Jalen Hurts did not wait for a question to establish the Philadelphia Eagles' standard for the 2026 season.
Hurts opened his first training camp news conference with a statement about the offseason, the workouts he organized with teammates and the importance of strengthening relationships throughout the offense.
"Really good summer," Hurts said. "We got a lot of work in, got a lot of guys together and definitely grew closer. The mentality is 100 percent alignment, zero entitlement."
The message reflects Hurts' approach to leading a roster filled with accomplished and highly paid players. Philadelphia has Pro Bowl selections, All-Pro performers and players with championship experience, but Hurts does not believe previous success guarantees future results. His offseason work amid A.J. Brown's departure was designed to build the alignment he referenced. Hurts trained with quarterbacks Tanner McKee, Andy Dalton and Cole Payton in Orlando, Florida, while several wide receivers and tight ends participated in throwing sessions.
DeVonta Smith, Hollywood Brown, Dontayvion Wicks, Elijah Moore, Dallas Goedert and rookie Eli Stowers were among the offensive players involved. First-round receiver Makai Lemon joined the sessions after working through a hamstring injury. The workouts allowed teammates to develop timing while learning how each player communicates and responds to coaching. That familiarity is particularly important as Philadelphia installs Sean Mannion's offense and incorporates several new skill-position players.

The Arizona Cardinals are a week into training camp and we are able to note who is practicing with which units — the starters, the backups or the deep backups. The Cardinals' first two draft picks, running back Jeremiyah Love and guard Chase Bisontis, have been getting consistent second-team snaps and some with the first team.
However, the rest of the rookies have been further down the depth chart, except for one, and it might surprise you.
According to AZCentral Sports' Theo Mackie, tackle Jayden Williams, their seventh-round pick, has consistently been working with the second-team offense, suggesting he might have a real shot at making the 53-man roster.
With Paris Johnson and Elijah Wilkinson the two starting tackles, Josh Fryar and Williams have been on the second-team offense. It is early in camp, but Williams is ahead of other tackles on the roster like Christian Jones, Oli Udah and Demontrey Jacobs.
That will be a battle to watch once preseason games start.

The Atlanta Falcons are entering the 2026 season with a new look on the right side of their offensive line for the second consecutive year, hoping the latest changes will provide stability and strengthen the protection in front of their offense.
The transition began after longtime right tackle Kaleb McGary announced his retirement during the offseason. McGary, the 31st overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, started 92 games for Atlanta from 2019 through 2024 before a knee injury sidelined him for the entire 2025 season. His retirement marked the end of a significant chapter for the Falcons' offensive line.
Atlanta temporarily filled the void last season with veteran Elijah Wilkinson, but his departure in free agency left the Falcons searching once again for a dependable starter.
The team's answer came in the form of veteran tackle Jawaan Taylor. Selected four picks after McGary in the 2019 draft, Taylor brings a wealth of experience to Atlanta after spending time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs. Over seven NFL seasons, he has started 120 regular-season games and appeared in nine playoff contests, giving the Falcons a proven veteran with championship experience.

Kyler Gordon was the talk of the town today as he continues to not be healthy enough to play. Spidey opens up training camp on the Physically Unable to Participate list. Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson were understandably frustrated. According to them, he has done everything he has needed to do this off-season to prepare and get healthy, but when asked about what his message has been to Kyler Gordon, Ben Johnson succinctly said: "Get healthy."
A healthy Kyler goes a long way for this team. But your best ability is availability, so it remains to be seen if he sees out his recently inked contract just a year ago.
Joining Kyler on PUP are TJ Edwards, Elijah Hicks, Keyshaun Elliott, and Montez Sweat, but none of them are expected to be long-term.

The Chicago Bears opened training camp today, and with everyone reporting to Halas Hall, they made two more roster moves by placing defensive end Montez Sweat on the Active/Non-Football Illness list and safety Elijah Hicks on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list.
Sweat joins linebacker T.J. Edwards on the NFI list, and much like T.J., Sweat's stay isn't expected to be long. Earlier today, general manager Ryan Poles said Edwards injured his calf during offseason training and is expected back soon, calling it "nothing major." Sweat's illness is expected to keep him away for a few days.
Hicks reported some shin discomfort when reporting, so his start to camp will be delayed a bit. He joins nickelback Kyler Gordon, linebackers Keyshaun Elliott and Noah Sewell, offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo, and defensive lineman Shemar Turner on the PUP list.
Poles said Gordon spent the entire offseason at Halas Hall to make sure he was ready, but there has been a "delay" in his recovery. This latest issue is with this calf, and there is no timetable to return.

