As bad as Texas' start was, as bad as things looked at halftime and the third quarter, as unlucky and plodding as the Longhorns looked, all that turned around in the fourth quarter. After surviving what was probably the worst first quarter of the Steve Sarkisian era, No. 4 Texas produced perhaps the biggest win ever at Royal-Memorial Stadium.

CEO Scott Thomson signaled that 14% won't be the high-water mark for the bank's returns going forward. With every division growing at once, the quarter reads like a strategy finally clicking into place.
Canadian Banking earned $1.1 billion, up 12% year over year, with return on equity jumping 160 basis points sequentially to 19.4%. That came from a fifth straight quarter of margin expansion, plus commercial loan growth that accelerated to 3% sequentially after 2% the quarter before, with small business lending up 10% year over year. Credit card premium mix rose to 45% of new acquisitions, up from 35% a year ago.
Global Banking and Markets posted its best quarterly net income ever, $647 million, up 37% year over year, helped by a net interest margin that expanded more than 30 basis points and a run of marquee deals, including the two largest debt capital markets issuances ever done in Canada and the country's biggest IPO since 2021. Loans in that segment grew 7% sequentially as the bank reinvests after a period of deliberate optimization.
Global Wealth Management earnings rose 23% to $515 million as the segment posted net sales of $3 billion for the quarter, a Q3 record, while **** ets under management reached $474 billion. Referrals between Canadian Banking and Wealth Management hit $14 billion year to date, with commercial-to-wealth referrals up 33%. International Banking added $725 million, up 6% on a constant dollar basis, with retail loans growing 5% as management leans into primary banking relationships. The bank also logged its tenth straight quarter of positive operating leverage.
The quarter wasn't friction-free. Expenses grew 14% year over year, driven largely by performance-based pay and a 16% increase in technology spending to $1.5 billion. Chief Risk Officer Shannon McGinnis flagged, "We continue to monitor some pockets of weakness, including elevated mortgage delinquencies," even with the retail book carrying an average FICO score of 798. International Banking's provision for credit losses ran at 138 basis points, well above the 42 basis points booked in Canadian Banking, and the segment absorbed an incremental $57 million provision tied to a corporate account in Brazil that management said it continues to work through.

That's because James Dolan has made it clear the franchise can compete, but only with certain salary cap stipulations. So, who's the person predicted to leave the Knicks? Miles McBride.
James Dolan has made things clear to Leon Rose: the Knicks can compete as long as their salaries do not hit the second apron. As a consequence, Jalen Brunson lost a screener and fair rebounder in Mitchell Robinson during the offseason. With this pattern looming, Miles McBride is the next candidate to leave.
The Knicks and McBride had an extension deadline in mid-August if they wanted him to settle for a cheaper deal. As expected, the young guard has not signed and will play out the last year of his deal with the Knicks. San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York skipped Wednesday's NFL owners' meeting in Atlanta following his arrest in an Ohio prostitution sting. CEO Al Guido represented the franchise as the league reviews whether York violated its personal conduct policy.
York was arrested Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio, after police said he responded to an undercover prostitution advertisement. Prosecutors later reduced the prostitution charge to disorderly conduct, and York pleaded no contest to that charge and possessing criminal tools.

When she's swimming, no matter how many people are watching her, she dives into the pool, and the world condenses to just her and the water.

Jeremy Shockey spent his NFL career determined not to let fatherhood interfere with football. More than two decades later, the former New York Giants tight end has had a major change of heart.
Shockey, 45, revealed on the Sunday, August 2 episode of the Club Shay Shay podcast that he underwent a vasectomy at just 21 years old, shortly after entering the NFL.
He has since had the procedure reversed and told host and fellow ex-NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe, 58, that he wants to have children of his own.
That desire is a far cry from where Shockey's head was at when the Giants drafted him 14th overall in 2002. He opted to get the procedure early in his NFL career, explaining that fatherhood simply didn't fit the life he was building. Golfer Michael Brennan is just a couple years into his professional golf career, and he's already had some major moments to be proud of on the PGA Tour.
Sunday was certainly one of them.
Brennan was able to hold off Beau Hossler and win the Wyndham Championship in Sunday's final round at Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina. It was his second PGA Tour win. But as Brennan was taking in the win, his mother, Shannon, was quick to remind him what that victory also meant:
He's going to the Masters.
The 24-year-old's reaction upon hearing that news was too good. You could just see as the realization set in.

The NFL officially enshrined its 2026 class in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday. It was a loaded class that is headlined by former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who are both going in as first-ballot selections.
Any time the Hall of Fame is discussed, fans of the Denver Broncos within Broncos Country have a rich history of players to discuss for possible enshrinement. Having already seen the likes of John Elway, Terrell Davis, Shannon Sharpe and Steve Atwater receive busts in Canton, Broncos fans are hungry for more.

Dennis Smith is rarely talked about in terms of inclusion into the Hall of Fame, but he should be. Sadly, having ended his career over 30 years ago, he's becoming largely forgotten.
Smith had over 1,100 career tackles to go along with 30 interceptions and was one of the best safeties of his era. A first-round pick of the Broncos in 1981, Smith made the Pro Bowl six times and was selected as a first-team All-Pro in 1984 and again in 1986. He spent his entire 14-year career in the Mile High City and was known as one of the hardest hitters in the game.

Mama June Shannon is standing behind her daughter Lauryn "Pumpkin" Efird as the reality star moves deeper into adult entertainment, but she still has concerns about the long-term consequences. Pumpkin has expanded her career by creating explicit OF content and dancing at strip clubs following her 2024 divorce from Josh Efird. Although June acknowledged that her daughter is old enough to make her own choices, the "Mama June: Family Crisis" star warned that the money may eventually come with a personal cost.

Speaking to TMZ, June said she supports Pumpkin's decision but cautioned that "all money ain't good money." Her primary concern is the permanence of the content and the possibility that Pumpkin's four children could discover it when they are older.
While the children may not currently understand what OF is, June noted that the material could remain online and become accessible to them in the future. Despite those reservations, June insisted the career change has not caused a rift between her and her daughter. Pumpkin is an adult, and June believes the final decision belongs to her.
The reality star also does not necessarily believe Pumpkin will regret creating the content. According to June, her daughter has always been outgoing and is currently enjoying herself while pursuing what she wants.
