Bayer Leverkusen have entered negotiations with Olympique de Marseille over the potential signing of Facundo Medina, with the Argentina international emerging as one of the club's primary defensive targets this summer.
According to reports, discussions between the two clubs are already underway. Medina, who recently featured for Argentina in the World Cup final, is viewed as an experienced and versatile addition capable of operating both as a centre-back and on the left side of defence.
The 27-year-old only joined Marseille recently but has quickly attracted interest following his impressive performances at both club and international level. His versatility and composure in possession reportedly make him an ideal fit for Leverkusen's style of play.
Leverkusen's recruitment drive is not limited to central defence, however. The club also continue to monitor KRC Genk full-back Zakaria El Ouahdi as they explore options to strengthen the right side of their defence, too.
The Moroccan international has been on Leverkusen's radar for some time and remains an alternative should the club decide to add another full-back before the transfer window closes. While no agreement has yet been reached, El Ouahdi is still considered a realistic option.

A tribute to Lyon's culture.
This Tuesday morning, Olympique Lyonnais unveiled their new third kit for the 2026-27 season.
The shirt draws inspiration from funk, a musical style for which Lyon is the official capital in France.
Circular patterns referencing vinyl records define the style on the back of the garment, but the masterstroke comes in the crest and the branding: pure psychedelia.

New Hamburg attacking addition Patson Daka bid the Bundesliga a spirited ****** o on Friday. Following his arrival at HSV's Austrian training camp, new striker Patson Daka has spoken about his decision to join the Bundesliga club and his determination to escape the difficult period that stalled his career at Leicester City.
The 27-year-old joined HSV on a free transfer after Leicester's relegation to the English third tier. Daka, for whom the former Premier League club paid approximately €30m five years ago, initially signed a one-year contract containing an extension option. The Zambian international is expected to make his unofficial debut in Saturday's friendly against 1. FC Heidenheim.
Daka's fellow new Hamburg signing – Moroccan U23 international Bilal Nadir – also saw his arrival on a free transfer confirmed Friday. Like Daka, Nadir is also hoping to put a recent rough patch behind him. Last October, whilst playing for Olympique Marseille, Nadir made unpleasant headlines when he collapsed on the field during a Ligue 1 match against Angers.
In their second season back in the Bundesliga, Hamburg are rapidly becoming the club of "second chances"; an apt categorization in the year that Mario Vuskovic is once again eligible to play following his long suspension. Daka optimistically led the group of new arrivals at his introductory press event.
The striker began researching HSV shortly after the club established contact. Daka also consulted former Salzburg teammates Hee-Chan Hwang (whom many will recall from his RB Leipzig days) and Masaya Okugawa (who mostly featured for Arminia Bielefeld), both of whom previously played in Hamburg.

Sunday the fifth of July, 2026 will forever be a poignant date for Moroccan football, as MAS Fes ended an agonising 41-year wait for domestic glory. With their 2-0 win over Olympique Dcheira on the final day, the Yellow Tigers finally got their hands on a fifth league **** le, and excitedly re-announced themselves amongst the Maghrebi sporting establishment.
Now, while regaining their seat at the Moroccan big clubs’ table was a formidable reflection of team spirit, one man in particular stood above the rest, and that was striker Soufiane Benjdida.
The poised 24-year-old’s chart-topping 20 league goals played a crucial role in powering Pablo Franco’s team to the league summit. However, as somewhat surprised followers of Belgian football will tell you, this confident hitman is far beyond the shadow of a player they witnessed in the lowlands.
Soufiane Benjdida began his football career with steady progression at the Mohammed VI Football Academy. He then moved on through the youth ranks of both Fath US and FAR in the Moroccan capital Rabat, before being picked up by giants Raja Casablanca from his home city.
Here, two years were enough to see his tenacious style turn heads in Europe. Under former Belgian national team boss Marc Wilmots, Benjdida registered eight goals in 17 games in the 2021-22 Botola Pro campaign as the Green Eagles finished second to bitter rivals Wydad.

