The Ballon d'Or may be heading to Germany, with Harry Kane back as the favourite to lift the trophy on betting sites.
After scoring 73 goals in 65 appearances for club and country, including six goals for England at the World Cup, Kane has been reinstalled as the favourite to clinch world football's top individual honour.
The race previously shifted in favour of Barcelona's Lamine Yamal, with the teenager going odds-on with the bookies after he played his part in Spain becoming the world champions for only the second time.
But ahead of the glittering ceremony on October 26, the England skipper could be about to add even more honours to his already impressive CV.
Were Kane to win the Ballon d'Or, he'd be only the fifth Englishman to clinch the prize and the first since Michael Owen in 2001. He was installed as the early frontrunner by football betting sites after a storming 2025/26 campaign.

The Minnesota Vikings beat the Green Bay Packers to start the 2026 season with a win, but 29 of their points came in the final 17 minutes of the game. Plenty of questions surround the Vikings, and they don't solely revolve around the quarterback position.
Brian Flores' defense overwhelmed the Packers in the fourth quarter, but there were far too many wide-open Green Bay receivers throughout the day. Minnesota's offense did enough to win, but it will need more consistency moving forward so it isn't clawing its way back late in games.
The next opponent further amplifies these concerns. Next week, the Vikings travel to Soldier Field to face the Chicago Bears, who beat the Carolina Panthers 59-37 on Sunday. Minnesota will need to tighten things up so that they aren't involved in a shootout they can't keep up in.
Kyler Murray's long-awaited Vikings debut was cut short when he left the game with a concussion suffered in the first quarter. Carson Wentz replaced him, completing 12/19 passes for 133 yards and three touchdowns, doing enough to keep the offense on schedule.
But Murray's availability is already in question for next week. On Monday, Adam Schefter reported that "it looks like" Wentz will start next Sunday against the Bears, as Murray remains in concussion protocol.

Good morning everyone and welcome to Fitzie's gaming corner, where your hoddler-in-chief talks about video and **** ogue games.
There's an exciting new PC game coming out soon: Guild Wars 3.
It's official. #GW3 is a thing – we are developing Guild Wars 3! https://t.co/yKMu6euKg2 pic.twitter.com/7nkR6TBt8v
Guild Wars is what is called an MMORPG – or "massively multiplayer online role-playing game" – that's like a cooler version of World of Warcraft. It's got these cool characters and no subscription model, which means it's far more accessible.
Your hoddler-in-chief used to play Guild Wars all the time. First the OG when it came out in 2007 and then when Guild Wars 2 was released in 2012. I spent a tonne of hours playing it until it reached a point where my computer's RAM could no longer support it.

Dan Fountain remembers the official telling him about Rikhil Katpally.
"He's going to be a special player," Fountain remembers being told.
Katpally was still in middle school, playing modified soccer for Shaker, when Fountain, the school's varsity boys' soccer coach and Katpally's club coach with Saints FC, watched him play.
The referee wasn't talking about Katpally's speed or strength. He was talking about how he saw the game.
After the final whistle, the referee approached Fountain and pointed toward the young midfielder.
