Wigan Athletic have signed former Republic of Ireland striker Scott Hogan on a short-term deal until January.
Hogan, 34, left MK Dons at the end of last season after joining them on a free transfer from Birmingham City in October 2024.
Wigan will hope he can add to their firepower after making a slow start to their League One campaign, but Hogan's only goal for MK Dons last season came almost a year ago.
The much-travelled Hogan made his name at Brentford in the Championship, prompting Aston Villa to sign him for a reported £9m, rising to £12m, in January 2017, while he has also had spells at Rochdale, Stoke and Sheffield United.

ESPN College GameDay hasn't been the same since saying goodbye to the legendary Lee Corso one year ago. The 91-year-old Corso bid farewell to the iconic college football pregame show, but recently reconnected with his good friend Kirk Herbstreit.
This week, Herbstreit revealed that he met up with Corso before the start of the season, and shared some details from their emotional reunion.
In an article with US Weekly, discussed a meeting at the Orlando airport, where he and Corso got some quality time together.
"By the time I landed, there he is," Herbstreit said. "We hugged, embraced. He was emotional because we haven't seen each other in a while. When he cried, it made me cry. Because he's my guy. We were able to hang out for probably 20 or 30 minutes and just kind of get caught up."

United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby doesn't have time for endless meetings.
Instead, he sleeps eight and a half hours a day and reads roughly 2 books a week.
Does his advice change how you would structure your day?
Don't think that United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby is going to sit through your slide deck.
"If you want to send a deck, send it to me in advance, and then we're just going to talk about it, but you're not going to read slides to me," Kirby told Semafor's "CEO Signal" podcast.

WOODBURY - Juniors PJ Galullo and TJ Rubsamen are two veteran players for a very young Nonnewaug co-op football team that's navigating its first season in the Naugatuck Valley League.
That duo combined to help the Chiefs claim a hard-fought 12-6 win over Oxford on Friday night at Nonnewaug High School. It was the inaugural NVL game and season opener for Nonnewaug.
"It was a good move for us to put our program in there," Chiefs coach Scott Lynch said.
An aesthetically pleasing game it most certainly was not, but a win's a win from Nonnewaug's point of view.
"It was ugly, but we got the job done tonight," Rubsamen said.

Former Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden picked Cincinnati to beat Tampa Bay in Week 1, prompting brother Jon Gruden to accuse him of bias.
During a segment posted by Jon Gruden on X, the brothers went back and forth over Sunday's matchup.
Jon highlighted several of Tampa Bay's young defenders, including Josiah Trotter, Keionte Scott and Rueben Bain Jr., before Jay identified a weakness he believes Cincinnati can exploit.
"You got no corners. I'm taking the Bengals," Jay said.
It's Week 1 and we already have a little bias from my brother... give me Tampa to beat the Bengals!!

Friday marked the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City. And the two Major League Baseball teams who played a role in the city's emotional recovery met at Yankee Stadium to commemorate the occasion, allowing fans to remember and pay tribute to all those affected by what happened 25 years ago.
Both the New York Yankees and New York Mets wore first responder caps paying tribute to the FDNY and NYPD.
Earlier in the day, Yankees manager Aaron Boone was joined by Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole to lay a wreath beside a plaque in Yankee Stadium's Monument Park paying tribute to the victims and heroes of 9/11.

Members of the 2001 team that advanced to the World Series took the field, beginning with manager Joe Torre. He was followed by key team leaders Jorge Posada and Paul O'Neill. Tino Martinez and Scott Brosius, who hit home runs in that World Series then joined their teammates. Finally, Hall of Famers Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera came out to the pitching mound with the other five.

