Barcelona star Alejandro Balde remains outside the plans of head coach Hansi Flick as things stand. This comes with the Spaniard having been knocked well down the left-back pecking order in Catalunya's capital.
Defender Balde was of course heavily linked with a move away from Barcelona during the summer transfer window.
After it was widely reported that the Spaniard had been made available for the right price, Premier League giants Manchester United were hotly tipped as a potential landing spot.
In the end, Balde stayed put, eager to fight for his place in the plans of long-time employers Barca. But as alluded to above, as of this moment, the 22-year-old has not managed to win back the trust of his manager.
As per a report from Diario Sport, following the breakout of youngster Xavi Espart, and permanent signing of João Cancelo:

#Barcelona #plans #back

Joao Cancelo has made no secret of his biggest ambition at Barcelona, with the Portuguese defender dreaming of lifting the UEFA Champions League trophy with the Blaugrana.
Cancelo made his first start of the season against Feyenoord on Wednesday, completing the full 90 minutes as Barcelona opened their European campaign with an important victory and a strong performance.
The summer signing was delighted to finally play a major role and believes Barça have made the right start in their pursuit of European success.
Yet, he knows the Champions League campaign is only beginning.
Speaking to Barcelona's official media (h/t MARCA), Cancelo highlighted the importance of playing at home in Europe while making his personal target clear.

#start #joao #portuguese

Barcelona look to continue their perfect start to the season and kick off a new European journey with a win as they welcome Dutch giants Feyenoord to Camp Nou for their Champions League league phase debut.
Here's how we think Hansi Flick will line up his troops for Wednesday's battle:
Barça cruised to a comfortable win against Valencia with Hansi Flick able to rest a few starters while the team didn't have to spend too much energy in the second half, so we are expecting a strong team once again for the European opener.
Eric Garcia broke his nose on Sunday and is suspended for this one due to his red card in Barça's elimination game against Atlético Madrid last season, so Jules Kounde is guaranteed to start at right-back. Pau Cubarsí will start at center-back and we think Andreas Christensen, who has been healthy and performed well to start the season, will be picked as his partner ahead of Gerard Martín.
Xavi Espart has played every second of football so far and João Cancelo didn't feature at all against Valencia, so we think the Portuguese will make his first start of the season at left-back to give Espart a chance to rest.

The next Barcelona match is upon us! The Blaugrana travel to Mestalla for a La Liga game against Valencia, and Hansi Flick has called up the following 24 players for Sunday's clash:
Goalkeepers: 1. Joan Garcia, 13. Wojciech Szczesny, 25. Dominik Livakovic
Defenders: 2. João Cancelo, 3. Alejandro Balde, 5. Pau Cubarsí, 12. Xavi Espart, 15. Andreas Christensen, 18. Gerard Martín, 23. Jules Kounde, 24. Eric Garcia
Midfielders: 4. Brian Fariñas, 6. Gavi, 7. Fermín López, 8. Pedri, 16. Rodri, 20. Dani Olmo, 22. Marc Bernal
Forwards: 9. Gabriel Jesus, 10. Lamine Yamal, 11. Raphinha, 14. Karim Adeyemi, 17. Anthony Gordon, 29. Hamza Abdelkarim

Barcelona will play their first home LaLiga fixture of the season at the Camp Nou on Thursday, hosting Athletic Club in a midweek encounter.
The hosts arrive in excellent form after an emphatic 5-0 victory over Elche that launched their campaign. Under Hansi Flick, Barcelona have displayed sharp tactics and a potent attacking threat. They have claimed three wins in their past five league outings, with their forward play clicking — averaging just over two goals per game during that period.
FC Barcelona look set to hand a long-awaited club debut to high-profile summer signing Rodri, who has completed successive training sessions following a minor back operation and is expected to be named among the substitutes.
Flick appears ready to tweak his back line at the Spotify Camp Nou, with Pau Cubarsí, Jules Koundé and João Cancelo likely to return to the starting XI after being rested last time out.
The Catalans do, however, face a midfield concern as Gavi is doubtful after suffering a heavy knee contusion against Elche; scans excluded a serious ligament injury, but he missed the squad's final training session.

