Although their most recent encounter finished 4-2 in favour of Rangers, a last-gasp spot-kick from Nedim Bajrami saw them escape defeat when they clashed heads in Dundee back in December. James Tavernier's departure has left a massive void down the right-hand side. Ross McCrorie has returned to his boyhood club, but the gaffer should rely on Dujon Sterling, who has impressed as a fullback in their pre-season outings. Ben Godfrey, snapped up on a season-long loan from Atalanta, is expected to feature alongside Emmanuel Fernandez in the heart of the backline. Tuur Rommens has been a revelation since his January arrival, and his presence on the left would offer a perfect balance between defence and attack.

When the Twins selected him with the 16th overall pick last July, Marek Houston was seen by most scouts as a lock to stick shortstop with elite defensive talent, but a fringy bat that projects for below average production in the major leagues. Just 27 games into his Double-A tenure, Houston is already producing offense at a high level, boasting a .325 batting average with a 135 wRC+. As he begins to pop up on top 100 prospect lists, there is a growing belief that his bat has a chance to provide some real impact for the Twins.
Standing at 6'3", Marek is a twitchy and fluid athlete. He is a plus runner, nabbing 38 bags so far this season while being caught just 4 times. He has an excellent approach at the plate. Very patient hitter who is running a chase rate around 17% this season with above-average walk rates. His swing mechanics have remained largely unchanged from his time at Wake Forest. The pre-swing hand load and leg kick is a little loud, but he breaks it down with 2 strikes, which has helped him limit strikeouts and put together mature at-bats despite posting average zone contact rates. His raw power is below average, but Houston has continued to tap into more and more juice as the season has gone on. There is quality gap power if he can consistently elevate the ball.
While the offensive ceiling is still limited, any doubt that Marek Houston may not have a major league caliber bat is effectively gone. If he doesn't tap into any more power, his profile is similar to that of Austin Martin or Luke Keaschall, a patient hitter who makes a lot of contact and provides value on the bases. While these guys don't hit for much power and have middling offensive numbers, they do more for the offense than the stats show. Combining that with plus defense at the shortstop position makes for an extremely valuable player and a guy who will find a way to make a positive impact on every game.
Marek Houston is squarely on track for a 2027 debut with an outside chance of making his way onto the opening day roster. He looks like a perfect fit for the Twins as a long-term solution at the shortstop position, where the team's -15 FRV since the start of 2025 ranks 28th in MLB. While he doesn't have a dynamite bat like Walker Jenkins or Emmanuel Rodriguez, Houston is worth getting excited about as one of the system's top prospects and arguably the prospect with the highest chance to be a productive big leaguer. He has been a Minnesota Twin for just over 12 months, but fans won't have to wait much longer to see him suited up at Target Field.

Manchester City have already broken their transfer record this summer and seen a number of high-profile exits, but more activity is still expected.
After a decade with Pep Guardiola in charge, this summer will be one of the most transformative in recent memory at the Etihad Stadium. Enzo Maresca, the Catalan's former ******* istant and ex-Chelsea boss, has formally arrived as his successor.
The Italian has insisted he will not 'try to copy' Guardiola, although he would surely love to enjoy similar success. There have already been numerous adjustments made as City and Maresca build their squad ahead of the new season.

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current CBS broadcaster Tony Romo was arrested for OWI last week in Wisconsin. Bodycam footage of that arrest was published by TMZ on Tuesday. Within hours of that, conversation had already drifted to an unexpected place in the podcast realm.
"She has something against Tony right there," McCoy said on his "Speakeasy" show. "Unless she gambled. She might have placed some bets on Tony. Mexico all but booked their ticket to the Quarterfinals of the CONCACAF U20 Championship after defeating Costa Rica by a 2-0 score. Mexico overcame going down to 10 players to get a victory that place them at 6 points, basically guaranteeing them to be at worst one of the two best third placed teams and thus the ticket to the Quarterfinals. Mexico will look to win the group against Guatemala on Thursday while Costa Rica faces off against Antigua and Barbuda earlier that day.
The 1st half started with Mexico coming out with most of the starting 11 from their opener against Antigua and Barbuda. Off a free kick, a cross into the area was almost deflected in by Gabriel Sibaja, as Costa Rica had the first chance of the match. Off a counter, Kionell Estrada got off a right footed shot in the area that went wide. A right footed shot from outside the area from Hugo Camberos went well wide. Both teams traded possession as the match became very even. A bad clearance allowed Matias Cordero to get the ball in the area but his shot was well saved by Mexico's goalkeeper, Juan Liceaga. After a harsh foul, there was a short scuffle between teams that ended with David Carro getting a Yellow card. The match continued to be extremely chippy as Mexico couldn't get going against Costa Rica's physical play. From outside the area, Samir Inda got off a great left footed shot that was deflected off the post. Mexico started to dominate possession as Costa Rica sat back and waited to counter. After a cross into the area was won by Santiago Sandoval, he would get brought down in the area by Adrian Espinoza and a Penalty Kick was given to Mexico. Hugo Camberos stepped up to take the PK and got off a thunderous right footed shot that went past Costa Rica's goalkeeper, Ian O'Rourke to score and give Mexico the 1-o lead. From outside the area, Juan Echivelstre got off a great right footed shot that forced O'Rourke to make a great save. Emmanuel Hernandez answered with a right footed shot from outside the area that Liceaga made a great save on it. The halftime whistle blew and after a slow start to the match, Mexico ended the half being the better team.
The 2nd half started with Mexico subbing out Carlos Hernandez for Yohan Orozco. Strangely three minutes into the half, Mexico subbed out Aldahir Valenzuela (possibly because of an injury) for Diego Reyes. A bad clearance from Liceaga ended up with him clearing the ball and kicking Sibaja in the face which earned him a straight red card. It was a terrible mistake from the goalkeeper that now placed the match in extreme danger with only 10 players. Mexico would sub out Juan Sigala for Cristo Navarrate, which because of the strange substitution of Valenzuela, meant that Mexico only had one window for subs for the rest of the match. Off a counter, Inda would make a great pass to Santiago Sandoval, whose left footed shot would be deflected by Emmanuel Brenes past O'Rourk and into the net to score and give Mexico the surprising 2-0 l

