Ana de Armas brought dazzling high-fashion glamour to Paris as she attended the prestigious La Légion d'Honneur ceremony. The actress captivated onlookers by stepping out in an archival Louis Vuitton creation by Nicolas Ghesquière. Styled by Samantha McMillen, her shimmering look seamlessly blended rock-and-roll glam with classic French sophistication.
Ana de Armas selected a striking black sequin micro minidress from the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2015 runway collection. Designed by creative director Nicolas Ghesquière, the archival garment featured a high rounded collar and structured shoulders.
Intricate lace-like sequin patterns covered the entire fabric, shimmering with every slight movement. Fitted long sleeves balanced the ultra-short hemline that barely skimmed her thighs. Thousands of delicate black sequins caught the room's warm lights, creating a dramatic metallic sheen.
Her expert beauty team complemented the bold dress with effortless styling choices. Stylist Samantha McMillen chose the vintage piece, while Owen Gould styled Ana's brunette hair in soft waves. Makeup artist Charlotte Prevel completed the look with a luminous complexion, subtle liner, and nude gloss.
The actress posed indoors before stepping out to the official Paris event. Standing near a tall glass door, she looked straight into the camera lens with calm confidence. Her reflection behind her showed off the snug fit and detailed craftsmanship from every angle.

It was already public knowledge that there was one bidder for an NBA expansion team in Seattle: One Roof Sports and Entertainment, the majority owner of the NHL's Seattle Kraken, led by Samantha Holloway.
Now, there is a second, reports Christian Clark and John Hollinger of The Athletic:
BlackSun Private Equity, a New York-based firm that in August submitted a bid to bring the NBA back to Seattle, is working with the Tulalip Tribes to build the arena on tribal-owned land if it secures the franchise.
Those new arena plans would be in Marysville, Washington, which is about 35 miles from Seattle. The plans are not just to build an arena but also an "entertainment district" on the tribal lands. The challenge would be making the commute relatively easy and convincing people in Seattle proper to make the trip out to Marysville.
Both potential ownership groups have been eager to say they want to bring a team to stay in the Seattle area, after the previous SuperSonics were bought and moved to Oklahoma City in 2008.

Blackbird, one of the longest-running venture capital funds in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), has fully closed its sixth fund at a record A$1.05 billion (about $740 million).
The Sydney-based VC drew re-commitments from Australian sovereign and superannuation investors, including the Future Fund, Aware Super, HESTA and Hostplus. It also received cheques from new LPs from the US and Asia, including Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Adams Street Partners, and Schroders.
This is among the region's largest VC fund closes, as institutional LPs flock to large, established investors amid a flight to quality.
According to Blackbird general partner Samantha Wong, the venture firm has distributed $1.4 billion on a total of $2.1 billion invested across half a dozen transactions since its 2012 inception.
Most of these exits took place in the past few years, with secondaries playing a major role, she added.

For months, Kyle Busch had wanted to make this night happen.
He had talked about the idea with excitement, worked behind the scenes to bring it together and envisioned a night that celebrated the kind of racing he never stopped loving, no matter how far his career took him.
On Friday night at Bowman Gray Stadium, the Kyle Busch Invitational finally became real.
Kyle wasn't there to see it.
Instead, three months after his death at age 41, Samantha Busch stood on the grid with their 11-year-old son, Brexton, and tried to put into words what it meant to see one of her husband's ideas come to life without him.

American actress and star of Heroes and Nashville, Hayden Panettiere has died at 36-no cause of death has been made available at this time.
Known for her TV roles as Claire Bennet on the series Heroes and Juliette Barnes on Nashville, and played Kirby Reed in the Scream franchise-Hayden Panettiere has died at the age of 36 on Sunday, August 16, 2026. ABC News was the first to report on the news, with which her family's representative provided a statement. Panettiere died in South Carolina, and the investigation into her death is still "ongoing"-according to her representative. Panettiere's father asked for privacy "as our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss."
"It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden," her father, Alan Lee "Skip" Panettiere, said in a statement to ABC News on Sunday. "She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her-and to the millions who watched her onscreen." While many know Hayden Panettiere for her roles in Heroes and Nashville, she was also remembered in other films: A Bug's Life, Remember the ****** ans, I Love You, Beth Cooper, Raising Helen, Ice Princess, Scream 4, and Scream 6.
In the video game world, Hayden Panettiere is widely known to voice Kairi in Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, and Birth by Sleep. She also voiced Xion in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. This is especially tragic, as Kingdom Hearts IV news was just announced at D23 2026. One of the most surprising VA roles for Panettiere in a video game was Supermassive Games' Until Dawn, where she voiced and had her likeness used for the character Samantha "Sam" Giddings. Her performance enhance and push the interactive drama, survival-horror genre across the video games industry.
Panettiere has been quite honest about her struggles from childhood stardom, going into adulthood. She released a memoir this past May called This Is Me: A Reckoning. In the memoir, she shared "a rare and intimate glimpse into her life behind closed doors, opening up about postpartum depression, addiction and recovery, trauma, domestic abuse, and loss," according to a synopsis for her book. In recent interviews and in the memoir, she spoke on her difficulties following her role on Nashville.

