time under Bell that the Horned Frogs opened the season against a ranked opponent on the road. Four players (Kamdyn Fuller, Cameron Patton, Zoe Cuneio and Olivia Geller) were on the field for the full 90 minutes.

He was named an All-Big 12 First Team selection in 2022 and earned Defensive MVP honors for his efforts in the 2022 Fiesta Bowl win over Michigan. Winters intercepted Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy and returned the ball to the endzone for a touchdown. He played in 48 games over his four seasons with the Horned Frogs.
A Senior Bowl invitee in 2023, Winters was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round of the NFL Draft. Winters has played in 47 NFL games over the last three seasons, totaling 155 tackles, eight tackles for loss and three quarterback hits. His career season with the 49ers came in 2025, when he posted 101 total tackles, five pass breakups and his first interception. Winters was traded to the Cowboys over the offseason.

Bech, who played in 20 games over his two seasons in Fort Worth, was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Bech made 16 appearances during his rookie season, catching 20 passes for 224 yards and averaging 11.2 yards per catch. Prior to TCU, Bech played two seasons at LSU. He led the Tigers in receptions (43) and posted 489 receiving yards and three touchdowns as a true freshman in 2021.

The Denver Broncos brought in a pair of pass rushers for workouts on Thursday, according to KUSA-TV's Mike Klis.
Denver hosted veteran Andre Carter (6-6, 270 pounds) and undrafted rookie Devean Deal (6-2, 251 pounds). Carter, 26, went undrafted in 2023 after playing college football for the Army Black Knights. He has spent time with five NFL teams, totaling three tackles, one quarterback hit and a half-sack in 15 career games.
Deal, 23, went undrafted out of TCU this spring, initially signing with the Seattle Seahawks as a college free agent. He was waived by Seattle in May. Deal recorded 53 tackles, five pass breakups, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery returned for a touchdown in 13 games with the Horned Frogs last fall.

Minnesota Lynx guard Olivia Miles played like a seasoned veteran against a formidable foe, Caitlin Clark and the visiting Indiana Fever. The rookie showed poise throughout the game, including in the clutch, to clinch a 108-100 victory despite Clark and Fever star Kelsey Mitchell's efforts. Onlookers praised Miles for how well she played against Clark and Mitchell. One spectator was South Carolina Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley, who posted on her X/Twitter page. Miles was never under Staley's tutelage; she played for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the TCU Horned Frogs. Still, Staley couldn't help but praise Miles for the masterclass she put up.
"oliviamiles06 got me in my house cursing on a Sunday. Lord have mercy! WNBA I saw a logo change in this app…..use it!," Staley shared.
Staley later shared a photo of Miles' silhouette as the WNBA logo.
Miles finished the intense matchup against the Fever with a team-high 28 points on an efficient 11-of-14 shooting clip, adding four rebounds, six **** ists and a block in 32 minutes. On the other hand, for the Fever, Clark dropped a double-double of 19 points and 10 **** ists while Mitchell pitched in a game-high 37 points.
During the postgame news conference, Olivia Miles, joined by Minnesota Lynx veteran Courtney Williams, was asked about what it was like facing the Indiana Fever in front of over 16,000 spectators. Given that she is still a WNBA rookie, Miles' ability to stay composed in such a hotly contested matchup is rare. Miles said that she was just glad to have gotten the win despite the hostile fanfare.

Last month, USC baseball lost pitching coach Sean Allen, who was named the new head coach at Lamar. To replace him, the Trojans hired Hawaii’s Keith Zuniga. However, it appears as though that will not be the only **** istant coaching change that Andy Stankiewicz and USC make this offseason.
On Wednesday, it was reported that hitting coach and recruiting coordinator Travis Jewett will be leaving the Trojans for Vanderbilt, where he will take over as the de facto general manager. However, it took less than a day for USC to find his replacement, as Wednesday night, reports surfaced that the Trojans will be hiring veteran **** istant and longtime friend of Stankiewicz Bill Mosiello as their new hitting coach.
“Mosiello comes to USC after being an **** istant at several big-name programs in his career, including Cal State Fullerton, Arizona State, and four different schools now in the SEC,” Shotgun Spratling of 247Sports wrote. “But he is most well known as being a top **** istant at TCU for 11 of the last 13 years where he helped push the program to new heights. The Horned Frogs went to four consecutive College World Series appearances from 2014 to 2017 with Mosiello as the hitting coach.
“He had been the **** ociate head coach under Kirk Saarloos the last two seasons after a two-year stint as Ohio State's head coach. He went 60-51 with the Buckeyes and took them to their first Big Ten Tournament in a half decade in 2024, but left the position to return to Fort Worth. The Horned Frogs saw dividends right away as the team average improved 25 points in 2025, and TCU returned to the NCAA tournament (only to be beaten by USC) after not making it in 2024.
“But after TCU struggled to meet expectations this season, missing the postseason for just the second time in Mosiello's 11 years with the program, the Horned Frogs made multiple changes to their **** istant coaching staff, including parting ways with Mosiello. That opened the door for Mosiello and Stankiewicz to finally unite after more than 50 years of friendship.”

