Only five games into his NBA career, former UNC superstar Caleb Wilson is embracing every bit of the Chicago lifestyle.
The Bulls took Wilson fourth overall in the 2026 NBA Draft, needing instant starpower in a big way. Wilson quickly showcased his pro readiness in NBA Summer League action, scoring a debut-record 35 points, then continued to thrive in the preseason.
On a recent episode of pro basketball player Jared Brownidge's "Link with JB podcast," Wilson told Chicago sports fans four things they should know about him.
"Number one, Green Bay sucks," Wilson said. "Number two, we're going to get some good wins and eventually, you guys will think the Chicago Bulls are fire again, if you don't think so already. Number three, I don't like ketchup on my hot dogs anymore. And number four, it's a great day to be in Chicago. That's pretty much it."
That first sentence is a core of Windy City sports fandom. While Green Bay (Wisc.) doesn't have an NBA team, the Packers and Chicago Bears form the NFL's most historic rivalry.

The Austin Spurs announced Thursday the hiring of the 12th head coach in franchise history.
Chris Kent will guide the Spurs' G League team in 2026-27 after serving as ******* istant coach and director of player development at Florida State during the 2025-26 season. Kent helped the Seminoles to an 18-15 finish that included a 10-8 showing in ACC play.
Kent also has experience in the G League, most recently spending two seasons from 2023-25 as an ******* istant coach with the Portland Trail Blazers' Rip City Remix, according to an Austin Spurs press release.
Kent began his coaching career as an intern with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, the former G League affiliate of the Indiana Pacers, from 2013-15 before joining Florida State as a graduate ******* istant. He also served as director of player development at South Florida during the 2017-18 season before joining the Chicago Bulls in 2018 as an intern.
The Bulls promoted Kent to video coordinator in 2019. He spent three seasons in that role before serving as an ******* istant coach with the G League's Windy City Bulls during the 2022-23 season.

In the longer format, patience and discipline are traditional routes to building an innings. The beauty lies in embracing that challenge when the situation demands it.

South Zone found themselves in a similar situation on Monday. At 80/5, they were staring at the prospect of conceding first-innings lead to North Zone, who had posted 195 in their Duleep Trophy semifinal at the BCCI Centre of Excellence here.

What followed over the next 271 minutes was an exhibition of restraint and disciplined batsmanship as Tilak Varma (106 batting, 225b, 7x4) and Shreyas Gopal (87, 169b, 11x4) took centre stage with a 175-run sixth-wicket partnership. Their stand eventually turned the tide, helping South secure a first-innings lead. They were 285/9 at stumps, 90 runs ahead on the second day.

South, who resumed on 40/2, were rocked by the brilliance of pacer Gurnoor Brar (4/70), who arrived in the city from the Sri Lanka tour on Friday. Making the most of windy conditions, Brar produced a peach in his fifth delivery of the day to disturb Narayan Jagadeesan's stumps. He struck again soon after, producing a similar delivery to castle R Smaran's off stump before dismissing Kodimela Himateja for a duck.

With their backs against the wall, Tilak and Shreyas joined hands and tested the North bowlers' patience.

The Karnataka all-rounder brought up his first four off the 42nd ball he faced. Tilak did not find the boundary again until his 154th delivery, with that four taking South into the lead. Having curbed his instincts and reached his fifty without a boundary, the Hyderabad batter gradually shifted gears.

Shreyas, meanwhile, completed his fifty in 107 ******* and looked in control as he appeared on course for his seventh first-class hundred. But pacer Arshdeep Singh ended his vigil when he edged one through to stand-in wicketkeeper Abdul Samad.

With South's tail beginning to crumble, Tilak was in danger of missing out on a deserved century. The Hyderabad batter, though, held his nerve, smashing two successive fours off Gurnoor to bring up his eighth first-class hundred in 219 ******* .

