Azure crossed $100B annually with 43% growth, and Microsoft's commercial backlog surged 84% to $678B, explaining why markets shrugged off AI safety calls.
Progressive fell 5% and Sherwin-Williams dropped 12% over the past year as housing starts slid 12% and consumer sentiment hit a recessionary 55.
Trump's 'whoever wins, AI wins' framing directly counters Manchin's push for an executive order freezing AI IPOs until federal safeguards are established.

A serious team requires serious stats by which they'll be evaluated. Over the last calendar year, the Chicago Bears have become a serious team led by a serious head coach in Ben Johnson and a serious quarterback in Caleb Williams. Which means that the world of ****** ytics in football will be more relevant for them in 2026 than we have perhaps seen in years past.
While not as robust (or widely utilized) as their counterparts in the baseball world, advanced stats have progressively become more relevant for the NFL and its players in recent years. Pro Football Focus is sort of a driver of this increase, and it's here that we begin our journey into this world.
PFF, as it's known colloquially, ****** igns a grade for every action that a player completes on the field. These grades occur on a scale from +2 to -2, with zero representing the average in between the two ends of the spectrum. These grades don't just occur in a vacuum, either. Positional context and the game situation itself are each taken into account as part of where a given play lands on the scale.

Solana (SOL) hit a sell wall at $110 and has been progressively retreating since then, as expectations concerning interest rates shifted in the past few days.
Following the Federal Reserve's Jackson Hole summit last week, ***** ysts revisited their projections for interest rate decisions for September, upping their odds of a 25 basis point rate hike from 36% to 66%.
This prompted a wave of selling that has pushed SOL down to the $100 psychological threshold. However, the token could keep dropping, as this price zone has not yet proven to be a contested level.
Trading volumes have been dropping in the past few days, heading down to $3 billion after temporarily hitting $8 billion on August 21.
This indicates that investors' interest in the token at this level is still weak. This could set the stage for a sustained decline to lower areas where a higher volume of buy orders may be sitting.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has acknowledged that things have not gone the way he wanted this season, but the Toronto Blue Jays star remains determined to turn his form around.
Guerrero had a productive series against Cleveland, going 4-for-11 with a home run, a double, a walk and six RBI across the three games.
However, his overall numbers have not reflected that performance. He has posted a .689 OPS through 126 games this season.

CNN host and former advisor to President Barack Obama Van Jones questioned if Michigan Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed thought he was "smarter than Barack Obama" on foreign policy in fiery comments discussing the "dangerous" beliefs held by many progressive figures in the Democratic Party.
El-Sayed, a vocal critic of Israel and former CNN commentator, has been embroiled in political controversies regarding his stance toward Israel and his relationship with a famous left-wing livestreamer, Hasan Piker.
In late August, Jones appeared on the "Ask Haviv Anything" podcast, where he addressed how the long and historic alliance between Black and Jewish Americans has recently fractured. He went on to criticize El-Sayed over his stance on Israel, saying, "his positions on Israel and foreign policy are insane."
"Look, some Democrats are going to say that we should condition military aid. That, you know, 'Israel's gone too far in Gaza and in the West Bank and in Lebanon. We're going to put some conditions on you.' I think that's a defensible position if you're a Democrat," he said. "That's not Abdul's position."

CLEVELAND (AP) — Shane Bieber's homecoming at Progressive Field gave him all the warm and fuzzy feelings he had hoped. It was perfect — except for one thing.
He didn't get to pitch.
"I was definitely looking forward to that," Bieber said Tuesday. "But it will happen. I trust it will happen at the right time."
Bieber, who won the AL Cy Young while pitching for Cleveland in 2020, made his first trip back to face the Guardians since the club traded him to Toronto last season. The 31-year-old said it felt "odd" walking up the steps into the visitor's dugout and he was certain that watching the game from the other side would be different.
But Bieber, who's currently on the injured list with an elbow issue, was savoring the chance to catch up with former teammates, coaches and others. He spent nearly an hour on the field holding court behind the batting cage, sharing hugs, laughs and long embraces with friends he considers family.

CLEVELAND — As a kid in Australia, Travis Bazzana fell short of his goal to play in the Little League World Series. But, considering he was named an All-Star in his rookie year in the major leagues, he seems to be doing all right for himself, all things considered.
And on Saturday, Aug. 29 at Progressive Field, he was able to make the day for a group of Australian Little Leaguers who now look up to him for inspiration for their own baseball journey.
In reality, that's what Bazzana wanted above all else.
"It's special for me because before I ever stepped foot in professional baseball, I wanted to do enough and have a career that people would want to aspire to, and just leave a mark on the younger players and hopefully give back," Bazzana said. "So now to be doing that is really fulfilling."
The kids, mostly 11- and 12-year-olds who represented Team Australia in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., traveled to Cleveland to meet Bazzana before flying back home, which is roughly a 32-hour journey.