The Seattle Seahawks have waived running back Kenny McIntosh, a former Georgia Bulldog. McIntosh won Super Bowl 60 with the Seahawks last season, but it was bittersweet because McIntosh tore his ACL prior to the 2025 NFL season, so he watched Seattle's triumphant season from the sidelines.
McIntosh was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on July 20. Seattle elected to waive McIntosh, which means he is likely not healthy yet. McIntosh was expected to make $1.1 million in 2026 and was entering a contract year. He will now hope to find a new niche in the NFL.
McIntosh was a seventh-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft. He's appeared in 20 career NFL games including all 17 in 2024. McIntosh has 31 carries for 172 yards in his NFL career. He won national ***** les at Georgia in 2021 and 2022. McIntosh notably had 126 total yards and a touchdown in Georgia's comeback win over Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
Seattle is also placing running back Zach Charbonnet on the PUP list. Charbonnet tore his ACL during Seattle's playoff run and is seeking to return in Week 1.
The Seahawks drafted Jadarian Price in the first-round of the 2026 NFL draft to help fill the void with Charbonnet possibly out and Kenneth Walker leaving via free agency. Seattle also has backup running backs George Holani and Emanuel Wilson.

EA Sports has revealed the Madden 27 ratings for the entire 2026 NFL draft class, along with some select undrafted free agents as well. So what ratings did the Jacksonville Jaguars' 10-man draft class receive?
There was a three-way tie among the Jaguars' draft picks for the highest overall Madden rating. Albert Regis, Emmanuel Pregnon, and Wesley Williams are at 73 overall.
Regis and Williams will immediately be rotational members along the defensive front, while Pregnon is currently slated to provide depth at guard.
Coming in at 70 overall were Jalen Huskey and Zach Durfee. Huskey will contribute on special teams right away and could push Caleb Ransaw for the third safety role on the depth chart. With Durfee, it remains to be seen where he fits in the defensive end rotation.
Nate Boerkircher, the Jaguars' first selection in this year's draft, has an overall rating of 67, which ranks seventh-best among Jacksonville's rookie class.

After they were knocked out in the wild-card round of the postseason, the San Francisco 49ers have added some real difference-makers on both sides of the ball over the last few months.
While their roster is better than it was at the end of the year, they could still bring in talented players who could help take them to the next level. On Monday, a new name hit the market, as Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Vita Vea requested a trade.
Every team in the league could benefit from adding a player like Vea, but former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho believes that Vea landing in San Francisco would make them legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
"If the Niners get Vita Vea. It's time to usher them back into the conversations. We've ushered the Rams into the Seahawks, as reigning champs, into the Philadelphia Eagles, they always stay in those conversations," Acho said on his "Speakeasy" podcast. "Because you got to think about what the Niners are building this offseason. I would suggest the Niners have had quietly, maybe the best offseason in all of football. You bring Dre Greenlaw back. I love the Niners linebacking core greater than any other linebacking core now. Fred Warner, Dre Greenlaw. You go get Oso Odighizuwa. I believe that he is perfectly situated now to start at defensive tackle. Alfred Collins continuing to ascend. You forgot about Mykel Williams, first-round pick from last year because of the injury. Outside of D-Mo (Deommodore Lenoir), everybody's got questions about that secondary. Is it Ji'Ayir Brown? Is it (Malik) Mustapha? But if you get somebody as stout as Vita Veya up front, playing next to Alfred Collins with Oso Odighizuwa rotating in, plus Nick Bosa on the outside, plus you got Mykel Williams on the outside, plus you got Romello Height. I just think that is an incredible formidable front in that front seven."