Interestingly, all seven of Tilak's fours came after he reached his fifty — a reflection of the restraint that underpinned his innings. With South nine down, he will be eager to carry that momentum into the third day and stretch their lead into three figures and beyond.
Brief scores: North Zone 195 vs South Zone 285/9 in 94 overs (o/n: 40/2) (Narayan Jagadeesan 36, Tilak Varma 106 batting, Shreyas Gopal 87; Arshdeep Singh 2-59, Anshul Kamboj 2-53, Gurnoor Brar 4-70).

Jessica Pegula rallied from a break down in the final set to topple defending champion Iga Swiatek 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 on Saturday and reach the final of the ATP-WTA Cincinnati Masters.
World number three Pegula needed nearly three hours to dethrone Swiatek as the duo rode a rollercoaster of breaks and re-breaks before the 31-year-old American took a 5-4 lead in the final set after Swiatek saved three break points but double-faulted on a fourth.
Pegula quickly closed it out, firing a service winner on match point to reach Sunday's championship match in the US Open tune-up.
"Crazy match today," Pegula said. "A lot of back and forth, a lot of breaks," Pegula said, "Really windy, kind of odd conditions. I felt like we were playing well and then not playing well.
"It was really tough to kind of get a gauge on the match.

Washington Huskies ****** istant coach Quincy Pondexter is reportedly set to become the head coach of the Chicago Bulls' NBA G-League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls.
Pondexter, a standout on the court for the Huskies from 2006-10 who returned for his second coaching stint at his alma mater prior to the 2025-26 season, is expected to be hired as the Windy City Bulls' next coach, according to a report on Sunday.
The 6-foot-7 former forward from Fresno, California, played for the Bulls during the 2017-18 season under coach Fred Hoiberg, who has since returned to the college ranks as Nebraska's head coach. Pondexter has never been a head coach since entering the profession at UW in 2021 under former coach Mike Hopkins.
As of Monday afternoon, neither UW nor the Windy City Bulls confirmed the report of Pondexter being hired to replace former coach Billy Donovan III, the son of two-time NCAA champion Billy Donovan.
Founded in 2016, the NBA G-League franchise has only two winning seasons—the first in 2018-19 and the last in 2022-23—and one playoff appearance while employing five different coaches during that stretch. With Pondexter set to be the sixth coach to lead the team, it's a gamble on both sides, but one each feels now is the right time to take.

Michigan made two key additions on special teams this offseason via the transfer portal — kicker Trey Butkowski (Pitt) and Cam Brown (UNLV).
Butkowski was 20-of-23 last season, going 6-of-9 from 40-49 yards out. Brown, a native of Australia, punted 22 times last season as a freshman, with a 42.9-yard average and long of 71 yards.
Speaking with the media on Thursday, Michigan special teams coordinator Kerry Coombs spoke about Butkowski and Brown.
"This is a guy who's done it, and we're going to go out there and roll with him," Coombs said of Butkowski.
Coombs was impressed by Butkowski's accuracy despite playing in a windy home stadium environment at Pitt.

The Detroit Pistons' G League affiliate, the Motor City Cruise, will hold open tryouts with a $250 fee to find potentially hidden talents.
Anyone with the dream of making it to the NBA has some clear pathways to follow. Usually, it involves being a top-ranked high school player who plays in the NCAA or being a prodigious international prospect.
However, the G League is also a crucial tool. While it is mostly populated with young NBA players and some veterans hoping to get their shot, it might be the perfect way to find any hidden local talents.
The Pistons' Motor City Cruise will join the Nuggets' Grand Rapids Gold ($200), Chicago's Windy City Bulls ($250), Mavericks' Texas Legends ($300), and Toronto's Raptors 905 ($225).
The Motor City Cruise will hold its tryout on September 13 from 12 to 5 PM at the Henry Ford Detroit Pistons Performance Center.

