New Delhi: A controversy is never far from Delhi cricket. As the third edition of the Delhi Premier League T20 comes to a close, Delhi and District Cricket ******* ociation (DDCA) president Rohan Jaitley spoke to TOI on the pressing issues...

How has the DPL benefitted Delhi cricket so far?

DPL has been consistently throwing up names who are fetching good prices in the IPL. We expect a few more this year. But it has turned around the women's game altogether. The senior Delhi team won the women's national one-day tournament. The U-23 team has won once and finished runners-up once.

How does it impact the revenue?

All I can say is that the DDCA can now take care of the expenses for all the Delhi state teams across age-groups and genders throughout the year with the profit we make from this league.

There have been doubts cast on quality of players playing, especially with the Dev Chaudhary controversy...

DDCA, by principle, revisits every regulation of the league after each season. I feel for the boy for what he has to go through.

What's the plan with the new stadium?

We have identified two spots in Delhi. One is the landfill in Okhla and the other is near Badarpur. We are in the process of finalising the venue to build a stadium with 70-80k capacity. We are in talks with BCCI to come up with suggestions or a collaboration to create a state-of-the-art facility.

Many players avoid playing Ranji Trophy and just focus on T20 leagues...

That is something we have observed, especially with a few senior fast bowlers. We will keep a close watch on them this season. If they dodge Ranji Trophy, they will not be considered for Delhi in other formats.

Dave Hanna was there when it all began.
He'd just started his senior year at BYU in the fall of 1972, helping defray the costs of higher education by working for Dave Schultess in the sports information office, when an unproven ***** istant named LaVell Edwards took over as the Cougars' head football coach.
Up close and personal, Dave watched Edwards' inaugural season and then, after being accepted into graduate school, the next two seasons as well. His job with the SID department was to go to the BYU locker room after games to gather quotes for the media.
Thus he was there in the locker room at the old Cougar Stadium (capacity 30,000) on Nov. 9, 1974, after BYU defeated 16th-ranked Arizona State 21-18 — one of the biggest wins, if not the biggest, to that point in the Cougars' rather meager football history.
He was gathering quotes when LaVell walked in and started addressing the players … and then stopped. The coach was unable to continue because emotion overtook him. All he could do as he struggled without success to gain composure was give the team a thumbs-up and stand down.

Even after an avalanche of roster moves at Sunday's deadline for final cuts, the San Francisco 49ers still have plenty of work to do on their roster.
With a handful of players likely returning to the club in some capacity, the 49ers will need to free up some roster spots. They could do that via the outright release of someone who made the first version of the 53-man roster. They can also create roster spots by placing players from the 53-man group on IR. Players who are on the roster and then go on IR can be designated for return. Players who are placed on IR before final cuts can't return, save for the maximum two players who are allowed to be given return designations.
One key with the return designations that come down at final cuts is that they count toward the maximum eight IR returns for the season, even if they never come off IR. That forces teams to be strategic with how they utilize those IR slots on cutdown day.
Now that we know what the 49ers' initial 53-man roster looks like, and we know they'll need to clear up a couple of roster spots, here are seven players who could be tagged for IR now that they've made the initial roster:
Lowe suffered a high ankle sprain early in camp. There's a chance he'll be ready for the season opener or within the first couple weeks of the season which would allow him to avoid the minimum four-week absence that comes with an IR stint. Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed to reporters Lowe was an IR candidate at final cuts. He may still be one now that he's on the team.

Interested in Qnity Electronics, Inc.? Here are five stocks we like better.
AI, advanced packaging and thermal management are Qnity Electronics' primary growth drivers. The company says its advanced-packaging business could double over the next several years, while thermal-management demand is growing even faster.
Qnity is expanding clean-room and manufacturing capacity in Delaware and Taiwan to address semiconductor-materials demand, particularly in advanced logic, HBM and DRAM. Node migration toward 2-nanometer and gate-all-around designs is also increasing materials intensity and benefiting its CMP business.
The company targets margin expansion through higher-value products and a transformation program expected to generate about $100 million in EBITDA benefits over several years. Capital priorities include organic capacity and R&D investment, selective bolt-on acquisitions and share repurchases mainly to offset dilution.

