Jenna Dewan is headed to the Dancing with the Stars ballroom, but some fans already think she has a major advantage over the competition.
Good Morning America announced the season 35 celebrity cast and pairings on Wednesday, September 2, revealing that Dewan, 45, will compete alongside professional dancer Val Chmerkovskiy.
The casting quickly raised eyebrows because Dewan has extensive professional dance experience. Before becoming an actress, she worked as a backup dancer for stars including Janet Jackson, Missy Elliott and Christina Aguilera.
She later broke through in Hollywood opposite now-ex Channing Tatum — with whom she shares daughter Everly, 13 — in the 2006 dance film Step Up. Dewan also hosted World of Dance and previously appeared as a guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance.
Fans quickly took to social media, questioning whether Jenna's dance background gives her an unfair edge over the other contestants.

Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves in the world, and its heavy crude is particularly well suited to the sophisticated refineries lining the U.S. Gulf Coast. More Venezuelan oil should help U.S. refiners, but that doesn't translate directly into lower prices at the pump.
Trump announced Friday that the U.S. had secured majority control over Venezuelan fields containing more than 65 billion barrels of oil, saying the agreement would greatly increase U.S. supply and substantially lower gasoline prices "long into the future." On Sunday, he added another destination for Venezuelan crude, saying Washington would soon start using it to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
The deal gives the U.S. access to an enormous oil resource, but the effect on gasoline prices will depend on how much additional Venezuelan crude can actually be produced and where those barrels go.
Venezuela is currently producing roughly 1.25 million bpd, while the new projects are targeting production above 1.5 million bpd. Getting substantially beyond that will require more drilling, extensive workovers, improved infrastructure, reliableF access to diluents and significantly more drilling rigs, according to Rystad.
Venezuelan crude's role in American refining is already substantial. U.S. imports from Venezuela averaged 637,000 bpd over the four weeks through Aug. 21, according to the EIA, reaching 662,000 bpd in the latest week. Venezuela was the second-largest U.S. crude supplier behind Canada during that period. Those barrels have become more useful as the U.S.-Iran war has disrupted crude and heavy fuel oil flows from the Middle East.

Ismael Saibari recently went back to the Netherlands to officially bid his old club PSV Eindhoven goodbye after completing a move to Bayern Munich:
In this clip, a whole section of PSV fans chanted his name:
Here, you can see more pictures of Saibari inside the stadium and photos of fans holding up flags bearing the Moroccan doing his signature salute celebration:
Saibari hit the ground running for Bayern Munich, impressing the club with his performances in preseason and making an impact on his Bundesliga debut. "Isi", as he is affectionately called within the team, bagged two ****** ists in Bayern's opening match of the Bundesliga season against Stuttgart in which he ****** isted the final two goals of a 5-1 rout. In doing so, he joins a club of players who bagged a brace of ****** ists on their Bundesliga debut.
The moment he scored that equalizer on a chilly January night in Eindhoven in the Champions League, Bayern knew they had to keep tabs on him. That decision was solidified in the World Cup after the 24-year-old shone on the world stage for Morocco. Bayern worked extensively behind the scenes and got their man, and hopefully he'll give the Bavarians that edge to fulfill their quest for glory.