Olympique de Marseille are reportedly considering signing 2018 World Cup winner Djibril Sidibé (33), according to RMC Sport.
A free agent since leaving Toulouse FC, the French full-back is reportedly seen internally as a real opportunity in the transfer market. With considerable top-flight experience under his belt, the player who came through the ranks at ESTAC Troyes is coming off the back of two full seasons in which he made a total of 63 appearances (three goals, seven ****** ists) for the Violets.
This profile has caught the eye of Marseille, where he would immediately be seen as a key figure in the dressing room, whilst several Italian clubs have recently informed the player's entourage of their desire to lure him across the Pyrenees.
It now remains to be seen which path Sidibé will choose, as he could return to European competition in the south of France, with Marseille having secured their place in the Europa League group stage at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Olympique Lyonnais are reportedly interested in Derby County's Jacob Widell Zetterström (28), according to information from Foot Mercato.
Having joined the Rams from Djurgårdens IF in the summer of 2024, the Stockholm-born player has established himself as the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper.
Making 42 appearances as first-choice goalkeeper (nine clean sheets, 51 goals conceded) during his first season in England, Widell Zetterström started a further 33 times (seven clean sheets, 47 goals conceded) throughout the 2025-26 campaign, in which he was forced to sit out for several weeks.
With a contract running with Derby County until 2027, the Swede – who started against France in the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup (3-0) – is, however, reportedly being viewed by Lyon as an option should Dominik Greif (29) or Rémy Descamps (30) leave this summer. A possibility which, for the time being, is not on the agenda. But Widell Zetterström's profile is appealing.

Hamburg have officially confirmed the signing of Zambia striker Patson Daka. Multiple sources report that another addition is set to be unveiled shortly. Moroccan midfielder Bilal Nadir will also join the Bundesliga outfit on free transfer. Kicker, Sport Bild, and the Hamburger Morgenpost all confirm that a deal to acquire Nadir is effetely done. Nadir arrives from French first division side Olympique Marseille.
Nadir – an €8m-valuced player- is said to have a profile similar to that of departed leading goalscorer Fabio Vieira. The fact that the 22-year-old is nevertheless limited to a more centralized role nevertheless means that he is not intended to serve as a direct replacement for the departed Portuguese international. Kicker reports that Hamburg remain committed to signing Vieira permanently.
“In signing Patson, we’ve specifically strengthened ourselves at the center-forward position,” newly appointed HSV Board Member for Sport Kathleen Krüger noted in a club statement. “With him, we’re gaining a center forward who meets our expectations quite clearly.”
“Patson brings many qualities that are essential to our style of play,” HSV sporting director Claus Costa added. “He combines energy, speed, and deep runs of the highest intensity.”
“I’m happy to be here now and can’t wait to get started,” the player himself said. “I’m a passionate and energetic player whose job is to score goals. I think that’s exactly how I can help the team.”

Juventus' Loïs Openda (26) is reportedly open to the idea of joining Olympique Lyonnais this summer, according to Foot Mercato.
So much so that the Belgian is said to have sent positive signals to the Rhône-based club in recent hours, a move that would allow him to return to Ligue 1 – where he shone with RC Lens, though it is proving difficult for them to re-sign him – as well as to compete in the Champions League, with OL set to face Sparta Prague in the third qualifying round in early August.
However, Les Gones' management will have their work cut out to convince their Turin counterparts, who are reportedly more keen to send the striker to the Premier League, where recently promoted Coventry City are said to have expressed particular interest in Openda.
In doing so, the Bianconeri hope to offload their striker's hefty salary, as he remains under contract with Juve until 2030. After a difficult season (two goals in 34 matches), the time seems to have come for the Liège-born player to pack his bags… with the aim of bouncing back straight away.

Mason Greenwood has officially joined Fenerbahce from Olympique Marseille for €39m plus add-ons, ending one of the transfer sagas of the summer, as Roma were frozen out.
The Giallorossi did not disguise that he was the first choice to strengthen their attack after qualifying for the Champions League.
However, while they were prepared to perhaps pay even more than Fenerbahce ultimately did, they could not compete with the reported wages of €10m per season in Turkiye.
Greenwood also seemed to favour a move to Fenerbahce, holding negotiations with two different Presidential candidates, as Roma were unable to convince him.
While Atletico Madrid and some Saudi Pro League sides were also interested, the Englishman had made his decision some weeks ago.

Having long been a target for Roma, it is reported that Mason Greenwood is heading to Istanbul for a Fenerbahce medical, with precise details of the fee to Olympique Marseille, Manchester United and Getafe.
The Giallorossi made no secret that Greenwood was their first choice for the wide left role in attack, and had been preparing a package close to the €50m asking price.

However, Fenerbahce took a different route and started talks with the player early, agreeing personal terms on a vastly superior salary worth up to a reported €9m per season.
Now several sources in Turkiye maintain the deal is done, despite late interest from Atletico Madrid and of course Roma.

Premier League giants Chelsea are reportedly contemplating a summer swoop for Bologna forward Jonathan Rowe. According to Il Resto del Carlino via Calciomercato, the Italian club will listen to offers for the former Olympique Marseille star.
Bologna signed Rowe only last summer, parting with €17 million to capture his signature. After a relatively slow start to life in Serie A, the 23-year-old sparked to life in the second half of the season, establishing himself as one of the mainstays of Vincenzo Italiano's side.
Nevertheless, the numbers were far from impressive. Indeed, Rowe scored just three goals and added three ****** ists in 28 league appearances. His contribution, however, extended far beyond the raw numbers, with his pace, direct running and relentless work rate making him a constant nuisance for opposition defences.
After failing to secure European football, Bologna may have to reluctantly sell several first-team stars. And Rowe could be among the first to go.
Despite his rough season, Rowe remains one of the most valuable players at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara. His current market value stands at €40 million, and there's little doubt that Bologna would demand every penny of that valuation before sanctioning his departure.

