VC investment in quantum computing notched a record $2 billion in Q2 across 23 deals, accounting for a third of dollars in the chips and datacenters vertical, according to a new PitchBook report.
Quantum's marquee event this quarter was Quantinuum's IPO, which accounted for most of the $19 billion in quantum exit value and was the first major test of the technology in public markets. On the VC side, Oxford Quantum Circuits raised a £260 million Series C led by Bullhound Capital.
Strategics are eyeing quantum technologies, too. Miraex, a quantum hardware startup, was bought in June following Quantum Circuits $538 million sale earlier this year.
Overall, investment in chips and datacenters fell for the second consecutive quarter, hitting $6.6 billion across 133 deals in Q2. Despite the pullback from recent highs, 2026 is still on pace to exceed 2025's record of $21.6 billion.
The declines were concentrated in semiconductor chip design startups, which posted their weakest quarter since Q1 2025 at $1.7 billion. While newer chip design entrants like Etched, d-Matrix, and Ricursive Intelligence are making waves, the dominance of larger players has given investors pause.

There's a great deal to like about quantum firm D-Wave (QBTS), including its promising technologies, its rapidly growing bookings and backlog, the investment that it received from the U.S. government, and its impressive list of customers.
However, Quantinuum (QNT), whose IPO was launched by majority owner Honeywell (HON), also has all of these attributes. However, its revenue, backlog, and cash reserves are meaningfully larger than those of D-Wave. Due to these points, I view QNT stock as the better, safer pick for investors for now.

Reporting financial results for the first time as a public company, Quantinuum (QNT) reported a loss that met views while revenue slightly beat Wall Street targets. Quantinuum stock rose as the company also announced a quantum system sale to Oracle (ORCL).
Quantinuum in June raised $1.68 billion in an upsized initial public offering.
"This was a good first quarter post-IPO," said Morgan Stanley ***** yst Joseph Moore in a report. "Bookings are tracking better, there is revenue upside both this year and next, which suggests both conservatism in the original outlook and incremental commercial activity."
With the Oracle deal, management now expects at least $120 million of total bookings in fiscal 2026, up from $81 million in bookings as of June 30.
Meanwhile, Oracle plans to deploy a Oracle will deploy a Quantinuum "Helios" system at a cloud computing data center.

The venture-backed IPO market has roared back to life in 2026, headlined by ******* eX's record $1.77 trillion IPO, but the stock performance of newly public companies has been comparably muted.
There have been 44 VC-backed IPOs in the US so far this year, according to new PitchBook data, on track to trounce 2025's total of 50. In addition to ******* eX—and the planned mega-IPOs of Anthropic and OpenAI—companies including Cerebras, Quantinuum, X-Energy and HawkEye 360 raised significant proceeds, and delivered some long-awaited liquidity to investors.
But the results since haven't been pretty: ******* eX, as of Thursday's market close, was trading 30.3% down from its debut, and Cerebras was down 34.7%, even with a 19.9% one-day gain.

Stocks' 2026 gains have largely evaporated thanks to Wall Street's recent concerns over the continued war in Iran and the potential for Chinese chip manufacturers to challenge US incumbents in the race for AI computing power.

Honeywell Technologies (NASDAQ:HON) used to be one giant company that made everything from thermostats to jet engines. Not anymore. Over the past year, it split into three separate public companies: Solstice Advanced Materials, spun off last October; Honeywell Aerospace, spun off just last month; and Honeywell Technologies, the automation business that's left, which is what CEO Vimal Kapur now runs. This week's earnings report was the first one for Honeywell Technologies as its own standalone firm, and the stock jumped more than 5% on the news.
Since the aerospace spinoff only finished right at the end of the quarter, this report still includes some of Honeywell Aerospace's results mixed in, which makes straight comparisons tricky. Total revenue, including that leftover aerospace piece, came in at $9.72 billion, up 4% from a year ago and beating the roughly $9.5 billion **** ysts expected. Strip aerospace back out, and revenue for just the automation business was $5.19 billion, up 3%, beating the $5.02 billion Wall Street had modeled specifically for the smaller, standalone company.
On profit, adjusted earnings per share, including the leftover aerospace results came in at $4.52, actually down 4% from $4.72 a year earlier. On a standalone basis without aerospace, adjusted earnings were $1.95 a share, up 10% from $1.77 a year ago and beating the $1.82 **** ysts expected for the new, smaller Honeywell Technologies. There was also a one-time boost: net profit under standard accounting rules hit $5.68 billion, largely because of a $6.63 billion one-time accounting gain tied to deconsolidating Quantinuum, Honeywell's quantum computing venture, a separate transaction from the aerospace spin-off, not from the actual operating business doing better.
That raises a real question. Is this a genuinely strong first quarter as a standalone firm, or does the messy, one-time nature of a spinoff quarter make it hard to tell what Honeywell Technologies (NASDAQ:HON) actually looks like going forward?
All three of Honeywell's remaining automation segments grew organically, and orders for the standalone business overall grew 16%, with backlog reaching about $20 billion. Building Automation was the standout, with organic sales up 9% and orders up 13%, driven by strong demand from data centers and hotels. Industrial Automation grew sales 4% organically on strong demand for sensing and measurement equipment. Process Automation, the one segment with sales down slightly this quarter, actually saw orders surge 24%, with Middle East orders alone up more than 50% on refurbishment projects, and management expects a "sharp inflection" in that segment's growth starting in the third quarter. Kapur said the results reflect a "year-plus long process to simplify our business," and that the benefits are already showing up.

