Kyler Gordon was the talk of the town today as he continues to not be healthy enough to play. Spidey opens up training camp on the Physically Unable to Participate list. Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson were understandably frustrated. According to them, he has done everything he has needed to do this off-season to prepare and get healthy, but when asked about what his message has been to Kyler Gordon, Ben Johnson succinctly said: "Get healthy."
A healthy Kyler goes a long way for this team. But your best ability is availability, so it remains to be seen if he sees out his recently inked contract just a year ago.
Joining Kyler on PUP are TJ Edwards, Elijah Hicks, Keyshaun Elliott, and Montez Sweat, but none of them are expected to be long-term.

The Chicago Bears opened training camp today, and with everyone reporting to Halas Hall, they made two more roster moves by placing defensive end Montez Sweat on the Active/Non-Football Illness list and safety Elijah Hicks on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list.
Sweat joins linebacker T.J. Edwards on the NFI list, and much like T.J., Sweat's stay isn't expected to be long. Earlier today, general manager Ryan Poles said Edwards injured his calf during offseason training and is expected back soon, calling it "nothing major." Sweat's illness is expected to keep him away for a few days.
Hicks reported some shin discomfort when reporting, so his start to camp will be delayed a bit. He joins nickelback Kyler Gordon, linebackers Keyshaun Elliott and Noah Sewell, offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo, and defensive lineman Shemar Turner on the PUP list.
Poles said Gordon spent the entire offseason at Halas Hall to make sure he was ready, but there has been a "delay" in his recovery. This latest issue is with this calf, and there is no timetable to return.

A year ago, the Bears signed cornerback Kyler Gordon to a three-year, $40 million contract extension. They didn't get much for their investment.
Gordon played in just three games last season as he struggled with groin, hamstring and calf injuries. Now he's on the physically unable to perform list to start training camp, and Bears General Manager Ryan Poles says everyone in Chicago is getting frustrated.
"Kyler Gordon on PUP, with his calf, he was here all offseason training, getting right. We had a delay in that. All hands on deck to get him back," Poles said. "He's frustrated, we're frustrated. We just want him back. He helps our football team. But we have to move forward with the guys we have, and when he's ready to go he'll be ready to go. Everybody here is putting all their time and effort to get him back right."
Asked how much time Gordon will miss, Poles said there's no word on that.
"I really don't know. He's got to get right and the important thing we've all talked about is when he gets back he's got to stay back," Poles said. "When he gets back he's got to earn that trust back."

When it comes to Chicago Bears cornerback Kyler Gordon, the one word that encapsulates his current injury situation is "frustration."
Gordon, a former second-round pick, was hampered by soft tissue injuries last season, playing in just three regular-season games with two stints on injured reserve. After playing in two postseason games, the arrow was pointed up for Gordon, who's elevated the defense when he's on the field.
But Gordon suffered yet another soft tissue injury -- a calf injury, as confirmed by general manager Ryan Poles -- that held him out of the offseason program and has him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list to start training camp. There's also no current timetable for his return.
"Obviously, he's frustrated," Poles said Tuesday. "We're frustrated. Everybody here is putting their time and effort into getting him back."
Head coach Ben Johnson hasn't been shy when it comes to voicing his frustration with Gordon, making it clear that his lack of availability has been a problem. On report day, Johnson had a message to Gordon as he starts the summer injured.

Those beginning to worry about the renewed chip stock rout may find comfort in the fact that the broader markets are holding up very well.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) is still trading near record highs and above all key moving averages, per Yahoo Finance AlphaSpace data. The S&P 500 (^GSPC) is holding above its 100-day and 200-day moving averages, but late last week it slipped below the 50-day.
A few factors are preventing the chip stock pullback from harming the broader market, according to Charles Schwab strategist Kevin Gordon. However, investors should be on the lookout for whether these trends reverse.
'You've got essentially two-thirds of S&P 500 companies that are trading above their 200-day moving average. That's relatively healthy and still consistent with the market that is more rotational in nature and not necessarily one that is correctional," Gordon said on Yahoo Finance's Opening Bid.
The equal-weighted index and cyclical stocks have all signaled a strong economy, he explained. "And when you do look at the reaction of the market to some of these earnings beats, most of the pressure and most of the underperformance has been concentrated in the tech sector. Outside of that, when you look at financials or industrials or consumer discretionary, the reaction in the market has actually been positive."

Barcelona have completed two summer signings so far, bringing in Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United and Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund.
The former is still away on holiday as he continues to recover after an impressive World Cup, but Adeyemi is already with Barça and training with the team.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the German attacker is expected to make his first appearance as a Barcelona player this Friday after Hansi Flick decided that he is ready for match action.
Adeyemi will debut against Birmingham City after completing another productive week of training during Barcelona's pre-season camp at St George's Park in England.
The 24-year-old was named on the bench for Barcelona's friendly against CE Europa last week after arriving with limited training behind him.