Interest in FC Lorient's Pablo Pagis (23) is continuing to grow, as RC Strasbourg Alsace join the race to sign the playmaker, as per a report fromOuest-France.
Pagis, who came through the academy at Lorient, is coming off the back of a breakthrough season in which he scored 10 goals in 28 appearances in Ligue 1. The Frenchman has announced a desire to leave Les Merlus, however, the Breton club won't simply be giving him away, even if he has just one year remaining on his deal.
A price tag of €10m was initially floated, but that was denied by president Loic Féry, who said that it would take €20m to lure Pagis away from the Moustoir. Given the level of interest, that may be an attainable fee for FCL.
Paris FC are in for Pagis, as are RC Lens, Olympique Lyonnais, and BlueCo-owned Strasbourg. An unnamed English side and an unnamed German side are also contenders for his signature.

Ismael Bennacer is still on the Milan books after the Dinamo Zagreb loan, but is taking matters into his own hands to find a new club this summer.
The Algeria international had been a big investment when making the transfer to Milan in 2019 for €17.2m from Empoli.
His career was at its peak when he suffered a devastating knee injury in May 2023, from which he struggled to fully recover.

RC Strasbourg Alsace, OGC Nice and Olympique Lyonnais are reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation regarding IK Sirius’ Robbie Ure (22), according to L’Équipe.
Currently the top scorer in the Swedish league with 16 goals in as many matches across all competitions this season, the Scot has made a flying start to the campaign.
A product of the Rangers academy, the Glasgow-born player moved to Sweden in March 2025 after a year-and-a-half spell in the youth ranks at RCS Anderlecht. Having enjoyed a debut season in which he proved decisive on 15 occasions (11 goals, four ******* ists) in 30 matches for the Blåsvart, the Scottish Under-21 international has continued to confirm his rise to prominence.
Under contract with Sirius until December 2029, the 22-year-old therefore fits the profile of a centre-forward available at a reasonable price – a player sought after not only by RCSA, who are looking to strengthen their squad to compensate for the injury-enforced absence of Joaquín Panichelli (23) until the end of the calendar year, but also by OGCN and OL.

Olympique Lyonnais are in the market for a new forward this summer and, after showing interest in Hearts' Claudio Braga (26), the club have now turned their attention towards Glasgow Rangers' Youssef Chermiti (22), according to a report from Foot Mercato.
OL are without a talisman heading into the coming season. Endrick's loan from Real Madrid has expired, Rachid Ghezzal's contract has expired, and Roman Yaremchuk's loan move has not (yet) been made permanent.
There is a big hole to fill and Lyon believe that Chermiti can fill it. Following his €8m move from Everton last summer, the Portugal U21 international excelled in Scotland. In all competitions, he scored 15 goals and registered five ****** ists in 41 matches in all competitions.
Foot Mercato understands that there have already been talks between Lyon and Rangers regarding a transfer for the striker. The publication adds that a bid just shy of €20m, including bonuses, could be submitted by the Ligue 1 club.

With both France and the United States Men’s National Team through to the World Cup Round of 16, Get French Football News spoke to former Premier League stalwart and USMNT goalkeeper Brad Friedel about the US squad’s France-based players, the prospects of France and the US, and how he thinks Antoine Griezmann will fare in the MLS.
The US have had a really impressive start to the tournament – and Folarin Balogun has been one of the stand-outs with three goals and an **** ist in three appearances (plus an unfortunate red card). He had a great Ligue 1 season with AS Monaco – to what extent do you credit his time in France for his current US form?
I think the confidence he brings from Monaco is excellent and this has been shown by his performances in the World Cup so far. As a player, to bring confidence into the World Cup is important and with the pressure of the home nation to perform, he has been excellent. So yes, his confidence coming into the tournament from his form from Monaco was really important.
Olympique de Marseille’s Timothy Weah has only one substitute appearance and one start in the dead rubber against Turkey. Do you think he’s suffering from playing in a struggling club team this season?
This can be the case as I think he is quality. With Balogun coming into the tournament with huge confidence and showing this with his goals and performances, Weah is a top player and needs game time. With the team playing so well in the opening games, Weah has had to wait for game time, so let’s see how this develops in the next game.

