Barcelona is working on signing a center forward, and the problems keep piling up.
That's what 'SPORT' reported this Thursday: Barcelona are waiting for Julián Álvarez and need one more gesture to move forward with his arrival.
Eli Junior Kroupi's injury has wrecked the Blaugrana's plans because the Bournemouth striker was the 'Plan B'.
The forward has fractured the fifth metatarsal in his foot and will be sidelined for four months.
Now it remains to be seen what Barcelona's plan will be to solve this situation, with Lewandowski out of the club and Ferrán Torres having a chance of moving to PSG.

As we slowly approach the start of the new season, there is much anxiety among Barcelona fans surrounding the attacking department.
The departure of Robert Lewandowski coupled with the potential exit of Ferran Torres means Barcelona are in desperate need of a new centre forward.
But their pursuit of Julian Alvarez has not progressed, with Atletico Madrid still determined not to sell their star player to a direct rival.
All eyes on Alvarez's future. (Photo by Angel Martinez/Getty Images)
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will exhaust every possible avenue to bring Alvarez to the club, though they will not go beyond the €100 million already offered.

This comes after the Argentine went public with his desire to depart the Metropolitano amid interest from La Liga rivals Barcelona.

Desperate to secure a Camp Nou switch, Alvarez therefore confirmed whilst on international duty that:
"I spoke with people at the club, with those I had to speak with and the best thing for everyone is a transfer. I want to fulfil my dream."

Robert Lewandowski wanted to remain at Barcelona for another season, and club president Joan Laporta was equally keen for him to stay.
That is according to the striker's agent, Pini Zahavi, who explained the circumstances behind Lewandowski's departure in an interview with Sebastian Staszewski for SportoweFakty (via SPORT).
Zahavi discussed the reasons behind the forward's exit, the offers he received and why he ultimately chose to continue his career in Major League Soccer.
He also suggested that Lewandowski could one day return to Barcelona in a different role, following a conversation with Laporta.
Zahavi, who maintains a close relationship with the Barcelona president, revealed that Laporta was eager for Lewandowski to remain at the club.

As Lionel Messi takes a post-World Cup break after Argentina's loss in the final to Spain, big-name newcomers Antoine Griezmann and Robert Lewandowski are thrust into the spotlight as Major League Soccer has returned to action following an extensive summertime hiatus.
On Wednesday, July 22, after Lewandowski went scoreless in 63 minutes played in his debut for the Chicago Fire in a 3-2 loss to the Messi-less Inter Miami, Griezmann's MLS debut could not have gone much better. Griezmann — a World Cup winner with France in 2018 — scored his first MLS goal three minutes into the second half of Orlando City's 4-0 rout of the San Jose Earthquakes.
On Saturday, July 25, Lewandowski will look to score his first MLS goal when the Chicago Fire hit the road again to take on New York City FC at Yankee Stadium, while Griezmann and Orlando City take on the leaders in the Supporters' Shield race, Nashville SC.

Bayern Munich star striker Harry Kane could be on the verge of a contract extension after there was some speculation that the Englishman might be enticed by FC Barcelona's project or a mega-deal from Al-Hilal:
Harry Kane is set to sign a new contract at Bayern Munich, GIVEMESPORT understands. Talks will resume this summer after productive discussions earlier in the year.
Bayern are relaxed about Kane's future despite links with other clubs. Kane had a €65million release clause, active in January, but specifically for this summer. It needed to be triggered last winter if Kane wanted to leave during this window.
Barcelona had an enquiry following the departure of Robert Lewandowski and are under the impression Kane will remain in Germany. He is settled both on and off the field.
GMS can also reveal Al-Hilal have made an approach this summer to understand Kane's situation.

Former Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has on Thursday sent a message of congratulations the way of some of his ex-teammates in Catalunya's capital.

Luis da la Fuente's ranks were packed with Barcelona players, with all of Joan García, Eric García, Pau Cubarsí, Pedri, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres having made the trip to North America.
The latter even notched the decisive goal in Sunday's final.
Spotted celebrating in the aftermath of Ferran's extra-time strike in New York was the aforementioned Robert Lewandowski, fresh off bringing a close to his Blaugrana stint earlier this summer.