Breakout loading. At least that's what the Dallas Cowboys hope after they inked tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford and receiver Ryan Flournoy to a pair of extensions this week. In a break from the norm, the Cowboys went out on a limb and played the speculation market. Channeling his inner oilman, owner Jerry Jones has put his money where his mouth is and bet big on breakouts.
In previous years, it was the Cowboys waiting until after a breakout was achieved before extensions were offered. Terence Steele was signed to a five-year, $82,500,000 deal after his breakout season in 2022. Jaylon Smith was regrettably signed to a five-year, $63,750,000 extension after his breakout season in 2018. And even Dak Prescott, Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland got signed after already establishing themselves high among the NFL hierarchy.
It doesn't take Wallstreet stockbroker to know investing after something has already blown up has its drawbacks. Sure, seeing success insulates from risk, but it also means investors are buying high. Good deals are made through speculation. They come with risk since they're predictive rather than proven, but they also come at a much lower price and with a much higher upside.
After displaying significant growth in 2025, Flournoy has been a media and fan favorite to breakout in a big way this season. Signing a one-year, $6M extension, Flournoy retains his Cowboydom through the 2027 season. This is important because if George Pickens leaves after the current season, Flournoy ensures a level of continuity amongst the top receiver ranks.
Sources: The #cowboys and WR Ryan Flournoy have agreed to a 1-year contract extension worth up to $6M.
Flournoy is coming off a career year with 40 catches for 475 and 4 TDs. He’s expected to have an even bigger role in the offense this season as the solidified WR3 and now gets… pic.twitter.com/p04Q0S80A9

Pete Davidson has spoken about losing his father on September 11 for much of his adult life, sometimes seriously and sometimes through comedy. Becoming a father himself has changed the way he understands what happened.
Davidson was seven when his father, New York City firefighter Scott Matthew Davidson, died while responding to the World Trade Center attacks. "I thought, 'Oh, he was an old guy. He's 33,'" Davidson told the New York Post. "But now I'm there, and I have a kid, and that would be like my kid not having her dad."
Davidson is 32 and turns 33 in November, putting him close to the age his father was when he died. His daughter, Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson, was born in December 2025 and was named after the grandfather she will never meet.
That combination made the 25th anniversary especially difficult. Davidson said this year felt "way harder" than it had in a long time, but also "extra beautiful" because he would spend September 11 with Scottie. "It'll be very healing and special," he said.
Scott Davidson was 33 when he died and had been an FDNY firefighter since 1994. He worked with Ladder Company 118 in Brooklyn Heights and responded after the second hijacked plane struck the World Trade Center. The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation remembers him as a father who coached Pete in football and baseball, watched daughter Casey's dance recitals and frequently called firefighting "the greatest job in America."

Pete Davidson is spending the 25th anniversary of his father Scott Davidson's death on 9/11 as a father himself for the first time.
The Saturday Night Live alum, 32, spoke about his dad's death to the New York Post in an interview published on Tuesday, September 8. According to the outlet, he's still figuring out how to one day talk about the New York City firefighter's death with his daughter, Scottie, who he and ex-girlfriend Elsie Hewitt welcomed into the world in December.
"Luckily, I have some time," the comedian told the publication. "Honestly, this year is way harder than it's been in a really long time because I have Scottie, and now I'm the age that my dad was when he died. So I'm just kind of like, 'Holy [expletive].'"
Instagram/caseydavidson
However, Pete is looking forward to sharing more about his father with his child, noting, "I have old videos and pictures and stuff, and I'm excited to share the classic stories I have of him with her."

Steve Reinke helped his son Scott build a modest one-bedroom home in Isanti County, Minnesota, in 2015. The goal was affordability: The total cost of land and materials came to just over $130,000. Eleven years later, the county has ***** sed the property at just over $484,000 for 2027.
Reinke says the property tax bill has become nearly as large as the mortgage payment, and the county hasn't explained why the valuation jumped so dramatically.

Sept 10 (Reuters) - Energy and bond markets are on edge once again after U.S. President Donald Trump said the Iran war would not end until after November's midterm elections. That came amid the most intense attacks on Gulf shipping in the conflict so far.
Meanwhile, markets await a likely European Central Bank interest rate rise and the first of the week's U.S. inflation updates on Thursday, as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's bond buyback salvo appeared to flop after details of the operation disappointed.
Crude oil closed at its highest level since late May above $100 per barrel on Wednesday, and 10-year Treasury yields hit their highest in three years, fast homing in on the 5% milestone.
That came after a wave of ***** -for-tat attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf, the biggest since the Iran war started six months ago. Meantime, a planned $6 billion buyback of longer-dated bonds on Thursday disappointed some investors who had wanted more.