Sandisk (NASDAQ: SNDK) has taken investors on a ride in 2026. It's still the best-performing component of the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) this year, but lost a significant amount of value since its highs in late June.
Sandisk is down around 35% since then, but is this a screaming bargain that investors should scoop up in September, or is this stock better left alone?
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Let's take a look at some trends and see if Sandisk's sell-off occurred for a good reason or if now is the time to strike.
Sandisk makes NAND memory, which is often used for long-term information storage. There is currently a huge memory chip shortage, mainly because the AI data center buildout has consumed all available capacity. There isn't much that separates one memory chip producer from another, so the entire market is fairly commoditized. Commoditized products follow economic theory very closely, and this dictates that as supply is low and demand is high, prices soar.

An offensive penalty followed by a sack moved Tennessee State football back to the 20-yard line on fourth down, but still well within reach of kicker Preston Hurless, who had a 47-yarder against Jackson State earlier in the John Merritt Classic at Vanderbilt's FirstBank Stadium on Aug. 29.
Hurless never got the chance to attempt what would have been a 37-yard field goal. Holder Truette Tumey had trouble handling a bad snap by Jaydon Vester, and Hurless was unable to even attempt to kick the ball.
Jackson State (1-0) held on for a 26-24 win in front of a near-capacity crowd of 32,467 in the season opener for both teams.
Second-year TSU coach Reggie Barlow said all three facets in the field goal kicking game failed on the bungled play.
"I think the snap was a little bit low and the holder had a little issue with timing to actually get it down," Barlow said. "And when he got it down, you know, for those kickers once they've got that rhythm before the ball gets placed, it kind of threw off production there."

Qiagen N.V. (NYSE:QGEN) announced on August 10 that the U.S. FDA cleared its QIAstat-Dx BCID GPF Plus AMR Panel, marking the company's first entry into the U.S. bloodstream infection testing market. Operating on the QIAstat-Dx platform, which boasts over 5,200 global placements, the automated panel detects 20 gram-positive bacterial and fungal targets, alongside 10 genetic antimicrobial resistance markers, in about one hour.
This regulatory milestone comes shortly after Qiagen N.V. (NYSE:QGEN) reported solid Q2 2026 financial results on August 5. Net sales reached $535 million (flat YoY at constant exchange rates), beating guidance for a 2% decline. Adjusted diluted EPS rose 3% YoY to $0.62, topping expectations. Performance across core growth pillars (+5% CER), including Sample Technologies (+9% CER) and QIAcuity digital PCR, helped offset a 7% drop in QIAstat-Dx respiratory testing sales. QGEN reaffirmed its full-year 2026 outlook for 1%–2% CER net sales growth and adjusted EPS of at least $2.43.
Additionally, Qiagen announced that Jonathan Pratt will take over as CEO effective September 1, succeeding Thierry Bernard. Joining at a pivotal time, Pratt will lead executive execution following an intensive portfolio evaluation and ongoing corporate efficiency programs.
This brings up a key question: Does the FDA clearance and steady execution under incoming leadership position Qiagen N.V. (NYSE:QGEN) for a valuation rerating, or will soft regional demand and product mix headwinds keep shares range-bound?
Bulls argue that Qiagen's high-margin, consumable-driven business model (comprising 90% of total Q2 sales) provides defensive recurring cash flow, generating $301 million in H1 operating cash flow. The new FDA approval expands QIAstat-Dx into its fourth major infectious disease area in the U.S., unlocking higher-margin hospital diagnostic channels. Furthermore, solid growth across core pillars like Sample Technologies and QIAcuity demonstrates fundamental demand. Strong internal cash generation also gives incoming CEO Jonathan Pratt ample balance sheet capacity to pursue disciplined capital deployment and portfolio innovation.

