E.l.f. is also facing its challenges head-on by expanding. It made a major move last year when it acquired model Hailey Bieber's Rhode cosmetics, its first foray into luxury cosmetics. Volume growth acceleration was primarily driven by sustained improvements in patient mortality, which management attributes to successful clinical execution and better management of phosphate levels.
The transition of phosphate binders into the Medicare dialysis bundle has reduced reliance on less effective over-the-counter options by more than 50%, expanding access to clinically preferred therapies.
Revenue per treatment declined sequentially due to lower commercial mix following the expiration of ACA subsidies and lower sequential revenue contribution from phosphate binders.
Management is pivoting toward middle molecule clearance technology, specifically expanded hemodialysis (HD), which offers mortality benefits without requiring significant new capital investment in machines.

Manufacturing construction spending has collapsed 32% since Biden left office as CHIPS megaprojects wind down and IRA clean-energy plants are cancelled.
The ISM manufacturing index hit 55.6 in July, a 4-year high, with factory employment expanding for the first time in 33 months.

Donald Trump ran on rebuilding American factories. The building part is going the wrong way. Manufacturing construction spending in the United States is now down roughly 32% from its 2024 peak, reached in the final months of the Biden administration, according to a chart circulated this week by economist Joey Politano. The federal data behind it is stark: real dollars poured into new factory shells, chip fabs, and battery plants have slid from $211,142 million in August 2025 to $172,674 million in June 2026, a downward trajectory every month in between.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has been creating winners across the tech industry, but not every company benefiting from the boom sits in the spotlight. Some are quietly powering the infrastructure behind the AI revolution, and Coherent Corporation (COHR) is one of them. The world's leading photonics company has become an increasingly important player as data centers race to replace aging copper connections with high-speed fiber-optic networks capable of handling the massive amounts of data generated by AI and cloud computing.
That shift has transformed Coherent's optical networking business from what was once considered a cyclical, slow-growing segment into the company's biggest growth engine. The opportunity has only grown larger as hyperscalers continue expanding their AI infrastructure, and the market has taken notice. Earlier this year, Nvidia Corporation (NVDA) reinforced that optimism with a $2 billion investment in Coherent, adding another vote of confidence in the company's long-term prospects. Combined with strong execution, those tailwinds have helped fuel an impressive rally in COHR stock over the past year.

Conestoga Capital Advisors, an ****** et management company, released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The letter reports a positive market shift towards Small Caps, with the Russell 2000 Index achieving its best first half since 1991 and the Russell 2000 Growth Index up 25.7% in Q2, fueled by AI enthusiasm and semiconductor stocks. However, market leadership was uneven, mirroring the Tech Bubble, as high-beta stocks outperformed while high-quality companies lagged, impacting Conestoga's quality-focused strategies. Management expressed confidence in long-term outcomes, noting that speculative leadership won't last as monetary policy tightens and market breadth improves. The firm remains committed to high-quality growth businesses, expecting these to regain favor as leadership broadens. The Conestoga Small Cap Composite returned 14.32% net-of-fees in the second quarter, with 25.71% for the Russell 2000 Growth Index. Narrow Index leadership hurt the relative results, but it also hid Composite improvements. In addition, please check the Strategy's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Conestoga Capital Advisors highlighted Knowles Corporation (NYSE:KN) as a newly added position in the Small Cap Composite. On August 4, 2026, Knowles Corporation (NYSE:KN) closed at $40.40 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $3.45 billion. Knowles Corporation (NYSE:KN) posted a one-month return of 14.25%, while its shares gained 105.03% over the past 52 weeks.
Conestoga Capital Advisors stated the following regarding Knowles Corporation (NYSE:KN) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Knowles Corporation (NYSE:KN) designs highly engineered components used in medical, defense, industrial, and electrification applications. We were attracted to the company's accelerating organic growth, expanding margins, and exposure to several attractive long-term secular trends. How media market data could factor into upcoming NHL expansion decision originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Per sources, media-market data and information is to be heavily considered as the NHL looks to either Houston or Austin, Texas for their possible 33rd franchise.
Following a June 23 Board of Governors meeting, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman announced that the NHL will open a six-month process to ****** yze the possibility of expanding to either Houston or Austin. Dan Friedkin — the chairman and CEO of The Friedkin Group — has been identified as the prospective owner of the Texas expansion franchise. Bettman would also reveal that the NHL has already entered into an agreement with the Friedkin family to explore the possibility of this Texas expansion team, with the Dallas Stars being Texas's pre-existing League franchise.
The efforts are reported to result in an approximately $3.5 billion investment made by the Friedkins, which includes the expansion fee that goes to the NHL and the cost of building a new arena — a NHL requirement for the expansion team in either Houston or Austin.
These latest developments have been in the works for around two years as the Friedkin family has considered Houston, with Austin also having come into discussion in more recent conversations.

