Andrea Locatelli's 2026 has slid far enough that Yamaha is reshuffling his garage midseason. Starting from the French Round at Magny-Cours, the Pata Maxus Yamaha rider will work with a new crew chief, Emanuele Martinelli, replacing Giulio Nava for the final four rounds of the year, WorldSBK.com confirmed.
Niccolo Canepa, Yamaha Motor Europe's road racing sporting manager, spoke to the WorldSBK world feed during FP1 at Magny-Cours and did not dress up the situation. "On Locatelli's side, the results have been lower than the expectation, we can't hide from that," Canepa said. "We needed a bit of a reset to help him regain his confidence. To reshuffle the people in the garage could be a positive thing."

The move comes after a campaign that has fallen well short of what the #55 delivered a year ago. Locatelli sits outside the top 10 in the 2026 standings, a stark drop from the fourth-place finish he managed in 2025, when he battled Alvaro Bautista and Danilo Petrucci for third and finally broke through for his first WorldSBK win in Race 2 at ****** en. This season he has yet to reach the podium at all. His best result is a fifth in Race 2 at Phillip Island, with his only other top-six coming in Race 1 at ****** en. Locatelli faces his first season without a podium in WSBK.

(Corrects quote in paragraph 2, adding reference to 'in households or the business sector, in the financial markets')
By Francesco Canepa and Howard Schneider
SINTRA, Portugal, July 1 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh said on Wednesday he will stick firmly to the U.S. central bank's 2% inflation target and "disappoint" anyone who expects loose monetary policy despite President Donald Trump's call for interest rate cuts.
"If there were people in households or the business sector, in the financial markets, who ‌thought that this central bank was going to be comfortable with an inflation objective above 2% -- well, I guess they'd be disappointed," Warsh told a European Central Bank panel in Sintra, Portugal, emphasizing that — beyond restating the inflation objective — he'd ‌give little indication about where he thinks monetary policy or the economy are headed.
Asked if the potential for disappointment extended to Trump, who picked Warsh to take over as head of the Fed and has said he expects borrowing costs to fall, Warsh said, "we have been an independent central bank for a long time. We are going to be an independent central bank at this moment and you will see no changes on that."

PARIS/BERLIN, June 24 (Reuters) - Crypto platform Binance intends to stay in the European Union and will ‌make a fresh push for permission to operate there, a senior executive ‌told Reuters, after its application under a new licence regime failed, threatening access for millions of users.
"Binance is not leaving Europe," Gillian Lynch, head of Europe and the United Kingdom, told Reuters, after its bid to secure a licence in Greece to offer services such as crypto trading in the EU unravelled.
"We may just have a different pathway ‌to being authorised," she said. "If it is not Greece, I'm looking at other alternatives."
The comments put Binance on a potential collision course with European regulators. The company has one week to secure a licence before its current permission to operate in Europe expires, which would require it to wind down EU operations.

EU in stagflationary trend, must not risk fiscal crisis, ministers say

By Jan Strupczewski and Francesco Canepa
NICOSIA, May 22 (Reuters) - Europe's economy is in a stagflationary trend due to the surge in energy prices caused by the Iran war, but ‌governments must be wary that generous fiscal support could risk a fiscal crisis or higher ‌ECB rates, top EU officials said on Friday.
The European Commission forecast on Thursday that euro zone economic growth will slow to 0.9% in 2026 from 1.3% in 2025 and inflation will jump to 3.0% from 1.9%, well above the European Central Bank's target of 2.0%.
"There is stagflationary pressure, but Europe is resilient," the chairman of euro zone finance ministers Kyriakos Pierrakakis said.
Investors have started worrying that the war in Iran may cause a lasting inflationary shock ‌and yields of government bonds rose to decade highs, threatening a severe hit to the spending power of governments, businesses and households.