Barcelona signed forward Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund on Thursday for a reported fee of 29 million euros ($33 million) including potential add-ons.
"Adeyemi becomes a new Barca player for the next five seasons, until June 30, 2031," said Barcelona in a statement.
The versatile 24-year-old is Barca's second signing after they splashed out on England international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle.
Lightning quick, Adeyemi, who can play up front or on either flank, bolsters Barca's attacking options after the departure of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.
Barcelona also lost Marcus Rashford after his loan from Manchester United ended, leaving them short in attack.

Luis Suarez scored twice and Preston Plambeck grabbed a late winner as Inter Miami, without Lionel Messi, beat Chicago Fire 3-2 on Wednesday to spoil Robert Lewandowski's Major League Soccer debut.
Uruguayan veteran Suarez captained Miami with Messi and fellow Argentine Rodrigo de Paul missing four days after Argentina lost 1-0 to Spain in the World Cup final.
The 37-year-old Poland striker Lewandowski was making his MLS debut having signed from Barcelona after they were crowned Spanish champions.
Prolific goalscorer Lewandowski, who also starred for Bayern Munich from 2014-2022 and has more than 700 goals for club and country, started for Chicago and played 63 minutes.
But it was 20-year-old Plambeck, a product of Miami's youth system, who emerged as the unlikely hero, coming off the bench to score the 87th-minute winner.

Robert Lewandowski didn't score in his Major League Soccer debut with the Chicago Fire, but he did get a first-hand look at a very MLS moment.
That fútbol follies moment came courtesy of Inter Miami goalkeeper Rocco Ríos Novo, who whiffed on a back pass from defender Ian Fray and the ball went into the back of his own net for an embarrassing own goal in the 18th minute.

The United States' wild and often-unpredictable domestic league was back in full action on Wednesday, July 22, and to be fair, many of these athletes haven't played in a game in seven weeks, so there's bound to be some rust. Still, this looked very much like some ill-fated schoolyard kid trying their luck at kickball for the first time.

MIAMI (AP) — Preston Plambeck scored his first career goal in MLS in the 87th minute, Luis Suárez scored two goals, and Inter Miami beat Chicago 3-2 on Wednesday night to spoil Robert Lewandowski's debut for the Fire.
Miami (10-2-4) has won five straight.
Suárez scored three goals, his first hat trick in MLS since 2024, in Miami's last game before the World Cup break, a 6-4 win over Philadelphia.
Suárez had his shot from the center of the area parried by goalkeeper Chris Brady but Plambeck slammed home the rebound.
The Fire took a 1-0 lead on an own goal by goalkeeper Rocco Ríos Novo in the 18th minute. Miami defender Ian Fray played slow, rolling ball to Ríos Novo, but the ball slipped through the goalkeeper's legs as he whiffed on an attempted first-touch pass.

Ferran Torres’s future at Barcelona is looking increasingly uncertain amid growing interest in the forward following his World Cup heroics and the club’s reluctance to offer an extension just yet.
The Shark scored the winner in the World Cup final and has admirers in PSG, Real Madrid and Liverpool this summer, if the rumor mill is to be believed.
PSG certainly appear a realistic destination, with the club having presented a very attractive offer that has made Ferran have doubts over staying at Barcelona, according to Sport.
The report adds that Torres has also been hurt by the fact that Barca have never seriously considered him as first choice for the No. 9 spot following Robert Lewandowski’s departure.
Barcelona do want Ferran to stay but aren’t thinking about changes to his salary or his role in the squad and are now waiting to hear the World Cup winner’s thoughts on his future.

Barcelona have been looking for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski all summer, and Julian Alvarez has been their number one priority.
The Argentine striker, however, has seen his move to Catalonia complicated significantly by his current club Atletico Madrid who continue to resist negotiating with Barcelona.
Alvarez has been pushing to join only Barcelona, but the Blaugrana are also aware that they cannot wait for the Argentine star forever. On that front, they have identified Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi as their plan B.
As reported by Diario AS in a recent report, however, Barcelona's idea of keeping Kroupi as a backup option may not work out much longer as the player is firmly in the orbit of several other top clubs as a priority signing.

