Milan roared back in the transfer market and quenched their thirst for a new wing-back by purchasing one of the most coveted ones, Diego Moreira from Strasbourg, Sky reports.
Like in their previous big deals, the Rossoneri emptied their coffers to edge out the competition and seal the deal quickly to quash any attempts to hijack it. They'll pay a €45M fee plus hefty bonuses up to €20M, part which will be hard to activate. Instead, his wages will be relatively modest.
Milan beat in particular RB Leipzig for Moreira, while Roma had targeted him earlier in the summer. The Giallorossi had tendered €35M plus €10M add-ons and a 10 percent sell-on clause. He conspicuously posted a picture donning the Rossoneri jersey in early August.
The 22-year-old got his start at Benfica and had a cup of coffee at Olympique Lyonnais before being signed by Chelsea. He was an afterthought in London and returned to France a year later, blooming over the past two campaigns at Strasbourg. He registered 7 goals and 16 **** ists in 76 appearances and was part of Belgium's World Cup squad, although he appeared just once, making an impact in their comeback versus Senegal.
They surely don't beat around the bush when they really want somebody. Only time will tell whether these big fees will come back to bite them. Instead, from a technical standpoint, there are no notes. They were thin and weak on the wings, he can handle multiple positions, giving Ruben Amorim another versatile man to play with, and, at worst, he'll bring a lot of juice. A formation featuring him and Alexis Saelemaekers wide and two no.10s behind Gonçalo Ramos will be hard to stop.

Now that Roma are close to Rodrigo Mora from FC Porto, they are putting their focus onto Olympique Lyonnais winger Malick Fofana, preferred to Inter's Luis Henrique.
Gian Piero Gasperini has been very vocal about the need for reinforcements in attack, and while Mora can play a wider role, he is generally more central.

Milan have agreed the straight loan of Zachary Athekame to Olympique Lyonnais, claim French reports, with no option to make it permanent.
There had already been suggestions today in the Italian media that Athekame was one of the players to be cut from the squad after a disappointing pre-season with new coach Ruben Amorim.

Just hours later, French transfer pundit Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport revealed that Lyon had agreed terms for a dry loan, meaning there is no option to buy at the end of the season.
The Ligue 1 side will cover his full salary during the campaign, but he will then return to San Siro in the summer of 2027.

Olympique Lyonnais were certainly hoping for a better start to their season. Away at Sparta Prague for the first leg of the third qualifying round of the Champions League, Les Gones suffered a worrying 2-1 defeat in the Czech Republic.
Playing in an experimental 3-4-2-1 formation, Paulo Fonseca's men appeared to lack their bearings for the vast majority of the match. That is why seeing them go into the dressing room with a one-goal lead at half-time, thanks to an own goal by Martin Suchomel (0–1, 45'), seemed nothing short of a miracle.
Despite coming out stronger in the second half, Lyon nevertheless conceded, somewhat predictably, the equaliser on the hour mark through Matěj Ryneš (1–1, 63′). It was a blow to the Rouge et Bleu, followed by a second, as captain Corentin Tolisso missed his penalty four minutes later, following good work from new signing Loïs Openda. And it took them only a few seconds to regret it, with John Mercado scoring Prague's second goal straight away (2-1, 69′).
Reorganised into a 4-3-3 formation following Paulo Fonseca's substitutions, Lyon pushed forward but were unable to turn the tide. With a week to go before the second leg in front of their home crowd at the Groupama Stadium, the Champions League has never seemed as far away as it did tonight for the Rhône side.

