BAGHDAD (AP) — Two deadlines are looming for Iraq at the end of the month: the end of a decades-long U.S. military presence and the disarmament of non-state armed groups.
The U.S. withdrawal is underway, and officials say the hundreds of troops remaining in northern Iraq will be out by the Sept. 30 deadline.
The Iraqi government has linked the U.S. withdrawal to an ultimatum for militias to lay down their weapons. But most have indicated they have no plans to do so.
That leaves major questions about what the day after will look like in Iraq.
Iranian-backed Iraqi militias have struck U.S.-linked targets both inside and outside of Iraq since the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran on Feb. 28. They also have coordinated with Yemen's Houthi rebels to attack Saudi Arabia.

After holding Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) for more than 10 years, I wouldn't sell a single share, not even today. The company I bought back in 2016 has changed dramatically, but mostly in ways that strengthen the original reason I owned it. Microsoft has shifted from a PC-centric software business to one built on cloud, subscriptions, enterprise software, and artificial intelligence.
So the question now is whether those changes can support another decade of compounding, and whether the stock is still a buy at today's valuation.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
When I first bought Microsoft, the business was much smaller. In fiscal 2016, it generated $85.3 billion in revenue and $20.2 billion in operating income. By fiscal 2026, revenue had reached $331.8 billion and operating income $155.2 billion. Azure alone passed $100 billion in annual revenue.
The bigger change is where that growth came from. Microsoft expanded Microsoft 365, Azure, LinkedIn, Dynamics, GitHub, security, and other cloud products across largely the same enterprise customer base.

On August 5, Kinetik Holdings Inc. (NYSE:KNTK) reported the strongest quarterly results in company history and raised its full-year 2026 guidance. The Permian-focused midstream operator posted net income, including noncontrolling interest, of $123.1 million for the quarter ended June 30, while Adjusted EBITDA climbed to $280.8 million. Management didn't stop at celebrating the number. It used the quarter as the launchpad for a string of expansion decisions that stretch out to 2028.
The Midstream Logistics segment, Kinetik's largest, grew Adjusted EBITDA 35% year over year to $204.8 million in the second quarter, even though processed natural gas volumes held flat at 1.74 Bcf/d. That flat number actually undersells the quarter. It came despite roughly 250 million cubic feet per day of gas that had been shut in because of weak Waha-area pricing, with stronger natural gas liquid recoveries, condensate yields, and favorable commodity spreads carrying the segment instead.
Management is betting the growth continues well past 2026. In May, Kinetik reached a final investment decision on Kings Landing II, a roughly $260 million project that will lift sour gas processing capacity across the company's Delaware North complex above 700 MMcf/d and push total system capacity to 2.7 Bcf/d when it comes online in mid-2028, earlier than previously communicated. The ECCC Pipeline, which links the system's northern and southern halves between Eddy and Culberson Counties, is now in service, and right-of-way work has already begun on a follow-on expansion for 2027.
Kinetik also locked in new firm Gulf Coast access for residue gas starting in 2027 and signed fresh natural gas liquids transport agreements, both aimed at getting better prices for the gas it moves. On the back of that momentum, Kinetik raised its full-year 2026 Adjusted EBITDA guidance to a range of $1.04 billion to $1.1 billion, a 7% ***** p from the guidance it issued in February.
Not every part of the business is moving in the same direction. The Pipeline Transportation segment posted Adjusted EBITDA of $83.0 million in the quarter, down 14% year over year, a decline the company attributes to last year's divestiture of its equity stake in EPIC Crude Holdings. That sale removed a source of cash flow the rest of the business now has to make up for. Kinetik also expects gas curtailments to keep running at an average of 25 million cubic feet per day through the second half of 2026, on top of the Waha-driven shut-ins that already weighed on the quarter. Its own pricing ***** umptions underline the regional problem: the company is now modeling Waha Hub natural gas at negative $0.26 per MMBtu for the full year, meaning gas in parts of the Permian is priced so low that moving it out of the basin is the whole game.