Pete Davidson is opening up about being a parent amid the 25th anniversary of his father's death.
The comedian, whose father, New York City firefighter Scott Davidson, died responding to the Sept. 11 attacks, reflected on how becoming a dad himself has changed his perspective.
"I thought, 'Oh, he was an old guy. He's 33,'" Davidson told The New York Post in an interview published on Sept. 8. "But now I'm there, and I have a kid, and that would be like my kid not having her dad."
The "Saturday Night Live" alum, who was 7 when he lost his dad and turns 33 in November, named his 8-month-old daughter, Scottie, after him. Davidson added that while "this year is extra tough," it's also "extra beautiful because I get to spend the day with Scottie. It'll be very healing and special."
The actor shares his daughter with ex-girlfriend Elsie Hewitt. The pair, who broke up shortly after the birth, were in agreement on their daughter's name, Davidson said.

Pete Davidson is remembering his late father, Scott Davidson, as the United States marks 25 years since the September 11 attacks.
The comedian was only a child when Scott, a New York City firefighter, died while responding to an attack. More than two decades later, he continues to honor his dad while acknowledging how difficult the anniversary is for him.
This year, however, Pete Davidson is channeling that grief into something positive by encouraging Americans to perform acts of kindness in remembrance of those who lost their lives.

Pete Davidson marked the 25th anniversary of 9/11 by honoring the father he lost that day. The comedian joined 9/11 Day's UNIITE For Good campaign, turning grief into a call for kindness.
Davidson's father, Scott Davidson, died while responding to the attacks in New York City. This year, Pete encouraged Americans to remember the tragedy by reviving the spirit of unity that followed.
Davidson shared his story in a video for 9/11 Day. "He was a firefighter for Ladder 118, Engine 205 in Brooklyn Heights," he said. "My dad loved being a fireman, and he loved saving people," Davidson added. Scott died while responding to the attacks alongside fellow firefighters.
The Saturday Night Live alum explained why UNIITE For Good felt fitting this year. "9/11 is usually a tough day," Davidson said, according to the campaign. He explained that participants could perform a good deed and pass the idea along. The campaign then added those pledges to a nationwide map.
The goal was to cover the country with visible examples of people helping others. Davidson hoped the initiative could make an emotionally difficult anniversary feel slightly lighter. The campaign also focused on what happened after September 11. Communities came together and helped strangers despite their differences.

It's been a long wait for this day to get here, but now we can finally turn the page to (I hope) more constructive play and move on from the UVA debacle. So what are we keeping our eyes on in the bigger picture tonight?
1.) Find at least the beginnings of an identity offensively. NC State's performance at Virginia was so bad as to look incoherent, and the offense wasn't on the field enough to develop a rhythm, much less discover its most important foundational aspects. Pretty much nothing worked, and what did—or could have—worked, often wasn't well-executed. The Pack has to take the opportunity presented by Richmond to start sorting itself out and establish concepts that work. Where's the bread and ***** er?
2.) To that end, who are the playmakers in this offense? We know that NC State would like to lean on Duke Scott and certainly he has better days ahead of him, but I'd like to see a more concerted effort to get Victor Snow the ball tonight. We learned next to nothing about the passing game in Week 0—well, nothing good, anyway—and still don't really know what we've got at receiver. It might end up essential for Snow to get 8-10 touches each week, and now's a good time to figure that out. I won't be surprised if Keenan Jackson is a focal point, either.
3.) What does this defense look like when it isn't in a bad position for 60 minutes? They were set up to fail by the offense in the first game, and Virginia never had to get out of its conservative comfort zone. Still the defense did some good things against actual handoffs, and needs to build on that. Richmond shouldn't have much of a downfield passing game to speak of, and I want to see how the defense performs against more regular passing downs.