The FDA approved Pasatru, whose generic name is garetosmab, of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:REGN) for adults with fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva. FOP is an ultra-rare genetic disorder in which bone forms inside muscles, tendons, and ligaments, progressively restricting movement. In a 56-week Phase 3 trial involving 63 adults, the approved 3-milligram-per-kilogram dose reduced the number of new abnormal bone lesions by 94% compared with placebo. The decision completed an unusual clinical recovery. Regeneron paused an earlier study in 2020 after five patients died during its open-label portion, when all participants were receiving active treatment. The published ****** ysis later considered a relationship to treatment unlikely, although causality could not be ruled out. For Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:REGN), Pasatru is a regulatory and scientific victory whose earnings potential is constrained by an exceptionally small market.
The company's existing scale makes that limitation difficult to ignore. Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:REGN) generated second-quarter revenue of $4.29 billion, up 17%, while company-defined non-GAAP diluted EPS reached $14.29. Global Dupixent sales, recorded by partner Sanofi, increased 38% to approximately $6 billion, and U.S. Eylea HD sales rose 52% to $596 million. Against those franchises, even a successful Pasatru launch would have limited influence on consolidated results.
The approval demonstrates that Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:REGN) can recover a program after a major clinical setback. Following the 2020 dosing pause, the company worked with regulators to design a late-stage study that produced a statistically significant reduction in new bone lesions. Pasatru also validates research into Activin A, which activates the mutant ACVR1/ALK2 receptor and triggers abnormal bone formation in FOP.
That platform value may matter more than initial sales. Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:REGN) plans to begin a pediatric trial later in 2026, which could eventually expand the eligible population. The regulatory recovery may also strengthen confidence in the company's ability to advance other rare-disease programs from internally discovered biology.
Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:REGN) is entering an exceptionally small pharmaceutical market. Published prevalence estimates generally range from approximately one case per one million to one per two million people. Only approximately 800 to 900 known or confirmed cases have been identified globally, although additional patients may remain undiagnosed. Pasatru is currently approved only for adults, further narrowing its immediate market.

Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed told Fox News host Jesse Watters on Monday that he would not defend the Green New Deal when confronted with his past support for the progressive climate proposal, a notable shift from years of publicly embracing it by name.
"Look, I'm not going to defend the Green New Deal," El-Sayed told Watters after the host confronted him over his past support for the proposal. When Watters reiterated that El-Sayed was on record supporting it, El-Sayed redirected the discussion toward lowering energy costs and creating Michigan jobs by prioritizing renewables.
Michigan, which Trump won in 2024 but lost in 2020, is shaping up to have one of the most competitive Senate races in the country, with the likely narrow results in the state potentially determining control of Congress. Critics charge that El-Sayed is downplaying some of his past beliefs and scrubbing his online footprint to appear more moderate, and therefore more palatable, to Michigan voters.
Unearthed Clip Exposes More Anti-police Rhetoric As El-sayed Gets Grilled For Deleting Social Media Posts
Though El-Sayed declined to defend the Green New Deal in front of a national audience, he previously hasn't been so shy.

At least one in four NFL players could develop chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a progressive brain disease linked to repeated head impacts, new research suggests.
Researchers found CTE in 215 of 878 former NFL players who died between 2016 and 2021, meaning 24.5 percent have died with CTE. The study was led by Dr. Daniel Daneshvar, a physician and researcher at Mass General Brigham and Harvard Medical School, along with researchers from Boston University and other institutions.
That figure may underestimate how common CTE is among former NFL players. Researchers examined the brains of 235 of the 878 players who died during the study period, leaving 643 brains unexamined.
CTE is caused by repeated head impacts and can only be definitively diagnosed after death. It is extremely rare without repeated head trauma. The disease can cause memory loss, confusion, mood changes, impaired decision-making, impulsive behavior and addiction, according to the American Brain Foundation.
CTE was first identified in boxers nearly a century ago and has since been found in other athletes exposed to repeated head impacts, including hockey, rugby, soccer, wrestling and bobsledding. Researchers have also found evidence suggesting military personnel exposed to repeated blasts may be at risk.