MD Sass, a boutique **** et management firm, published its second-quarter investor update for its flagship, the "MD Sass Concentrated Value Strategy." The letter can be downloaded here. In the first half of 2026, AI infrastructure stocks led the market, with the Russell 1000 Value increasing by 16.3%, outpacing the S&P 500 (10.2%) and Russell 1000 Growth (5.3%). This growth was fueled by semiconductor, memory, and hardware companies benefiting from AI development, even though they are considered cyclical. These sectors, representing only 7.7% of the Russell 1000 Value at the start of the year, contributed nearly 70% of its returns. The portfolio gained 10.0% in the second quarter, net of fees, compared to 13.9% for the Russell 1000 Value Index. Year-to-date, the strategy returned 6.6%, net of fees, versus 16.3% for the Index. The portfolio faced challenges due to limited exposure to companies with the greatest upside from AI infrastructure investments. It also lacked exposure to the Energy sector, which returned about 20% in the first half amid geopolitical tensions with Iran that increased commodity prices, affecting performance. The firm recognizes the importance of adapting its strategies while maintaining core investment principles as it explores future opportunities in emerging technological themes. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, MD Sass Concentrated Value Strategy highlighted Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ:HSIC) as a notable contributor. Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ:HSIC) is a leading distributor of dental products and services. On August 28, 2026, Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ:HSIC) closed at $89.52 per share. Over the past month, Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ:HSIC) returned 3.48%, while its shares have gained 28.66% in the last 52 weeks. Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ:HSIC) has a market capitalization of $9.98 billion, and its stock has traded within a 52-week range of $61.95 to $92.18.
MD Sass Concentrated Value Strategy stated the following regarding Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ:HSIC) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ:HSIC), the world's largest provider of healthcare solutions to office-based dental and medical professionals, appreciated 13% in Q2. Strong earnings results and a positive outlook for the balance of the year created a very favorable setup for the company to exceed its full year guidance. We believe that significant cost reductions, combined with accelerating revenue growth, should lead to material positive earnings revisions as we move into Q4 and 2027. We met with HSIC's new CEO, Fred Lowery, and believe his track record, extensive distribution experience, and "outsider" mentality should translate into improved efficiencies and margins, a more profitable product mix, and market share gains. Descartes Systems Group announced Tuesday that it has acquired Extensiv, a warehouse management and fulfillment tech provider, for $120 million. The deal follows Descartes' $100 million acquisition of Tai last week.
The acquisition was funded with cash on hand.
California-based Extensiv helps 3PLs with inventory management and order fulfillment. It uses AI tools to leverage its omnichannel data and enhance decision making for warehouse operators.
"3PLs are under constant pressure to fulfill faster, scale flexibly, and support the evolving needs of modern brands," said Mikel Richardson, general manager of ecommerce operations at Descartes. … "Extensiv strengthens that position by adding more participants, more contextually rich operational data and fulfillment intelligence to the Descartes Global Logistics Network."
Like the addition of Tai, a TMS provider to freight brokers, the Extensiv deal deepens Descartes' reach into the logistics services provider market. It also builds out its warehousing, inventory management and ecommerce fulfillment offerings.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic is widely considered one of the NBA's best players. After winning the scoring ******* le in the 2025-26 season, Doncic firmly established himself as one of the best scorers. But where does he rank as a playmaker in all-time conversations?
The NBA has seen its fair share of great point guards. As one of the most vital positions on the floor, the NBA's list of great point guards features an extensive collection of the league's most creative and intelligent players, with some even redefining the rules of the game.
During a recent appearance on "3's and Ones," former NBA player Lance Stephenson was asked to share his list of the top five point guards in NBA history. While some of Stephenson's answers seem justified, one in particular stood out, as he shared:
"Isiah Thomas. This is not in order. Magic Johnson. Jason Kidd. Stephen Curry. That's four? I got Luka."
For the most part, the first four names mentioned on his list were players that the panel agreed with, and given their accomplishments, the selections seem justified. Still, the mention of Luka Doncic in Stephenson's top five turned some heads, with former NBA player Michael Beasley even referring to it as a "hot take."

Trevor Rees-Jones, Princess Diana's bodyguard, was the sole survivor of the 1997 car crash that killed her and Dodi Fayed
He sustained severe injuries, underwent extensive reconstructive surgery and later wrote a memoir defending himself against conspiracy theories
Rees-Jones has since rebuilt his life, working in security roles and living privately with his family in England
Bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones was the sole survivor of the deadly car accident that claimed the lives of Princess Diana, her boyfriend Dodi Fayed and their driver Henri Paul in 1997.
Following a romantic dinner at the Ritz Paris on the evening of Aug. 30, 1997, Rees-Jones accompanied Diana and Dodi as they traveled from the hotel to Dodi's apartment. But the couple — and their bodyguard — would never reach their destination, as their vehicle crashed head-on into a concrete column while attempting to evade paparazzi.

I felt as though I was watching Alex Scott take his game to yet another level in Bournemouth's 1-1 draw with Everton.
The technical excellence has always been there, but now he is beginning to dictate games.
Scott uses his body so well, and demands the ball even in tight areas of the pitch. It's his awareness that is making him stand out right now and we haven't even delved into his extensive passing range, or indeed his superbly taken goal against Everton.
Scott has recently turned 23. In midfielder terms, he's entered into the golden years, where quality, fitness, and experience begin to intertwine to great effect.
He's clearly got his admirers. Chelsea have courted Scott extensively in recent weeks. We'll see in the days ahead if they're genuinely willing to test Bournemouth's hard-nosed stance towards selling him.