Roma have set sights on both Endrick and Franco Mastantuono to complete their frontline. Gian Piero Gasperini have explicitly asked for two more forwards, despite the recent arrival of Santiago Castro.
According to Alfredo Pedullà, the Giallorossi have been keeping tabs on the Brazilian for a month, but they are unlikely to pounce on him in short order. They want to make a splash on the left wing first, for Antonio Nusa or other options, before addressing the other one. The future of Matias Soulé, who's been for sale for the whole summer but not particularly close to leaving yet, also contributes to the timing.
Roma are dueling with Fiorentina for Mastantuono, while Endrick has some suitors abroad, Mediaset reports. The former is poised to go out on loan or with a formula similar to Nico Paz's. That could also be the case for his teammate, who has a €45/50M price tag.
The capital club has some tactical reservations. The 20-year-old isn't a pure winger nor a no.10 and is at his best as a false-nine. He's not far from Donyell Malen and Castro in terms of characteristics, even though he could still be molded. He starred for Olympique Lyonnais last year, notching 8 goals and 8 ****** ists in 21 fixtures.
Perhaps there could be an opening to sign the former permanently, as he's been under Real Madrid's control for longer without properly leveling up; if not, they'd better look elsewhere, as this kind of deal is a double-edged sword and works okay only for second-tier teams, as it winds up developing youngsters for somebody else's benefit.

Former Olympique Lyonnais and Montpellier HSC midfielder Jordan Ferri (34) is open to returning to France this summer, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Ferri left Ligue 1 a year ago to join Sampdoria, looking to experience Italian football in Serie B. However, his first season in Genoa did not unfold as hoped, with the Frenchman making only six appearances across all competitions.
Despite that limited playing time, Ferri remains determined to relaunch his career ahead of the new campaign. The midfielder would reportedly be receptive to an interesting project in either Ligue 1 or Ligue 2.
The Cavaillon-born player remains under contract with Sampdoria until 2027, meaning any prospective French club would need to reach an agreement with the Italian side.

The shirt draws inspiration from funk, a musical style for which Lyon is the official capital in France.
Circular patterns referencing vinyl records define the style on the back of the garment, but the masterstroke comes in the crest and the branding: pure psychedelia.

Olympique Lyonnais are reportedly interested in Derby County's Jacob Widell Zetterström (28), according to information from Foot Mercato.
Having joined the Rams from Djurgårdens IF in the summer of 2024, the Stockholm-born player has established himself as the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper.
Making 42 appearances as first-choice goalkeeper (nine clean sheets, 51 goals conceded) during his first season in England, Widell Zetterström started a further 33 times (seven clean sheets, 47 goals conceded) throughout the 2025-26 campaign, in which he was forced to sit out for several weeks.
With a contract running with Derby County until 2027, the Swede – who started against France in the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup (3-0) – is, however, reportedly being viewed by Lyon as an option should Dominik Greif (29) or Rémy Descamps (30) leave this summer. A possibility which, for the time being, is not on the agenda. But Widell Zetterström's profile is appealing.

Juventus' Loïs Openda (26) is reportedly open to the idea of joining Olympique Lyonnais this summer, according to Foot Mercato.
So much so that the Belgian is said to have sent positive signals to the Rhône-based club in recent hours, a move that would allow him to return to Ligue 1 – where he shone with RC Lens, though it is proving difficult for them to re-sign him – as well as to compete in the Champions League, with OL set to face Sparta Prague in the third qualifying round in early August.
However, Les Gones' management will have their work cut out to convince their Turin counterparts, who are reportedly more keen to send the striker to the Premier League, where recently promoted Coventry City are said to have expressed particular interest in Openda.
In doing so, the Bianconeri hope to offload their striker's hefty salary, as he remains under contract with Juve until 2030. After a difficult season (two goals in 34 matches), the time seems to have come for the Liège-born player to pack his bags… with the aim of bouncing back straight away.