Dorit Kemsley has scored a temporary win in her latest court fight with estranged husband PK Kemsley. Their divorce has become increasingly tense as the former couple battles over money and their family home.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star opposed PK's emergency effort to put the property on the market. For now, the court is not ordering an immediate sale.
A judge declined PK's emergency request to list the six-bedroom, 10-bathroom Los Angeles home, TMZ reported. Dorit's attorney, Samantha Spector, argued that the situation did not require emergency action. The court agreed that the sale did not need to move forward immediately. The issue is not over. The court will revisit the dispute at another hearing on Aug. 26.
PK has argued that the home faces foreclosure and needs to be sold before the former couple loses more equity. He has also said that he covered the bills for months after moving out. According to PK, he later stopped paying after getting his own home.
Dorit has challenged that account. She says PK has enough money to bring the overdue payments current. She also argues that he should continue covering household costs because he has not been paying formal child or spousal support.

Samantha Morton has opened up about her turbulent, traumatic childhood.
The Odyssey star described some of the hardships ***** ociated with growing up in "foster families, homeless hostels".
Samantha, who plays Circe in Christopher Nolan's blockbuster epic, explained she had had no choice but to become "resilient" after her parents, who suffered from mental health and addiction problems, struggled to support her and her seven siblings.
"Someone told me I was resilient when I was younger," the actress, 49, told The Sunday Times. "But sometimes you've got no choice other than to be resilient because if you are not you're dead."
The BAFTA winner said she had spent her younger years in unstable accommodation, including stints of homelessness.
"I went pillar to post with foster families, homeless hostels, sleeping by the bins at the back of the Co-op, because it was too dangerous to go back to the children's home because of the abuse," Samantha recalled.

When you are reading this, we will be TWO WEEKS AWAY from the start of the Marquette women's soccer season!
We'll do a lot more season previewing as we get closer to the start of action, but for now, we have to beat the league office to the punch. Last year, we got the preseason Big East awards just a couple of days before the Golden Eagles got going with their season. That means we have to get waaaaaay out in front of the official results of the polling of the league's women's soccer coaches and make some picks for who is going to get honored as the season gets started. My guiding light on these picks is, as always, trying to predict how the coaches will vote. I have my own preferences as to how things should turn out, but at the end of the day, the goal is to try to get these right.
Okay, let's jump right into it, as we've got three individual awards to discuss, as well as a preseason all-conference team and a predicted order of finish for all 11 teams in the Big East!
These things don't have to be complicated: Kohls is the leading returning point scorer in the Big East this season. She had six goals and eight ***** ists last season for the Musketeers for a total of 20 points. Here's the catch: Since the last time the Big East updated the stats for last season was on November 10th, before the NCAA tournament started, Kohls was tied for eighth in total points a year ago and tied for ninth in points per game. She's still the best returning player. Part of that is because there were A LOT of seniors on the All-Big East teams last fall, and another part is because two players in front of Kohls transferred after the season was over. That includes her own teammate, Samantha Erbach, who was the top scorer in the Big East last year with 18 goals and 16 ***** ists, but now she's at Florida State.
I'm going by the points and points per game here, because I value the contribution of ***** ists to offensive production. Sometimes the coaches don't agree with me on that topic, and so I should note that the Big East's top returning goal scorer from last season is Marquette's Jocelyn Leigh, who finished the year with seven. That was tied for eighth in the league in total goals and alone in sixth for goals per game as of the last time the league ran the stat sheet. Marquette was third in the Big East in team goals for as of November 10th with only Georgetown and Xavier in front of them, so there's an argument for Leigh to get the nod here.