On August 3, TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) signed an agreement to acquire Shell plc (NYSE:SHEL)'s entire onshore renewables business in Europe. The acquisition includes 500 MW of operational or under-construction solar and wind ******* ets primarily in Italy and the Netherlands, alongside a 3.5 GW pipeline of solar, wind, and battery storage projects across Italy, the UK, and Spain. Set for completion by late 2026 pending regulatory approval, the deal directly advances TotalEnergies' European Integrated Power strategy, bolstering its existing portfolio of roughly 10 GW in gross capacity/construction and 27 GW under development. Following the news on August 3, Piper Sandler ******* yst John Royall raised Shell's price target from $88 to $89 while maintaining a Neutral rating, citing strong Q2 trading beats.
Both Big Oil majors reported robust Q2 2026 results driven by operational efficiency, yet distinct financial profiles emerge. TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) generated adjusted net income of $6.0 billion and cash flow from operations (CFFO) of $9.8 billion on 2.395 Mboe/d production, keeping Upstream operating costs down to $5/b despite Middle East transit disruptions. Shell outperformed on sheer cash generation, posting $9.8 billion in Adjusted Earnings and CFFO of $21.4 billion, supported by record upstream production in Brazil, record refinery utilization, and a $3.4 billion working capital inflow.
TotalEnergies retains a leaner debt profile with a gearing ratio of 13.1% ($3.3 billion net debt reduction), whereas Shell holds a 19% gearing ratio with $42 billion in net debt ($12 billion excluding leases). While Shell plc (NYSE:SHEL) leads on top-line cash generation, TotalEnergies displays superior balance sheet leverage and higher quarter-over-quarter cash flow growth (+15%).
TotalEnergies' bull case is supported by strong execution of its Integrated Power strategy, with expanding high-margin renewable power capacity alongside low Upstream costs of approximately $5 per barrel. Its healthy balance sheet, reflected in 13.1% gearing, provides financial flexibility to support a 5.9% dividend increase to €0.90 per share while continuing $1.5 billion in quarterly share buybacks. However, the bear case centers on weakness in Integrated LNG, particularly from underperforming European gas trading. Continued exposure to geopolitical disruptions along Middle Eastern transit corridors could also restrict physical oil liftings and weigh on operations.

NFL stadiums are more than places where football games are played. The best ones become part of the identity of their teams and cities. Some have huge crowds, great views and modern facilities. Others stand out because of history, tradition, tailgating or the feeling inside the building.
The 2026 season brings another major change to that landscape. The Buffalo Bills have moved across the street into a brand-new Highmark Stadium. The new building has a fixed capacity of 60,108, making it the NFL's smallest stadium. Standing-room areas can add about 6,000 more fans. Its roof covers most of the crowd, while the grass field, open concourses and player facilities mark a major upgrade from the old stadium.
MORE: 7 best things about NFL preseason games only real fans appreciate
Highmark Stadium is exempt because it is still settling into its new home. It will likely be one of the best once fans have had more time to experience it during a full season.
So, that leaves 29 regularly used NFL stadiums, considering the New York Giants and Jets share MetLife Stadium and the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers co-habit SoFi Stadium. Let's get a deep dive on every NFL stadium.