Barcelona have already made moves for Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi this summer. The former’s transfer has been made official and the latter is expected to complete the formalities in the coming days.
Needless to say, Hansi Flick is going all out to strengthen the forward line ahead of next season, and the arrivals have been direct replacements for existing profiles.
Gordon arrived in place of Marcus Rashford whose continuity the club decided against. Adeyemi, meanwhile is expected to arrive in place of exit-bound Roony Bardghji as a more seasoned option.
Julian Alvarez, meanwhile, remains the primary target to replace Robert Lewandowski who left at the end of last season. Now, Ferran Torres is being linked with a departure to PSG and the club are again looking for replacements.
As relayed earlier this week, Fisnik Asllani is seen as a player who can replace Torres should he leave the club this summer. Mundo Deportivo now provide an update on the same.

Barcelona have used the summer transfer window to completely revamp their attack, and it looks like they are not done yet.
Robert Lewandowski left the club at the end of last season and Marcus Rashford's loan was also not extended, leaving Barça having to sign attackers in the market.
Barça wrapped up a deal for Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon just before the World Cup and have now reached an agreement to sign Karim Adeyemi.
One other player Barcelona have set their sights on is Belgian teenager Jesse Bisiwu. It was reported earlier that the Catalan club had tabled a bid for the 18-year-old.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are preparing to make another bid for Bisiwu after seeing an offer worth around €9 million rejected by Club Brugge.

Barcelona’s summer is taking shape in a way that feels familiar, a few necessary exits, one big attacking obsession and the usual balancing act between ambition and financial reality. The broad picture from The Athletic is clear enough. Barcelona want a new No 9, they are still pushing hardest for Julian Alvarez, and they know movement out of the squad will help determine how much they can really do.
That is the story. The rest is detail, and at Barcelona the detail always matters because the margins are so small. Every sale counts, every salary matters and every major incoming depends on the arithmetic lining up.
The clearest point in the report is that Barcelona’s centre-forward search revolves around one name. “The biggest goal is to bring in a new No 9 to replace Robert Lewandowski following his move to MLS side Chicago Fire.” That is the priority, and the club’s preferred answer has not changed. “Alvarez still remains their top priority and there is the expectation that Barca make another move after his participation at the World Cup.”
Photo IMAGO
There is another revealing quote in the report, and it came directly from Joan Laporta. He admitted Barcelona’s interest in the Argentina forward and said they sent a verbal proposal to Atletico Madrid which was rejected “because they had no replacement lined up”. Then he added: “That offer will stand from our end, but it won’t remain forever. Atletico know what our intentions are. There is an offer, Atletico have it and if there is an option to speak about it we would happily do it.”

Replacing Robert Lewandowski has become one of Barcelona’s biggest priorities, and Hansi Flick appears to have made up his mind about who should lead the club’s attack in the years ahead.
While several names have been discussed internally, the German coach continues to believe that Julian Alvarez is the forward best suited to transform the Blaugrana’s frontline.
Notably, the Argentine remains the club’s first-choice target despite the complexities surrounding negotiations with Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona are prepared to remain patient, convinced that the striker’s qualities and his desire to wear the Blaugrana shirt make the pursuit worth continuing.
In fact, according to Mundo Deportivo, Flick has no doubts about the 26-year-old and remains fully committed to bringing him to Camp Nou this summer.