Still the defense did some good things against actual handoffs, and needs to build on that. Richmond shouldn't have much of a downfield passing game to speak of, and I want to see how the defense performs against more regular passing downs.

Blake Roskopf threw five touchdown passes and Goodyear Desert Edge's defense stifled Scottsdale Notre Dame's offense in a 46-7 5A football rout on Thursday night, Sept. 10, at Desert Edge.
Roskopf quickly carved up Notre Dame's defense, finding open receivers all over the field. He threw two touchdown passes to Jhaheem Brown and two to Zerek Sidney, including a 61-yarder that gave the top-ranked Scorpions (3-0) a 40-7 lead with five minutes left in the third quarter.
Roskopf, a Washington commit, has quietly thrown 12 touchdown passes in Desert Edge's first three games.
But the story of its season so far has been the defense, led by electric junior edge rusher Jalanie George, who had another monster game.
When Notre Dame's Austin Bush ran 3 yards for a score with 7:21 left in the second quarter, it was the first time this season that Desert Edge allowed a touchdown. The score came after Desert Edge twice lined up offsides on two Notre Dame field-goal tries. With short yardage, the Saints picked up first downs both times, leading to the score and a 7-6 lead.

DALLAS - Some Republicans are saying they are worried about the cost and inflationary impacts of President Donald Trump's pledge to give American adults a $5,000 dividend if the GOP maintains control of Congress after the midterm election.
While a few Republicans expressed enthusiasm - Sen Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) said on X he will "get a bill ready" to get the dividend "passed immediately" after the election - a number of them expressed skepticism about Trump's promise.

Several lawmakers, including Rep. Monica De La Cruz (R-Texas), who is facing a competitive reelection bid, said Trump's speech was the first "we all heard about" the dividend proposal.
"We're going to see what, actually, [and] how this plays out," said Scott Singer (R-Florida), who also first heard about the dividends during Trump's speech and is running in a swing district. "We'll actually see the specifics, but I believe tax cuts are going to provide the benefits that we need."

US stocks fell for a third day in a row on Wednesday as oil prices continued to rise and Treasury yields jumped after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent revealed new bond buyback plans.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) lost nearly 0.8%, and the Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) fell 0.6%, extending losses after a downbeat session on Tuesday. The S&P 500 (^GSPC) fell by roughly 0.5%.
The 10-year yield (^TNX) rose 3 basis points to 4.83%, its highest level since October 2023, as the market reacted negatively to Bessent's announcement that the Treasury Department intends to triple its next bond buyback program in an effort to curb rising borrowing costs.
Oil prices reached triple digits for the first time in over a month after fighting between the US and Iran escalated and the US struck five Iranian oil tankers. Brent crude oil futures (BZ=F), the global benchmark, traded at $101 per barrel, while US benchmark WTI crude (CL=F) climbed to $96 per barrel.
Concerns that energy supply disruptions stemming from the war in the Strait of Hormuz will persist fed into bets that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates next week. Traders now see a 60% chance of a 25 basis point hike this month, according to CME Group, up slightly from the odds a day ago.

The Treasury Department on Wednesday revealed that it will buy back up as much as $6 billion in longer-dated U.S. debt in an operation this week.
The agency's Bureau of the Fiscal Service announced that it will purchase up to $6 billion in 10-year notes and 20-year bonds in an operation. The securities that will be bought in the operation, which is scheduled to occur from 1:40 p.m. to 2 p.m. ET on Thursday, have maturity dates ranging from February 2037 and August 2046.
The buybacks follow Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's announcement that Treasury's buyback operations would be at least $4 billion until early November, an increase from the $2 billion that the agency would typically buy back in an operation.
Yields on Treasurys have been elevated in recent years due to stubborn inflation, which has been exacerbated by the Iran war and has caused interest rates to rise further.
Bessent Says Treasury Auctions Will Continue As Usual Despite Expanded Buyback Program