Almonty Industries Inc. (NASDAQ:ALM) began a 36-month share-repurchase authorization on August 24 that permits the company to buy up to 14.4 million common shares, representing approximately 5% of shares outstanding as of August 14, for as much as US$300 million.
The headline amount overstates what Almonty Industries Inc. (NASDAQ:ALM) would spend at its current valuation. At the August 24 closing price of $18.28, repurchasing the full 14.4 million shares would cost approximately $263.2 million before transaction costs. The share limit would become the binding constraint unless the average purchase price exceeds roughly $20.83.
The buyback is financially plausible because Almonty Industries Inc. (NASDAQ:ALM) ended June with C$1.23 billion of cash. First-half operating cash flow reached C$31.6 million, compared with a C$14.9 million outflow a year earlier, while second-quarter revenue increased to C$43.0 million from C$7.2 million.
Sangdong is also moving beyond construction. Almonty Industries Inc. (NASDAQ:ALM) began feeding stockpiled ore into the processing plant in June to produce saleable tungsten concentrate. Phase I is designed for approximately 640,000 tonnes of annual ore throughput, and the planned Phase II expansion could increase capacity to approximately 1.2 million tonnes.
If management is correct that the market undervalues Sangdong's future cash flow, retiring shares before the mine reaches full output could increase each remaining shareholder's participation in that growth. Almonty Industries Inc. (NASDAQ:ALM) also has flexibility to spread purchases across three years rather than committing the entire amount immediately.

On August 21, Insteel Industries Inc. (NYSE:IIIN) announced plans to close its Upper Sandusky, Ohio, welded wire reinforcement facility. Operations are expected to cease by the end of October 2026, with production requirements transferred to the company's remaining plants. Management says those facilities have "ample open capacity" and does not expect the consolidation to affect revenue.
The closure is expected to eliminate up to 65 positions and generate approximately $4.6 million of restructuring charges. That includes $2.5 million for equipment relocation, $400,000 for employee separation, $1.0 million for ***** et impairment and $700,000 of other closure costs. All but the impairment are expected to be cash expenditures beginning in the first quarter of fiscal 2027 and continuing through the year.
For Insteel Industries Inc. (NYSE:IIIN), the announcement confirms meaningful excess welded-wire capacity, but it does not quantify it. The company provided no production tonnage, utilization percentage, or annual savings estimate. The clearest evidence is operational: management believes the remaining plants can absorb all Upper Sandusky requirements without losing revenue.
Insteel Industries Inc. (NYSE:IIIN) currently operates 11 U.S. manufacturing facilities. Earlier company materials identified eight as welded-wire plants and three as prestressed-concrete-strand plants, implying that the closure would leave seven welded-wire facilities, ***** uming no other footprint changes.
Consolidation could improve margins at Insteel Industries Inc. (NYSE:IIIN) by spreading production across fewer sites, raising utilization and eliminating duplicated labor and fixed costs. The $2.5 million equipment-relocation charge indicates that useful machinery will be transferred rather than abandoned.

Technology company Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) builds the core underlying enterprise technology, including software, cloud, and hardware, that large corporations, banks, healthcare providers, and governments use to run their daily operations.
As Oracle expands its cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, Bloom Energy (NYSE: BE) has emerged as its single largest specialized power partner, securing a massive deal in April to supply up to 2.8 gigawatts (GW) of on-site fuel cell electricity.
Continue »
Because public electrical grids take years to approve and connect massive industrial loads, Oracle relies on a mix of traditional utility grids, clean energy developers, and fast-deploying, on-site solutions, but Bloom is the largest part of that mix, especially because its fuel cells can generate electricity with minimal emissions.
Under a master services agreement, Oracle contracted for an initial 1.2 GW of solid oxide fuel cell capacity, which scaled up to 2.8 GW. Because Bloom's natural gas-fueled power servers can be installed directly on-site in as little as 55 to 90 days, they allow Oracle to bypass standard grid queue bottlenecks.

