Coventry City have signed 25-year-old goalkeeper Carl Rushworth from Brighton & Hove Albion following his successful loan at the CBS Arena.
The deal is reportedly worth a club record £22m but neither club has made the fee public, nor has the length of his "long-term contract" been revealed.
Rushworth played in all 46 of Coventry's league games last season, keeping 17 clean sheets as they won the Championship to end their 25-year wait to return to the Premier League.
"I'm really happy, there's so many emotions that I've got," said Rushworth.
"There's excitement, I can finally relax knowing it's done and that I'm back with the boys and at a club I loved being at."

Manchester United defender Gabrielle George is expected to sign for Brighton & Hove Albion according to reports.
George came through the academy at United and went on to play several seasons at Everton before returning to the club in the summer of 2023. An ACL injury disrupted her first season at the club but she became a semi-regular upon her return to fitness.
However, with George not a guaranteed starter she is now set to seek regular game time with Brighton according to the reliable Emma Sander of BBC Sport with the Seagulls set to pay a six-figure fee for the 29-year-old.
Although not a regular, George's departure will mean United's defence depth will take another hit after Millie Turner left the club last month.

BYU's recently-minted defensive coordinator, Poppinga, fresh off a successful stint as special teams coordinator for the Cougars, opens the 2026 season replacing Michigan-bound Jay Hill.
By an obvious consensus, Hill was a remarkable defensive coach at BYU. Heck, he was a tremendous head coach at Weber State. Jesper Lindstrøm has taken another major step towards joining Schalke 04 after arriving in Germany to complete his medical ahead of a proposed move from Napoli. The 26-year-old was spotted landing at Düsseldorf Airport before travelling to Gelsenkirchen with permission from the Italian club.
Despite Lindstrøm's arrival, the transfer has not yet been finalized. According to reports, Schalke and Napoli are still negotiating the structure of the deal. The newly-promoted Bundesliga side are pushing for a season-long loan with an option to buy, while Napoli are insisting on a mandatory purchase clause worth around €5 million.
Lindstrøm is understood to have already agreed personal terms with Schalke and is reportedly prepared to take a pay cut to facilitate the move. Since the beginning of this season, a dark cloud has been hovering over Detroit. That cloud featured the possibility that this was the final season that longtime ace Tarik Skubal would be playing in Motown. And as the Tigers' season began to drift away from their goal of making the postseason, the hypothetical of trading their homegrown superstar quickly turned into a certain reality.
Sure enough, the Tigers closed the book on the Skubal era on Saturday, trading their all-world ace to the Los Angeles Dodgers for outfielder Zyhir Hope and right-handers River Ryan and Brady Smith, sources confirmed to Yahoo Sports.

Chelsea have announced the signing of 35-year-old striker Danny Welbeck from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The England international, capped 42 times, spent the last six seasons with the Seagulls and, in 2025/26, played 40 matches and scored 14 goals. Welbeck has signed a two-year deal with the Blues, running until June 2028.
Welbeck will represent his sixth club in the Premier League, after playing for Manchester United, Sunderland, **** nal, Watford and Brighton.
"It is a real honour to join a club of this stature at such an exciting time. I already know some of the players and I've had fantastic conversations with the manager — I already feel that connection," Welbeck told the London club's official channels.

The first day of padded practice for the San Francisco 49ers also included the team's first fight of training camp.
The dustup was initiated when Fred Warner and tight end Jake Tonges got into a heated shoving match after a play according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner. However, it was linebacker Dre Greenlaw and running back Christian McCaffrey who ignited the fuse for a scuffle.
Greenlaw, per the SF Standard's Lombardi, shoved McCaffrey to the ground after the veteran RB caught a pass. That led to McCaffrey throwing the ball at Greenlaw and shoving him back. While things were heated between the two veterans, nothing escalated beyond that shoving.
A few plays later it was Warner and Tonges mixing it up to with Colton McKivitz and Dre Greenlaw catalyzing a kerfuffle that eventually involved the entire roster, per Wagoner.
Typically these types of fights happen well into camp when players have spent several days in the heat hitting their own teammates during their on-field workouts. That the 49ers are already getting into it on the first day with pads on is a sign that their intensity level may be ratcheted up a little higher than normal.