Hamburger SV continue to pursue the signing of KRC Genk right-back Zakaria El Ouahdi as sporting director Claus Costa seeks to resolve one of the squad's most obvious remaining deficiencies before the transfer deadline. According to the Hamburger Abendblatt, HSV have already reached a basic agreement with the 24-year-old Moroccan international.
Belgian transfer reporter Sacha Tavolieri reports that the Bundesliga club are now preparing a third offer for Genk after their first two approaches failed to produce an agreement. El Ouahdi himself reportedly favors the move. Kicker identifies the defender as Hamburg's preferred solution and reports that a deal could cost approximately €13m plus bonuses.
The Morocco international offers substantial attacking production from the right flank. El Ouahdi registered eight goals and five **** ists in 34 league appearances last season, adding another four goals across nine Europa League outings. His potential arrival would also address a weakness that Get German Football News' 2026/27 Hamburger SV tactical preview identified as one of the club's principal unresolved personnel issues.
Following the departures of William Mikelbrencis and Giorgi Gocholeishvili, Bakery Jatta currently stands as the only established option for Merlin Polzin on the right wing-back position. HSV have consequently been seeking a player capable of moving ahead of Jatta in the hierarchy.
Bayer Leverkusen full-back Arthur remains the alternative should HSV decide that El Ouahdi's overall package is too expensive. Florian Plettenberg previously reported that Hamburg had reached a basic verbal agreement with the 23-year-old Brazilian over a season-long loan without a purchase option. GGFN covered Arthur's potential departure as part of Leverkusen's extensive late-window restructuring. Die Werkself are themselves attempting to sign Strasbourg right-back Guéla Doué and are prepared to sanction Arthur's temporary departure.

In 2023, Jaden Dugger was a safety. In 2024, he was a pass rusher. In 2025, he was an inside linebacker. In 2026, Louisiana coach Michael Desormeaux feared his star pupil could be undrafted.
Because Dugger changed positions annually, some NFL evaluators weren't sure what he was heading into April's draft. Desormeaux said he heard a common refrain from scouts: "We just don't see where he fits."
Desormeaux's response: Pick a spot for him. He'll be a great pick.
"They'd ask, 'What does he need to work on? '" Desormeaux said. "And I'd tell them, 'Well, he just needs to play linebacker. Or whatever he's going to play.'"
The San Francisco 49ers agreed - sort of. They believed Dugger was a late-round gem when they selected him in the fifth round four months ago. But why force a 6-foot-5, 242-pound player with gas-hose arms and extensive experience at all three levels of the defense into one position?

Players for the New Orleans Saints and throughout the NFL make their final push for a roster spot in the final weekend of preseason action. The Saints, 0-2 thus far in preseason play, close out with a Friday game at the Dallas Cowboys. All NFL teams must trim down to a 53-man active roster by Sunday afternoon.
Every year in the NFL, there are surprising cuts from several teams. These are usually veterans, some with extensive starting experience. Here are some of the vested veterans who could find themselves looking for other teams when the Saints trim down their roster this weekend.
Howden is among up to eight players fighting for what is probably 2-3 remaining jobs in the New Orleans secondary. While one of the team's top special teams contributors, he's done little to make a mark defensively. In three NFL seasons, all with New Orleans, Howden has 2 interceptions (both in 2024), along with 7 pass breakups, a fumble return for a touchdown, 1 sack, and 2 tackles for loss. After major inconsistencies in coverage over his first two years, Howden saw only 25% of the team's defensive snaps in 2025 despite appearing in 16 contests.
Jordan Howden may be the odd-man out in the Saints secondary. He's been used as both a deep safety and in the slot, but New Orleans has better options at both positions. For Howden, it may come down to whether he's a better special teams player than the other defensive backs competing for those final couple spots.
Like Howden, Yiadom could be caught up in the numbers game without the playing ability to overcome it. Kool-Aid McKinstry and Quincy Riley will start, with Martin Emerson as the likely third corner. Jayden Price has also emerged with a strong training camp to earn a spot on the depth chart. Additionally, Jonas Sanker is being given the first shot at replacing the departed Alontae Taylor with Price, Julian Blackmon, and rookie Lorenzo Styles also in that mix.