CNBC reported on August 21, 2026, that Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) is in talks to raise $70 billion to $80 billion in debt for a chip financing deal supporting AI companies, including Anthropic. The senior tranche, repaid first, is expected to be around $45 billion, with a junior tranche around $35 billion, though the figures remain flexible. Bloomberg first reported the deal could reach $100 billion in total, with Blackstone and Apollo Global Management among the firms in talks to participate. The raise would extend a partnership Broadcom, Apollo, and Blackstone unveiled in June, which committed $35 billion to expand Anthropic's computing infrastructure using Broadcom's custom chips. Broadcom shares rose about 1% on the news.
The deal strengthens Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO)'s position as critical infrastructure for AI labs beyond Nvidia's ecosystem. Broadcom designs custom chips for Alphabet, Meta, Anthropic, and OpenAI, and this financing extends its role in helping major AI labs reduce dependence on a single chip supplier. That diversification of demand sources gives Broadcom a structurally different customer relationship than a pure merchant chip seller.
The financing structure keeps this exposure off Broadcom's own balance sheet in its rawest form. A special-purpose vehicle raises the debt and leases the chips back to customers like Anthropic, rather than Broadcom borrowing the money directly. Structuring growth capital this way lets Broadcom participate in AI infrastructure buildout without carrying the full debt load on its own books.
The scale of plans shows durable demand rather than a one-off transaction. The original June partnership targeted delivering over 20 gigawatts of compute to top AI labs by 2028, and this expansion moves toward that target. A multi-year capacity commitment of that size shows Broadcom's AI customers are planning for sustained growth and not a short-term spending burst.
Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) is still on the hook if its customers cannot pay, even with the debt structured off-balance-sheet. CNBC's Kristina Partsinevelos explained that "Broadcom's job is to guarantee part of that debt, and that guarantee is where the risk sits." It means a slowdown at Anthropic or another financed customer could still hit Broadcom directly despite the SPV structure.

The Baltimore Ravens have spent years building one of the NFL's most recognizable football brands. They've been at this for three decades, and they are truly a class organization.
These days, they're home to one of the league's best quarterbacks, and there's no shortage of talent and swagger around him. Sometimes, the on-field product is breathtaking. Sometimes it's frustrating. Often, it's a mixture of both.
No matter how fans feel about the occasional fourth-quarter collapse or missed opportunity, some things can never be questioned. Baltimore is usually worth watching. Their fans are some of the most passionate, and they won't miss any opportunity to fill M&T Bank Stadium or settle around a television on game days.
That belief recently surfaced when ESPN's Ben Solak released his annual NFL watchability rankings. He placed the Ravens 11th overall entering the 2026 season. His rankings weren't based strictly on projected wins and losses. Instead, he evaluated teams based on big-play ability, star power, competitiveness, and their capacity to keep viewers glued to a second screen on Sundays. For Baltimore, the biggest selling point was obvious.
"If the Chargers are atop my list for offense that could be first in everything this season, then the Ravens are a close second. Lamar Jackson, a two-time MVP and still the league's preeminent dual-threat quarterback, has never had an offensive coordinator like Declan Doyle in his NFL career."

Georgia Power has secured regulatory approval for a contract to supply OpenAI's planned project in Effingham County, Georgia, adding 3,200 megawatts of potential new electricity demand to one of the fastest-growing large-load markets in the United States.
The agreement, approved through the Georgia Public Service Commission's regulatory process, requires OpenAI to cover the full cost of infrastructure needed specifically to serve the project, according to Georgia Power.
OpenAI has also committed to make as much as 1,000 MW of its demand flexible. That would allow Georgia Power to curtail power deliveries to the facility during periods of high system demand, potentially reducing the amount of new generation capacity the utility needs to build solely to accommodate load growth.
The scale of the contract illustrates how artificial intelligence and data center development are reshaping US electricity demand. A 3.2-GW load is comparable to the output of several large conventional power plants and represents a substantial addition to Georgia Power's system.
Georgia Power said revenues from OpenAI and other large-load customers already announced, together with projected additional growth, are expected to generate approximately $950 million in annual savings for customers beginning in 2029.