A new study from researchers at Mass General Brigham, Boston University, and the Concussion & CTE Foundation found that at least one in four former NFL players who died between 2016 and 2021 had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease linked to repeated head trauma.
The findings, published Tuesday in The British Medical Journal, examined former NFL players from the hard-shell helmet era and suggest the prevalence of CTE among professional football players is significantly higher than in the general population.
Researchers identified 878 former NFL players who died between 2016 and 2021. Of those, 235 donated their brains for study, and 215 of the donated brains, or 91.4%, showed evidence of CTE.
Because CTE can only be diagnosed after death through brain tissue examination, researchers estimated a range for how widespread the disease may have been among all deceased former players. Their most conservative estimate found at least 24.5% of former NFL players who died during that period had CTE. The upper estimate reached 97.7%, though researchers said both extremes are unlikely and the true prevalence is likely somewhere in between.
"Community brain bank studies have shown that CTE affects less than 1% of the general population," said Dr. Daniel Daneshvar, lead author of the study and chair of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Mass General Brigham. "To find that somewhere between 24.5% and 97.7% of NFL players from that time period had this progressive brain disease is a wake-up call for the NFL and scientific communities."

SYDNEY (AP) — Motor neurone disease is not likely to stop Jai Arrow trying to bring up a career milestone in Australia's National Rugby League.
The NRL is planning an exception to its rules to allow the veteran forward a chance to be on the field for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in his 99th and 100th rugby league games for the club, if only for a few moments.
Arrow, 31, was diagnosed in May with Motor neurone disease, which MND Australia describes as an umbrella term for a group of progressive neurological conditions where the motor neurones degenerate. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is the most common form, and ALS is often called Lou Gehrig's disease.
As part of an agreement with the Rabbitohs, the NRL granted South Sydney special dispensation to include Arrow as an extra player on Tuesday's official team list and an extra substitution in their rotation for the game against the Gold Coast ******* ans on Saturday. A similar dispensation will be allowed for South Sydney's last regular season game against Sydney Roosters.
According to the NRL, Arrow will get dressed in South Sydney playing kit for the two NRL game days in the Rabbitohs dressing room, lead the Rabbitohs team onto the field of play, be the team's first interchange of the match within the first few seconds after the opening whistle without taking part in any play during the game, and be able to sit on the interchange bench for the remainder of the game in his playing kit.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed, distanced himself Monday from progressive commentator Hasan Piker, who suggested that some pro-Israel rhetoric may lead to backlash against American Jews.
The controversy could complicate El-Sayed's campaign as he tries to unify Democrats in a battleground state that will help decide control of the U.S. Senate.
El Sayed is one of several Democratic candidates this year who harnessed Piker's online megaphone to appeal to younger voters, and they appeared together at campaign events during the primary, but last week's comments may have cooled the relationship.
Wearing a suit and tie during one of his typically hours-long livestreams, Piker argued against the idea that opposing Israel is antisemitic. American Jews are not uniformly supportive of Israel, he said, but many "Jewish institutions" are "teaching people the idea that Jews are monolithic" and "its a very dangerous mode of propaganda."
"If Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they are singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone is going to come around and take action, not against the state of Israel mind you, but against American Jews," he said.

"The Office" star Rainn Wilson insisted Thursday that Texas' Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico was "achingly close" to Jesus' "brand of Christianity" compared to his conservative opponents.
On his "Soul Boom" podcast, Wilson and New York Times journalist Ezra Klein called out what they believed was hypocrisy from Texas GOP Senate candidate Ken Paxton and his supporters repeatedly attacking Talarico despite their "aggressively professed Christianity."
"Whenever I watch these attacks, I think, 'You all would have hated Jesus Christ,'" Klein said. "You would have found him to be the most annoying, weepy, worrying about the wrong people — the outsiders, the outcasts…"

Vice President JD Vance put Abdul El-Sayed at the center of his attack on the modern Democratic Party, pointing to the Michigan Senate nominee's past remarks linking criticism of Sharia law to White supremacy as evidence that the party has abandoned its working-class roots.
Vance delivered the remarks Friday at the Cleveland-Cliffs Middletown Works steel plant in his Ohio hometown as neighboring Michigan gears up for one of the midterms' most competitive Senate races.
El-Sayed is facing Republican former Rep. Mike Rogers in a contest that could help determine control of the Senate.
Vance spoke about his late grandfather, who worked as a welder for 40 years and voted Democrat because he believed it was "the party of union men." But Vance argued the Democratic Party has strayed from its working-class identity.