Although the Bundesliga season is about to begin, Borussia Dortmund are still in the hunt for defensive reinforcements. According to Ruhr Nachrichten and numerous other sources, the BVB front office is in negotiations with FC Barcelona for right-back and La Masia graduate Hector Fort. While a deal has not yet been reached, the club is reportedly confident that the transfer will go through soon.
The transfer fee will likely be within the €10-20 million range, with Barcelona willing to go a little lower if Dortmund is willing to add a sell-on clause. While other clubs including Real Sociedad are interested, Fort apparently has a clear preference for Dortmund.
Fort has not had much senior experience. He spent last season on loan at Elche, where he played about 500 minutes, missing most of the season with a shoulder injury. At least he suffered this injury while celebrating a spectacular goal which was apparently voted the La Liga Goal of the Month for December.
While Fort is viewed highly in Barcelona, there is little room in the squad with Eric Garcia, João Cancelo, and at Xavi Espart all ready to play at right-back. With the departure of Yan Couto to Como, BVB desperately need reinforcements at right-back. Hopefully Ole Book can get the move across the line soon.

The next Barcelona match is upon us! The Blaugrana kick off a new season with a trip to Elche for the first La Liga game of the campaign, and Hansi Flick has called up the following 23 players for Sunday's clash:
Goalkeepers: Joan Garcia, Wojciech Szczesny, Eder Aller
Defenders: João Cancelo, Pau Cubarsí, Andreas Christensen, Gerard Martín, Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia, Álvaro Cortés, Jordi Pesquer
Midfielders: Gavi, Fermín López, Pedri, Dani Olmo, Marc Bernal, Brian Fariñas, Xavi Espart
Forwards: Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Karim Adeyemi, Anthony Gordon, Hamza Abdelkarim

Alejandro Balde has been left out of the Barcelona's squad for Sunday's La Liga clash against Elche and looks increasingly like he's heading for an exit before the close of the transfer window.
Reports yesterday claimed that Balde has decided to move on after fresh talks between the club and his agent Jorge Mendes.
Barcelona boss Hansi Flick now seems to have made it pretty clear there's no place at Barca for Balde this season, with the left-back not part of the travelling squad for the trip to Elche. There's no injury for Balde, it's simply a tactical decision.
Manchester United, Aston Villa and Benfica have all been linked with Balde in the last week as the youngster looks to find a new club for the 2026-27 season.
Meanwhile, Jordi Pesquer has been named in the squad for the game against Elche, while Joao Cancelo also gets the nod after completing his permanent transfer from Al-Hilal.

Benfica and Aston Villa have both made initial enquiries to sign Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde, according to Diario SPORT. The 22-year-old has reportedly instructed his agent, Jorge Mendes, to find him a new club before the transfer window closes.
Hansi Flick and Deco do not consider Balde a priority, according to reporting relayed by Tribuna. Barcelona are prioritising João Cancelo's return to reinforce the backline. Balde's reduced priority and his willingness to consider a move have been reported as separate developments.
Joao Cancelo presents his FC Barcelona jersey during his official unveiling.
Benfica have submitted a proposal of around €20 million, with Barcelona's valuation expectations presenting an obstacle. The report says creative sell-on clauses would be required to bridge that gap.
Aston Villa remain interested in signing a top-class left-back, but any move for Balde is contingent on the club generating late transfer funds through player sales.

Earlier today, reports emerged suggesting that Alejandro Balde had decided to leave FC Barcelona before the transfer window closes.
The 22-year-old left-back faces competition for a starting berth now that Joao Cancelo has been re-signed permanently.
Moreover, reports suggest that Barça manager Hansi Flick has some doubts the player as well.
The German's pointed remark at the La Masia graduate during his press conference earlier today seemed to underline the point, which eventually gave way to rumours of a departure.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Balde is not giving up.