So, just as I wrapped up Lupita Nyong'o's The Odyssey press tour, a new look has emerged.
Santi Ramales / BACKGRID Courtesy of Carolina Herrera
We saw Samantha Morton's after-party look following the New York premiere, but Lupita's had remained under wraps until now.
The actress was spotted heading into the celebration wearing a Carolina Herrera Resort 2026 mini dress embroidered with intricate gold motifs against a black base.
The intricate embroidery has an ornamental quality that recalls the decorative friezes and motifs ******* ociated with ancient Greek art. That may not have been the collection's inspiration, but in the context of The Odyssey, it felt like a fitting visual connection.

LAS VEGAS — Like the process itself, news on the NBA's updated plans for expansion doesn't come rushing out like water from a fire hose. More like measured amounts from a faucet, somewhat slow and steady, making sure it doesn't overflow the glass.
Commissioner Adam Silver did address expansion during his meeting with reporters Tuesday evening at the Thomas & Mack Center following the Board of Governors meeting in Las Vegas. And while Silver acknowledged the process remains ongoing, he gave no timetable or real update on those who are bidding for both the Las Vegas and Seattle expansion franchises, where things stand at the moment or a specific timetable as to when an announcement can be expected.
In other words, let the guessing game continue.
What Silver did say was he was optimistic the process could reach its conclusion sometime in December and that there is a deadline approaching for those interested to submit their bids with their financials to the league where its bankers will go over the individual bids before reporting back to the owners.
“I’m still hopeful this process will be wrapped up by year’s end,” Silver said, though he didn’t say when the deadline specifically was for submitting bids.
There are at least six known groups interested in obtaining the expansion rights for the Las Vegas franchise and there could be more by the time the deadline for bidding passes. Among them are some familiar names — Jerry Colangelo, Bill Foley, Magic Johnson, Bob Iger, Marc Lasry — that intend to vie for the rights to bring the NBA here. All claim they have the funding to meet the NBA’s price tag, which at minimum is expected to be $8 billion. All except Foley have plans to construct an arena to house the Las Vegas team while Foley is prepared to invest $300 million in upgrades to T-Mobile Arena, home to his NHL Vegas Golden Knights and a facility he owns 15 percent of.
In Seattle, the lone bidder to go public so far is Samantha Holloway, chairperson of the ownership group of the Seattle Kraken and has Bill Gates’ former wife Melinda as an investor. The Kraken ownership group also owns the majority interest in Climate Pledge Arena, where the basketball team would likely play. Silver did caution that there is additional interest in both Seattle and Las Vegas from parties which have not yet made their intentions public.
But it’s here in Las Vegas where the intrigue is. The NBA owners are well versed in knowing Colangelo from his days with the Phoenix Suns, Lasry from his time owning the Milwaukee Bucks, Magic Johnson from his prior connection to the Lakers (he also is part of the current ownership of the WNBA’s L.A. Sparks) and some of the owners know Foley through the NHL. So there are few surprises when it comes to vetting these potential ownership groups.
“It gives me a lot of confidence to see first-hand the amount of interest in the game in Las Vegas,” Silver said. “In terms of the process for potential expansion here, multi

Gold's (GC=F) disappointing performance over the past four months may not signal the end of the precious metal's rally this year.
"Gold is not done," Goldman Sachs co-head of global commodities research Samantha Dart said in a note on Sunday evening.
Noting the precious metal has gained 123% since 2022, Dart and her team wrote, "we continue to see further upside, driven by both structural and eventually cyclical factors."
"Structurally, EM central bank diversification — following the 2022 freezing of Russia's reserves — remains the anchor of our $4,900/toz end 2026 forecast," said Dart.
The researchers also noted that a recent World Gold Council survey said a record 45% of the 76 central banks surveyed between February and May expect to increase their own gold reserves over the next 12 months.

Rishi Patel has posted a message on his Instagram that seemed to hint at a major event.
The prominent wedding designer, who has previously been rumoured to be working on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding, shared an emotional announcement.
"Today, I asked 23 of my colleagues if when they started in the event industry (span of 7 to 45 years), that they would have ever dreamed or imagined they would be part of what we created today. Unanimously the answer was no.
"I can't wait to share what we created," he added, "But for now, I'm just eternally grateful for those who mean more to me than I could ever explain."
Samantha Roberts, who owns a social media agency known for its "strategic orchestration of wedding release rollouts, creating digital moments that ripple across the internet", also posted excitedly about working on the same event.
"Tonight was a career highlight," Roberts gushed. "15 years ago I came to New York because I loved events. I dreamed that one day I'd work events like the one I did tonight."

