The results are in from our SB Nation Reacts survey for this week, ladies and gentlemen, so let's take a look at what everyone thinks about our Minnesota Vikings topic for this week.
We asked you, with training camp just having gotten underway, whether or not you feel our favorite squad will be making a return to the postseason this year. 'Tis, apparently, the season for positivity around here, as the local gentry feels the purple will be playing into mid-January rather than just the early portions of it.
Of those who responded to our survey, a full 80% feel that the Vikings will make a return to the playoffs this season after a one-year hiatus. More of you feel that they'll be joining the playoff field as a Wild Card team than as the NFC North division champion, with 44% of our respondents saying the Vikings will make the postseason as a Wild Card team and 36% saying they'll win the NFC North for the first time since 2022. And there are 20% of you who responded that believe the Vikings will miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season.
I do think the Vikings will make their way back to the playoffs this season, and I do think it's more likely they'll be there as a Wild Card than as a division champ. I expect the NFC North to, once again, be among the toughest divisions in the NFL this season, and even though the Vikings were. . .in theory. . .one botched kickoff return away from winning the NFC North last season, the margin for error is going to be pretty slim again this year. Have the Vikings made enough of the necessary changes to get over the hump and get to the top of the division? Obviously, we don't know what role injuries are going to play around the division yet, either.
Here's hoping that our optimism isn't misplaced when it comes to our postseason hopes for the 2026 season. We're a little less than two weeks away from seeing an actual football game involving our favorite team, albeit one that doesn't count for anything other than seeing who will take some of the spots at the bottom of the roster. I, for one, will just be happy to see it.

The Toronto Blue Jays have traded starting pitcher Kevin Gausman to the Chicago Cubs, signaling a sell-off at the MLB trade deadline months after they took the Dodgers to extra innings in Game 7 of the World Series.
The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Mitch Bannon reported the trade on Sunday, hours before Monday's 6 p.m. ET trade deadline. In return, according to the report, the Blue Jays will receive outfielder Brett Bateman and infielder Ty Southisene, both prospects.
The move in part cements a season of disappointment for the Blue Jays, who started 2026 with hopes of competing for the AL East ******* le and returning to the postseason. Instead, they've entered the stretch run in last place in the division at 52-60 with long-shot hopes of competing for a wild-card spot.
Whether the Blue Jays would be sellers at the deadline or hold steady for a shot at the postseason was unclear before the All-Star break. But they lost five of their first six games coming out of the break, including three to the AL East-leading Tampa Bay Rays.
Gausman is playing on the final season of a five-year, $110 million contract. He was a prime candidate for a deadline deal to a contending team seeking a contributor with an expiring contract.

The Green Bay Packers entered a new era in 2023 when they transitioned from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love at quarterback, spending the next few years getting younger and looking to establish a new core for a championship run.
Now, the next chapter has arrived, as spearheaded by general manager Brian Gutekunst, Green Bay has committed to a whole host of players who will carry the team's Super Bowl hopes for the foreseeable future.

The New York Yankees were only seen as a fringe contender for ace pitcher Tarik Skubal before his deal to the Los Angeles Dodgers, but the Bronx Bombers could be losing out on a much more attainable target as well.
Skubal was dealt to the Dodgers in one of the biggest MLB trades in years, the first time since 2023 that a reigning Cy Young winner was dealt during the season. Kevin Durant has high hopes for the Philadelphia 76ers after they added LeBron James in free agency.
Durant was the central piece of one of the greatest superteams in modern NBA history, winning two ****** les in a three-year stint with the Golden State Warriors from 2016 to 2019.
However, Durant believes there finally might be a team with a similarly stacked roster after the 76ers announced the signing of LeBron.

Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic is in Europe this offseason, spending time with his daughters while rehabilitating from his hamstring injury.

Despite talk about Doncic possibly coming back in time for the playoffs, the Slovenian and the Lakers decided against being irresponsible and held him out.

