Average Women's Super League attendances surged by 192% in the season after the Lionesses' Euro 2022 triumph, but the speed of the boom has stalled.
Median crowds have risen by just 166 fans, from 3,070 in 2023-24 to 3,236 in 2025-2026, according to a 2026 report from YouGov and architecture firm Populous.
Some of the biggest fixtures are now attracting significantly smaller attendances.
Arsenal against Manchester United at Emirates Stadium fell from 46,603 in 2024-25 to 29,853 this season, while Chelsea v ******* nal dropped from 34,302 to 19,349 over the same period.
The Gunners, who averaged 34,000 at the Emirates last season - almost four times the next-highest club, Chelsea, and higher than eight Premier League sides - had just 19,546 for their October match against Birmingham City.

New Zealand arrive at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday with little to play for beyond their pride, as the fourth T20I against India begins with the series already out of reach. The hosts will be hoping to take the last two games and salvage something from a difficult few weeks.
India sealed the series with three convincing chases, and each one left the home bowlers searching for answers. They first reached targets of 226 and 181 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, then overhauled 199 in just 13.2 overs in Wellington, the most one-sided of the lot.
The visitors are still without Ishan Kishan, who has missed the last two matches because of a low-grade right adductor strain. According to the BCCI's latest update, he has not yet regained full match fitness, so his availability for Auckland remains in doubt.
New Zealand have their own selection issues to manage. Matt Henry has moved out of the T20I group to link up with the ODI squad, while Lockie Ferguson missed the Wellington game and is expected to be back for the final two matches of the series.
The Black Caps cannot change the result of the series any more, but wins in the remaining fixtures would at least restore some dignity. Ferguson's likely return should add pace and bounce to an attack that has been underwhelming, to say the least.

Jürgen Klopp will announce his Germany squad on Thursday, November 5th, for the national team's final two UEFA Nations League group-stage matches of the year per iMiaSanMia.
Germany faces a trip to Belgrade to take on Serbia on November 13th before returning home to Berlin for a highly anticipated clash against the Netherlands on November 16th. Both fixtures will provide Klopp with another opportunity to evaluate his options as he continues shaping the national team in his first year in charge.
There will be plenty of intrigue surrounding Klopp's selections, particularly as Germany looks to finish the group stage strongly. Will the former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund manager stick with the players who have featured in his previous camps, or will he introduce some fresh faces for the final international break of 2026? Certainly, he will have to take fewer players than he called up in September.
The squad announcement will also offer a clearer picture of Klopp's preferred core of players moving forward, with competition for starting places still wide open in several positions.
Germany has two important tests ahead, and Klopp will want to see his team deliver consistent performances against challenging opposition.

Seeking a route back to winning ways after a stunning 4-3 home loss to Club Brugge in midweek Champions League action, Inter head to Stadio Renato Dall'Ara to face Bologna on Saturday. Despite another disappointing result in Europe, the reigning Serie A holders are leading the way in the domestic championship after six rounds.
Except for a dramatic 2-2 draw against Roma on the stroke of the international break, Cristian Chivu's charges have won all five remaining league fixtures this season, including a 3-0 rout of Parma last weekend. However, there's no room for complacency, as they sit level on points with early surprise package Lazio ahead of Saturday's kickoff.
In stark contrast, Bologna have endured a rough start to the season, picking up just two points from the opening five matchdays (D2, L3). It sent a signal to the club that it was time for new boss Domenico Tedesco to go, with Raffaele Palladino taking his place in the dugout just before the international break. The change paid off quickly as the Rossoblu eked out a 2-1 win at Lecce on the Italian's road debut last time out.
Buoyed by last weekend's triumph, Bologna fans are looking forward to Inter's visit, knowing the Nerazzurri have only won one of the last five Serie A meetings between the sides (D2, L2). Away from the pitch, fans looking to protect their online privacy while streaming matches or browsing football coverage can explore VPN services. With these, you can add a dedicated IP to your Private Internet Access plan, giving you an IP address reserved for your use rather than shared with other VPN users.