Arsenal are continuing to monitor the Julian Alvarez situation closely, with events in Madrid gathering pace and potentially creating one of the biggest late twists of the transfer window. Credit to the Daily Mail, which first detailed the latest developments, the picture emerging around Atletico Madrid's forward is becoming increasingly combustible.
Alvarez missed training for a second consecutive day because of what has been described as an illness, and while there is no suggestion from Atletico that the absence is transfer-related, the timing has naturally sharpened attention. **** nal have held a long-term interest in the Argentina international, and people close to the process are understood to have done extensive groundwork on whether he would be the right fit for Mikel Arteta's squad.
That piece of internal work appears to have been substantial. According to the report, **** nal staff had already been tasked with gathering data on Alvarez, including his injury history, physical metrics and on-pitch output. The conclusion was said to be decisive, he matches the profile **** nal want and Arteta is keen.

Atletico's stance has been hard-line for much of the summer, yet the situation has become harder to contain. Qnity Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:Q) reported solid second-quarter 2026 financial results, driven by disciplined execution across its core segments and deep integration into high-performance technology roadmaps. On the back of strong demand momentum, the company raised its full-year 2026 financial guidance. Qnity now expects full-year adjusted EPS of $4.40 to $4.60 (up from its prior forecast of $3.80 to $4.14), net sales between $5.55 billion and $5.65 billion, adjusted operating EBITDA of $1.675 billion to $1.725 billion, and adjusted free cash flow of $600 million to $700 million.
For Q2 2026, Qnity Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:Q) generated net sales of $1.4 billion, up 22% year-over-year on a 23% volume increase. Growth was balanced across both operational divisions: Semiconductor Technologies produced $744 million in revenue (with adjusted operating EBITDA of $253 million), while Interconnect Solutions delivered $685 million (with adjusted operating EBITDA of $197 million). Adjusted EPS rose 53% year-over-year to $1.19, comfortably above Wall Street estimates. GAAP net income landed at $136 million ($0.59 per share), impacted by ongoing transformation, integration, and standing legacy costs.
Close-up of Silicon Die are being Extracted from Semiconductor Wafer and Attached to Substrate by Pick and Place Machine. Computer Chip Manufacturing at Fab. Semiconductor Packaging Process.
At the same time, Qnity announced that Ken Rizvi will join as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective October 1. Rizvi brings extensive semiconductor leadership experience, having most recently served as CFO at Synaptics. Interim CFO Michael Goss will transition to Vice President, Finance and Controllership upon Rizvi's arrival.
This operational shift brings up a core question for investors: Does Qnity Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:Q)'s upwardly revised guidance signal a durable structural expansion powered by AI and advanced semiconductor nodes, or are lingering 2025 financial disruptions and elevated leverage going to cap long-term upside?

Tim Curry spent the final 14 years of his life navigating the lasting effects of a devastating stroke that left him unable to walk and temporarily took away his ability to speak. The "Rocky Horror Picture Show" star suffered the medical emergency in July 2012, but initially had no idea anything was wrong. He later revealed that two blood clots were discovered in his brain, leading doctors to perform emergency surgery.
Curry survived, underwent extensive rehabilitation, and continued working from his wheelchair until shortly before his death at age 80. Although the stroke defined many of his later health struggles, no official cause of death has been announced, and there is no confirmation that it directly caused his death.
Lisa OConnor / AFF-USA.com / MEGA
Curry was receiving a massage on July 13, 2012, when his massage therapist became concerned about his condition. The actor did not believe he needed medical attention because he was not experiencing pain or any symptoms he immediately recognized as signs of a stroke. "I felt fine," Curry recalled during a 2025 interview with "CBS News Sunday Morning," revealing, "I had no symptoms that I was aware of. I wasn't in pain."
His massage therapist trusted his instincts and called for an ambulance despite Curry's objections. The actor later credited that decision with potentially saving his life. By the time he arrived at the hospital, doctors had determined that he had suffered a serious stroke.

A running track that has played a role in preparing athletes for major championships since the 1980s could be closed until well into next year following a delay to laying a new surface.
Glasgow Commonwealth Games medal winner Megan Keith used Queens Park in Inverness to help her train for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and other competitions.
The facility has been out of action since early June when work on the £650,000 revamp began. The venue was due to be reopened next month.
But Highland Council has warned of the possibility of an extensive delay after more defects than previously thought were discovered in the track's original bottom layer.