The 2026 Shriners Children's East-West Bowl released its watch list on Thursday. The list contains six returning Huskers and five Nebraska transfers.
Returning Huskers to make the list included wide receiver Nyziah Hunter, tight end Luke Lindenmeyer, edge rusher Williams Nwaneri, defensive back Andrew Marshall, and offensive linemen Justin Evans and Elijah Pritchett. Transfers include quarterback Anthony Colandrea, edge rusher Anthony Jones Jr., defensive back Dwayne McDougle III and offensive linemen Brendan Black and Paul Mubenga.
Colandrea is the standout, playing in 33 games in his career with 31 starts at quarterback. The 2025 Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year across three seasons completed 627-of-983 passes for 7,542 yards and 49 touchdowns. He also had 328 carries for 1,151 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Jones Jr. played one season each at Oregon, Indiana, Michigan State and UCLA before transferring to Nebraska. Jones has played in 37 games, totaling 58 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and one pass breakup. McDougle III followed new defensive coordinator Rob Aurich from San Diego State.
McDougle III played in 40 games across four seasons and recorded 143 tackles with 3.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions, 12 pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Black and Mubenga combined for 56 games and 41 starts. Black played in 36 games across three seasons at Iowa State. Mubenga also played for three seasons, taking part in 20 games at LSU.

Former Nebraska football defensive lineman Elijah Jeudy announced he would be taking a coaching position with Highland Community College. He will serve as the defensive line coach.
Jeudy played at Nebraska from 2023-2025. He came to Lincoln after transferring from Texas A&M. The defender was a reliable piece for the Huskers' defense, as he recorded 39 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and a blocked kick in 36 games. He had 18 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one forced fumble in 12 starts in 2025.
He also achieved academic milestones during his time in Lincoln. He was named to the All-Big Ten academic team on multiple occasions.
Jeudy was a staple of the defensive line on the field and a hard worker off of it as well. He truly embraced life in Lincoln in every possible way. Now, he will take the next step in his career.

The Philadelphia Eagles do not need to force rookies into major roles before they are ready. That is one of the benefits of having a roster built to contend immediately, with proven veterans and young starters already established across both sides of the ball. Still, every rookie class has at least one player whose opportunity is too obvious to ignore.
For the Eagles, that player is Makai Lemon.
Lemon has the clearest path among Philadelphia's rookies to start Week 1 because of where he was drafted, what he brings to the offense, and how the wide receiver room has changed. The Eagles traded up to select the USC wide receiver with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, adding the Biletnikoff Award winner after a final college season in which he totaled 1,156 receiving yards and 13 scrimmage touchdowns.
DeVonta Smith is the unquestioned No. 1 receiver, and the Eagles added Hollywood Brown, Dontayvion Wicks, and Elijah Moore to give Jalen Hurts more veteran options. That creates competition, but it also creates a realistic path for Lemon. Philadelphia did not move up in the first round for a player it planned to hide, and Lemon's explosiveness, ability after the catch, and inside-out versatility give the offense a skill set that can translate quickly.
The biggest factor is health and timing. If Lemon is fully available by the end of training camp and builds trust with Hurts, he could open the season as part of Philadelphia's top three-receiver packages. Whether that counts as a traditional "start" may depend on personnel grouping. Still, today's NFL, a rookie receiver playing heavy snaps in 11 personnel can function as a starter even if the offense technically opens in a different formation.

One of the underrated aspects of college football recruiting is scouting which players have the best chance to develop. It's easy to look at an athlete's rating and pursue them based on that, but it's an entirely different story to identify a lower-profile talent and mold them into the four- or five-star recruit that they have a chance to be.
Penn State snagged a pair of recruits in recent weeks, four-star prospects David Tarawallie and Elijah Guertin, but those ratings weren't a consensus among all recruiting services. Rivals initially had them listed as three-star players, also excluding them from the prestigious Rivals300, a comprehensive list of the 300 best prospects in the nation.
Now, the trusted institution has given each player their fourth star and added both of them to the Rivals300. Tarawallie is flirting with the top half of the list at No. 168 and Guertin just barely made it at No. 298. The exciting piece of this for the Nittany Lions is that each player has another season of high school football to continue making a strong impression and climbing up the list.
With most of the team's top recruits off the board for the Class of 2027, a sure fire way to improve its standing nationally is to have players add stars or ascend lists like these. Let's see just how high Tarawallie and Guertin can climb before they set foot in Happy Valley next year.