The Baltimore Ravens aren't simply installing a new offense this summer. They're establishing a new culture on that side of the ball. When the organization hired Declan Doyle as offensive coordinator, it wasn't just looking for fresh ideas and playbooks. It was looking for someone capable of leading an offense built around Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry and one of the NFL's deepest collections of skill-position talent.
That responsibility extends well beyond calling plays on Sundays. Speaking with reporters after practice, Doyle shared the philosophy he hopes will define his first season directing Baltimore's offense. Rather than focusing on formations or scheme, he centered his vision around communication, accountability and relationships.
Declan Doyle wants players coached the way he once hoped to be taught. Doyle explained that his approach has been shaped by experiences accumulated throughout more than a decade in the NFL.
"This is my 11th year getting to coach, and obviously I've had different jobs in that whole process. When I started coaching, I always wanted to be the coach that I wanted to have, and that was one that is a clear communicator, holds you to a high standard, is knowledgeable and is able to help you. That really is what I'm trying to convey every day, that we're in the boat with them. It's not like, 'Hey, me versus you.' It's like me and you together, and we're trying to accomplish what we say we're going to accomplish."
Those comments help explain why so many Ravens players have spoken throughout training camp about accountability and attention to detail. Doyle isn't trying to create an environment where players fear making mistakes. He's trying to build one where coaches and players work together to correct them before they become problems on game day.

Northern Ireland Football League [NIFL] chief executive Gerard Lawlor says he hopes to discuss summer football with clubs before Christmas, with a view to a vote over changing the Irish League calendar as soon as the 2028-29 season.
Earlier in the week, Coleraine manager Ruaidhri Higgins said it is "a worry" that Irish Premiership sides will never improve in Europe without a switch to summer football after his side became the third Premiership team to bow out of the qualifiers.
The Irish Premiership currently sits 51st in the Uefa coefficient system and could lose their fourth European spot if Larne, the only Northern Irish team left in the qualifiers, are knocked out before the group stages.
Lawlor has long been an advocate of summer football, something which has long been a discussion point within football in Northern Ireland.
"There will be a vote somewhere," Lawlor told Sportsound on BBC Radio Ulster.

As per journalist Ben Jacobs, Parrott is being watched by Real Betis in La Liga and Como in Serie A. PSV are also said to have inquired about Parrott, but the amount AZ is demanding appears to be higher than the Philips Stadion residents will pay.
Jacobs has also mentioned Ajax, but Tolu Arokodare's signing from Wolverhampton Wanderers has taken them out of the running. The 24-year-old Parrott is under contract in Alkmaar until 2029, and AZ hopes to receive a large fee.

It sounds like the stars are aligning for a high-profile PFL women's flyweight ***** le fight – it's just a matter of when.
"I've talked to her," Martin told reporters Friday after PFL New York at UBS Arena in Elmont, N.Y. (h/t Home of Fight). "She wants to stay busy. She's been out of the cage for a year. I think in the first round tonight, we saw her kind of feel Denise (Kielholtz), and there was a little bit of cage rust, maybe. But she got over that really quickly. The Cleveland Browns are building a $2.4 billion domed stadium that's set to open in 2029. They're also building a roster ownership hopes can make up a contending playoff team in 2027.
But JW Johnson, a partner of the Haslam Sports Group, emphasized Friday in a news conference alongside owner Jimmy Haslam that Cleveland isn't punting on the 2026 season "by any means."
"We're excited about how we're going to play, and we'll see how the schedule shakes out," said Johnson, the husband of Jimmy and Dee Haslam's daughter Whitney. There was little in the way of coaches doing the wrong thing, but the changeover from Gary Moeller to Lloyd Carr showed that the Wolverines weren't fully impervious to that. Thus, after Moore's dismissal for having an inappropriate relationship with his ****** istant, Paige Shiver, the program hired Kyle Whittingham from Utah, who's known for running a tight, clean ship.
And Whittingham said in his Big Ten media days press conference that the team is ready to put the past in the past and go forth with a clean record.
"They're hungry and ready to get back into a season and get into some football again," Whittingham said. "They've been through a lot the last four or five years, but hopefully we can put the drama to bed and just get back to being student-athletes and having a great college experience."

The Guernsey pair recovered from a 5-0 deficit after the first two ends against Malta to win the first set 6-5 in Glasgow.
They then took a 5-0 lead in the second set which they did not relinquish as they went on to win 9-3.

CHICAGO — Indiana football left tackle Carter Smith took plenty of pride in representing his team at Big Ten Media Days on Thursday.
He had just as much reason to be excited about the return trip home.
Before IU opens fall camp on Wednesday, Smith will visit the doctor in hopes of getting the all clear to return to practice.
"Just waiting for the final call," Smith said.