Alluvium **** et Management, an **** et management company, released its "Conventum – Alluvium Global Fund" second-quarter 2026 investor letter. The letter can be downloaded here. The second quarter reflected a sharp shift from geopolitical uncertainty and oil market volatility to a powerful equity rally led by semiconductor companies. Despite the broader market strength, the Fund declined 1.4% in EUR terms, 2.2% in USD terms, and 3.9% in AUD terms. Portfolio results were mixed, with Alphabet benefiting from strong Cloud growth, while Robert Half, H&R Block and other holdings posted solid gains. However, cable businesses and several healthcare and consumer holdings weighed on performance. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Conventum – Alluvium Global Fund highlighted Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHTR). Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHTR) is a US-based broadband connectivity company. On September 15, 2026, Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHTR) closed at $141.20 per share. Over the past month, Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHTR) declined 7.39% and its shares lost 47.32% over the past 52 weeks. Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHTR) has a market capitalization of $24.73 billion and its stock has traded within a 52-week range of $111.55 and $285.82.
Conventum – Alluvium Global Fund stated the following regarding Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHTR) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:CHTR) and its tracking stock Liberty Broadband fell 34.1% and 33.7% following the release of Charter's results in April. It seems the market is understandably concerned with the average revenue per user (ARPU) being flat, and the continual loss of internet customers. Competition is intense from both fixed wireless providers and low earth orbit satellite (Starlink). Compared to Charter's cables, these are higher cost and more capacity constrained. Charter's flat ARPU is the result of its decision to provide a demonstrably better offering at a low price - so why is it losing so many internet customers? We do not know the answer. We do know though that it is growing its mobile subscribers at a much faster rate than it is losing its internet customers, and more than half of its residential customers subscribe to more than one product. We also see positives stemming from the pending **** acquisition, and indeed management increased expected synergies by 60%. It seems to us that the broader market has extrapolated current conditions to perpetuity..." (Click here to read the full text)

Maybe it's a me thing, but I've been craving the thrill and suspense of an award show. Luckily, tonight is the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, where NBC's Law & Order star Mariska Hargitay is hosting live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. As a self-proclaimed binge-watcher, I'm all caught up on tonight's nominees, led by The Pitt with 25 nominations and Hacks at 24, breaking the record for a comedy series to date. But it's not just the potential winners getting buzz; it's the red carpet arrivals, too.
We're tuning in to see which designers tonight's attendees are wearing and get a glimpse of which trends will define 2027—or, in this case, which controversial trends. Shailene Woodley, who won her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Hulu's Paradise last week, arrived on tonight's red carpet in a look from Pierpaolo Piccioli's Balenciaga F/W 26 haute couture collection.
The trend in question? Sequin-embroidered trousers. Woodley wore the divisive pants with their runway pairing, a plunging periwinkle tank, but traded the oversize coat for a pair of burgundy opera gloves. Woodley's stylist, Karla Welch, introduced more color with a beautiful collared necklace crafted from Venetian glass by HOWL. The flooded hem hides Woodley's, I ***** ume, very tall heels.

Hosted by Mariska Hargitay and live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards welcomed over 20 first-time nominees, including Chase Infiniti for The Testaments, Hacks star Megan Stalter, Sarah Pidgeon for FX's Love Story, and Carey Mulligan, who is up for two Emmy nominations for her role as Lindsay Crane-Martín in Netflix's Beef.
Mulligan attended tonight's ceremony in a dress designed by everyone's favorite minimalist duo, the Olsen twins. And yet, despite The Row's restrained approach to fashion, Mulligan's resort 27 dress is anything but. It's colorful. It's playful. It's eye-catching. The sky-blue strapless dress teases a reveal of a stark-white underpinning at the neckline, overlayed with patterned embroidery. Mulligan wore for minimal jewelry—no necklace, opting instead for stunning diamond stud earrings and a pearl ring.
The back of the dress features a deconstructed bow that drapes down to meet the hem, where a pair of pointed-toe heels peek out from underneath. See the entirety of Mulligan's look below.

Duke basketball coach Jon Scheyer addressed the reports linking him to the NBA during the offseason.
The Blue Devils head coach was reportedly linked to Dallas Mavericks through the offseason as a potential replacement for Jason Kidd. The Mavericks ultimately hired former Michigan coach Dusty May.
Scheyer discussed the NBA interest on the Glue Guys Podcast on Monday, Sept. 14.
"If anybody that knows me, I wouldn't be able to live with myself not seeing this thing through, that's just the bottom line," Scheyer said. "I'm at a one-of-one place where (it's) not often you get your dream job when you're 33, and that's what happened to me."
Scheyer took over for Mike Krzyzewski in 2022 after spending nine seasons on his predecessor's staff. A former Duke national champion and two-time team captain, Scheyer is entering his fifth season as the program's head coach. He owns a 124-25 career record, the most wins by any Division I head coach in their first four seasons, and has led the Blue Devils to three ACC Tournament championships, three NCAA Elite Eight appearances and one Final Four.

After their late loss to Sassuolo last night, it is becoming increasingly difficult to see Juventus finishing inside the top four at the end of this season, according to pundit Roberto Pavanello.
The Bianconeri have been one of the top teams in the world for several decades and have done well to maintain that status, but since they last won the league ******* le in 2020, they have been far from achieving that feat again.
One thing Juventus have consistently managed to do is secure Champions League football, but last season they failed to achieve that. Many believed their failure was linked to the quality of their squad and the fact that Luciano Spalletti did not start the season as their manager.
He has now been given a new deal for another season and was their coach during pre-season, yet Juventus cannot beat Sassuolo in their fourth league game of the season.
It is certainly too early for the team to be struggling as much as it is at the moment, but their poor start has already created doubts about what they can achieve this season.