Speaking to Real Madrid's official media after the win at the Santiago Bernabeu, Huijsen stressed the need to approach the demanding schedule one match at a time.
The Spanish defender also highlighted the significance of playing at home, welcomed Eder Militao's return from injury and explained why securing three points against Leipzig could prove crucial to Madrid's European campaign.
"We're looking forward to what's next," he began saying.
"We have the Champions League on Wednesday, we're taking it one step at a time, and then we play Barcelona. It's an important week for us."

The Investec Champions Cup campaign is underway with an intriguing opening round of action whetting the appetite for the season ahead.
This one-off weekend of fixtures serves only as an hors d'ouevres with the competition not resuming until after the Nations Championship in November, and the eight English clubs will have plenty to do when it picks up again.
While Gloucester secured an excellent draw against defending champions Bordeaux-Begles, only Northampton were successful in their opening outing of the Prem contingent as the United Rugby Championship and Top 14 sides showed their strength.
Here are five things we learned:
So much for the Prem being a league on the up with a clutch of sides ready to challenge for the first time in a while. Even in victory, Northampton were not at their best against Cardiff in the wet, with the English performance of the round undoubtedly that of Gloucester at a bouncing Kingsholm on Friday evening.

Barcelona defender Eric Garcia has expressed his frustration after suffering a muscle injury that will sideline him for several weeks, ruling him out of two of the club's most important fixtures against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
The 25-year-old sustained the injury during Barcelona's 5-2 victory over Real Betis, turning a memorable afternoon into a personal setback.
After scoring his first goal of the season, Garcia was forced off in the 90th minute and now faces an extended spell on the sidelines.
The defender has a muscle injury in the rectus femoris of his right thigh and is expected to be unavailable for three to four weeks.
His absence is also set to extend beyond the PSG and El Clasico encounters, with Barcelona facing further fixtures against Alaves, Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid before the second international break of the season.

West Ham United have received a warning despite their emphatic 6-0 win over Wrexham, with former Championship striker Bradley Allen urging caution before winter. The comments, originally broadcast by BBC Radio London and covered by Inside Futbol, followed a performance that gave Nuno Espírito Santo's side a boost in the promotion race.
Six players scored, including captain Jarrod Bowen and Joel Piroe, while West Ham created 19 shots on goal and kept a clean sheet. Allen described the display as outstanding from start to finish and said West Ham possessed too much quality for Wrexham. Yet he stressed that bigger tests await, particularly as the winter schedule stacks fixtures together. His message was: West Ham can leave the Championship quickly, but the examination has not arrived.
Allen said on BBC Radio London: "What a performance, outstanding from start to finish, a clean sheet as well.
"Playing dominant football in front of a big crowd.
"That will put down a marker, but there will be bigger tests; we haven't got to the depths of winter.

Glentoran manager Declan Devine is set to leave the club amid the east Belfast outfit's poor start to the Irish Premiership season.
An agreement over his departure was reached on Monday with the Glens winless in their past three league games and sat eighth in the table with seven points from their opening six fixtures.
Devine's last game in charge was a frustrating 1-1 draw with Bangor at the Oval on Saturday and the full-time whistle was met by a chorus of boos from the home faithful.
Former Glens goalkeeper Devine took over at the 23-time league champions initially as interim boss in March 2024 after Warren Feeney was sacked.
He was given the role as permanent boss the following month and guided Glentoran to the County Antrim Shield in the 2024-25 season, their first trophy in five years.

Union Berlin head coach Mauro **** rinelli acknowledged that his side's continued defensive problems extend well beyond one system or one centre-back partnership after Friday evening's 1-3 home defeat against Schalke 04. The result leaves Union with one point from their opening three Bundesliga fixtures and, considerably more concerningly, ten goals conceded.
Lustrinelli's side opened the campaign with a chaotic 3-3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt before suffering a comprehensive 4-0 away defeat at Bayer Leverkusen last weekend. Schalke then became the third consecutive opponent to exploit a defensive unit still attempting to adjust to significant tactical and personnel changes.
"It's a lot of small things," **** rinelli told Sky Germany when asked about the ten goals conceded. "We're too undisciplined. We're not keeping up with the opponent. And the opponent profits. They exploit it. And we need too many chances to score goals. The two things are decisive over the course of 90 minutes."
The warning signs predate the Bundesliga campaign.
GGFN highlighted Union's defensive instability throughout preseason, with **** rinelli experimenting with multiple formations while attempting to move the club away from the three-centre-back structures that had defined the era of Urs Fischer and his successors.