Olympique de Marseille will prioritise player sales before strengthening Bruno Genesio’s squad this summer as the club continues to work within financial constraints imposed by the DNCG, according to L’Équipe. The former Lille manager was officially appointed on Wednesday, but his first transfer window is expected to be dominated by departures rather than arrivals.
OM have informed the DNCG that significant sales would be made throughout the summer to reduce the club’s wage bill, which currently stands at close to €160m and must be cut below the €100m mark. Sporting director Grégory Lorenzi has circulated a list of players to agents in an effort to facilitate exits.
Among those available are Ulisses Garcia, Amine Harit, Neal Maupay, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabon international, who recently turned 37, has attracted interest from Turkey, MLS, Saudi Arabia and Spain, although Marseille have not ruled out him remaining under Genesio if no suitable offer arrives.

Olympique de Marseille officially announced on Tuesday that their collaboration with manager Habib Beye had come to an end.
Appointed in February to succeed Roberto De Zerbi, the Senegalese manager failed to meet the targets set for him by the club's board, namely to qualify the team for the 2026-27 Champions League and to win the Coupe de France.
Knocked out at the quarter-final stage of the competition by Toulouse FC (2-2, 3-4 a.e.t.), the Olympians finished their Ligue 1 season in fifth place in the table, securing qualification for the Europa League. In total, Beye won just six of the 14 matches he managed from the OM dugout, suffering six defeats and two draws.
"Olympique de Marseille announces that it is ending its collaboration with Habib Beye. The club thanks Habib Beye and wishes him all the best for the rest of his career," the club said in a statement.
His announced successor, Bruno Genesio, the former Lille OSC manager, is expected to be officially confirmed by the French club shortly.

The Premier League's newly promoted sides are showing a strong interest in Toulouse FC striker Emersonn (21), as per a report fromSky Sports.
It was reported by the outlet on Monday that Toulouse had rejected a bid of a little over £17m for the Brazilian forward.
Having joined Le TéFéCé last summer, Emersonn has enjoyed a remarkable first season in the French league. Starting in 22 of his 31 appearances across all competitions, the Brazilian made ten goal contributions, scoring seven goals – notably against Olympique de Marseille, Olympique Lyonnais and AS Monaco – and providing three ****** ists.
Hull City, having seen their opening offer rejected, remain in the race but they are not alone in showing interest in the Toulouse forward. Mehdi Benatia has expressed his surprise at the limited game time Neil El Aynaoui has been afforded at Roma, while revealing he tried to bring the midfielder to Marseille before the Giallorossi stepped in.
The former Roma defender, who is now sporting director at Olympique Marseille, was speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport in a wide-ranging interview that touched on Italian football and his old club.
He reserved warm words for his compatriot.
“He’s very strong because he combines quality and quantity,” Benatia said of El Aynaoui, with quotes via TuttoMercatoWeb.
“I didn’t understand why he played less at Roma than I would have expected. I had tried to sign him for my Marseille, but he cost too much.”

French reports claim Roma are back in front for Mason Greenwood after Olympique Marseille received a 'disrespectful' €30m offer from Fenerbahce.
The winger must be sold to raise much-needed funds, as Marseille are going through a serious financial crisis.
However, as part of the agreement for his €26m transfer from Manchester United in 2024, they also owe the Premier League club 40 per cent of the sale fee.

This means they are demanding €55m, so RMC Sport and le10sport in France claim the Marseille response to the first formal Fenerbahce written offer was one of disgust.

William Saliba’s (25) loan to Olympique de Marseille back in 2021 changed the course of his career. It not only saw him enter into Mikel Arteta’s plans at ****** nal, but it also led to a call-up to the France national team. As he tells L’Équipe, however, it could have been very different.
Saliba’s season loan at the Vélodrome (2021-22) came following previous spells on loan at formative club AS Saint-Étienne and then at OGC Nice. Neither had allowed him to force his way into Arteta’s plans at the Emirates.
That summer, prior to joining OM, his career had reached a tipping point. Saliba tells L’Équipe that he was told to not even report for pre-season at ****** nal that summer and instead find a club to join on loan. “Arsenal wanted me to go to Newcastle United or Crystal Palace, but I didn’t want to [do that],” recalls the France international.
He continued, “I remember that summer, it was either Lille OSC or Marseille. I was on the verge of joining Lille but there was a financial problem.” It was this financial problem that led him to OM. But Saliba admits that there was initially some reticence.
“Marseille is a big club, but it is scary,” he told L’Équipe. “It was the season where it was a bit crazy, where the supporters had gone to the Commanderie (OM’s training ground). But, with my agent, we said: ‘Marseille, if you go there and have a good season, it is the team in France and things can move quickly. Jorge Sampaoli really wanted me. I went to Marseille and things moved so quickly. I played almost all of the matches. My value rose again. I started having fun again.”