The Seattle Seahawks are reportedly moving on from another member of their rapidly changing running back room.
Seattle plans to waive running back Kenny McIntosh, ESPN's Brady Henderson reported on July 27. McIntosh opened training camp on the physically unable to perform list while recovering from the torn ACL that cost him the entire 2025 season.
The move has not yet appeared among the Seahawks' official roster transactions as of Henderson's report.
McIntosh's departure comes at a significant point in Seattle's backfield competition. Zach Charbonnet is also on the PUP list, leaving first-round rookie Jadarian Price, free-agent addition Emanuel Wilson and George Holani to handle the available practice work. The battle for their starting running back job is one of the central training-camp storylines.
McIntosh, a seventh-round selection in the 2023 NFL draft, finishes his Seattle tenure with 31 regular-season carries for 172 yards. All of that production came in 2024, when he averaged 5.5 yards per attempt while playing primarily behind Kenneth Walker III and Charbonnet.

The Seattle Seahawks are set to move on from one of their running backs.
ESPN's Brady Henderson reported on Monday that the Seahawks are planning to waive fourth-year back Kenny McIntosh, who is currently on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list after suffering a torn ACL last training camp.
The Seahawks confirmed Henderson's report shortly thereafter. McIntosh was not immediately replaced, so the Seahawks will enter Tuesday with an open roster spot.
It's an unfortunate situation for the national champion from Georgia, who injured his knee during 2023 training camp and barely played as a rookie. In 2024, McIntosh played in every game but predominantly on special teams. When he did get involved in the offense, rushed for 172 yards on 31 carries and caught three passes for 22 yards in limited playing time. He also was part of Seattle's kick return rotation.
With the Seahawks drafting Jadarian Price in the first round and signing Emanuel Wilson in free agency, it was always going to be difficult for McIntosh to make the roster this season. George Holani, who lost out to McIntosh for a roster spot in 2024, was able to secure a spot after McIntosh's injury and has the inside track to have an increased role in the offense. Factor in the eventual return of Zach Charbonnet from his own ACL tear, and there just wasn't much of a realistic path for McIntosh to make the 53-man roster.

Every player wants to hit the ground running and start the new season fast once training camp begins. But for which Jacksonville Jaguars players is this a must?
The reasons a strong training camp showing is vital can vary from player to player, but all three of these offensive players require a quick start once practices begin.
Long's roster spot is in jeopardy this year. The additions of Nate Boerkircher and Tanner Koziol in the draft have made for a crowded tight end room. More likely than not, Long and Quintin Morris are competing for one roster spot.
While Long brings pass-catching upside to the position, Morris is the better blocker and more heavily contributes on special teams, with those two areas potentially being viewed as more valuable by the coaching staff. If Long is going to make a strong roster push, he'll have to show he can contribute as a blocker and on teams.

Former Washington Commanders wide receiver Deebo Samuel became a free agent earlier this year, and he has yet to sign with any team. There have been conversations about his return to the Commanders, as well as a potential return to the San Francisco 49ers, but nothing has come of it yet.
On a recent episode of the "Speakeasy" podcast, hosted by Emmanuel Acho and LeSean McCoy, the two discussed Samuel's potential return to the 49ers. McCoy said that the Niners were missing a "spark" in 2025, something Samuel used to provide for the team. Acho vehemently disagreed with McCoy.
“I’m not gonna pay a glorified mascot top-tier money…I’m paying you to get 1,400 yards. Deebo had 700 last year and 670 the year before,” exclaimed Acho. “At the end of the day, Deebo has had 1-1,000-yard receiving season. ONE! JUST ONE!”
While he's technically not wrong, Samuel has had only one 1,000-yard season; he's missing what Samuel actually brings to the table, and ignoring what he has been asked to do on the field. Not every receiver is going to get 1,000 yards every year, especially if he's not WR1.
Last year, Samuel was supposed to be the slot guy, the utility receiver who can also run with the ball and provide a distraction. The Commanders were not asking him for 1,000 yards. And with the injuries to Jayden Daniels, we'll never know what kind of a season he could have had.

The Los Angeles Rams have one of the best front offices in the NFL, and as a result, they have been one of the best drafting teams in the league since general manager Les Snead took control in 2012.
Exemplifying their success is their status in CBS Sports' rankings of the best first-round picks since 2020. Despite only having one first-round pick from 2020 to 2025, their selection of Jared Verse was ranked 11th. Verse, a 2024 selection, won NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. He was the 19th selection in his class and the third-highest member (Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels) of his class in the rankings.
"The Rams' ******* ysis is easily the funniest of any in the NFL," wrote CBS Sports' Mike Renner. "They had only one first-round pick from 2020-25, and it was one of the best picks over that span, with Jared Verse checking in at No. 11 out of 191. In an ironic twist of fate, he's no longer on the Rams after the Myles Garrett trade this offseason. The Rams' attitude toward the draft is truly one of one."
While convention might state that the Rams should keep and use their first-round picks if they have such success, every first-round pick flipped since 2019 has been for a star player, including Jalen Ramsey, Matthew Stafford and Trent McDuffie.
Rams cornerback Emmanuel Forbes Jr., who the Commanders drafted, was ranked 184th. Forbes had a redemptive 2025 after a struggling start to his career in Washington.

The longtime sports media figure came quick to the defense of his former program after Emmanuel Acho attacked ESPN for getting rid of Clark. However, Wingo’s got receipts regarding viewership that don’t support Acho’s claims.

The Red Devils have completed the signings of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans from Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively.