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has turned heads across the Spanish football landscape this weekend. This comes owing to a round of comments on the situation of Blaugrana star Alejandro Balde.
Defender Balde has of course seen his name emerge as a prominent one in the media chatter surrounding Barcelona over recent days. After the Camp Nou brass finally pushed a permanent deal for João Cancelo over the line, Balde was swiftly tipped to move on.
The left-back is for his part fresh off a challenging campaign last time out, which saw him lose starting status owing to a combination of fitness woes and a simple lack of form.
Premier League heavyweights Manchester United, in turn, are recently understood to have made contact over a potential deal for Balde ahead of the transfer deadline.
Speaking during his first pre-match press conference of the new campaign on Saturday, the aforementioned Hansi Flick was therefore drawn on the situation of his defensive star.

Alejandro Balde's future at FC Barcelona has been generating plenty of speculation throughout the summer transfer window.
As already reported, the coaching staff led by manager Hansi Flick had doubts about the 22-year-old. But the player and his representatives insisted that he had no intention of leaving the La Liga champions.
However, with the transfer window approaching its final stretch, the situation has flipped completely as the La Masia graduate has changed their stance.
Indeed, Balde has accepted that a departure is now very much a possibility after the signing of Joao Cancelo earler this week.
As such, Balde has given his agent, Jorge Mendes, the green light to use his contacts and find him a new club during the remaining 10 days of the summer window.

The transfer market is entering its final days packed with key moves among Europe's biggest clubs. Official unveilings, ultimatums in the boardrooms, and the arrival of goals in LaLiga define a day in which the ambition of the new signings promises to shake up the football landscape.
Real Madrid's new player spoke in an interview with SportyTV. The Ivorian footballer did not hide his desire to succeed under the club's banner, delivering a strong message: "I will give everything on the pitch and God will do the rest". He also described himself as a "soldier of Mourinho" and made it clear that when the Madrid club calls you, there can be no hesitation.
After Atlético de Madrid's definitive "no" to negotiating the transfer of Julián Álvarez, FC Barcelona's sporting management has activated Plan B. Lautaro Martínez has emerged as the top priority to strengthen the Blaugrana attack. In the Barça offices, they see a deal with Inter Milan as feasible for a fee below 100 million euros.
It was a day of debuts in the capital and in Barcelona. Ibrahima Konaté wore the Real Madrid shirt for the first time, expressing his dream of "winning the Champions League." Meanwhile, Barça officially unveiled João Cancelo, who signed his contract until 2029, saying he is ready to compete immediately.
On the pitch, Getafe took a giant step by beating Partizan Belgrade 3-1 in the first leg of the Conference League qualifying round. The Madrid side are now well on course for a place in the final stage of the European tournament after an outstanding performance in front of their fans.

An insight into the plans of those in a position of power at La Liga champions Barcelona to register the club's crop of summer signings for action in Spain's top-flight has come to the fore online.
This of course comes fresh off a busy couple of days on the incomings front at the Spotify Camp Nou…
Over the last 48 hours alone, Hansi Flick has seen his squad reinforced courtesy of a pair of high-profile additions. First through the door was Manchester City midfielder Rodri, followed in short order by João Cancelo's return from Al-Hilal.
These two add to previous deals for Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, amid something of a squad revolution in Catalunya's capital this summer.
As of this moment, however, none of the aforementioned quartet are registered to take to the pitch in league play… Just days out from Barcelona's La Liga season opener against Elche, Hansi Flick and his staff are technically unable to call on any of Rodri, Cancelo, Gordon or Adeyemi.

FC Barcelona have officially announced the signing of Joao Cancelo.
The Portuguese player has terminated his contract with Al Hilal and is set to begin a new chapter with Barcelona. This time on a permanent deal.
It could not be confirmed this past Wednesday in time for Joao to be officially presented to the Barça fans at the Joan Gamper Trophy, which sparked his anger, but it has been done this Thursday.
His versatility will strengthen both full-back positions, and he will provide strong competition for both Jules Koundé and Alejandro Balde.
He is expected to be presented in the coming hours.