Interest in FC Lorient's Pablo Pagis (23) is continuing to grow, as RC Strasbourg Alsace join the race to sign the playmaker, as per a report fromOuest-France.
Pagis, who came through the academy at Lorient, is coming off the back of a breakthrough season in which he scored 10 goals in 28 appearances in Ligue 1. The Frenchman has announced a desire to leave Les Merlus, however, the Breton club won't simply be giving him away, even if he has just one year remaining on his deal.
A price tag of €10m was initially floated, but that was denied by president Loic Féry, who said that it would take €20m to lure Pagis away from the Moustoir. Given the level of interest, that may be an attainable fee for FCL.
Paris FC are in for Pagis, as are RC Lens, Olympique Lyonnais, and BlueCo-owned Strasbourg. An unnamed English side and an unnamed German side are also contenders for his signature.

RC Strasbourg Alsace, OGC Nice and Olympique Lyonnais are reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation regarding IK Sirius’ Robbie Ure (22), according to L’Équipe.
Currently the top scorer in the Swedish league with 16 goals in as many matches across all competitions this season, the Scot has made a flying start to the campaign.
A product of the Rangers academy, the Glasgow-born player moved to Sweden in March 2025 after a year-and-a-half spell in the youth ranks at RCS Anderlecht. Having enjoyed a debut season in which he proved decisive on 15 occasions (11 goals, four ******* ists) in 30 matches for the Blåsvart, the Scottish Under-21 international has continued to confirm his rise to prominence.
Under contract with Sirius until December 2029, the 22-year-old therefore fits the profile of a centre-forward available at a reasonable price – a player sought after not only by RCSA, who are looking to strengthen their squad to compensate for the injury-enforced absence of Joaquín Panichelli (23) until the end of the calendar year, but also by OGCN and OL.

Olympique Lyonnais are in the market for a new forward this summer and, after showing interest in Hearts' Claudio Braga (26), the club have now turned their attention towards Glasgow Rangers' Youssef Chermiti (22), according to a report from Foot Mercato.
OL are without a talisman heading into the coming season. Endrick's loan from Real Madrid has expired, Rachid Ghezzal's contract has expired, and Roman Yaremchuk's loan move has not (yet) been made permanent.
There is a big hole to fill and Lyon believe that Chermiti can fill it. Following his €8m move from Everton last summer, the Portugal U21 international excelled in Scotland. In all competitions, he scored 15 goals and registered five ****** ists in 41 matches in all competitions.
Foot Mercato understands that there have already been talks between Lyon and Rangers regarding a transfer for the striker. The publication adds that a bid just shy of €20m, including bonuses, could be submitted by the Ligue 1 club.

It was reported by the outlet on Monday that Toulouse had rejected a bid of a little over £17m for the Brazilian forward.

With his imposing physique and towering height of 1.93 metres, Jean-Philippe Mateta (28) is not the sort to go unnoticed on the pitch. A striker often labelled as 'old-school', which sets the tone in a modern game of football increasingly focused on excessive intensity. To make his mark, the Crystal Palace player has therefore had to adapt.
Which he has managed to do perfectly, revealing a far more well-rounded profile than the mere 'fixed point' that some people imagine players of his type to be. In an interview with L'Équipe, Mateta revealed how he worked to develop the mobility and pace that have now enabled him to become a leading Premier League striker, whilst brushing aside the preconceptions **** ociated with his physique.
"We have to adapt to what football has become. The first player I saw doing that was Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He's tall, agile, and he draws everyone in," explains the former Olympique Lyonnais player. "I also watch what (Victor) Wembanyama does in basketball because he's very tall (2.24 m). I do a lot of exercises to work on that agility, such as stretching, core training and yoga. According to a report from Sacha Tavolieri, Olympique Lyonnais are set to avoid sanctions when they meet with the Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion (DNCG) this year. The Rhone club have been under strict monitoring after financial difficulty.
OL were previously relegated to Ligue 2 by the French football financial watchdog, but this decision was reversed on appeal. A stricter policy on the way the club has been run under the presidency of Michelle Kang has seen the club’s financial picture improve.
With capital injected into the football club, and costs reduced, Lyon look like they will be able to breathe easier when they meet with the DNCG. This is a stark contrast to previous meetings with the body where the club’s future in Ligue 1 has been at stake.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles (28), whose contract at Olympique Lyonnais expires at the end of next season, is being linked with a return to the Premier League, as per a report from Foot Mercato.
Maitland-Niles has thrived since making the move to France on a free transfer back in the summer of 2023. At the time of his move, the England international’s career had been stuttering, following a loan spell at Southampton.