The Milwaukee Brewers had been heavily connected to Sawyer Strosnider in mock drafts throughout the weeks leading up to the 2026 MLB Draft. Ranked as a top 30 talent in this Draft, including 13th overall by Baseball America, the Brewers were ultimately able to select Strosnider, but not at 25 overall where he was expected. Milwaukee gets their guy at 66 overall.
In the first round, the Brewers went with a likely heavy under-slot selection with Corona (CA) HS shortstop Trey Ebel.
Strosnider fell likely due to some struggles late in the season for TCU, but he has one of the best power-speed combinations in this entire class. Both tools grade out as plus with legendary home runs and blazing speed. He hit .273/.415/.590 on the season for the Horned Frogs with 13 homers and 12 stolen bases. Strosnider drew as many walks as he had strikeouts (43) as well.
The Brewers have historically loved great athletes, especially multi-sport athletes and Strosnider was a three sport star in high school. He played basketball as well as track and field on top of baseball. Strosnider’s event of choice was the high jump, which bodes well for potential home run robberies in the outfield. That athleticism should give him a much better chance to make any adjustments necessary to be successful at the next level.
Strosnider has an aggressive approach at the plate, which has led to him chasing a few too many pitches outside of the zone, leading to lower quality contact sometimes. The Brewers historically preach smart swing decisions and that’s likely something they’re going to work on heavily with him once he gets in the organization.

Four-star combo guard Jordan Mize from Sierra Canyon in Chatsworth, California, received an offer from the Gonzaga Bulldogs.
The 6-5, 190-pounder with high upside holds other offers from the San Francisco Dons, California Golden Bears, Sacramento State Hornets, San Diego Toreros, USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks, Oregon State Beavers, Washington Huskies, Arizona State Sun Devils, Utah Utes, TCU Horned Frogs, LSU Tigers, and Tennessee Volunteers.
Mize shot up the Rivals rankings, competing with the Northwest Rotary Rebels (an AAU combination program with Portland, Oregon's Rose City Rebels, and Seattle, Washington's Seattle Rotary) on the Nike EYBL circuit this spring and summer. The Sacramento, California native is currently placed as the No. 20 overall recruit in the Class of 2028, the No. 4 shooting guard, and the No. 5 player coming out of the state of California.
He averaged 16.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.3 **** ists, and 2.1 steals per game during the spring with the Rotary Rebels. Mize is improving into a two-way versatility threat, but he looks his best when attacking downhill and finishing through contact when watching his highlights at the Nevada Live Invitational in Las Vegas, Nevada, in late June.
The 17-year-old is still growing and raw for his young age.

Minnesota Lynx guard Olivia Miles is the frontrunner for the 2026 WNBA 'Rookie of the Year' award. Unfortunately for the former TCU Horned Frogs star, she is dealing with a minor setback. Miles is set to miss her first-ever game due to a right calf injury in the WNBA on Monday, July 6. In a report by WNBA insider Cassidy Hettesheimer on X, Minnesota coach Cheryl Reeve explained the decision behind sitting Miles out. According to the tenured tactician, Reeve and her staff are making sure that Miles' injury does not worsen.
"Those that were in tune to the last game, you know, she mentioned feeling some cramping, and you know, I think ultimately it wasn't a cramp, and so we're kind of taking the next step of imaging and that sort of thing, and trying to get a final answer, exactly what we're dealing with," Reeve was quoted as saying.
The Lynx are taking on coach Rachid Meziane's Connecticut Sun on their home floor without Miles. Coach Reeve and company will have to rely on veterans such as forward Natasha Howard and guard Courtney Williams for now, especially since Miles is leading the team in scoring in her first year. Minnesota currently has an overall record of 15-5, good for the first seed in the Western Conference.
Prior to the Minnesota Lynx taking on the Connecticut Sun, they lost to the New York Liberty on Friday by 13 points, 99-86, in away territory. There were many onlookers for the game, since it was a rematch of the 2024 WNBA Finals. Despite the loss, Olivia Miles still put up 14 points, five rebounds, five **** ists, and a steal in 26 minutes of playing time. On the flip side, Liberty forward Breanna Stewart put up a game-high 36 points.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound catcher slashed .270/.373/.549 while blasting eight home runs, adding eight doubles and 23 RBIs. He also scored 28 runs and collected 33 hits during his freshman campaign.
Moreover, Dallimore split time at catcher with sophomore Nolan Traeger, who also entered the portal after the season. With both players departing, TCU faces significant turnover at the position heading into 2027 after finishing 33-21 and missing the NCAA Tournament despite entering the year ranked inside the preseason top 10.

In 21 appearances this past season, Santos compiled a 2-2 record with a 5.27 ERA and four saves. He struck out 41 batters over 27.1 innings, showcasing the swing-and-miss ability that made him an attractive transfer portal target.
As a freshman in 2025, Santos appeared in 17 games exclusively out of the bullpen. He made his collegiate debut against William & Mary and recorded a season-high four strikeouts during two scoreless innings against Brown in April.

Josh Hoover will be Indiana’s starting quarterback this season and he played for the TCU Horned Frogs a season ago. Despite the Hoosiers losing some players to the NFL Draft, will they be good again in 2026?
Sam Khan Jr. and Austin Mock of the Athletic created its latest Top 25 rankings. They have Indiana as the number one team in the nation as the 2026 college football season approaches. Khan and Mock said about the Hoosiers football program,
“The reigning champs still have plenty of talent thanks to a handful of key returnees and the No. 2 transfer portal class. No returning FBS QB has thrown for more yards in the past three seasons than Josh Hoover when he was at TCU. Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh should form a productive receiving duo, and the return of All-America tackle Carter Smith to anchor an experienced front is huge. So is having a veteran defensive front, led by Tyrique Tucker and transfer Tobi Osunsanmi.”
Charlie Becker is projected to be the top wide receiver for Indiana this season and could be Hoover’s top target. Becker could very well be a first-round selection in the 2027 NFL Draft. Indiana’s toughest games next season will be against Ohio State and also against the Michigan Wolverines also.