The Pentagon on Friday fired the editor-in-chief of Stars and Stripes and a top reporter for insubordination after they spoke publicly against any interference by the Defense Department in the military news outlet that has a long history of editorial independence. It was the latest move by an administration that has grown increasingly aggressive toward the news media.
The newspaper's publisher, who announced his impending retirement days ago, was also dismissed.
Erik Slavin, editor-in-chief of the military newspaper that is partly funded by the Pentagon, told The **** ociated Press he was dismissed for insubordination after an interview he gave that objected to potential censorship by the U.S. military. He received a notice of separation, as did publisher Max Lederer — who had just announced his upcoming retirement — and Middle East reporter Lara Korte, Slavin said.
The moves come at a time when the Trump administration, in its second term, has been progressively combative toward the media — including sharply curtailing Pentagon access for the press corps that covers the Defense Department. Trump or other parts of the executive branch have also, in policy and in the courts, grappled with The Wall Street Journal,The **** ociated Press and The New York Times — in addition to using the FCC to target broadcast networks.
Slavin said he was being fired "for stating in a CBS interview that hypothetical censorship of news for service members would constitute a red line." Korte participated in the same interview.

Sandra Bullock is opening up about a side of grief that many people experience but rarely discuss: mourning someone before they are gone.
Bryan Randall, her longtime partner, died on August 5, 2023, at age 57 after a private three-year battle with ALS, a progressive disease that affects the nerve cells responsible for muscle movement.
But according to Bullock, the hardest goodbye did not happen on the day he died. It began years earlier, when she was still sharing life with him while slowly losing pieces of the person she knew.
Randall was a photographer and former model who began dating Bullock in 2015. His family later confirmed that he chose to keep his ALS diagnosis private, and Bullock honored that decision.
What she has chosen to share now is not about revealing details of his illness. It is about explaining what it feels like to lose someone in stages.

Sandra Bullock is opening up about the loss of her longtime partner, Bryan Randall, for the first time since his death in August 2023.
Randall — a model-turned-photographer — met Bullock in 2015 after she hired him to photograph her son Louis' fifth birthday party. He was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2020.
ALS is a progressive nervous system disease in which the brain gradually loses its connection with the muscles, taking away a person's ability to walk, talk, eat and, eventually, breathe. There is currently no cure or treatment that halts progression.
Bullock, 62, recalled the "traumatic diagnosis" in the forthcoming episode of the Smartless podcast, which is currently available to SiriusXM early access subscribers.
"I wasn't allowed to speak about it. That was [his] request and I tried — I honored it," Bullock told hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz has bested a young progressive challenger and an embattled former lawmaker after a hard-fought primary characterized by its racial overtones.
Schultz, a 21-year veteran of the House, stressed her seniority on the campaign trail and her ability to deliver services to constituents and secure federal funding for her district.
To secure her primary victory, Schultz defeated former Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, who resigned in April following fraud allegations, and 27-year-old activist and teacher Elijah Manley, who is aligned with the progressive wing of the Democratic Party.
Jeffries Declines To Back Wasserman Schultz As Black Leaders Revolt Over District Switch
Mid-decade redistricting in Florida prompted Schultz to choose to run in Florida's 20th Congressional District, which has a stronger Democratic lean than her home constituency.

Céline Dion says she took high doses of Valium to cope during one period of her battle against stiff-person syndrome.
Dion was diagnosed with the rare autoimmune neurological disorder in August 2022 and went public with the news in December.
"I don't like to say 'disease,'' Dion said of her condition, noting that she has progressed to a point where she can now do Pilates.

Céline Dion suffered symptoms for nearly two decades before she was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome in 2022.
In an interview for the September 2026 issue of Harper's Bazaar, the Canadian superstar recalled how she often experienced severe pain and inability to walk for many years.
"It is a progressive condition. I don't like to say 'disease,'" she told the outlet, before describing how she decided to speak about the health crisis in her 2024 documentary, I Am: Celine Dion. "(The fans) paid for tickets. They bought my records. They gave me that luxury. So the least I can do is tell them that I'm alive."
Stiff-person syndrome (SPS) is a rare neurological disorder characterised by muscular rigidity.
Following the diagnosis, Céline embarked on a course of rehabilitation, which included new medication, physical therapy, and immunotherapy.
In the lead-up to her upcoming residency at the Plenitude Arena in Paris, France, the My Heart Will Go On hitmaker shared that she has been doing regular Pilates sessions to help maintain her mobility.

Comedian and political commentator Bill Maher tore into a Democratic congressional candidate in Seattle for abandoning a key liberal cause to better appeal to Muslim sensibilities.
Maher targeted Melissa Chaudhry, a progressive Democrat and self-described "White American convert to Islam" who is challenging longtime Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., in Washington's 9th Congressional District.
"A few weeks ago, a liberal Democrat named Melissa Chaudhry, running for Congress in Seattle, was asked why, among the many progressive causes listed on her website, LGBT rights was conspicuously absent. Because, she said, 'A lot of Muslims do not feel that way, unfortunately,'" he said.
"Is this the progressive policy now?" he asked. "Is Ms. Chaudhry right? We throw gay people under the bus anytime it clashes with what makes Muslims uncomfortable?"