Ramsay-Peaty’s heat was temporarily halted as he was on the blocks when a lane divider broke off, requiring an official to strip to the waist and enter the pool to reconnect it.
Ramsay-Peaty duly wasted no time in recording the fastest time of the morning, 59.46 seconds, with only two rivals, Australia’s Sam Williamson and Filip Nowacki of Jersey, also finishing in under a minute.

Even though he gave up a home run, lefthander Lucas Gordon put together a decent enough start for Birmingham to win the game, but the bullpen couldn't hold up its end of the bargain. Gordon surrendered three runs on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts, but Pierce George gave up a game-tying double followed by a go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth that immediately sent their chances of winning off a cliff.
The Barons outhit Montgomery, 10-6, with 60% of those mashed for extra bases: four doubles and two home runs. B-ham went 2-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left five on base, and the Biscuits were nearly identical on that front except they left four on instead. Anthony DePino (one) and Colby Shelton (two) accounted for three of the four two-baggers and posted two hits apiece. INDIANAPOLIS — Five-time Brickyard 400 winner Jeff Gordon has returned to one of the most important places in his racing life — this time as the centerpiece of history.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum has opened "Jeff Gordon," its newest rotating exhibition, marking the first time the museum has dedicated an entire exhibit to a single NASCAR driver. The exhibit traces Gordon's journey from quarter midgets and sprint cars to becoming a four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and the winningest driver in Brickyard 400 history.
"It's more than a dream come true," Gordon said. "You just hope as a young kid who becomes a race car driver that you get to do it professionally, that you can have success doing it professionally, and do it as long as possible and stay healthy doing it. I got to do that and a whole lot more."
Open through February, the exhibit features 13 race cars spanning every stage of Gordon's career, more than 70 helmets and never-before-displayed artifacts, including his first bicycle racing trophy, the first Jeff Gordon T-shirt, the firesuit from his first sprint car victory and the Williams Formula One steering wheel he used during his 2003 seat swap with Juan Pablo Montoya at IMS.
"I look at this room and walk through the timeline, and that's what comes back is just all the dreams and the hard work and everything paying off," Gordon said.

One of the biggest things we've been talking about this offseason is Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. After leading his team to the NFC Championship in 2024 and earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, the 2025 season fell flat. Injuries derailed the entire team, including Daniels, who now has a lot to prove.
It's one of the major storylines around the Commanders as a whole: The way Daniels performs in 2026 will dictate the direction of the organization. NFL.com's Grant Gordon recently discussed this as one of the team's top storylines.
There's a lot to accomplish for Jayden Daniels this summer following a disastrous 2025 season. The Commanders sputtered, and the 2024 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year missed 10 games due to injuries, going just 2-5 in the games he played. How Daniels looks and feels after sustaining a sprained knee, strained hamstring and dislocated left elbow is tops on the agenda. He also needs to get acclimated to David Blough's offense, which will see Daniels taking snaps under center far more now that his former ***** istant QB coach is his offensive coordinator after two seasons with Kliff Kingsbury in that role. Daniels is also in the latest season of Netflix's Quarterback series. All eyes and a heap of responsibility will be on Daniels. How he bounces back -- and how well he adapts to a new offense -- could be the story of the Commanders' season.
Last season was the polar opposite of Daniels' 2024 season. His injuries hampered the team's efforts, and it certainly didn't help that there were a slew of injuries along the rest of the roster, too.
With a new offensive coordinator and a new offensive scheme, Daniels should have a better shot at staying healthy this season. Blough likes the passing game and will do everything in his power to keep Daniels in the pocket. Sure, there will be some scrambles and designed runs, but for the most part, the idea is to keep Daniels behind the line of scrimmage.

According to SPORT, Barcelona have postponed the official announcement of their second signing of the summer, with Karim Adeyemi set to be confirmed and unveiled on Thursday, July 23, after several days of administrative delays.

Newcastle United's summer has quickly become a study in modern football tension, ambition on one side, regulation and market forces on the other. In the latest The Athletic DealSheet, the picture that emerges around Newcastle is sobering, detailed and deeply revealing. This is a club still striving to grow under Eddie Howe, yet also one discovering that progress in elite football rarely runs in a straight line.
There is no shortage of intent at St James' Park. There is, however, a shortage of room for error. Missing out on Europe has bitten hard. The competitive consequences are obvious, but the financial aftershock may prove even more significant. As reported, "Failing to get back into the Champions League or any form of UEFA competition for 2026-27 has massively hit Newcastle's revenue streams, costing the club an estimated £60m in annual income." That sentence alone explains much of the club's current caution, compromise and calculation.
Supporters will understandably focus first on names, on who is arriving, who is leaving, who has chosen somewhere else. Yet this summer for Newcastle is about more than an individual target won or lost. It is about status, financial architecture and whether the club can keep building while burdened by the very restrictions that tend to accompany accelerated ambition.
The Athletic's reporting makes clear that Newcastle are not operating with the freedom many supporters might **** ume ownership wealth should bring. "Despite not being in Europe for the upcoming campaign, Newcastle are still being governed by the strict future-compliance settlement they have reached with UEFA," a line that cuts to the centre of the issue. Money exists in theory, but not all of it can be deployed as fans might wish.
This is why recent sales matter so much. The departures of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali were not football decisions in isolation, they were structural ones. According to the report, "Offloading Gordon ensured Newcastle would avoid a further breach, while Tonali's sale gives the club far greater scope to invest more widely across the squad this summer." Newcastle's transfer business cannot be judged without understanding that context. It is not simply a question of whether the recruitment team likes a player, or whether Howe sees a fit. It is also whether the wider framework allows action.