It was a practical response from a player who understands the business side of football as well as anyone.
Brown's exit changed the Eagles' receiver room, but Owens did not frame the situation as if Philadelphia suddenly lacked a true top option. When asked about the current group, Owens said DeVonta Smith has always been a No. 1 wide receiver. That may be the most important part of his **** sment.
Smith is no longer sharing top billing with Brown, but this is not the first time he has been asked to prove he can lead a passing game. His route running, body control, hands, and consistency have long made him one of the NFL's most polished wideouts. The difference entering 2026 is opportunity. Smith will now sit at the front of a reshaped room that includes Hollywood Brown, Dontayvion Wicks, Elijah Moore, rookie Makai Lemon, and several receivers competing for depth roles.
Owens' comments also offer a useful reminder. Brown's departure does not have to be viewed as a referendum on the Eagles or on Smith. Brown made the decision he believed was right for his career, and Philadelphia must now build around the talent that remains.

Stefon Diggs is still confident, still productive, and still making sure the rest of the NFL understands how he views himself.
The free-agent wide receiver said in a video posted on his YouTube channel that there is no No. 2 wide receiver in the league better than him. Diggs, 32, framed the argument around the idea that every team may claim to have a No. 1 receiver, but only a handful of players truly fit that description.
"My opinion, I can compete with anybody," Diggs said. "But take those [top wide receivers] as your 1s, right? You can't name a No. 2 better than me."
That comment is interesting on its own. It becomes even more interesting when viewed through a Philadelphia Eagles lens.

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers received exactly that kind of recognition after checking in at No. 71 on the NFL's annual Top 100 Players list.
Most are familiar. For those who aren't, this is a ranking voted on by fellow players. For a young receiver entering his fourth NFL season, it's another sign that his reputation continues growing well beyond Baltimore. Flowers has steadily evolved into the Ravens' top receiving threat since arriving as a first-round pick in 2023.
His speed, route-running ability, and explosiveness after the catch have made him one of Lamar Jackson's most trusted targets while creating problems for opposing secondaries every week. The NFL Top 100 has always carried a little extra significance because it reflects the opinions of players who study film, compete against one another, and understand how difficult sustained success can be. Flowers' placement at No. 71 suggests his peers recognize what Ravens fans have watched over the past three seasons.
Flowers is no longer simply an emerging young receiver. He's becoming one of the league's most respected playmakers. The recognition also arrives at an important time for Baltimore's offense. Flowers has firmly established himself as the Ravens' No. 1 wide receiver.
The organization continues searching for additional production around him. Rashod Bateman is looking to bounce back, while younger receivers like Devontez Walker, LaJohntay Wester, Ja'Kobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt hope to carve out important or larger roles.

Jenkins and Eli Stowers were among those involved, while Makai Lemon continues working through a hamstring injury.
The trip was about more than throwing routes.
It included training, workouts, golf, and bonding, giving Hurts a chance to build timing and chemistry with a new-look supporting cast before training camp. For a quarterback entering another offensive transition, that type of work can matter. Hurts is learning from another play-caller and has dealt with uncommon coordinator turnover throughout his career. NBC Sports Philadelphia reported last month that Hurts is entering 2026 with his sixth offensive coordinator and seventh play-caller in seven NFL seasons.

This isn’t the first offseason that Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has worked with his teammates to build chemistry and rapport ahead of training camp. This is, however, the most extensive look we’ve had of Hurts and most of the skill players spending time together both on and off the field. The group was in Orlando for the weekend, and got a workout in at UCF.
Throughout all the posts from their time together, it looks like all four quarterbacks were in attendance (Hurts, Tanner McKee, Andy Dalton, and Cole Payton), plus most of the wide receivers and tight ends on the roster — Makai Lemon is still rehabbing a hamstring injury which probably is his sole priority at the moment.