In recent months, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has not been afraid to intervene in the bond or foreign exchange markets.
In early August, the Treasury executed a coordinated purchase of **** anese yen with **** an's Ministry of Finance to strengthen the yen, which had been losing ground to the U.S. dollar.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
The Treasury also plans to repurchase as much as $6 billion of longer-dated Treasuries at its next operation on Sept. 10, triple the normal amount, in an attempt to curb Treasury yields. While the moves have received their fair share of criticism, Bessent seems to have no plans to back down.
"... I am the house now," said Bessent, during a speech in front of Southern Methodist University's business school on Sept. 8. "So when we intervene with the **** anese yen, I have pretty good insight what the **** anese, what the Bank of **** an is going to do, what **** anese policymakers are going to do. Bet against me if you want."

American government borrowing costs have risen to a three-year high after a $6bn (£4.4bn) bond market intervention disappointed investors.
The US treasury said on Wednesday it would buy back $6bn in government debt as Scott Bessent, the treasury secretary, tries to suppress high bond yields.
However, the intervention underwhelmed investors and yields rose after the announcement. The interest rate on benchmark 10-year Treasuries rose to 4.85pc, the highest level since late 2023. The cost to borrow over 20 and 30 years also rose sharply.
The jump is a setback for Mr Bessent and Donald Trump, who have both sought to combat a sharp recent rise in US borrowing costs that has put pressure on the White House's economic plans.
It will also likely raise concerns that the global bond sell-off seen last week could reignite.

The Dallas Cowboys are dealing with a significant offensive line issue just days before their 2026 season opener. Tyler Smith, Dallas Cowboys' three-time Pro Bowl left guard and a cornerstone of their offensive line since being selected 24th overall in the 2022 draft, is headed to injured reserve.
Even though T.J. Bass is a more probable replacement, it has also opened the door for veteran offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson to protect quarterback Dak Prescott and fill the gap.

Tyler Smith had been dealing with a thumb issue since the offseason. He reported the problem to head coach Brian Schottenheimer but initially tried to play through it. On Monday, Schottenheimer informed the media that Smith would undergo surgery on the thumb and is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks. The team could not pinpoint exactly when the injury occurred. With the season opener against the New York Giants scheduled for September 13 at MetLife Stadium, the Cowboys moved quickly to address the depth issue.

The Kardashian family has become deeply intertwined with sports. One of the younger sisters, Kendall Jenner, was featured in a viral Super Bowl ad this year, and another, and Kim Kardashian, arguably the face of the family, has been romantically linked to athletes such as NBA player Kris Humphries, as well as NFL stars Reggie Bush and Odell Beckham Jr, and is currently dating F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton.
Now, Kardashian is deepening her inroads in the sports community, as she'll be an executive producer for Team Moms: Baseball, a reality TV series focusing on the parents of the Legendary Preps Academy baseball team in Scottsdale, Arizona.
"These families are passionate, competitive, and completely all in when it comes to their kids—and sometimes what happens in the stands is just as intense as what happens on the field," Kardashian and executive producer Natalie Ento said of the show, per Deadline. "That's what makes Team Moms: Baseball so much fun to watch."
On Wednesday, the first trailer for the show was released.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, the trailer and Kardashian's involvement in the show didn't debut to rave reviews.

It was an extra special weekend for Ree Drummond and her daughter Paige Drummond.
The Food Network star left her famed Oklahoma ranch and jet off to Dallas, where she and her newly-engaged daughter shopped for wedding dresses.
In addition to Paige, who got engaged to fiancé David Andersen last month after a year of dating, The Pioneer Woman founder and her husband Ladd Drummond are also parents to daughter Alex, 26, who is expecting her first child with husband Mauricio Scott, sons Bryce, 20, and Todd, 19, plus they welcomed Jamar, 20, into the family in 2018 after the couple became his foster parents.
Ree took to her blog over the weekend to write all about her day wedding dress shopping with Paige, with the help of her older sister Alex plus her fiancé David's mom and sister.
"It was every bit as fun as you'd think it would be," she wrote, endearingly sharing: "We 'ooohed, ahhhed,' sipped champagne, and did all the things we gals do in these kinds of settings."