A steady rain was not about to halt Ava Cepeda's steady reign.
Cepeda, a New Mexico sophomore out of Kahuku, beat Punahou senior Samantha Monroe with a birdie on the 15th hole to capture the women's division of the Manoa Cup on Friday, completing quite a summer slam. Fresh off capturing the state amateur stroke play **** le, Cepeda blitzed the field to win match play at Oahu Country Club.
Hawaii State Golf **** ociation officials say that the only other player to win both in the same year was Tyler Ota in 2019.
"Today was fun, with the rain and everything. It was like a battle and it was good to be out there in these conditions," Cepeda said. "Its a nice relief to finally get the win."
A light rain greeted the combatants on the first tee and hung around throughout. Impervious to the weather and hilly terrain, the girl who learned the game at Kahuku Golf Course won the first two holes but lost the third when her putt lipped out. She made a slider from 9 feet on the fourth hole to stay 1-up and then buried the shot of the day on the fifth.

Greg Hamilton making a ring introduction for SmackDown.
Greg Hamilton is a storyteller.
Though the role of a ring announcer in combat sports is often overlooked, Hamilton’s role in WWE—and now in PFL—is of the utmost importance. When done correctly, ring announcers can be immortalized through nostalgia like Howard Finkel, become viral sensations in short order like Samantha Irvin or even enjoy elusive longevity like Hamilton himself, who now announces across multiple combat sports promotions.
Hamilton’s ring introduction skills have evolved over time. In WWE, he was a charismatic, if not irreverent, presence who set the tone for every match through standardized ring announcements that he made his own. Now performing ring introductions for PFL, Hamilton’s storytelling skills are on full display. Instead of the standard “location/weight/name” intros applicable to all wrestlers, Hamilton is safe to spread his wings and tell the full story of who the fighters are and why fans should care.
“There’s quite a bit that’s different [between WWE and MMA ring announcing],” said Hamilton in an exclusive interview.

A Florida woman recently found herself in a surprisingly common household debate: whether it's time to replace a smartphone.
Samantha called into "The Ramsey Show" to discuss the disagreement and said that her current iPhone is about three years old, Apple Pay no longer works, it won't connect to her Apple Watch, and it's been dropped enough times that it's showing its age. Regardless, when she brought up buying a new one, her husband wasn't convinced.
Samantha said her phone wasn't working properly anymore, and since she travels a lot for work, it was becoming a problem. But the conversation shifted when co-host George Kamel asked why she wanted a brand-new iPhone Pro that costs about $1,100.
Don't Miss:

In most years, champions of the historic Tennessean/Metro Parks Schooldays Golf Tournament on Brandt Snedeker's Tour have come close to winning in previous years.
The three-day tournament for boys and girls ages 12-17 is in its 102nd year, and winners usually qualify for match play before being eliminated, or maybe even advance to the championship before losing.
That may not be the case for the 2026 tournament. Neither of the two girls in the championship − Lyla Payne or Samantha Strothers − nor the No. 1-seeded boy − Wil Huddleston − headed into the semifinals has ever played before in the tournament.
Those three will try to win the state's longest-running golf tournament in their first attempt.
"I heard about the Schooldays from a guy at my school (Clarksville)," Payne said. "He told my grandma to sign me up for it, and I'm glad he did. I like it."

PENNSAUKEN — On the precipice of the end of her high school career, Monica Curry was feeling a little nostalgic. Curry had joined Vernon's outdoor track and field team two years ago, mainly to stay in shape for soccer. And there she was at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions on June 3, part of the new Sussex County record 4x100.
It is the third time the Vernon girls had re-set the mark, twice in just five days. The Vikings – sophomore Samantha Janus, freshman Isabella Kuzicki, Curry and senior Sophia Haw – finished fifth in 47.33 seconds.
The original mark of 48.41 had stood since 2013.
"It's really exciting," said Curry, a record-setting Vernon senior who has signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Massachusetts for soccer.
"All season, we improved. We started in the 50s. To get to the low 47s is amazing. We exceeded everything we planned."