There's an expanding market of fantasy football content makers these days. The pool has never been larger, or smarter. And with a group this large, it makes for a number of different styles. It's a golden age for the industry.
Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season
I generally opt for the understated style. I don't promise anyone that consuming my content will make them dominate their league or crush their draft. I humbly offer that I think I can help players improve at their craft, and I'm also accepting that my style isn't for everyone. If my stuff isn't landing for you, it's not a big deal. I have a slew of talented teammates over at Yahoo — you should find someone here that you line up with.
Perhaps this soft-pedal opening was encouraged by the recent Salary Cap Draft at the Fantasy Football Expo. I am in the Jim Brown division this year, and on July 25 I participated in two drafts (one snake, one salary cap) against 13 other skillful industry members. The drafts were fun but competitive, one of the highlights of the year. And although I pride myself on being an experienced and skilled salary cap player, I did not love my results in that draft.
(Coincidentally, I liked my snake draft team a fair amount, but that's a discussion for another day.)

KYIV, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Ukraine on Tuesday accused Russia of committing a war crime after a video was released showing a drone chasing down and wounding a vegetable seller in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson.
Footage released by Ukrainian police ‌shows the drone pursuing a man around a van being used as a street stand before exploding as he dives for ‌cover behind the vehicle. Police said the man in his 50s survived but suffered shock and shrapnel injuries.
Ukrainian officials later identified him only as a 52-year-old called Yurii and released a video interview with him from a hospital ward.
"Today, many were shocked by yet another video of the drone 'safari' Russians are carrying out against civilians in Kherson," President Volodymyr Zelenskiy wrote on X, saying that "Russia has gone mad" and calling for more pressure on Moscow and strong security guarantees for Ukraine.
"We must act and support life in ways that force Russia to think seriously about peace rather than expanding the range of its drones."

Greenskeeper **** et Management, an independent firm that specializes in disciplined value investing, recently released its Q2 2026 scorecard. A copy is available to download here. After a slow start to the year, the Fund gained 10.9% in the quarter, lifting its year-to-date return to 1.9%. The rebound came as markets showed signs of rotating away from momentum stocks and toward companies supported by reasonable valuations. Please review the Fund's top five holdings to gain insights into their key selections for 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Greenskeeper **** et Management highlighted Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) as a leading performance contributor. Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG), the parent company of Google, offers various platforms and services, including online search and advertising, cloud solutions, and artificial intelligence. On August 03, 2026, Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) closed at $372.47 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $4.56 trillion. Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) posted a one-month return of 2.43%, while its shares gained 90.70% over the past 52 weeks.
Greenskeeper **** et Management stated the following regarding Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG), +23.2%, was our third-best performer in the quarter. After more than two years of market concern that AI chatbots would cannibalize Google's core search business, recent results are proving those fears unfounded. Boosted by AI Overviews and AI mode, Search revenue grew nearly 20% in the most recent quarter. This performance was driven primarily by higher paid-click volume, alongside a modest rise in revenue per click— demonstrating that AI integration is enhancing, rather than displacing, the platform's core value proposition. Alphabet's Cloud division is showing even stronger momentum: its backlog has nearly doubled, while operating margins expanded to 33%, highlighting both robust demand and expanding operating leverage. Meanwhile, management continues to invest heavily in compute infrastructure. With market-leading positions across search, cloud, digital advertising, and AI, we believe Alphabet remains exceptionally well-positioned to earn strong returns on its capex and compound intrinsic value over time."
Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) ranks 7th on our list of 40 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds. According to our database, 201 hedge fund portfolios held Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) at the end of the first quarter, compared to 203 in the previous quarter. In 2025, Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) achieved its first-ever $400 billion annual revenue and in Q1 2026 its consolidated revenue reached $109.9 billion, up 22% or 19% in constant currency. While we acknowledge the potential of Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. Baron Capital, an investment management company, released its Q2 2026 investor letter for the "Baron Health Care Fund". A copy of the letter is available to download here. The Fund gained 11.99% during the quarter, compared with the 10.48% gain for the Russell 3000 Health Care Index and the 15.44% gain for the Russell 3000 Index. Since inception, the Fund appreciated 10.61% on an annualized basis, compared with 10.02% for the Benchmark and 14.83% for the Index. Strong stock selection in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, health care equipment, and life sciences tools and services supported the Fund's outperformance, although limited exposure to managed care stocks reduced relative returns. The Fund remains positive on health care due to improving biotechnology funding, strong acquisition activity, recovering managed care margins, and growth from an aging population, chronic disease, medical innovation, and higher health care spending. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know the best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Baron Health Care Fund highlighted argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX). argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX) is a commercial-stage biopharma company that develops various therapies for the treatment of autoimmune diseases in the United States and internationally. On August 03, 2026, argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX) closed at $830.79 per share. The one-month return of argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX) was -9.69% and its shares gained 23.10% over the past 52 weeks. argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX) has a market capitalization of $51.66 billion with a 52-week trading range between $631.47 - $953.58.
Baron Health Care Fund stated the following regarding argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Biotechnology company argenx SE (NASDAQ:ARGX) is best known for developing Vyvgart, the leading FcRn inhibitor for the treatment of autoimmune conditions. Shares rose after a period of prior weakness, which may have been partly driven by the retirement of longtime CEO Tim Van Hauwermeiren in early 2026. We view the transition to Karen Massey, who previously led the company's operations, as largely non-disruptive and believe she is well positioned to continue executing the company's strategy. Shares also benefited from optimism ahead of several clinical readouts, including data from studies of Vyvgart in immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy and dermatomyositis, expected in the third quarter of 2026, as well as empasibrupart in multifocal motor neuropathy, expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. Vyvgart continues to launch well in generalized myasthenia gravis and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, where we believe it has established itself as an important treatment option. We expect Vyvgart to demonstrate efficacy across an expanding range of autoantibody-driven autoimmune conditions over time and remain encouraged by argenx's pipeline progress."