Statistically, this was the No. 1 pick of the 2026 NFL draft's best performance of the season, completing 24 of 28 pass attempts (85.7 percent) for 332 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. According to Pro Football Focus , one of those incompletions was due to a drop, and he tossed a couple of "big-time" throws to make the outing even more efficient and impressive.
So the negative plays were few and far between in this outing, allowing us to focus on the positives in this breakdown of the new Las Vegas Raiders quarterback's performance and to dive into how his arm strength stood out in East Lansing, Michigan.
Beyond bombing the ball down the field, one way that Mendoza showed off his arm strength in this game was by putting velocity on his short to intermediate throws to beat coverage.
It's third and 12 here, and Indiana runs a variation of four verts from a two-by-two formation. The outside receivers run go routes that they can convert into curls, as Elijah Sarratt does at the bottom of the screen, and the slot receivers run seam routes. However, Michigan State plays quarters coverage, which is a good defense for the offense's play call.

The Eagles will not know their final rookie hierarchy until the pads come on in a few weeks, but several first-year players already have clear paths to immediate roles on offense, defense, and special teams.
Makai Lemon has the most obvious offensive opportunity. With A.J. Brown traded to New England and DeVonta Smith stepping into the No. 1 receiver role, Philadelphia needs a rookie who can add explosiveness, separation, and yards-after-catch ability. Lemon's draft status and skill set should give him every chance to become an early contributor, even with Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, Dontayvion Wicks , and Elijah Moore also competing for snaps.
Eli Stowers is another offensive rookie to watch. Dallas Goedert remains the top tight end, and Johnny Mundt gives the Eagles a blocking presence, but Stowers brings long-term receiving upside. If he can handle enough of the blocking and ***** ignment work, he could carve out a role in two-tight-end packages and red-zone situations.
Along the offensive line, Jake Majors , Hollin Pierce , Jaeden Roberts , Willie Lampkin , Myles Hinton , and Cameron Williams enter camp trying to earn depth roles. Philadelphia rarely rushes young linemen unless forced, but roster spots behind Jordan Mailata , Landon ***** erson , Cam Jurgens , Tyler Steen , and Lane Johnson remain important.
Defensively, Drew Mukuba has the clearest rookie path. The Eagles have reshaped the secondary, and Mukuba's range, instincts, and coverage versatility give him a chance to compete for meaningful safety snaps immediately. His development could also help Vic Fangio keep Cooper DeJean in a flexible nickel role.

Gakpo started for the Dutch in the last-32 tie in Monterrey on Monday and struck home the opener late in the second-half and immediately welled up while kneeling on the floor.

The four teams above Georgia aren't from the SEC, so Georgia has the best defense in the SEC. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Indiana Hoosiers, and Oregon Ducks are above the Bulldogs. The Alabama Crimson Tide are tied with the Georgia Bulldogs for the highest defensive rating in the SEC.
Last season, Georgia had just the No. 12 defense in yards allowed per game (306.0) and points allowed per game (18.5). However, several of the highest-rated Georgia Bulldogs are on the defense.
Transfer safeties Ja'Marley Riddle and Khalil Barnes, along with defensive lineman Elijah Griffin, are rated very highly, earning 87 ratings. They also have a 95 overall K.J. LEXINGTON — After being hired on December 1, the first full recruiting class under Kentucky football coach Will Stein is continuing to come together.
He made his biggest splash so far April 12: Jake Nawrot, one of the nation's most highly touted 2027 quarterbacks, picked UK over his other three finalists (Iowa, Kansas State and Oregon). Per the 247Sports Composite rankings, Nawrot is the No. 5 QB in the 2027 cycle.
Nawrot isn't the only four-star that Stein and his staff have been able to land. Other blue-chip commits include offensive linemen Ian Walker and Dominic Black, defensive linemen Elijah Brown and Malachi Brown, linebacker Sean Fox, safety Tristen Hughes and cornerback Miles Brown.
Kentucky was also able to flip a unique commit — Tyler Fryman. The four-star wide receiver was originally committed to play baseball at Louisville, but decommitted June 23 and decided to commit to Will Stein and the Wildcats on June 26.
Kentucky held a commitment from four-star wideout Iveon Lewis when he pledged on May 9. Lewis has since flipped his commitment, deciding to switch to South Carolina.