As we gear up for the 2026 football season, Aggies Wire is breaking down nearly every player on the Texas A&M roster. Throughout the preseason, each profile will highlight a player's background, high school recruiting rankings, and projected role under head coach Mike Elko.
Texas A&M entered the offseason with a clear priority in the trenches. By the end of last year, the defensive line depth gap became impossible to ignore, and it showed up at the worst possible time. In a windy playoff matchup against Miami where running the ball was essential to controlling the game, the Aggies held firm early. But once Albert Regis went down with an injury, the interior collapsed, and Miami seized momentum on the ground.
Shoring up the interior defensive line became a top offseason objective, and Illinois transfer Angelo McCullom has quickly emerged as one of the most important additions. Teammates and coaches have praised his strength, physicality, and ability to anchor against downhill run schemes. Starting linebacker and team captain Daymion Sanford singled him out as a player to watch.
McCullom's raw power is undeniable. He's posted a 470‑pound bench press and he already thrives as a rotational piece. He enters the 2026 season with a 70.3 run‑defense grade, giving the Aggies a sturdy interior presence they lacked late last year. With continued development, McCullom could help transform the IDL into one of the program's most reliable units this fall.

A little rain may have changed some plans, but it couldn't stop the 2026 Taunton Junior City Open.
A wet, windy morning on Monday, Aug. 3 saw the opening round of the Silver City's annual youth golf tournament shortened, with Divisions 2 (ages 14-15) and Division 3 (ages 16-18) playing nine holes instead of the usual 18 while Division 1 (ages 11-13) was able to just get in six holes before the skies broke open. However, a much brighter and drier final round followed on Tuesday, Aug. 4 saw all 18 holes and then some played at the John F. Parker Municipal Golf Course, and with it, three new champions crowned.
In Division 3, Taunton High rising junior Colby Emond reigned supreme, improving on his third place Division 2 showing in 2025 to take the oldest division ****** le shooting a combined 111 (+6) over 27 holes. Luke Durfee finished runner up, shooting a 113 (+8) while Emond's Tiger teammate Logan Gallinger shot 115 (+10) to finish third.
"(It was) just two good days of golf," Emond said. "Wasn't the greatest conditions, but I got it done and that's all that matters."
In Division 2, Bristol-Plymouth rising sophomore Cal Soderberg and Taunton High rising sophomore Liam Ballantine found themselves tied at 114 (+9) after 27 holes, sending the duo to a sudden-death overtime. After both shot a 5 on the first two holes, Soderberg surpassed Ballantine with a par putt for 4 on the third hole to secure the ****** le. His fellow Craftsman rising sophomore, Camden Scimonelli, came in third after shooting a 118 (+13).

Pierce had a lot to say about the state of the team, the new-look defense, his unit, what he's going up against in the offense, and more.
WolverinesWire was on hand and captured nearly seven minutes of his 30-minute appearance on video.

CHICAGO - Did these last two days on the South Side alter anything in the Yankees' trade deadline strategy?
In dropping a pair of extra-inning games to the White Sox, ending with Thursday afternoon's 2-1, 11-inning loss, it was all about the Yanks' inability to gain any offensive traction.
That's been a team theme since mid-June, and there are four shopping days left to improve this lineup – now missing the injured Cody Bellinger (hamstring), in addition to Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton – before Monday's 6 p.m. MLB trade deadline.
The Yankee front office's response will shadow over everything this weekend at Wrigley Field, as the Yanks continue their Windy City week with three games vs. the Cubs.
And these last two games couldn't have gone worse against the White Sox, with the Yanks' failure to fully support their starters, and a relief corps on fumes.

BRUSSELS, July 31 (Reuters) - Human-caused climate change made the extreme weather fuelling wildfires in southwestern France twice as likely, and made the conditions ‌driving blazes in central Spain 20 times more likely, scientists said on Friday.
Ongoing ‌wildfires in Spain and France have forced hundreds of thousands of people to evacuate and scorched huge swathes of land.