WASHINGTON, Aug 24 (Reuters) - The U.S. Treasury will continue with its regularly scheduled debt auctions, including for long-dated bonds, despite its move to increase buyback sizes of 10- to 30-year securities, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Monday.
Asked at a news conference focused on Iran sanctions about Treasury's plans for bond buybacks and auction sizes going forward, Bessent said the department would "continue with our regular program of auctions" announced in early August.
He added that the Treasury hasn't purchased any bonds yet in the enlarged buybacks, which will start on September 10 for 10- and 20-year securities.
Bessent, a former hedge fund manager with extensive experience in sovereign debt and currency markets, last week surprised global bond investors by announcing the Treasury would double the size of its quarterly repurchases of longer-dated bonds after their yields reached the highest levels in nearly two decades.

Howie Mandel says his wife, Terry Mandel, eventually reached a point where living around his obsessive-compulsive disorder and intense fear of germs had become too much.
During the August 24 episode of Hoda Kotb's Joy 101 podcast, the 70-year-old comedian recalled Terry telling him she could not continue living that way unless he sought professional help. Her ultimatum eventually sent him to a psychiatrist, where Mandel was diagnosed with OCD in his 40s after experiencing symptoms since childhood.
He gave Kotb several examples of how extensively his rituals affected the household. Mandel said he built a separate ****** e in the backyard where he might stay for a week if one of their children sneezed, and he sometimes required family members to disinfect phones or other objects he considered contaminated.
The conversation also covered a separate crisis decades later. Mandel said his anxiety intensified dramatically during the COVID-19 pandemic and that he began self-medicating in an attempt to sleep and escape his thoughts, eventually reaching a point where Terry sometimes could not wake him.
Mandel told Kotb that his fear of germs is only one manifestation of the OCD symptoms and rituals he has dealt with for much of his life. Although germaphobia became part of his public persona and comedy, he described the reality of living with it in far harsher terms. "It's ****** ," he said.

AstraZeneca PLC (NYSE:AZN) is paying $600 million upfront to secure global rights to Zegfrovy from Dizal Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd, adding another targeted therapy to one of the pharmaceutical industry's largest oncology portfolios. Dizal Pharmaceutical could receive an additional $900 million if specified development, regulatory, and sales milestones are achieved, bringing the agreement's potential value to $1.5 billion. Dizal will also receive tiered royalties on the global sales of Zegfrovy.
Zegfrovy, also known as sunvozertinib, is an oral treatment approved in the United States and China for certain adults with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer with EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations, whose disease has progressed on or after platinum-based chemotherapy. Under the agreement, AstraZeneca (NYSE:AZN) will take responsibility for the treatment's global development and commercialisation.
For AstraZeneca (NYSE:AZN) shareholders, the transaction offers an opportunity to ****** s whether another targeted lung-cancer medicine can reinforce the company's oncology leadership, or whether the price adds further execution risk to an already extensive pipeline.
The agreement strengthens AstraZeneca's (NYSE:AZN) position in a therapeutic area where it already has substantial scientific and commercial experience. The company has built a major lung-cancer business around treatments including Tagrisso, Imfinzi, and Enhertu. That existing infrastructure could help AstraZeneca (NYSE:AZN) introduce Zegfrovy to physicians and patients more efficiently than a smaller developer with a limited global presence.
Zegfrovy also addresses a specific group of patients with EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations, for whom treatment options remain limited. In the Phase III WU-KONG28 trial, Zegfrovy produced median progression-free survival of 10.3 months, compared with 7.5 months for chemotherapy. AstraZeneca (NYSE:AZN) therefore gains an approved medicine supported by late-stage comparative evidence rather than an early experimental ****** et whose clinical viability remains largely unknown.

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (AP) — A lip-licking alligator, a smiling moose and a hat-wearing bear are among the many cartoon animals to have found themselves in the crosshairs of Buc-ee's, the popular Texas convenience store chain that has a penchant for protecting its buck-toothed beaver.
But now Buc-ee's has set off a Buckeye backlash across Ohio and beyond after taking on a beaver in the city of Beavercreek.
It's yet another Buc-ee's Ltd. trademark infringement lawsuit. Supporters of Beaver's Mini Mart have attacked Buc-ee's online and boycotted the stores, and the mini mart's home city passed a resolution making the beaver an official part of its history. British comedian John Oliver has even weighed in on the kerfuffle.
On an episode of "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver," the comedian detailed Buc-ee's aggressive history of trademark lawsuits targeting various woodland creatures and launched a website hawking merchandise bearing a knockoff "Buc-off" logo and a squirrel mascot named Mr. Nutterbutter. On X, #boycottbucees trended.
Buc-ee's sued Beaver's Mini Mart in late July, four months after the chain known for its extensive food offerings and massive restrooms opened its first Ohio store less than a half-hour's drive away.