Given the recent changes in the Detroit Lions' linebacker room, Derrick Barnes will be a key figure for the 2026 season. Alex Anzalone departed in the offseason and rookie Jimmy Rolder will miss some time due to a recent hamstring injury.
According to Detroit Lions senior writer and insider Tim Twentyman, Barnes has been expanding his role on defense.
Through the first couple days of training camp, we've seen Barnes play an increased role in passing downs when the Lions are in nickel (five defensive backs and two linebackers). He had the biggest play for Detroit's defense during Thursday's practice when he stepped in front of and intercepted a Jared Goff pass intended for tight end Sam LaPorta in a team period. - Tim Twentyman, DetroitLions.com
"The way our defense is designed on that play, the position I'm playing, the job I'm doing on that specific play, it's kind of hard to see where I am in the coverage we're in and what my role is for the quarterback," Barnes said of last week's interception.
"I was kind of reading JG (Goff) a little bit, his eye progression, seeing a few routes coming across the field and I was like, 'Maybe I can just get in the window.' Really just did my job."

NEW YORK, Aug 5 (Reuters) - JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon is urging corporate leaders to join a U.S.-focused industry group to address risks posed by AI, as corporate America rapidly adopts the developing technology, two sources familiar with ‌the matter said.
Dimon has personally reached out to CEOs of other large and major regional banks and IT companies to enlist them ‌in the initiative, which he is expanding from a group that JPM helped found called the Alliance for Critical Infrastructure, the sources said.
The ACI and Dimon have also communicated with other prospective members in an effort to schedule calls in August to discuss collaboration, the sources said.
The outreach, which started in July, includes over 40 companies spanning financial services, energy, water, utilities, telecommunications, airlines, railroads and other critical infrastructure industries that rely heavily on technology, the sources said. The ACI has not disclosed results of the effort so far.

For years, the electric vehicles (EVs) conversation has revolved around Tesla (TSLA). While Tesla captured headlines with rapid sales growth, industry-leading battery technology, and an ever-expanding lineup of EVs, legacy automakers like General Motors Company (GM) and Ford Motor Company (F) were seen trying hard to catch up. Today, as Tesla prioritizes its bold AI ambitions, its core automotive business is under pressure. Meanwhile, General Motors and Ford have quietly accelerated their own EV strategies. Both companies have invested billions in new platforms, expanded their EV portfolios, and are emerging as serious competitors in the U.S. EV market.
But only one of these legacy players is poised to win the EV race.
Get exclusive insights with the FREE Barchart Brief newsletter. Subscribe now for quick, incisive midday market ******* ysis you won't find anywhere else.
With a market cap of $77.9 billion, General Motors is one of the world's largest automakers, with a portfolio spanning Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, and Buick. For years, GM was criticized for moving too cautiously in the EV business while Tesla stormed ahead. But management repeatedly argued that the company would scale its EV business only if it improved its long-term profitability. Its recent Q2 earnings show that the strategy is beginning to pay off.
Its EV portfolio now includes the Chevrolet Equinox EV, Blazer EV, Cadillac LYRIQ, and the GMC Hummer EV, giving the company a presence across both mass-market and luxury segments. The initial phases of the EV boom rewarded companies that launched vehicles fast into the market. But this phase of EVs is more about which company is actually making money by selling them. And that is precisely what GM is trying to do. Instead of quickly ramping up production, GM has spent the past year restructuring its EV operations to better match actual consumer demand.

