Could 76ers sign Collin ******* ton to fill in for departing Grimes? originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Not even 24 hours into the NBA free agency window, and the Philadelphia 76ers are off and running, having already broken the ice with their signing of former Cleveland Cavalier forward Dean Wade. The Sixers and Wade agreed on a four-year deal that is set to be worth $39 million, which means that Philadelphia will still have a sizable amount of money to fiddle with in the weeks to come.
They'll have to put that money to good use in the shape of finding a replacement for Quentin Grimes, who, according to a recent report, won't be returning to the City of Brotherly Love next season. It will leave a sizable hole in Nick Nurse's plans, as Grimes managed to be a key contributor off the bench at times for Philadelphia, appearing in 75 games, in which he averaged 13.4 points per game on 45 percent shooting from the field.
The Sixers' front office search for backcourt replacements could lead them to players like Collin ******* ton, among others, but would he fit?
Sexton enters free agency off of a split season, having spent the first half with the Charlotte Hornets and the second with the Chicago Bulls, with whom the eight-year veteran would become a microwave scorer during his brief stint in the Windy City, averaging 17.5 points per night on 48.2 percent shooting, and 41 percent from beyond the arc.