Could 76ers sign Collin ******* ton to fill in for departing Grimes? originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Not even 24 hours into the NBA free agency window, and the Philadelphia 76ers are off and running, having already broken the ice with their signing of former Cleveland Cavalier forward Dean Wade. The Sixers and Wade agreed on a four-year deal that is set to be worth $39 million, which means that Philadelphia will still have a sizable amount of money to fiddle with in the weeks to come.
They'll have to put that money to good use in the shape of finding a replacement for Quentin Grimes, who, according to a recent report, won't be returning to the City of Brotherly Love next season. It will leave a sizable hole in Nick Nurse's plans, as Grimes managed to be a key contributor off the bench at times for Philadelphia, appearing in 75 games, in which he averaged 13.4 points per game on 45 percent shooting from the field.
The Sixers' front office search for backcourt replacements could lead them to players like Collin ******* ton, among others, but would he fit?
Sexton enters free agency off of a split season, having spent the first half with the Charlotte Hornets and the second with the Chicago Bulls, with whom the eight-year veteran would become a microwave scorer during his brief stint in the Windy City, averaging 17.5 points per night on 48.2 percent shooting, and 41 percent from beyond the arc.

CHASKA, Minn. — Haeran Ryu recovered from a rough start to secure her first career major ******* le, winning the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship by two strokes over Ina Yoon on a windy Sunday at Hazeltine National Golf Club.
Ryu shot a 2-under 70 to finish at 13-under 275 and become the sixth South Korean to win the event over the last 12 editions, flashing a big smile as she holed her last putt and friends ran out to douse her in celebration.
The 2023 LPGA Tour Rookie of the Year was also the first major champion in at least the last 60 years to rally from a 10-plus-shot deficit after the first round. Ryu opened Thursday with a 73 in a tie for 70th place, as Yoon shot a tournament-record 63.
Brooke Henderson and Dewi Weber tied for third at 10 under. Three Americans — Allisen Corpuz, Auston Kim and Alison Lee — tied for fifth place, six strokes behind Ryu.
Nelly Korda wrapped up a frustrating weekend on the greens with a 73 to finish in a four-way tie for eighth, failing to become the third women to win the first three majors of the season.

Ina Yoon started the third round of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship with a five-shot lead after tearing up Hazeltine National Golf Club in back-to-back rounds. But the 23-year-old, who had never held the lead in a major before this week, struggled mightily on Saturday, and now there are several big names who could win the trophy, including World No. 1 Nelly Korda.
Haeran Ryu took over the lead with her fine putting and shot a four-under 68 to take a one-shot lead over Brooke Henderson (69). Ryu, 25, has been close to winning a major before, with three top-six finishes, and she’s got another shot Sunday. She’s hoping to play in a zen-like state.
“Today on my front nine, it was amazing because I got an eagle and three birdies,” the South Korean said. “I started the back nine, and it was more windy and there were a lot of tough shots and tough putts, but I just made one bogey today. Good for me for tomorrow, and tomorrow I just want to have more confidence and more calm.”
The round was anything but calm for South Korea’s Yoon, who is just two shots back of Ryu, She’s not out of it, but it probably felt like it after a rough start Saturday. Yoon bogeyed four of the first six holes and rallied to keep things from completely falling apart with a three-over 75. She admitted that the nerves got to her.
“I had a really long day actually, especially on the front nine,” Yoon said. “I was nervous a lot. I missed short putts. That's what I expected. I'm learning still. I think it was way better than the second round of the U.S. Open [when she shot 79]. I keep improving. I think that's the point today.”

