Manuel Neuer is one of, if not, the greatest goalkeeper of all time. While he hasn't been the subject of much praise in recent months, we now have an opportunity to come and celebrate the legendary goalkeeper. This week after his start against Bodø/Glimt, Neuer became the oldest German player in the history of the Champions League.
He has now surpassed legendary German Jens Lehmann, who also played as a goalkeeper. It does seem to be goalkeepers breaking these records, but that doesn't take anything away from this accomplishment. Neuer's longevity is simply brilliant, no matter how much his performances have cooled down over the years.

While it is an opportunity to celebrate, some fans might take the opportunity to look at this a bit more skeptically. Is this an amazing accomplishment? Yes, but perhaps a world-class squad such as Bayern Munich should aim to have a different choice in goal, considering the club's starting goalkeeper is now over 40 years old.
Looking at other top clubs such as Real Madrid, ******* nal, and PSG, Neuer's age certainly does stand out in comparison to these club's goalkeepers. Food for thought.

They are the players who stand in front of shots traveling toward them at terrifying speeds. They dive headfirst toward boots, knees, elbows and goalposts. When the team is winning, they are rarely the center of attention. When things go wrong, however, the blame can fall squarely on their shoulders.

Celtic today signed goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone, on a season-long loan from Wolves, subject to international clearance.
The 33-year-old England internationalist will join Celtic's current goalkeepers Viljami Sinisalo and Ross Doohan, and will brings a wealth of experience from his time in English football since he began his career with Manchester United back in 2011.
He has spent the past two seasons at Wolves, and made 17 appearances for the club last season. He has also gained four caps for England, and kept a clean sheet in all four of those international games.

Newcastle United's goalkeeping department has undergone a huge transformation this summer following the arrivals of two new goalies and the departure of on-loan Aaron Ramsdale.
All of that left Nick Pope facing the prospect of beginning the new Premier League season outside Matthias Jaissle's starting XI, if not entirely out of Tyneside, as there have been suggestions of a likely sale ahead of the new campaign.

The Saudi Arabian U23 goalkeeper joins the Belgian Pro League side as back up to the talented Leo Kokubo, with the 25-year-old from ******* an having been one of the top goalkeepers in the league last season. Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has made the club's goalkeeping hierarchy clear ahead of the new season: Manuel Neuer remains the undisputed No. 1, but Jonas Urbig will once again be given opportunities between the posts.

Real Madrid have announced their squad list for Sunday's preseason friendly against Schalke 04, the last friendly of this year's preseason stage.
REAL MADRID SQUAD LIST:
Goalkeepers: Courtois, Lunin, and Illia.
Defenders: Huijsen, Trent, Konaté, Cucurella, Á. Carreras, Rüdiger, Dumfries, and Mario Rivas.
Midfielders: Bellingham, Camavinga, Valverde, Arda Güler, Bernardo, Cestero, and Alexis Ciria.
Forwards: Vini Jr., Mbappé, C. Espí, Brahim, and Diomande.
This time, Mourinho will have his stars at his disposal. Still, most of those players have only trained with the group for a couple of sessions, so they should not be expected to play heavy minutes.

Michele Di Gregorio struggled during Juventus' 2-1 loss against Inter Milan in a recent friendly match, conceding two goals that he could arguably have saved. The goalkeeper made several fine saves during the game and performed well in other moments, but the goals he conceded could have been avoided and once again highlighted why Juventus are considering adding another goalkeeper to their squad this summer.
Di Gregorio joined Juventus from Monza as one of the finest goalkeepers in Italian football, and there were high expectations that he would continue to improve after moving to Turin. However, it remains difficult to determine whether he has developed as expected, with his performances continuing to be inconsistent.
The goalkeeper has shown that he can produce top-class performances, but he can also make costly mistakes only minutes later. That inconsistency has become a concern for Juventus, who need greater reliability in goal if they are to compete at the highest level.
At present, Di Gregorio shares the number one role with Mattia Perin, partly because of concerns over his reliability. Luciano Spalletti is therefore pushing for the club to sign another goalkeeper, which could increase competition for the position and provide Juventus with another dependable option.
The need for another goalkeeper has become more apparent following Di Gregorio's performance against Inter Milan. Although his mistakes were costly, Spalletti did not place the blame entirely on his goalkeeper.