Harry Kane's international future has become a topic of discussion, and expert tipster Mark O'Haire believes England's captain may have more years left than many expect. Tipster Mark O'Haire using Grosvenor Sport's World Cup odds said that he could see Kane take one more run at it.
"Harry Kane's 32 now, so he'll be 36 come the next World Cup. Ordinarily, you would say he'll probably be retired from international football or be moved aside, but he'll have seen the sort of longevity of others like (Lionel) Messi and (Cristiano) Ronaldo. Maybe he wants to leave that door open. Maybe he feels like there's unfinished business as well. Obviously with the home EUROs on the way, there's an incentive to stick around a little bit longer. I think what's also worth noting is England are really lacking depth in the center forward position. Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney are both in their 30s," O'Haire stated. "Liam Delap is the only real option below 30 kind of playing top level football who's English qualified, so it's quite a concerning picture for the long-term future of English football actually in terms of replacements if he was to retire or walk away now.
"You would be looking at Watkins, although (Marcus) Rashford and (Anthony) Gordon have the potential to lead the line, it's not necessarily their favoured position, but they have done it in the past for club and country. Gordon did it at the underage group, the under 21s I believe, when England won the last under-21 EUROs, he played as a sort of false nine, leading the center forward position, but it's definitely an area without significant depth right now, which would need to be addressed long-term. Not many expected Messi to be playing in the World Cup at 39 or Ronaldo at 40, so potentially there is still opportunity for Kane to stick around a little bit longer, but it's certainly a position that needs to be addressed."
It is an interesting ******* sment. Kane has shown no signs of slowing down at Bayern Munich, and with a home European Championship in 2028 plus England's lack of proven replacements up front, there are legitimate reasons to believe the country's all-time leading scorer could continue wearing the Three Lions shirt well beyond what many originally expected.

The school announced that Kayla Gordon, who spent the last two seasons as an ******* istant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Mississippi, as the program's next head coach on July 14. She replaces longtime coach Clenita Bedford, who went 180-153 in 12 seasons leading the Pirates. PSC finished 15-14 in 2025-26.
“Kayla’s experience as a highly accomplished student-athlete, professional and coach obviously brings tremendous value. She holds records as a Division I student-athlete and as a professional player, and she has coaching experience in the Southeastern Conference. The resume itself is impressive, but what stood out the most to us was her passion for developing young women,” Pensacola State College Athletic Director Bryan Lewallyn wrote in a press release announcing the hire.
“All the feedback we received kept coming back the same: she invests in and develops young women to be women of integrity and character because that’s who she is. She shares our commitment to developing leaders who excel in competition, in the classroom and in life. We are excited to welcome Kayla to PSC as the leader of our women’s basketball program.”
A Meridian, Mississippi native, Gordon helped ******* emble one of the nation's top recruiting classes in her time at Ole Miss, helping lead the Rebels to NCAA Tournament appearances in both seasons, including a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2024-25. Before coming to Ole Miss, she spent three seasons at the coaching staff of her alma mater, Jacksonville University, as an ******* istant coach and recruiting coordiantor.

Today in Boston Celtics history, the team officially signed All-Star veteran forward Gordon Hayward from the Utah Jazz in free agency, following a dispute that went down on the Fourth of July holiday regarding his departure from the Jazz after conflicting reports clouded the picture. The Butler alum's contract, which spanned four years and was valued at $128 million with a player option for the final year, started under gruesome circumstances that required several seasons for Hayward to overcome.
A devastating injury to his ankle ended Hayward’s first season with Boston just a few minutes into the 2018-19 NBA season. The Indiana native worked diligently over the next two seasons to get back to his old self and abilities. The fact that Hansi Flick was the German manager who handed Karim Adeyemi his debut in the national team should be more than enough for culers to accept that the former knows exactly what he's doing by landing the 24-year-old from Borussia Dortmund.
Formerly at RB Salzburg, he took the same route out as Erling Haaland, and whilst the latter has moved on to Manchester City, all of the news reports suggest that Adeyemi will soon be unveiled by Barcelona, with all but the formalities to be ironed out.
Although one could suggest the player isn't a 'headline grabber' for want of a better phrase, he is, nonetheless, an exciting, albeit inconsistent, talent.
His pace certainly isn't in question, and given the recent hire of Anthony Gordon, who is also a bit of a speedster, that may not be a coincidence.
What's also very much in Adeyemi's favour is that he can play in all three positions across the front line, and that type of versatility is rare in football in this day and age.
