The New York Giants began their 2026 training camp on Wednesday at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
So, what better way to kick off camp than to play John Denver's 1971 classic "Take Me Home, Country Roads," a song that extols the great state's down-home beauty.
"Thrilled to be here," head coach John Harbaugh told the media after the team's first workout of camp. "The opening song of our meeting today was, of course, (Country Roads). You better believe it. It was great. And a lot of the guys knew the words. I knew the words. So, it was fun to kind of just get here and be a part of it.
"I'm just really appreciative of the people here. How good they've been. I mean, every single person says, 'We appreciate you being here. What can we do for you?' Make you feel welcome."
Denver's iconic song is being played at sporting events across the nation, just like Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" has been for the past decade or so. That is why so many know the words. It's a catchy sing-along number that is filled with Americana that carries a unifying message.

The brother of late "Love Island U.K." host Caroline Flack has died.
Paul Flack died at the age of 55 on Sunday, June 21, in Norfolk, England, according to records obtained by USA TODAY. This comes six years after Caroline Flack's death by suicide in February 2020 at 40 years old.
Norfolk Police said Paul Flack was found unresponsive at his home before he was taken to the hospital and **** ounced dead, reported several outlets, including The Independent, BBC and local newspaper Eastern Daily Press.
An inquest has been opened at the Norfolk Coroner's Court, which is intended to "look into the circumstances in which the death occurred, as well as how the person died," per the official website. The case was opened on June 29 and a hearing has been set for Oct. 23.

Killer Vibes is the first in what will be a series that centers on Peter Key, a bisexual stoner who inherits a home from an uncle he barely knew, only to find out that his death was probably not an accident. "He starts to poke into the case and attracts some very dangerous people, but he also makes a lot of really cool new friends, including a private investigator," Fram tells me. "By the end of the novel, Peter has gone through a lot of scrapes but he has come out a detective. He's realized that he finally has something that he's really good at and loves to do."
Ahead of Killer Vibes' release, I caught up with Fram to talk about his decision to write under a pen name, telling queer, Southern stories, and what fans of Fram–and Friday–can look forward to in this book and beyond.
Caroline Reilly: What made you decide to write your next book under a pen name?
John Fram: I think that for me it was a matter of making sure people had the right expectations going into the book. I didn't want to alienate my horror readers with something that's not a horror novel. There's nothing supernatural in Killer Vibes. So on the one hand, it was making sure people who have read my previous work knew what they were getting into. Secondly–I remember once reading a review of my book and there was a comment on it where this lady said, "I've always been interested in this author, but I'm too scared to read horror." A French television presenter is apologizing after criticizing Belgian star Jeremy Doku's decision to leave the World Cup to be with his newborn child.
Jeremy Doku, a Belgian forward, told reporters that he would leave the World Cup in order to attend the birth of his first child. France Pierron of France's L'Equipe responded to Doku during a June 19 broadcast.
"It's truly a special moment, a childhood dream come true," Pierron said, according to People. "You're living out a childhood dream, yet you're going to walk away from it all to attend the birth of your child — a disgusting moment, if you'll pardon the expression, where the dad is completely useless."
The comment was met with immediate pushback, with many believing it minimized the role of fathers in raising children. Retired French boxer Brahim Asloum, who also works for L'Equipe, noted, "A baby is your entire life. A World Cup is over when it is over."
The response was not confined to Europe. Caroline Salame, a content creator who has also played for Canada in the Under-17 World Cup, said, "The hardest thing I have ever done in this lifetime — and the thing that I am most proud of — is bringing my baby earthside. And I do not know how I would have done that without my husband beside me. Birth can be extremely complicated; anything can happen."

An interim deal between the United States and Iran to end the Middle ‌East war took effect, and oil tankers sailed through the Strait of Hormuz, pointing to a resumption of long restricted energy flows.
U.S. ‌Vice President JD Vance, however, warned Israel against further attacks on Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon, raising doubts about the durability of the U.S.-Iran ceasefire agreement.
Brent crude futures gained 30 cents, or 0.38%, to settle at $79.85 a barrel after sliding as low as $76.54 earlier in the session. U.S. West Texas Intermediate fell 19 cents or 0.25% to finish at $76.60 a barrel.

The draft is finally here.
The 2026 PWHL Draft is set to take place on Wednesday, June 17, at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. The draft begins at 5 p.m. ET and will be televised locally on WJBK-TV (Ch. 20 in Detroit) and nationally on Scripps Sports, with streaming available on the PWHL YouTube channel.
The Vancouver Goldeneyes are scheduled to pick first overall in this year's draft, followed by the Seattle Torrent. Detroit's still-unnamed expansion franchise will make its first-ever draft pick, but it likely won't come in the first round, as Detroit traded its first-round pick to the Las Vegas expansion franchise for forward Hilary Knight.
The top prospect in this year's draft is Wisconsin defender Caroline Harvey, who along with Knight won gold for Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Plymouth native Kirsten Simms, also a defender at Wisconsin and Team USA member, is expected to be taken high in the draft, as well.

After a whirlwind 2025-26 season, the duo were in New York as keynote speakers at the espnW summit. For over 30 minutes, they discussed winning Olympic gold medals with Team USA — where Edwards and Harvey were among the top scorers in the tournament — and their third national championship victory with the Wisconsin Badgers.
But after the panel was complete, their conversation turned to the future — and the fact that the two best friends will be separated for the first time in nearly a decade.
"That's a lot of our conversations lately," Harvey said in an interview with The Athletic last month.
At the 2026 PWHL Draft on Wednesday night, Harvey, who won Olympic MVP and the 2026 Patty Kazmaier Award as the top player in college hockey, is expected to go first overall to the Vancouver Goldeneyes. In a perfect world, Edwards, a 6-foot-1 dual threat who can play forward or defense, also lands in the Pacific Northwest, as the Seattle Torrent have the No. 2 pick. Their Team USA teammate Abbey Murphy, who was second in The Athletic's prospect ranking in March, could also reasonably go second overall.
