On Tuesday, Vogel, 70, released a statement remembering her daughter and reflecting on her career. "I think Hayden was an amazingly talented person in so many departments, and I think young people who grow up in the entertainment industry — it is a struggle, and it's a very challenging industry, and it's not unusual for them to sadly find the wrong path," Vogel told NBC News on Tuesday.

Megyn Kelly is weighing in following the death of Hayden Panettiere.
Kelly took to her eponymous podcast on Monday, August 17, following the news of Hayden's death at 36, to speculate on the circumstances surrounding her passing.
"I am not surprised to read the news about Hayden Panettiere at all. I am sad. I lament the loss of this young woman, but I don't think it is a pattern we are ever going to correct for because there will always be parents who shove their child into the entertainment industry at too young and too precarious an age and don't have the skills or the desire to rescue them from the fallout that inevitably comes," Kelly, 55, said.
As In Touch previously reported, Hayden was ******* ounced dead after Greenville, South Carolina, officials responded to a 911 call on Sunday, August 16. According to audio obtained by People from the dispatch call on Sunday, responders were called to the apartment after a report of an apparent overdose and cardiac arrest. The Greenville Police Department is investigating the cause of death of the Remember the ******* ans star.
Kelly continued to point the finger at Hayden's parents, Lesley Vogel and Alan "Skip" Lee Panettiere, calling them "enablers" in the years following her rise to fame, with the actress — who shared daughter Kaya, 11, with her ex-fiancé Wladimir Klitschko — admitting to suffering from both postpartum depression and substance abuse over the last decade. Hayden also struggled following the death of her younger brother, Jansen Panettiere, who died in February 2023 at the age of 28 due to an undiagnosed heart condition.

Hayden Panettiere, who has died at the age of 36, lived most of her life in the spotlight - from success as a child star to lead roles in hit TV shows Heroes and Nashville - but also endured struggles that went along with the pressures of fame.
Panettiere appeared in her first commercial when she was 11 months old. Her mother Lesley Vogel was an actress and set her daughter on the same path.
By the age of four, Hayden was in US TV show One Life to Live, then at eight joined another soap opera, Guiding Light.
Her natural acting ability was evident, but the burgeoning childhood career came at a cost.
"From a very young age, I lost the chance to have a normal childhood, friends, relationships, and my privacy," Panettiere wrote in her revealing autobiography, This Is Me, which was published earlier this year.

Triston Casas' Long Road Back Takes Another Unwelcome Turn originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Just when it appeared Triston Casas' injury luck could not become much worse, the Boston Red Sox first baseman encountered another frustrating setback. The Red Sox announced Thursday that Casas underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure on his left wrist. Dr. Matthew Leibman performed the procedure at Newton-Wellesley Surgery Center in Wellesley, Mass. Boston did not immediately provide a recovery timetable, but the surgery likely ends any realistic hope of Casas returning during the 2026 regular season.
It represents another difficult turn for a talented hitter who has not appeared in a major league game in more than 15 months.
Casas last played for Boston on May 2, 2025, when he ruptured the patellar tendon in his left knee while running through first base against the Minnesota Twins. The gruesome injury required surgery and ended his season after only 29 games. Casas finished 2025 batting .182 with three home runs, 11 RBIs and a .580 OPS.
He spent the offseason rehabilitating his knee and hoped to rejoin the Red Sox early in 2026. Instead, a left abdominal strain suffered during his ramp-up delayed his return again. Manager Alex Cora said in April that the abdominal injury would keep Casas out "a while" and force him to restart much of his baseball progression. Casas eventually resumed working toward a return before wrist discomfort shut down his hitting program in July.

They came. They saw. They coned.
The Tartan Army's coronation of statues in Boston baffled locals and global audiences alike, however the practice has divided opinion at home.
Monuments across the country have now received the treatment usually reserved for the Duke of Wellington in Glasgow.
But is this the last throes of World Cup fever? Or is the Scotland faithful's new calling card here to stay?
The coning of the Duke, Arthur Wellesley, outside the Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), is thought to have been started by students returning home from nights out in the 1980s.