Barcelona's summer has moved with that familiar blend of calculation, theatre and necessity, and now there is genuine momentum to examine. In a market where every move seems to carry a sporting purpose and a financial consequence, the Catalan club have reached an important juncture. Credit to The Athletic, the original source of these latest developments, for outlining a week that may yet define the rest of Barca's window.
What matters for Barcelona now is clarity. There has been activity, there has been sacrifice, and there is a clear sense of direction. Ferran Torres has gone to Paris Saint-Germain, Rodri is on his way in from Manchester City, Joao Cancelo is set to return on a free, and the club's hierarchy have narrowed their sights firmly on one remaining attacking priority. In the compressed language of modern recruitment, it all sounds neat. In the reality of Barcelona, it still carries layers of risk, ambition and pressure.
The first significant development is Ferran Torres' departure. As reported, "Ferran Torres' €50million move to PSG was made official." That sentence alone tells a wider story. Torres had talent, pedigree and moments of real quality, but he also represented one of those investments Barcelona had to manage carefully. From the club's perspective, this is far more than a footballing farewell. The report notes that "from a financial perspective, the Catalan club regards this deal as highly satisfactory", which is another way of saying Barca believe they have navigated a difficult piece of business with uncommon efficiency.
If the Torres exit was pragmatic, the Rodri move feels emblematic. Barcelona have "reached agreement with City over the signing of Rodri in a deal that could be worth up to €76.5million but involves an initial fee of €60m for the 30-year-old midfielder." It is a statement signing in age profile, in status and in intent. Rodri is not a speculative purchase, nor a developmental talent for the future. He is an accomplished operator arriving to impose order, rhythm and authority.
Rodri's arrival feels like the start of the final phase of this window, not the conclusion of it. He strengthens one line, but he also enables the club to move into the last stretch with a little more certainty and a little less suffocation from the wage structure.

Having confirmed the signing of Rodri from Manchester City, FC Barcelona are expected to soon announce the transfer of Joao Cancelo as well.
The final couple of weeks in the transfer window will see them fully focus on signing a new number-nine, while also try to offload some of the players who are not in Hansi Flick's plans.
One such player earmarked for a departure happens to be young right-back Hector Fort, who has a lot of interest but has yet to narrow down on his next destination.
As reported earlier today, Fort has emerged as an option for Real Sociedad. The Basque club have asked about the Barcelona full-back's situation.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, it will be a very complicated operation to pull off.

Joao Cancelo has arrived in Barcelona to complete a permanent move to Barcelona from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal and couldn't be happier.
The defender has agreed a contract termination with Al-Hilal and will now put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Barcelona.
After landing back in the city, the Portugal star had a few words for reporters: "I'm very happy, I'm very pleased to be here, I'm where I want to be. I trained separately for a week. I told Deco that either I came here or I'd spend a year there without playing, still getting paid.
"I gave up part of my salary, but it was either sign for Barça or nothing. It's a very special club, I'm here to help and I hope to win many ******* les. We're building a great team."
Cancelo is now back at Barcelona for a third spell and will be hoping to play a key role for Hansi Flick's side in the 2026-27 season.

The full agreement between Barcelona and Manchester City for Rodri Hernández is shaking up the summer transfer market, while Real Madrid wrap up their preseason with a big win and LaLiga gets its first season underway.
The Madrid-based press is focusing on the positive feelings around Real Madrid in the final stretch of their preparations. Marca leads its front page with the headline "A top-level Madrid" after their emphatic 0-3 win over Schalke 04, highlighting that Kylian Mbappé needed only six minutes to find the net.
For its part, AS leads with "Mbappé shines with Mourinho", underlining the French star's leadership and the strong defensive and goalscoring displays from players such as Huijsen and Espí. At the top, both papers agree in highlighting the imminent agreement between Barça and Manchester City for Rodri.
In the Catalan press, the real bombshell of the summer is stealing all the attention. Sport declares on its front page with a resounding "Signed!" to announce the full agreement for Rodri for a fee close to 60 million fixed plus add-ons.
Along very similar lines, Mundo Deportivo headlines "Rodri YES" and adds that João Cancelo will also arrive on a free transfer after ending his ties with Al Hilal. Both outlets round out their front pages with Barça's 2-5 win in Basel, featuring a brace from Bisiwu and major contributions from the youngsters.