It seemed like it was going to be a quiet day on the Marquette To NBA front as there was no chance of Ben Gold or Chase Ross getting selected in Wednesday night’s second round of the NBA Draft. However, Indiana Pacers general manager Chad Buchanan and Chicago Bulls general manager Stephen Mervis had different ideas. After Chicago selected Purdue guard Braden Smith with the 8th pick of the second round and the 38th pick overall, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania broke some news on a trade:
Former Marquette guard Kam Jones is headed to the Windy City.
Indiana is trading Jones to the Bulls along with some yet to be revealed future pick swaps and cash in exchange for the draft rights to Smith.
Jones was the #38 pick one year ago, technically being selected by San Antonio before a trade that was finalized after the fact sent him to the Pacers, much like this trade will eventually be finalized because the NBA rules about the league schedule are weird and bad. Marquette’s #2 all time leading scorer appeared in 37 games for Indiana this past season as the Pacers went 19-63 with Tyrese Haliburton out for the year after suffering an Achilles tear in the 2025 NBA Finals. Jones started seven times along the way and ended up averaging 4.4 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 3.2 ******* ists in 16.6 minutes per game. One thing that did not help Jones’ playing time was his 29.3% three-point shooting, and that was dragged down by shooting just 25% in Indiana’s final seven games of the season.
After being taken in the second round last year, Jones signed a three year contract with the Pacers that has a fourth season on a team option. In theory, that means that the Bulls are up for the idea of continuing Jones’ development for at least another two seasons. I would wager it means we will see him in Chicago black & red when Summer League pops up in July. Where things go from there as Tiago Splitter takes over as head coach and the Bulls move on from the front office pairing of Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley, we will have to wait and see…..

Dailyn Swain is heading to the Windy City. The former Texas Longhorns guard/forward has been drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the No. 15 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The Xavier transfer lead Texas in points, rebounds, ***** ists and steals during the season.
Described as a "point forward" thanks to his playmaking and passing ability, Swain followed Texas coach Sean Miller from the Musketeers to the Longhorns last offseason. The move paid off. Swain helped Texas reach the Elite Eight, while elevating his national profile. He's now a Top 15 pick in the NBA Draft.
Many scouts believe Swain will be successful at the next level if he is able to develop a consistent three-point shot, something that improved on the Forty Acres. While playing in the SEC, Swain shot a career-best 34.4 percent from beyond the arc.
The Columbus, Ohio native averaged 18.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.7 ***** ists per game during his lone season with Texas. He previously spent two years at Xavier.
The 6-foot-7, 225-pound wing played in 99 career games, starting in 72. Swain finished his collegiate career with 1,128 points, 545 rebounds, 254 ***** ists and 142 steals. He reached double digits in rebounds 11 times while recording 11 career double-doubles.

Wyndham Clark says a new mindset and a major victory in 2023 give him a confidence boost as he enters Sunday's final round of the US Open with a six-stroke lead.
Clark eagled the par-five 16th but closed with a three-putt bogey to fire a level-par 70 in Saturday's third round to stand on seven-under 203 at windy Shinnecock.
"Tomorrow is going to be a new challenge. There's going to be some ups and downs. I'm really hoping I kind of bring my A-game finally, just sharper," Clark said.
"I made some dumb mistakes with wedges, which I normally don't do, and a couple of bad three-putts. If I can have my game, then I really love the opportunity."
Clark, the 2023 US Open winner, will be in the final group with top-ranked American compatriot Scottie Scheffler, a four-time major winner who can complete a career Grand Slam with a victory.

The greatest rivalry in the NFL — and perhaps in all of sports — is between the Chicago Bears and my beloved Green Bay Packers.
That's why the possibility of the Bears leaving Chicago feels wrong. Not because I suddenly feel sorry for Bears fans. Trust me, I don't. Yet some teams belong where they started. The Packers belong in Green Bay. The Bears belong in Illinois, not Indiana.
For more than a century, the Bears have represented the Windy City. They have played football in Chicago since 1921 and at Soldier Field for more than five decades. Now that relationship could be coming to an end.
The Bears' board of directors voted June 4 to advance a stadium development project in Hammond. While the exact location has not been determined, the move signals that the franchise is seriously considering leaving the city it has called home for generations.
As a sports fan, I don't want to see the Bears leave Chicago. Just like I wouldn't want to see the Packers leave Green Bay.