AFC Bournemouth’s Romain Faivre (27) is expected to remain at AJ Auxerre for the 2026-27 season, according to reports from Onze Mondial.
An agreement to extend the loan of the French attacking player, who arrived in Burgundy last winter, is reported to have been reached between the two clubs. However, no buy-out clause is said to be included in the deal.
Having returned to France last January following an unsuccessful loan spell at Al-Taawoun FC, Faivre has managed to get some playing time, despite fitness issues that forced him to miss several matches. Starting in seven of his 10 appearances for AJA, the former Olympique Lyonnais player has provided two **** ists.
This was enough to make a positive impression on the club’s management, who had been hoping for several weeks to be able to keep the Asnières-sur-Seine native. This intention was confirmed by the arrival of Will Still on the Auxerre bench, replacing Christophe Pélissier, who in turn gave the green light to the idea of a further loan spell for the attacking midfielder.

Olympique Lyonnais have reached an agreement with Red Bull Salzburg for the signing of their captain, Mads Bidstrup (25), as per a report from L’Équipe.
Lyon are preparing to participate in the preliminary rounds of the UEFA Champions League. As the transfer window opens, they are already strengthening their squad. Kail Boudache’s arrival has already been confirmed. The winger has joined on a free transfer from OGC Nice.
Julien Duranville also looks set to join in a €5.5m deal from Borussia Dortmund. Bidstrup is also nearing a move to the Groupama Stadium. As per L’Équipe, a €10m agreement has been agreed with RB Salzburg. The Danish midfielder is set to sign a five-year deal.
An undisputed starter for Thomas Letsch’s team, Bidstrup started 34 of the 36 matches he played across all competitions this season – contributing one ***** ist. Should he sign with Lyon, the Dane could effectively replace Tanner Tessmann (24), whose departure this summer seems increasingly likely, as the American – who was not called up by Mauricio Pochettino for the World Cup – is reportedly attracting interest from the Premier League.

Kail Boudache (19) has signed his first professional contract with Olympique Lyonnais, rather than formative club Olympique Lyonnais.
Boudache ensured that he left a parting gift at Nice. He netted the goal that put Le Gym ahead in their Ligue 1 promotion/ relegation play-off against AS Saint-Étienne at the end of May. It ensured that the club remained in France’s top flight.
That was his third goal for Nice and his last. Boudache was integrated into the first-team set-up by Claude Puel around the turn of the year. The Côte d’Azur club were determined to retain the promising prospect, who had risen through their academy. After Nice secured safety, they made a final attempt to retain the winger and sign him to a first professional contract, but in vain.
Lyon made their move and succeeded in convincing Boudache to join the club. His arrival was confirmed on Monday. He has signed a five-year deal with Les Gones. OL will compete in the UEFA Champions League preliminary rounds next season.

Although FC Nantes will be playing in Ligue 2 next season after finishing 17th in the table, Anthony Lopes (35) will remain in Ligue 1 for a few more months.
With his contract with Les Canaris due to expire next June, the Portuguese goalkeeper is set to sign a two-year deal with SCO Angers, according to L’Équipe. An option for a further year has also been included in the deal.
Having enjoyed a satisfying season on a personal level, Lopes will bring all his experience (he has played 427 matches in the French league, the majority for Olympique Lyonnais) to an Angers side now bereft of Hervé Koffi (29), whose loan from RC Lens came to an end at the close of the season.
A starter in all 31 matches he played for Nantes this season (17 of them as captain), Lopes kept six clean sheets and conceded a total of 51 goals.