La Liga champions Barcelona have this weekend closed an agreement to reinforce the club's defensive ranks. This comes amid long-awaited confirmation of João Cancelo taking his talents back to Catalunya's capital, this time round on a permanent basis.
Full-back Cancelo has of course seen his name dominate the media headlines surrounding Barcelona throughout the summer to date.
After impressing during a loan stint at the Camp Nou during the 2nd half of last season, the 32-year-old was not shy in making his desire to reunite with Hansi Flick's side known.
Barca, in turn, had long been working towards an agreement to make Cancelo's Blaugrana wishes come true…
And as alluded to above, this weekend, the reigning Spanish champions are finally understood to have landed their man. As per a report from transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano:

The barber of former Barcelona star João Cancelo on Sunday dropped a major hint regarding the Portuguese's future at club level. This of course comes amid ongoing speculation linking the defender with a move back to Catalunya's capital.
Full-back Cancelo for his part spent the 2nd half of last season plying his trade on loan in the colours of Barcelona. The 32-year-old went on to impress under the orders of Hansi Flick, establishing himself as an important contributor from left-back.
Deco and the Camp Nou brass, in turn, have long been hard at work to secure a deal with Al-Hilal to make Cancelo's signing a permanent one.
Recent days have seen reports begin to mount that an agreement is now closer than ever, with the transfer considered as all but imminent. And as alluded to above, on Sunday, a fresh hint regarding as much has surfaced, courtesy of a surprise source.
In a post on his official Instagram account, Cancelo's personal barber unveiled a photo of he and the former Manchester City man, accompanied by the caption:

Joao Cancelo is set to re-join Barcelona in the coming days after agreeing to terminate his contract with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
The defender has been given the green light to head to Barcelona after finally reaching an agreement with Al-Hilal, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The news will be a big boost to both player and club ahead of the start of the new La Liga season. Cancelo has made it clear he wants to stay, while Barcelona can now sign him on a free transfer.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Cancelo is expected to sign his contract at Barcelona on Tuesday and will put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Catalans.
The Portugal international will then start a third spell with Barcelona after enjoying two previous stints on loan under Xavi Hernandez and Hansi Flick.

Former Barcelona star João Cancelo has this weekend continued to hint that his return to the club can be considered all but imminent.
Defender Cancelo has of course seen his name linked with that of Spanish champions Barca throughout the summer transfer window to date.
After the Portuguese enjoyed a thoroughly productive 2nd loan stint in the colours of the Blaugrana during the 2nd half of last season, Hansi Flick and co. have made his signing – this time round on a permanent basis – something of a priority.
Negotiations over the terms of the transfer, in turn, have been ongoing between the Camp Nou brass and Saudi outfit Al-Hilal for several months now.
And though a definitive agreement is yet to be found, Cancelo himself remains fully confident in his dream Barcelona return ultimately coming to fruition.

Joao Cancelo is still waiting for the chance to return to Barcelona.
The Portuguese full-back is determined to continue his career with Hansi Flick's team, where he spent the second half of the last season on loan, but negotiations with Al-Hilal are proving more difficult than expected.
Barcelona began talks when the previous season ended. Cancelo's loan spell left a very positive impression at Spotify Camp Nou, and everything seemed ready for the Portuguese to return to Barcelona for €10 million.
However, according to recent reports, the terms of the transfer have changed in recent days as Al-Hilal are now asking for around €15 million.
Cancelo, meanwhile, continues to send signals to the club he wants to join. His latest came this Saturday on his personal Instagram account.

