BIRMINGHAM, England — Joe Dean, a former grocery delivery driver ranked No. 292, captured his first DP World Tour ***** le by shooting 9-under 63 to win the British Masters with his wife on the bag on Sunday.
The 32-year-old Englishman started the final round seven strokes off the lead at The Belfry but made nine birdies — including four on his last six holes — to finish the week on 14-under par and move into the lead with the late starters still having holes to play.
No one could catch him, with four players — Nacho Elvira (69), third-round leader Daniel Hillier (73), Niklas Norgaard (71) and Jakob Skov Olesen (71) — tying for second place, three shots back.
This was the first tournament in Team Europe's qualifying process for next year's Ryder Cup, so that's suddenly an unlikely target for Dean — quite the turn of events for someone who spent time delivering groceries during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and kept doing it for nearly four years to help fund his career when he didn't have a card.
"I enjoyed it for most of the time," Dean said of his old part-time job. "Obviously it's a completely different life, a completely different lifestyle. I still see the vans going up and down the road every now and then, and I keep in touch."

Whether that can spur it to a run over the final stretch of the season to qualify for the MLS playoffs will be fascinating to watch, but Saturday's performance at Portland continues the recent trend that the Verde and Black are on the upswing.
In a game the club probably wouldn't have won before the World Cup break, Austin FC overcame an 89th-minute equalizer by the Timbers and produced a 2-1 win at Providence Park on Oleksandr Svatok's stoppage-time goal.

Conservative podcaster Tucker Carlson said Friday that President Trump should be removed from office if he is considering using nuclear weapons first, saying even entertaining the possibility should disqualify a president from serving.
"The second any president actively considers the first use of nuclear weapons, that person should be removed from office immediately, because that's got to be the red line, destroying all of humanity with a nuclear strike," Carlson said.
Carlson made the comments during a conversation with Joe Kent, the former director of the National Counterterrorism Center who resigned earlier this year in opposition to the war with Iran.
Carlson, who noted that he strongly opposed both efforts to impeach Trump during his first term, questioned why the same standard would not apply if a president were weighing a nuclear first strike.
"Why isn't there an attempt to remove him from office, like, immediately?" Carlson said. "Anyone who would even tolerate that kind of talk from any of his subordinates or employees is by definition unfit."

Rachaad White doesn't fit the typical skill set that would qualify him for a "high floor" sort of list, but if you take a step back, his role is crystal clear and only carries upside.
At this point, we've learned to not bank on White as a between the tackles runner. He's not efficient and that ship seems to have sailed. The Commanders brought him in to leverage his pass catching prowess (89.1% career catch rate, 7.1 yards per catch) in an offense that has creative dreams and a limited RB1.
Jacory Corksey-Merritt's advanced profile is basically the bizzaro version of White: he was second best in 5+ yard carry rate but continued to be a non-factor in the pass game.

Liverpool have been linked with many different players this summer.

India appeared well placed to complete a 2-0 series sweep after taking control of the second Test. Sri Lanka began the final day with six wickets down, leaving India needing only four more wickets to seal victory.
Instead, the visitors could manage just two wickets as Sonal Dinusha produced a stunning unbeaten century to frustrate India. The Sri Lankan batter remained unbeaten on 133 and stitched together vital partnerships with the lower order, helping the hosts survive and force a draw after following on.

Everything was on the line at the draw in Monaco. The four home and four away opponents for the 2026–27 season have now been determined. UEFA will announce the exact dates of the matches by Saturday. Rangers, who held a 1-0 lead going into the second leg of the play-off in Czech Republic, lost 4-3 on penalties on Thursday to crash out of Europe completely.