One of Jeffrey Epstein's longtime ***** istants told members of the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday morning that she did not know about the late convicted ***** offender's crimes, describing him as a master manipulator who had every reason to keep them a secret from her, according to two sources familiar with the testimony.
As a way to try to demonstrate her ignorance about Epstein's wrongdoing, Lesley Groff, Epstein's former executive ***** istant, said she believed the massage appointments she made for Epstein with young women and girls were with massage therapists, the sources said.
Groff is one of the most notable members of the late financier's inner orbit to speak to Congress as part of its Epstein investigation — a ubiquitous ***** istant who helped manage every aspect of Epstein's life from appointments with women to meetings with powerful individuals, as evidenced in the Justice Department's millions of Epstein files.
She told lawmakers Tuesday that she was not ***** ually abused by Epstein, one of the sources said. She also did not need her job with Epstein, she said, and both Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell told Groff that she should not ***** ociate with their friends and colleagues and insisted their business was none of hers.
Groff, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight, also told members that she wants to be helpful to them, and that since Epstein's arrest, she's been shunned by friends and her family has been harassed.

Veteran "60 Minutes" correspondent Scott Pelley called CBS leadership as incompetent and inexperienced in an emotional interview after he was fired from the storied broadcast. Pelley alleges editor-in-chief Bari Weiss directed his team to make ICE protestors look more violent, saying, "There was a thumb on the scale for the president's version of events that I felt was a level of political influence that I have never seen in 37 years at CBS News." The three remaining correspondents, Lesley Stahl, Bill Whitaker and Jon Wertheim, issued a joint statement saying they're staying with the program. NBC's Erin McLaughlin reports for TODAY.

Theatre's biggest night is here again! The 79th annual Tony Awards return to Radio City Music Hall tonight in New York City, where the biggest shows on Broadway will be celebrated with an evening full of music, dance, and drama.
For the first time ever, pop singer P!nk is serving as host, but this isn't her first time being connected to the theatre world. In the past, her hits have been featured in jukebox musicals like Moulin Rouge! The Musical and & Juliet. "Broadway has shaped my life and how I put my own shows together—it is a community that is supportive and inclusive, and full of talent and love," she said in a statement. "These people give magic every single day, and I cannot wait to celebrate them with the entire world."
At the 2026 ceremony, some of the biggest nominees include Rose Byrne for Fallen Angels, Daniel Radcliffe for Every Brilliant Thing, and Carrie ***** for Bug. Other starry names up for a Tony include Nathan Lane, John Lithgow, Lesley Manville, Stephanie Hsu, Christopher Abbott, and June Squibb.
Two musicals lead the nominations this year, each with 12 nods. The first is The Lost Boys, an adaptation of the 1987 comedy-horror film of the same name, along with Schmigadoon!, a reimagining of the musical Apple TV+ series that premiered in 2021. Close behind is the newest revival of Ragtime.
You can stream the 2026 Tony Awards on Paramount+ or watch it live on CBS, beginning at 8 p.m. EST. However, before that all begins, we'll have our eyes locked on the stream of stars hitting the carpet.

Longtime "60 Minutes" correspondents Lesley Stahl, Bill Whitaker and Jon Wertheim have decided to stay with the program following a wave of high-profile firings, while warning in a joint statement to colleagues that "newsrooms are not supposed to be run like dictatorships."
The trio of veteran journalists admitted they are still "deeply upset" by the recent shakeups at the program. The past two weeks have seen the firings of several top correspondents and producers from the venerated show.
"We have had a hard time deciding whether to stay," the group wrote, ultimately noting that they chose to remain with the embattled newsmagazine because they "don't want to see '60 Minutes' die."
The long-running program has faced significant upheaval following the firings of producers Tanya Simon and Draggan Mihailovich, correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega, among others. This week, Scott Pelley was terminated a day after he exploded on network leadership at a meeting with new "60 Minutes" executive producer Nick Bilton.

For years, Hayden Panettiere's story was told through tabloids, blind items, paparazzi photos and internet speculation — often before she had the chance to tell it herself. Now 36, the Nashville and Heroes alum is reclaiming the narrative in her new memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning.
Released Tuesday, the book chronicles Panettiere's experiences with exploitation, addiction, postpartum depression and domestic abuse. But the conversation around the book began weeks earlier, as stories from it started landing on celebrity websites and clips from interviews — including a widely shared appearance on Jay Shetty's podcast — took over TikTok.
The memoir didn't just reopen painful chapters. It brought old conflicts back to the surface.
Her estranged mother, Lesley Vogel, issued a scathing rebuttal. Ex-boyfriend Brian Hickerson responded publicly. Internet speculation exploded around unnamed figures in some of the book's more disturbing stories.
"There will always be somebody who has a problem with something or an opinion about something," she tells Yahoo of the reactions.