After a less-than-stellar trip to Houston, the Tigers home and had an off day to sit there and think about what they've done, mister. But, since the sport rolls on, the American Central-leading Chicago White Sox came to town (and yes, that looks weird to me too) for the opener of a three-game weekend series on a windy Friday night which promised to make fly ***** an adventure. After the lead changed hands a couple of times, a well-timed, well-placed, 2-run blooper was the difference in a 4-3 Tigers win.
Tarik Skubal made his second start since coming off the Injured List; his first one wasn't great, but there must have been some rust that he had to shake off. When healthy this year he's usually been the same ol' Cy Skubal, with an ERA of 2.81 (154 ERA+), a WHIP of 0.979, and seven walks given-out in 48 innings coming into tonight's game.
Brandon Eisert was an opener for Erick Fedde; Eisert's in his second full season in the major leagues, after spending a bit of time with the Blue Jays in 2024. He's opened a few times this year, so this wasn't anything new for him. Fedde was drafted by the Nationals and spent several ho-hum years there; he then went to South Korea in 2023 and had an ERA of 2.00 with a 20-6 record. He came back to North America after that season and hasn't been able to duplicate the success he had in Korea; maybe he can't find any good ***** chae here.
Randal Grichuk, who is only in the major leagues because he hits lefties, hit a lefty: a solo home run in the top of the first put Chicago up 1-0.
Matt Vierling got that run back and added one with a two-run home run after a Dillon Dingler single, putting the Tigers up 2-1 in the bottom of the first.

Three bogeys in a row and a double bogey on the back nine doomed Rory McIlroy's hopes of pushing the leaders Friday at the US Open, but he fancies his chances just the same.
World number two McIlroy fired a one-over par 71 to finish 36 holes on level par 140, seven behind leader Wyndham Clark entering the weekend at windy Shinnecock Hills.
"If there's a course where you feel like you still have a chance if you're seven back going into the weekend like I am, it's definitely this one," McIlroy said.
Blustery breezes, dense rough and tricky green speeds make the links-style layout difficult at the best of times and worse when winds gust.
"When you're chasing, it's sort of counterintuitive, but if I can limit my mistakes, I know everyone else in the field is going to make bogeys, so if I can pick off a few birdies here and there, hole a couple more 20-, 25-footers than other guys, that's really the strategy," McIlroy said.

Wyndham Clark finished his darkness-halted first round of the 126th US Open with two pars on Friday morning, completing a six-under par 64 to hold a two-stroke lead at windy Shinnecock.
The 32-year-old American, who won the 2023 US Open at Los Angeles Country Club, was among 50 players who did not conclude their first rounds Thursday due to a two-hour morning fog delay, but Friday skies were clear at the restart.
Clark set the lowest first-round score in a US Open at Shinnecock, breaking the old mark off 66 by Angel Cabrera, Shigeki Maruyama and Jay Haas in 2004 and Nick Price in 1995.
Clark owned a four-stroke overnight lead through 16 holes but compatriot Dustin Johnson, a two-time major winner, birdied the par-three seventh and par-four ninth to trim his playing partner's edge in half.
Johnson sank a three-foot birdie putt at the seventh and a 10-footer for birdie at the ninth to complete a 66 and grab second.

As is tradition for the U.S. Open, the opening round at Shinnecock saw the weather play a vital role in the story of the day. It started with a two-hour fog delay, which was eventually lifted thanks to wind that permeated the rest of Round 1.
The leaderboard is in prime position for chaos in Round 2, with Wyndham Clark sitting at the top at 6-under, Rory McIlroy in the T-9th spot after going 1-under and Scottie Scheffler well down the leaderboard after finishing 2-over in Round 1.
There's not much rain in the forecast, but the weather in Southampton is still forecasted to be both cloudy and windy until it starts to clear up in the late afternoon.