In between his two media interactions, the Indian captain saw his team register a comprehensive win in Galle and then settle for a draw in a fixture they were well positioned to win in Colombo. Although the series was won, the trophy secured, and his undefeated run as captain checked off crucial boxes, India left behind crucial WTC points needed to boost their win percentage.
As captain, he had his most challenging few days under the sun in Colombo when Sonal Dinusha and the Sri Lanka's tail frustrated the visitors and prevented them from getting the result they desperately wanted. There were moments he would helplessly stand and observe from the short-cover position, have an intense chat with head coach Gautam Gambhir when nothing worked and then even egg his teammates on when their shoulders started dropping.
"It gets very frustrating," he said regarding the challenges, explaining the questions that follow. "Was follow-on the best decision, was it not? But then you have to go back in the moment and see, what can I do? Did I make the best decision in that moment? Yes, I did. Then you can't do anything about it. You have to keep trying your best, and I think we did that," added the Indian captain.
While they struggled to remove the Sri Lankan tail in both innings, Gill was not ready to pin the blame on any of his teammates and lauded their effort.
"We tried all that we could, and at the end of the day, even from the players, you can expect them giving their 100%, their top efforts, and I don't think there was any lacking in intensity or the efforts that we put in," said Gill.
Highlighting the volume of overs the spinners bowled on a surface which became easier to bat as the game progressed, Gill gave them 10/10 for effort and intent, and continued to focus on the ultimate goal - the World Test Championship.
"The spinners bowled 50-60 overs on the trot for three days. Fielding for three days is not an easy task in these conditions with the heat. In terms of effort, I would say 10 out of 10 for the effort and the intent. A lot of learning, so many things won't always go as you plan, but as long as we still have a chance to qualify for the World Test Championship," added Gill.
India operated with in-out field positions for most of the match, offering significant protection against the sweep, especially when Sonal Dinusha was at the crease. While it did open up easy singles, Gill felt there couldn't have been a better plan as the slow turn off the surface meant bowled and LBW were the dismissals out of the equation.

NEW DELHI: India captain Shubman Gill on Thursday ruled out any injury concern for Mohammed Siraj after the pacer appeared to be below his best during the drawn second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
Siraj bowled at a reduced pace and often used a shorter run-up during the Test. His fitness also came under the scanner after he landed heavily while trying to take a catch in Sri Lanka's first innings.
Gill, however, made it clear that Siraj was not carrying an injury.
Gill said Siraj had not been feeling his best even during the first Test in Galle and was also returning to international cricket after a break.
"Firstly, Siraj is not injured. He didn't feel well even in the first match (at Galle). He last played against Afghanistan in June…so he was playing almost after a couple of months. It takes time for someone to come back to the rhythm.
"Even in the first Test, we felt that his pace was slow. But sometimes when you play more, you come back to the rhythm. But as far as the injury is concerned, there is nothing," he said.
Siraj's lack of his usual pace was noticeable as India struggled to finish off Sri Lanka on the fifth day. The hosts batted through the final day, with Sonal Dinusha scoring an unbeaten 133 to secure a draw.
India had reduced Sri Lanka to 229/6 by the end of the fourth day but could not force the remaining wickets on the final day.
"It gets very frustrating. We attacked a lot in the beginning. But I think as the match went on, the wicket got slower. It was not like the ball was not moving and when the ball was spinning, the wickets were not in play. It was not like the wicket was very flat," said Gill at the post-match press meet.
The India captain said Sri Lanka's defensive approach made it difficult for his bowlers to create chances.
"Unless you are playing a shot and looking to make a run, then it is difficult to take a wicket. We tried all that we could, and I don't think there was any lack of intensity or the efforts that we put in. The spinners bowled 50-60 overs on the trot for three days.

The NFL is the top league in the top sport in America, and its greatest stars often achieve a level of fame that transcends the sport. These players become "household names", recognized by the general public regardless of their team affiliation. While many NFL franchises currently boast multiple players who have reached this status, the Miami Dolphins do not seem to have any roster members who qualify as "household names" at this time. Britons Jacob Fearnley, Toby Samuel, Harry Wendelken and Harriet Dart stand one win away from a place in the US Open main draw after coming through their second round qualifying matches in New York.
Fearnley showed great resilience in battling to a three-set victory over Frenchman Luka Pavlovic, which set up a meeting with Austria's Jurij Rodionov.
The 25-year-old world number 100 recovered from a break of serve down to take the opening set, and held his nerve in the decider after his opponent levelled the match to clinch a 6-4 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 win.
Samuel, bidding to qualify for the US Open for the first time, produced a comeback victory against fellow Briton Billy Harris.
The 23-year-old, who made his slam debut at this year's French Open, recovered to win 4-6 6-4 6-1 and set up a meeting with Chile's former top-20 player Cristian Garin.

Amcor is supplying Tiptree, the preserves and spreads business owned by Wilkin & Sons, with packaging films containing certified 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic for use in shrink film and pallet stretch wrap.
The change covers Amcor's collation shrink film and Bontite Sustane stretch wrap, each made with 30% PCR content.
Tiptree is making the switch before revisions to the UK Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT) take effect in April 2027.
Under those rules, post-industrial recycled (PIR) material will no longer qualify towards the 30% minimum recycled plastic requirement, with only PCR content set to count.
According to Amcor, the films are intended to preserve packaging, supporting efficiency, load stability and wider cost considerations.