For Real Madrid, meanwhile, it was a performance at the other end of the pitch which proved enough for a spot amongst UEFA's coveted XI, after Thibaut Courtois conjured up a whole host of brilliant saves to hold Inter at bay.

Manchester City open their Champions League campaign at Porto on Tuesday, with Enzo Maresca taking charge of a European fixture for the club for the first time.
City arrive on the back of three straight Premier League wins, though a three-day turnaround before Sunday's Manchester derby is likely to shape his selection.
Porto have never beaten City in a competitive meeting, but their unbeaten start to the season and vociferous home support make the Estádio do Dragão an awkward opening ******* ignment.
Nico O'Reilly is a serious doubt for Tuesday's trip to Portugal after suffering a back injury in the warm-up before Saturday's win over Coventry City, forcing Enzo Fernandez into an unplanned full debut. Jeremy Doku remains sidelined with the calf problem that has kept him out of City's opening three Premier League fixtures.
Iliman Ndiaye was withdrawn in the 87th minute of his own debut with cramp, though the issue is not considered serious and he should be available for selection. With O'Reilly a doubt and Doku out, Maresca's options in wide areas are reduced to Phil Foden, Rayan Cherki and Antoine ******* yo.

Hamburger SV head coach Merlin Polzin offered no excuses after his heavily rebuilt side suffered a horrendous 0-5 home defeat to Mainz 05 on Sunday afternoon.
Hamburg entered their first home Bundesliga fixture of the season looking to respond to their 2-0 opening-day defeat away at Borussia Dortmund. Instead, the afternoon developed into one of the club's worst top-flight home performances in decades.
Sunday's defeat also leaves Polzin's side without either a point or a goal after two league fixtures.
"The result speaks for itself," Polzin remarked in his opening press-conference statement. "It was a totally **** afternoon for us. It was a thoroughly deserved loss. There's no need to sugarcoat anything or attempt to explain anything so soon after the game when the emotions are still running high."
The scale of the defeat proved particularly striking given how aggressively Hamburg strengthened their squad during the closing stages of the summer transfer window. The club entered the season with several unresolved personnel questions, many of which were examined in GGFN's 2026/27 tactical preview of Hamburg.

Hugo Larsson's first appearance for Fulham has already converted the Swedish midfielder's loan move from Eintracht Frankfurt into a permanent transfer. Kicker reports that the purchase obligation contained within the agreement was triggered when Larsson made his Premier League debut during Saturday's 3-2 home defeat to Crystal Palace.
The 22-year-old entered in the 79th minute in place of Oscar Bobb, four days after completing his move to west London. As GGFN reported when the transfer was completed, Larsson initially joined Fulham on a season-long loan containing an obligation to buy.
Kicker now reports that the conditions attached to the clause required only a first competitive appearance. Frankfurt are therefore set to receive €22m for the midfielder. Larsson's debut could not prevent Fulham from suffering their third Premier League defeat of the new campaign. Álvaro Arbeloa's side remain without a point after three league fixtures.
Larsson leaves Germany after three years with Eintracht. The Sweden international joined Frankfurt from boyhood club Malmö FF in the summer of 2023 and quickly established himself as an important member of the Bundesliga side's midfield.
He departs having made 119 competitive appearances across the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and European competition, scoring ten goals. Larsson remained under contract with Frankfurt through 2029, but both parties ultimately opted for a separation this summer.

Uefa has banned Fenerbahce midfielder Matteo Guendouzi for his team's opening two Champions League fixtures following a series of provocations and insults during a chaotic play-off victory away at Lyon last month.
The 27-year-old, previously a player for Lyon's major rivals Marseille, found himself at the centre of unrest before and after Fenerbahce's 2-1 win on 26 August, which included a mass brawl.

Guendouzi, who previously made 82 appearances for ****** nal between 2018 and 2020, is set to sit out Fenerbahce's home encounter against Roma next Thursday alongside their trip to Aston Villa on 14 October.