One of the dark clouds that has hovered over the Mark Pope era in Lexington is injuries. Year one, year two, and now heading into year three, we hear that word floating and continue to hope for the best with these athletes and the injuries tied to them.
One of the players that has unfortunately seen some time sidelined due to injury is Kam Williams. Last year, against the Texas Longhorns, Williams suffered a foot injury on a routine play. Since then, he has worked his tail off, recovering from immediate surgery to return within such a short window, and ultimately made that happen by returning to be with the 2025-26 squad as they went into the postseason.
We recently learned from Mark Pope that Williams underwent a second surgery, which delayed things a little bit for the rising junior, heading into his second season in Lexington.
Then on Thursday, Williams met with local media and opened up about his recent surgery.
"It was really a clean-up thing," said Williams. "Obviously, I was preparing to come back for the summer, like in May or whatever, and started working out more and more. Then went up for another imaging process or whatever, and we just didn't like how it looked in a way. So we just decided that it was the best opportunity we needed to take advantage of, which was getting it cleaned up."

As the game ends, bored spectators streaming out, the camera briefly flashes on the luxury boxes. A grinning Gianni Infantino, the FIFA commissioner, mugs obscenely with the Saudi king and other potentates. History, of a kind, has happened.
If you see nothing wrong with this, you're probably either one of Infantino's staffers or a blood relation. Certainly, Infantino thinks such a display would be amazing. According to The Times of London, the FIFA chief is working closely with Thrive Capital's Joshua Kushner (brother of Jared Kushner!) and JP Morgan on a proposition that would all but radically transform the men's and women's World Cups as we know them, and not coincidentally shovel millions into his acquisitive little mittens. The proposal—now roundly condemned by virtually everyone who's heard about it, including Britain's new prime minister—involves creating a private company that would control the World Cups. Each of FIFA's 211 national member ****** ociations would have a financial stake, estimated at around $20 million each. The Times estimates that the company would be valued at around $20 billion.
The report makes for wild reading. Now, stop for a moment. Think of how quickly and quietly this whole thing went from "consultations" to a set of signed, nonbinding agreements. This isn't an idle contrivance, set for a slow burn; banks like JP Morgan and people like Kushner don't engage in that kind of deal. This is a fast-moving plan of action, set in motion before anyone outside of FIFA's holiest of holies in Zurich even knew what was going down.
Suffice it to say: It's a spectacularly bad idea. The pressure to expand the World Cups, to play them every other year, or even annually, would be immense. The arm twisting to turn them into something that would make college bowl season look staid and decorous would be even greater.

NEW YORK, July 28 (Reuters) - Global hedge funds are on track for another blockbuster year, as they look to surpass their returns from 2025 after an artificial intelligence boom buoyed first-half performance for money managers across most investment strategies, according to a Goldman Sachs note sent to clients that ‌was seen by Reuters.
During the first six months of this year, hedge funds returned an average of 7%, well above the 10-year average of 4.1%, according ‌to the Goldman report. Those returns have been exceeded only twice, during the COVID years of 2020 and 2021, when market volatility boosted returns for fund managers. It marks the sixth consecutive half-year period in which hedge fund returns exceeded their long-term average.
"Hedge funds broadly have successfully pivoted through the AI complex in the last few years, adeptly shifting exposures through the 'picks and shovels' of the AI boom, moving from semis, to power & data centers, and in the last 12 months decisively towards memory stocks," Goldman wrote.
Demand from allocators, or investors who back hedge funds, has also surged during this year, amid a broadening flow of capital into the industry.

Everton are interested in signing Chelsea striker Liam Delap this summer, according to talkSPORT. Everton manager David Moyes wanted to bring the Toffees target to the Hill ****** inson Stadium last summer, holding face-to-face talks with him. However, the 23-year-old opted to join Chelsea after leaving Ipswich Town. Delap scored just one goal in 28 Premier League games last term, and another goal in 13 other appearances. Chelsea are ready to cut their losses and are closing in on a move for Brighton & Hove Albion striker Danny Welbeck.
Delap is set to be available for a transfer, and Everton are monitoring his situation. Moyes will be confident of getting the best out of the Chelsea flop given his track record with youngsters. The Englishman bagged 12 goals in 37 Premier League games for Ipswich in 2024-25 and could prove to be a quality finisher elsewhere. Everton want attacking reinforcements and they could look to go for Delap in the coming weeks. Both Thierno Barry and Beto have been linked with summer exits.
Jack Grealish has returned to Manchester City after his loan spell, and while the Toffees are open to another loan deal, City prefer a permanent sale. Senegalese attacker Iliman Ndiaye has suitors in the Saudi Pro League, and Everton will need more options in attack even if they hold on to him.