Travis Barker's vegan journey didn't start cleanly. He went to great lengths to hide his distaste for meat as a kid. That sometimes meant getting his hands dirty, literally.
"I had a very strict father growing up, and you had to eat everything on your plate before you left the dinner table," the Blink-182 drummer recently told People. "So I'd be there for hours sometimes – till I figured out I could hide all of the meat in my pockets."
Barker, 50, looked back on the confusing time in his life in the new interview, which touched on his campaign with the Humane World for Animals organization. It aims to promote "simple choices" to better the future of animals, including "eating more plant-based meals, choosing cruelty-free products, embracing animal-friendly fashion or adopting a shelter pet instead of buying one from a pet store," according to the nonprofit's website.

Princess Charlotte has revealed a new sporting passion, and it has a surprisingly strong connection to her royal family history. The 11-year-old princess has been seen showing off her cricket skills in family footage released by the Prince and Princess of Wales, drawing attention to a sport that was once a favorite of her great-grandfather, Prince Philip.
Prince Louis reveals what Princess Charlotte really thinks of his surprising new skill (@ Karwai Tang)
Now cricket is also getting an upgrade at Sandringham, King Charles III's private Norfolk estate, and the location of Anmer Hall, the Prince and Princess of Wales' country home. Plans call for improvements to the estate's cricket ground, creating an intriguing link between Charlotte's newfound enthusiasm, her grandfather's royal estate, and a sporting tradition that stretches back generations.
According to an exclusive report in The Sun, the Sandringham and Dersingham Cricket Club, which has long used the cricket ground on the royal estate, is planning to install an all-weather artificial surface.
A planning application submitted to the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk details the £9,000 project, which is designed to extend playing hours and help protect the natural grass during periods of heavy rain or intensive use.

As noted in an ***** ociated Press report on Tuesday (Sept. 8), the driveway of the mansion has collapsed, leading to a swiftly remedied gas leak. The damage has been linked to Hurricane Marie, despite it never having made landfall.
As for the Cage connection, the Los Angeles Times, citing real estate records, says the actor is listed as the property's owner. Other reports point to prior coverage of its sale to Cage back in 2024 for more than $10 million.
Tuesday, Malibu's Director of Emergency Services confirmed a local emergency declaration in response to "a large sinkhole." An evacuation order has also been put in motion "for all affected properties," officials said in a press release.

I'm always here for celebrities who are wanting to get yolked, and if takes an Aperol Spritz or two to do it even better. Florence Pugh's been in Venice to promote Netflix's East Of Eden, but let's be honest, she really seems to be there for the content. Her latest was the weightlifting Aperol Spritz video I didn't know I needed.
Pugh was out in the Italian sun with a pal who was instructing her on her Aperol Spritz hammer curls. She opened up about how she sometimes leans forward to get those right, and you can hear her taking instruction in the background, with the filmer humorously noting,"I think you may need to take a sip of the left one to make sure they're even."
She really looks like she's stretching and straining in the video, which amuses me, although I would ******* ume there's a fair amount of liquid in the glass and if you did enough of those you would, in fact, feel the burn. She clarified in the comments she was supposed to be meeting with her personal trainer during this day of travel, but said, "by the time I got there there was only 30 minutes spare so I sent him this."

Leave it to Elon Musk to say, essentially, I've been right all along.
The **** eX (SPCX) and Tesla (TSLA) CEO agreed with Anthropic (ANTH.PVT) CEO Dario Amodei on his essay arguing for pacing AI advances.
The crux of Amodei's argument is that AI using recursive self-improvement "could outrun our ability to understand and control these systems, and so must be pursued very carefully, if at all."
In order to prevent future harms, Amodei said frontier AI companies should commit to embedding third-party evaluators in their organizations that can **** s their AI models and confirm the labs' "adherence to safety practices and commitments, report incidents, and help **** s the alignment of not just completed AI models but training pipelines and processes."
Musk replied on X.com, "Dario is right," but also added later that he's been "sounding the alarm" over AI for some time now, linking back to a post he made back in 2023, when he wrote, "AGI is significantly higher risk than nuclear weapons, in my opinion. Super smart humans have trouble imagining something vastly smarter than themselves."

Brandi Glanville's health battle sparked an unexpected Bravo reunion, with Housewives stepping up financially. Several former co-stars donated to her GoFundMe after years of unexplained medical problems.
The fundraiser aimed to cover treatment costs linked to multiple diagnoses affecting Glanville. She admitted asking for help felt humiliating, but her medical expenses had pushed her toward crowdfunding.
TMZ reported that Glanville's GoFundMe had raised about $7,000 toward its $28,000 goal. Kyle Richards contributed $500, while Claudia Jordan and longtime friend James Maas each donated $100. Camille Grammer, who starred alongside Glanville on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, gave $200. She also explained why she decided to contribute despite their complicated history.
