The Mexican Federation of Football is standing with FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
The organization released a statement on Thursday, August 6 expressing their support for Infantino amid controversy surrounding a plan to sell a minority stake in FIFA to private investors.
"The FMF supports President Infantino's leadership in continuing to drive the development of football through institutional strengthening," the statement said in Spanish.
The statement started by saying that football is of "fundamental value" and "the best defense lies in the institutional integrity and respect of the governance and the processes that they protect."
Earlier on Thursday, the Confederation of African Football's Executive Committee unanimously confirmed its support for Infantino.

Most of the available pool of tariff revenue has been disbursed back to U.S. companies, but American consumers are still looking for their share of the refunds.
As of the end of July, about $100 billion in tariff refunds were sent to the U.S. Department of Treasury to be disbursed to approved importers, according to a Tuesday filing to the U.S. Court of International Trade. The total is about 60% of the $166 billion in revenues collected from import taxes under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), which were struck down by the Supreme Court in February.
Some U.S. consumers, however, are getting antsy that they haven't seen any of that sum reach their own wallets. Last month, New York resident Tyasia Johns filed a class action lawsuit against discount retailer Five Below, claiming it failed to return the tariff refunds it received to customers who actually paid for the levies.
Johns alleged Five Below passed down the cost of the IEEPA tariffs to consumers through increased prices and was able to preserve its profits—seeing a 22.9% year-over-year increase in net sales to $4.76 billion in 2025—through these price increases. According to the lawsuit, Five Below has not confirmed whether it has applied for or received refunds through the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, or if it intends to pass down those refunds to consumers.
The complaint demanded injunctive relief and an award of actual damages to class members, but did not include the prospective size of the class or specific magnitude of damages.

American tennis star Coco Gauff weighed in on the WTA's new **** testing requirement for players, saying she understands the desire to create fair competition while also expressing her support for the transgender community.
Gauff, the world No. 4-ranked singles player is competing in the National Bank Open in Toronto, a 13-day tournament that started last week. She answered a question about the policy after her second-round win against fellow American Kayla Day on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
"I understand the reasoning behind it and I do think this kind of conversation has created a lot of animosity towards the trans community, which I'm not really a big fan of, but I also understand the, I guess, biological difference and the need to protect that and preserve that," Gauff said. "So I think it's a conversation that is very nuanced and I need to have a nuanced answer. So yes, I kind of agree with trying to protect the fairness in women's sports, but also do not like the attack that it is creating (by) people who don't really care but just want to use this as a reason to attack the trans community.
"I don't really know how to answer this question in a way that people aren't gonna spin it. But as far as where I stand, I definitely support the trans community but I also support the need of creating fairness in sport, too."
The WTA changed its gender eligibility policy July 21, requiring all players take a one-time SRY gene test. The test, done by blood sample or cheek swab, checks for the presence of a gene found on the Y chromosome and **** ociated with typical male **** development. NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal knows a thing or two about getting fouled. During his NBA career, O'Neal faced punishment from some of the meanest big men around. Due to his spotty free-throw ability, O'Neal often found himself subject to some pretty rough and obvious fouls from defenders.
That makes O'Neal uniquely qualified — in his opinion, at least — to talk about Caitlin Clark's current situation in the WNBA. Clark has been the subject of some particularly hard fouls this season, causing all manner of people — whether qualified or not — to weigh in on how the WNBA should protect one of its biggest stars.
O'Neal doesn't see it that way, though. To O'Neal, what Clark is facing is something all the greats have endured early in their careers. During an interview with CNBC, O'Neal said all the hard fouls and rough treatment against Clark are "rites of passage" talented players have to overcome.
"All the greats have to go through what we call rites of passage. She's a fabulous player, but we're not giving you anything, ever. You have to earn it," O'Neal said. "So for her, she needs to toughen up, take those licks, and show them that, 'These licks don't bother me.'"
That's not a surprising take from O'Neal, who — through previous comments — has made it clear he values toughness and sees hard fouls as a part of the game. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Josh Simmons did everything the Kansas City Chiefs expected of him when they drafted him in the first round last year.
He won the starting job protecting the blind side of Patrick Mahomes in the offseason, and the former Ohio State standout held fast to it throughout training camp. He was a stalwart through the first five weeks of the season, not only living up to the expectations placed upon him but, at least to those watching from afar, exceeding every one of them.
Then things went haywire, much as they did for the team as a whole.
Simmons was gone for about a month for what the team would only call "personal reasons." When he returned, he managed to play just a few more weeks before a fractured wrist in Week 13 landed him on season-ending injured reserve.
Well, the wrist is healed now. The ACL injury that ended his final season with the Buckeyes has long since healed. Simmons has put on weight, gone through an entire offseason at full speed, and he seems ready to finally step into a starring role on the offensive line.

TORONTO (AP) — Coco Gauff understands the reasoning behind the WTA Tour's newly introduced gene-testing policy. What the two-time Grand Slam champion doesn't favor is how politicized the discussion becomes in generating what Gauff called, "animosity towards the trans community."
To her, the topic requires a more nuanced conversation, which is why Gauff provided what she called a nuanced answer, in speaking to reporters at the Canadian Open in Toronto following her opening-match win over Kayla Day on Wednesday.

The debate around transgender athletes participating in women's sports has reached all-time highs after comments on the subject by Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham and tennis stars Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff.
Now, Jay Feely, a former NFL placekicker who is now the Republican nominee for Arizona's 1st congressional district, is giving his thoughts on the topic.

Just because a team invests big on an NFL player, doesn't mean that player will automatically live up to expectations. So, when the Dallas Cowboys invested a first-round pick and a four-year, $13,155,806 contract to make Tyler Guyton their next starting left tackle, they bet on the upside but understood the risk of the unknown. For the first two years of the deal, risk was about all that was being seen.
Injuries and effort stunted Guyton's development early, placing his long-term future in doubt. It got to the point Brian Scottenheimer had to call his left tackle spot a competition heading into training camp. Options were limited but reserve tackle Nate Thomas had shown promise in the past. While this was likely motivational more than reality, Schottenheimer's threats seemed to have worked. Left tackle is now Guyton's job to lose and Thomas is firmly positioned behind the first rounder on the depth chart.
Guyton's success is clearly in the best interests of the Cowboys. At 6-foot-7, 322 pounds, Guyton is built like a prototypical blindside protector. Together with a long reach and tremendous athleticism, Guyton's ceiling is far and away the highest ceiling of all tackle prospects on the roster.
Under contract for two more years and with a team option tacked on (must be executed following this season), Guyton can be an affordable starter on one of Dallas' most expensive units. A new deal will come due at just the right time, positioning the former Oklahoma product to play in Dallas long-term. Living up to his first-round expectations is a required step in that forecast.
"I think he's doing some really great things," Schottenheimer said of Guyton. "I think his sets are very compact, he's in control, he's not oversetting. He's playing the leverage game, his punches have been good but I don't think that's anything new to the [full] pads. I think that started with him being one of the first guys in the building. We've reached Day 38 in our countdown to the New Orleans Saints' season opener, making this 38-yard Drew Brees touchdown pass our pick for the Saints Play of the Day. It was a big throw in a big moment inside the two-minute warning; Brees and the New Orleans offense were facing 3rd-and-13 against a Raiders team coached by none other than Dennis Allen, a former Sean Payton ***** istant who knew them very well. But Brees delivered.