Today, Formula 1 can count the United States among its strongest and fastest-growing markets, with three Grands Prix on the calendar: Austin, Miami and Las Vegas, the latter returning to the championship in 2023. The sport has also enjoyed a significant surge in popularity across the country in recent years, with growing fan interest and an expanding commercial presence.
Donald Trump's rise to mainstream fame accelerated through The Apprentice, the reality TV show that turned him from a businessman into a household name across the United States. Years later, Briatore took on the same role in the Italian version of The Apprentice, becoming the face of the programme in Italy.
Speaking to The Race, the Italian revealed that he enlisted Donald Trump's help because of his experience as a promoter, despite the future US president knowing very little about Formula 1 at the time. Briatore explained that he brought Trump and Bernie Ecclestone together to explore potential locations for a race in the New York area.
"Donald had no idea as well about Formula 1 - but he's a great promoter. At the time, he promoted boxing, he promoted everything in Vegas, etc... I made Donald talk with Bernie (Ecclestone). I was in the office of Donald. We put in (a) video with Bernie to (find) what was the best place in New York to do the race.

In one-quarterback leagues, and even in Superflex formats, the quarterback pool is quite plentiful compared to their NFL counterparts. From a sheer numbers perspective, there are 68 teams comprising the Power Four player pool (with Notre Dame), with just 12 signal-callers starting on any given week (up to 24 in Superflex).
Your eight bench spots thin out quickly, which compels managers to churn through players on bye weeks and in time shares. In the standard 1QB format, rostering two quarterbacks seems to be the sweet spot from a roster construction standpoint in 1QB leagues, so as to not leave yourself short on RB /WR depth. The ability to stream waiver wire pickups who are facing poor defenses make the high-end quarterbacks valuable and the middle-to-lower tier easily replaceable
You will want to roster four QBs in Superflex leagues if possible, so expanding rosters to 20 players with a 10-man bench is advised. Utilizing a two-quarterback rotation in a Superflex format is not going to suffice with bye weeks, schedule quirks and injuries looming. Ideally a 4QB construction will allow you the flexibility to play matchups and still be covered in case an unexpected change of circumstances arises.

Your draft approach will vary depending on whether you play Superflex or 1QB formats. In standard Yahoo 1QB leagues I wouldn't take any signal-caller except Arch in the top-50. For the top-100 and I'd expand that list to Trinidad Chambliss, Devon Dampier and Drew Mestemaker, in that order. Keep in mind the 4-point passing touchdown format greatly depreciates the efficacy of pass-only, pro style quarterbacks. So I wouldn't make the mistake of reaching for Dante Moore within the first 10 rounds when you can take a dual-threat with 25 FPPG potential later on.

International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah on Sunday inaugurated the Tanzania Cricket Arena (TCA Arena) in Dar es Salaam, marking a historic milestone for the country's cricketing journey. The venue is the first-ever ICC-approved cricket stadium in Tanzania and is expected to play a pivotal role in developing the sport across East Africa.

The inauguration also marks the first time an ICC Chairman has visited Tanzania to officially open a cricket venue, underlining the ICC's commitment to expanding the game's footprint beyond traditional cricketing nations.
Located at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), the TCA Arena has been built as Tanzania's permanent home for cricket. The modern facility comprises two international-standard cricket ovals and will serve as the country's national high-performance centre.

The venue will be used for:

Amazon.com Inc. has long viewed Amazon Web Services as its biggest growth engine, but CEO Andy Jassy now believes the cloud business could become much larger than the company previously imagined. During Amazon's second-quarter earnings call on Thursday, Jassy said AWS could eventually generate $1 trillion in annual revenue, more than doubling Amazon's earlier vision of the business as a company capable of producing "a few hundred billion dollars" in annual sales.
The comment wasn't new financial guidance. Instead, it reflected Amazon's growing conviction that artificial intelligence is dramatically expanding the long-term cloud computing opportunity — and that AWS remains well positioned to capture it.

Palantir Technologies (PLTR) will announce its second-quarter earnings on Aug. 3. Notably, Q2 could again be a solid quarter, marking accelerating revenue growth and expanding margins.
Despite consistently posting impressive financial results, Palantir's stock has struggled in 2026. Shares are down about 32% year-to-date (YTD) and have fallen more than 41% from their 52-week high, even as the company's underlying business continues to strengthen.