Tuesday's transfer rumours include Barcelona's stance on Harry Kane and Rafael Leao, and Manchester United's five-man midfield shortlist.
Barcelona have given up hope of landingHarry Kane this summer. The Spanish champions had earmarked Kane as a potential successor to Robert Lewandowski, but have now called it quits in their pursuit.
According to El National Catalonia, Barca believe a move forKane is 'unrealistic'. However, the La Liga champions are confident of landing Rafael Leao. Barca want to sign the AC Milan winger on loan, with a deal of similar structure to the one that brought Marcus Rashford to the Nou Camp last summer. Leao is ready to leave Milan and has talked up La Liga as a potential destination.
After missing out onMateus Fernandes and Elliot Anderson, Manchester United have put together a five-man midfield shortlist of alternatives. Aurelien Tchouameni and Alex Scott are the leading names on the list, while the club are also considering approaches Felix Nmecha, Ayoub Bouaddi and Sander Berge.
Free-spending Spurs, meanwhile, are looking to loosen the pursestrings again.CaughtOffside claim that the North Londoners are keen on Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush, and are prepared to rival Juventus, Galatasaray, and Bundesliga sides to get a deal done. City want around £51m for the Egyptian.

Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo has revealed that he would be willing to operate as a striker if required, providing insight into Hansi Flick’s Barcelona plans should the club fail to strengthen their attack this summer.
With the club continuing to pursue Julian Alvarez at Barcelona as their preferred reinforcement in the forward line, questions remain over who could eventually replace Robert Lewandowski in the long term.
According to Olmo, however, the squad already possesses enough quality and versatility to cope if a new signing does not arrive.
The debate surrounding a potential Robert Lewandowski replacement has intensified in recent months, particularly with Barcelona actively exploring the transfer market.
On that note, Barcelona’s striker situation took centre stage, with the attacking midfielder admitting that he would have no concerns about featuring in a more advanced role.

However, circumstances could eventually force a change in stance.
Notably, the Argentine striker has already communicated his desire to seek a new challenge, while Barcelona continue to view him as their preferred option to lead the attack in the post-Robert Lewandowski era.

Barcelona have made a transfer offer for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, the Catalan club's president Joan Laporta said Wednesday.
The Spanish champions are aiming to sign the Argentina international to replace departed striker Robert Lewandowski, who joined MLS side Chicago Fire this week.
Barca have been heavily linked with Alvarez in recent months and, after being sworn in as Barca chief following his reelection in March, Laporta said they have made an offer for the 26-year-old.
"(Barca sporting director) Deco made an offer for a certain amount of money -- we know the player has wanted to come for some time, since he was at (Manchester) City," Laporta told reporters.
"(Atletico) said in principle, they weren't planning to sell him, because they didn't have an alternative. The offer is firm and we'll keep it on the table until we consider otherwise suitable."

The soccer world was rocked on Monday when long-standing rumors linking Polish legend Robert Lewandowski, a free agent after his time at Barcelona came to an end, proved true.
The 37-year-old 10-time Bundesliga, three-time La Liga, and UEFA Champions League winner was announced as the latest acquisition of Gregg Berhalter’s Chicago Fire, joining through the 2027-2028 season.
Labeled “A Defining Moment in Chicago Sports” by his new team upon announcing his signing, it seems his wife of 13 years, with whom he has two daughters, Anna Lewandowska, was somewhat less thrilled about the announcement.

England striker Harry Kane is still expected to sign a new contact at Bayern Munich despite recent contact from Barcelona.
Barca have recently made an enquiry and expressed their interest in his services but have been told any decision on his future will only be made after the World Cup.
According to The Athletic, Kane will not be swayed by Barca’s interest and “is likely” to sign a new contract at Bayern and prolong his stay with the Bavarian giants.
Kane has emerged as a potential option for Barcelona after Robert Lewandowski’s departure at the end of the season.
Julian Alvarez remains the club’s top target but it is still not known if Barcelona will be able to agree a deal with Atletico for the Argentina international.

Barcelona are on the lookout for a new striker who can fill the huge boots left behind by legendary Polish forward Robert Lewandowski.
The 37-year-old forward left Barça at the end of last season upon the expiry of his contract and is now set to move to MLS to play for Chicago Fire.
To replace him, it does look like the Catalan club have set their sights on Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez, but recent links to Harry Kane have also emerged.
However, according to SPORT, Kane is not currently an option for Barcelona. They did make an enquiry for the Englishman but were told he does not want to leave Bayern this summer.
That has stopped the interest for now. Barcelona may admire Kane’s quality, experience and goalscoring record, but there is no active operation if the player is not open to a move.