Netflix is pushing back against Tyra Banks' claims that its America's Next Top Model docuseries defamed her, asking a court to dismiss the model and television personality's lawsuit and arguing that she agreed to give filmmakers control over how her interview would be edited.
According to court documents obtained by People, the streamer filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit on August 14. Netflix and EverWonder Studio also filed an anti-SLAPP motion and said they intend to "vigorously defend" Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model, the three-part documentary that premiered in February.
COMPLEX SHOP: Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. Uncover what's next. Buy. Collect. Obsess.
At the center of Netflix's response is an agreement it says Banks signed after sitting for an extensive interview. According to the motion, Banks acknowledged that she had "no right to review or approve" the finished project and released certain claims related to its production, including defamation and false light.
Netflix characterized her objections as disagreements with "ordinary editorial decisions" rather than false statements.

Dolly Parton says she is still recovering from the health problems that have changed some of her public plans, but slowing down creatively does not appear to be part of the conversation.
In a new PEOPLE interview, the 80-year-old country legend said she has been through some "hard times" with her health and acknowledged that she put some of her own needs aside while caring for her late husband, Carl Dean. "Even though I'm still healin', I'm still workin'," she said.
Dean died in March 2025 at age 82 after nearly 60 years of marriage to Parton. She told the publication that she is now dealing with health issues she "just didn't pay attention to" while looking after him, without identifying one diagnosis as the explanation for everything she has been experiencing.
Her workload nevertheless remains extensive. Parton is preparing to open her SongTeller Hotel and the largest museum exhibition ever devoted to her life, while continuing to work on music, products and even an early-stage idea for avatar performances that could offer fans another way to experience her songs.
Parton's latest comments add context to the health updates she has been sharing throughout 2026. She told PEOPLE that this is not the first difficult stretch she has experienced physically, recalling that health issues also sidelined her for months during the early 1980s. What feels different now, she said, is the intensity of the attention surrounding every update in the social-media era.

We're back with more preseason reactions. I had my full team-by-team takeaways from Week 1 of the preseason here, and I'll update this week's action after watching the All 22 throughout the next couple of days. I have my own fantasy football draft this weekend with the boys in San Diego, so my reactions will be more delayed this time around. Expect a big update on Monday. Thanks for hanging in there.

Some key starters rested, but Brock Purdy and the starting offense had a 10-play drive to start the game. Deebo Samuel Sr. and Demarcus Robinson opened in 2-WR sets, while De'Zhaun Stribling played in 3-WR sets initially. He once again dominated targets. Stribling had a great comeback route, a quick out against off coverage and was on the receiving end of a perfect rep on a dig route where he snapped things off cleanly before hands catching the pass in stride while in traffic. If he would've caught his stutter-and-go touchdown up the sideline from the slot, Stribling would've been a Round 6 selection in a hurry. There's overwhelming evidence that the 49ers love him. He has already won the inside-outside hybrid Jauan Jennings role, and there's room for him to quickly be a 2-WR set starter and fantasy-relevant player early on. Samuel hasn't stood out. His ADP is at 123.7 (up 13.3 spots over the last seven days).
Kyle Shanahan was roasted for taking Stribling where he did (33rd overall), but he was also questioned for drafting RB Kaelon Black in the third round. Well, Black was excellent on Thursday, to the point that I believe he's already won the valuable Christian McCaffrey backup role. Black had two key pass protection reps versus blitzers, and this is something that also stood out on his college tape at Indiana. He also was flawless in picking the right hole with the right pacing on his rush attempts. His play speed is better than his time speed because he makes confident, quick decisions. He also finished a couple of runs by flattening defenders. We'll see if Jordan James can return from injury in time to make this a real competition, but for now, Black looks like a draftable player in fantasy football. If you think CMC is missing time, you should be drafting Black. It's as simple as that.
The starters rested, and the second-team offense had extensive run (26 snaps). Of note, WR Tre Tucker was included with the resting starters, while offseason signee Jalen Nailor needed to play the first three drives. As I wrote last week, Tucker was the starter in their 1-WR set look as well, so it's probably time to simply rank Tucker ahead of Nailor as the more proven outside receiver. Meanwhile, Jack Bech was even more buried. He only played four snaps in the first three drives with Nailor, and in total, he played 11-of-16 snaps in the slot. It's possible that a majority of his playing time will come in the less valuable 3-WR sets.