#cancelo #season #loan

The decisive days of the transfer window are approaching, and FC Barcelona are entering a period of major movement.
The club's priorities remain the arrivals of Rodri, Julian Alvarez and Joao Cancelo, but departures are just as important as they look to create the salary-cap room needed to complete Deco and Hansi Flick's ambitious plans.
Ronald Araujo has already left, while Barcelona expect Marc Casado to depart for around €40 million in the coming days.
Another player who could leave if a sufficiently attractive offer arrives is Jules Kounde. The Frenchman has returned to pre-season training, but ****** nal are closely monitoring his situation, reports SPORT.
If Kounde signals that he is open to leaving, the London club would be prepared to make a move for a defender capable of operating both at centre-back and right-back.

Barcelona have a number of talented La Masia starlets ready to break into the first team who are unlikely to get a chance due to the immense competition for places.
One such youngster who has been part of Hansi Flick's plans for two consecutive pre-seasons is Jofre Torrents.
The 19-year-old defender is competing with Alejandro Balde and Gerard Martin for a first-team spot and is unlikely to get much game time.
Barça are also pushing to sign Cancelo from Al Hilal, with the veteran Portuguese defender keen on securing a return to the club.
Thus, Torrents is unlikely to get much game time if he stays at Barça, and it was revealed that the club were finalising a loan deal with Ajax for the teenager.

La Liga giants Barcelona are closing on an imminent deal to bring João Cancelo back to the club. This comes as the Blaugrana inch ever closer to a definitive agreement with Saudi outfit Al-Hilal over the terms of a permanent transfer.
Defender Cancelo of course spent the 2nd half of this past season plying his trade in the colours of Barcelona, as part of a short-term loan.
The Portuguese went on to play a leading role for the the Spanish champions, establishing himself as a favourite of Hansi Flick and his staff. Barca, in turn, have long moved to make his signing a permanent one.
To date, a firm breakthrough has not been found in negotiations, as the two parties haggle over the details of the final transfer fee.
But as alluded to above, this week, an agreement appears closer than ever to being put in place once and for all. As per a report from Barcelona insider Adrian Sanchez:

#Barcelona #cancelo #agreement #transfer

Rodri has made his preference unambiguous: Real Madrid or nothing, according to Diario AS, with Barcelona's recent enquiry failing to register as a genuine alternative in the Manchester City midfielder's thinking. The Spanish newspaper reports that the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner is unfazed by the Blaugrana's interest and has a singular desire to return to his home city and play in white.
Rodri has not been coy about his intentions. Speaking publicly earlier in the saga, he made clear that declining an offer from one of the world's best clubs was not something he was prepared to do, and that the door on his end remained open. That has not changed since Barcelona entered the picture.
Diario AS report that despite an evident on-field chemistry with several Barcelona players through the Spain national team – Pedri and Lamine Yamal among them – Rodri has given no indication that Camp Nou holds any appeal. The only shirt he is thinking about is Real Madrid's. Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich had also been linked at various points, but both pulled back from a move once it became clear he wanted the white shirt, according to Goal.
Barcelona's interest, per Goal citing Cadena SER, has not yet progressed to a formal approach to Manchester City. Barcelona made contact with Rodri's entourage but have yet to speak to City directly. Frenkie de Jong's injury sparked Barcelona's interest in Rodri, though the Catalan club have since learned where his priority lies. Barcelona's focus remains on completing the signing of Cancelo and a striker following Robert Lewandowski's departure, and Goal notes that after spending 110 million euros on Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi and Jesse Baesio, finding a further 75 million euros for Rodri would be very difficult.
The awkward reality for Rodri is that his preference is not yet matched by equal enthusiasm from Los Blancos. Diario AS reported earlier in the year that Rodri did not feature in the club's future plans, and The Times noted that interest at the Bernabéu had cooled, with concerns about his fitness underpinning the hesitation.

Barcelona have focused exclusively on making attacking signings this summer, bringing in the likes of Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi and Jesse Bisiwu.
The club are keen on reinforcing the squad at Hansi Flick's disposal and are still trying to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.
One other player the club have been trying to sign for some time now is Joao Cancelo. The Al Hilal full-back spent the second half of last season on loan at the club.
Cancelo performed exceedingly well during his six-month stint at the club, with the 32-year-old displacing Alejandro Balde as the starter at left-back.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona remain confident that Cancelo will return to the club before the summer transfer window closes.