Over the past year, quantum computing stocks have emerged as a compelling complement to mainstream opportunities in the artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem. While classical AI systems have demonstrated impressive capabilities in pattern recognition and generative tasks, many high-value problems remain computationally strained.
Quantum machines leverage properties known as superposition and entanglement to better explore solutions in more sophisticated applications. This opens the door to hybrid quantum-classical environments that could usher in waves of better data, tighter constraints, and new algorithms for AI.

Interested in AppLovin Corporation? Here are five stocks we like better.
Wall Street ****** ysts forecast more than 30% upside for AppLovin, Quantinuum, and ServiceTitan despite notable insider trading activity across all three stocks.
Quantinuum saw more than 10 insiders purchase nearly $25 million in shares following its IPO, an unusually bullish signal given that insiders typically sell post-IPO.
AppLovin CEO Adam Foroughi sold approximately $51 million in discretionary shares in June, though he retains a stake valued at more than $1 billion.
Insiders are making notable trades across several tech stocks. This includes the newest quantum stock on the market, which is seeing significant insider purchases right out of the gate. Meanwhile, insiders are selling two other notable software companies. However, when it comes to ****** yst forecasts, upside is something that all three have in common.

Bank of America, UBS and Jefferies on Monday initiated coverage of quantum computing company Quantinuum (QNT) with buy ratings, touting its broad hardware and software platform. Quantinuum stock climbed on the news.
At Bank of America, ***** yst Vivek Arya initiated coverage of Quantinuum with a price target of 100.
"Quantinuum's newest platform, Helios, delivers industry-leading commercial performance and has already won over customers including Amgen and BMW who use it in the cloud and on premises," Arya said in a report. "While many quantum roadmaps rely on unproven integration and/or scientific progress, we think QNT's is relatively derisked, with scaling more dependent on engineering execution across its architecture and systems."
Jefferies ***** yst Kevin Garrigan set a price target of 90 on QNT stock. Controlled by Honeywell International (HON), Quantinuum launched an initial public offering on June 4.
"Quantinuum is a leading quantum computing company, differentiated by a vertically integrated full-stack model combining high-fidelity trapped-ion hardware, an industry-leading software stack, and a deep commercial customer base across chemistry, materials, financial services and cybersecurity," Garrigan said in a report.

Quantinuum Inc. (NASDAQ:QNT) was among the stocks Jim Cramer highlighted on Mad Money as he noted that the market has an appetite for stocks. Cramer highlighted the company’s good balance sheet but noted that it is unprofitable. He stated:
This is a very unprofitable venture right now, and it will likely remain unprofitable for years to come… Now, Quantinuum does have a good balance sheet with basically no debt, but it’s also deeply cash flow negative at this point, as you might expect with those losses. Sooner or later, these guys are going to have to raise more money either through borrowing or maybe through additional stocks. But honestly, those current numbers are basically irrelevant here because the buyers just don’t care. This is pure… speculation.
It may very well be the case that Quantinuum should be considered one of the leaders in quantum computing technology; I don’t have enough degrees to ***** s whether that’s true or not. But even if Quantinuum’s the best operator, we have no idea how many years it will take before quantum computing becomes commercially viable. Think years and years of potentially huge losses. Now, I never want to stop someone from speculating on a story that they truly believe in, so as long as they understand what they’re doing, it’s fine. As we’ve seen over and over again in the past year, speculating on the quantum stocks has been pretty lucrative, though not for the poor souls who bought these stocks at the top last October. So you gotta be careful.
But for me, the story’s too speculative to recommend right now, especially with the sky-high valuation the stock’s getting right out of the gate… The bottom line: After long existing as a sub of Honeywell, Quantinuum finally came public, and while it’s got a good story to tell, this is just not enough of an actual business yet. If you want to buy it, only use money you can afford to lose because this really is the most extreme form of speculation. I just wanted to put it out there. Everyone’s so excited about Quantinuum, I just want to invoke a little bit of caution.

Memory chip stocks have been on fire this year, with Micron (MU) leading the charge. Advanced AI servers have sent demand soaring, making chips that were once deemed “boring” the hottest part of tech. MU stock has climbed almost 750% over the past 52 weeks as investors bet on an extended memory supercycle. Raymond James recently added to the momentum by lifting its price target to $1,100 from $530 and reiterating an “Outperform” rating ahead of the June 24 earnings report. In response, the stock rose more than 6% and moved above the $1,000 mark, although shares now trade closer to the $900 level.
Raymond James' bullish call rests on more than a fast-moving share price. Micron said in March that second-quarter revenue nearly tripled from a year earlier and it expects another record-setting quarter, with management pointing to strong AI data-center demand, tight industry supply, and improving visibility from customers.