Diesel prices are still above $5, and Aaron Decker says the real problem is refining capacity — not crude oil.In this FreightWaves Today interview, Decker breaks down crack spreads, refinery outages, low distillate inventories and how the Russia-Ukraine conflict is still hitting diesel markets. For carriers, brokers and shippers, this is the fuel outlook that matters heading into Q3 and Q4.#DieselPrices #FuelSurcharge #FreightWaves
On-road diesel prices hit the high $5.60s this week, and the culprit is not crude oil — which has been hovering in the $80s — but a refining capacity crunch that has sent crack spreads above $100 per barrel, well beyond their typical $15–$25 range, said Aaron Decker, partner and chief executive officer of Multi-Service Fuel Card.
"It's not necessarily a crude issue or a crude crisis," Decker said. "We're not in a crude crisis, we're in a refining crisis." Ultra-low distillate inventories have fallen to levels not seen since the early 2000s, and even the late 1990s, he added — a signal he called "really troubling."
Several forces are compounding the supply squeeze. Ukrainian drone strikes have taken out Russian refineries that were previously helping backfill global shortfalls. U.S. Gulf Coast diesel exports are running elevated as domestic refiners supply shortage-stricken markets overseas, which simultaneously tightens American supply and consumes domestic refining capacity. Decker said a weekly government report tracking Hormuz tanker traffic, Russian refinery runs, and U.S. distillate inventories are the three indicators he watches most closely.
"I don't anticipate this getting better in the very near future. I anticipate, and I think the EIA agrees with that, they adjusted their forecast from where they were at the beginning of the year to how things stand now. And I would imagine we're north of $5 for the foreseeable future." — Aaron Decker, CEO, Multi-Service Fuel Card

On August 13, 2026, CNBC reported that SK hynix Inc. (NASDAQ:SKHY) is spending $720 billion on what it calls the largest network of memory factories in the world. This buildout is so large that South Korea's president is urging both SK Hynix and rival Samsung to add capacity even faster under a national plan to double the country's memory production within five years.
SK Hynix expects huge AI memory demand to stay strong permanently rather than follow the usual cycles of high sales and sudden crashes. That raises the real question: does this scale of investment lock in SK Hynix's lead for years or set up a painful oversupply problem if AI memory demand ever slows?
SK hynix Inc. (NASDAQ:SKHY) controlled 58% of the high-bandwidth memory market in the first quarter, well ahead of Samsung and Micron at 21% each. Its market cap has jumped more than fivefold in the past year to top $1 trillion. The firm raised $26.5 billion in July by listing on the Nasdaq, the most ever raised by a foreign company on US markets. It has signed 10 long-term supply agreements with major customers, including a $500 billion co-development deal with Nvidia. SK Group chairman Chey Tae-won said demand is like "a war," with everybody wanting to buy memory chips.
However, SK hynix Inc. (NASDAQ:SKHY)'s Nasdaq-listed shares have already fallen about 21% from their July 14 high, closing recently at $154.41 amid broader AI-trade volatility. The buildout is so large it shrinks DRAM supply for ordinary consumer electronics, and Chey himself admitted "prices went up too fast," acknowledging the boom carries real excess.
Samsung is being pushed by the same government-backed national plan and could see a similar surge in shareholder returns. KB Securities ******* ysts expect more than a tenfold increase. A report that Singapore's Temasek plans to invest directly in Samsung sent its shares up 6.7% in a single day.

Abercrombie & Fitch (NYSE: ANF) released the results for its fiscal 2026 second quarter (ended Aug. 1), and shareholders rejoiced. The company generated record second-quarter net sales that rose 5% to $1.3 billion, marking its 15 consecutive quarter of growth. The gains were broad-based, with net sales in the Americas up 5%, sales in Asia Pacific (APAC) up 19%, and sales in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) up 2%. It also marked the best-ever second quarter across brands, with Abercrombie brands up 8% and Hollister up 2%.
Strong sales growth also boosted profits as adjusted earnings per diluted share (EPS) rose 79% to $4.17. It's worth noting that the results got a $100 million benefit -- or EPS of $1.75 -- from tariff refunds. The Supreme Court recently ruled that tariffs imposed by the Trump administration using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) were illegal, prompting the refunds. However, even excluding the impact of the tariff refund, Abercrombie surpassed expectations.

On August 11, 2026, Sony Group Corporation (NYSE:SONY) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (NYSE:TSM) agreed to form a $4.7 billion joint venture to develop and manufacture next-generation image sensors for smartphones. Mass production is expected to begin in 2029.
Why This Matters
Sony is trying to limit its own capital spending on next-generation chip manufacturing while still capturing AI-era demand for camera "eyes" in machines.
So does partnering with TSMC give Sony the best of both worlds, or does it mean sharing a strategic manufacturing edge with a partner that also serves every other chip customer in the world?
Sony Group Corporation (NYSE:SONY) will be the venture's sole controlling shareholder and will lead development of core image-sensor technology and product design, contributing about $2.92 billion partly by transferring its newly built **** amoto chip factory. The structure is designed specifically to limit Sony's own capital spending while positioning it to capture rising demand for the "eyes" of machines as AI adoption grows. The companies are also counting on **** anese government support to help fund the venture's full planned capacity.

The rapid buildout of AI infrastructure has been driving a strong demand cycle for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMAT) benefits from such a trend, thanks to chipmakers increasing spending on advanced DRAM, HBM, leading-edge logic, as well as advanced packaging.
This trend is evidenced by the company's latest results, which highlight real financial growth. Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMAT) reported record revenue of $9.12 billion, with non-GAAP EPS of $3.50 and $3.17 on a GAAP basis. Importantly, gross margin was above 50%, demonstrating its 13th consecutive quarter of YoY gross-margin expansion.
The company is not just benefiting from elevated semiconductor spending. It is gaining share too. Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMAT) upgraded its Semiconductor Systems revenue expectations for CY 2026, anticipating growth faster than the broader semiconductor equipment market. Notably, the momentum seems to be robust in DRAM, leading-edge foundry/logic, and advanced packaging. Collectively, they continue to become critical as AI chips are more complex.
Furthermore, the numbers support operating leverage. For Q4, the company expects revenue of ~$10.25 billion, demonstrating YoY growth of 51%. The non-GAAP EPS is anticipated to reach $4.02, implying growth of 85% YoY. Semiconductor Systems revenue is projected to increase by 62% to ~$7.9 billion.
UBS ******* yst Timothy Arcuri kept a "Buy" rating on Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMAT)'s stock and a price objective of $675, highlighting the company's aggressive capacity expansion and continued share gains. The long-term thesis needs to be understood, with Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMAT) aiming to double its systems output capacity by CY 2028, and ******* yst's model expecting systems revenue approaching ~$14 billion per quarter and earnings reaching $30 per share.

On August 14, 2026, Core Scientific, Inc. (NASDAQ:CORZ) completed its acquisition of Polaris DS for roughly $444 million in cash. It is adding about 440 megawatts of grid-connected power capacity in Oklahoma as part of its push to expand its Muskogee campus to 1.5 gigawatts of gross power.
Core Scientific keeps buying power capacity to feed AI data center demand. It is building on a business it already reshaped from bitcoin mining.
That raises the real question: is this string of acquisitions building a genuinely differentiated AI infrastructure company or piling up debt-funded power capacity ahead of confirmed demand?
Photo from Nextpower website
CEO Adam Sullivan said the deal is "another example of how we are strategically expanding our power portfolio," noting the company has added more than 600 megawatts of leasable power through site acquisitions this year alone. Core Scientific, Inc. (NASDAQ:CORZ) is already contracted to deliver the next roughly 82 megawatts at Muskogee to a customer starting in the second half of 2027. The company also signed a deal with AMD in July. It gave AMD access to more than 500 megawatts of AI-ready data center capacity starting in 2027, expandable to 2.5 gigawatts. AMD received market-priced warrants to purchase Core Scientific stock as part of the arrangement.
