KRAMATORSK, Ukraine, July 22 (Reuters) - Serhii Krynitskyi watched the life seep out of the only man who had shared his living ****** .
He and his comrade had survived nearly a year together in a foxhole on the front lines. They'd killed Russian soldiers and scavenged for food among the dead. They'd argued and laughed, amidst the horror.
Now, Krynitskyi was alone.
The Ukrainian soldier aimed his phone camera at his companion's lifeless body, wedged inside the dugout. One blood-stained leg was exposed. An artery sliced open by shrapnel from a bomb dropped by a drone. He bled and bled.

BOSTON, July 21 (Reuters) - A federal judge on Tuesday temporarily blocked President Donald Trump's administration from stripping tens of thousands of asylum seekers and immigrants who have Temporary Protected Status of their ability to work in the United States.
U.S. District Judge Nathaniel Gorton in Boston sided with a coalition of immigrant rights groups and labor unions that sued to block U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services from moving forward with a series of policies designed to implement new immigration-related restrictions enacted by Congress last year.
Gorton's order will be in place until he decides whether to issue a longer-term pause of the Trump administration's policy. The judge said he would rule on that by August 5. USCIS did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A ship ran aground in the Strait of Hormuz while using a route not approved by Iran, state television in Tehran reported Wednesday. The vessel was identified as a foreign container ship, with no other details.
The report appeared aimed at underlining Tehran's claims to control the strait, which the world has long considered an international waterway. It saw a fifth of all oil and natural gas pass through it in peacetime.
Iran has used its ability to choke off the waterway as a key source of leverage since the war began, disrupting global markets for energy and other critical goods.
The report came as U.S. Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law, were in Doha, Qatar, for talks over reaching a permanent end to the Iran war. Iran's top negotiator, Kazem Gharibabadi, traveled to Qatar with a team as well.
Technical talks between diplomats began Wednesday in Qatar, said two regional officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the closed-door discussions. Negotiators aim to nail down specifics to pave the way for top leaders to seal an agreement, though differences over the strait and Lebanon loom large.

WASHINGTON – The federal judge who ordered President Donald Trump's name removed from the Kennedy Center has asked the administration to report by June 19 on plans for the Kennedy Center to remain open with public events during a renovation project.
The administration had announced the center would close July 4 for two years for $250 million in renovations. But in addition to removing Trump's name from the iconic arts center, U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper blocked the administration's plan to "wind-down" or "close" programming activities entirely.
Cooper asked for plans "for public access and ongoing programming, activities, and operations after July 5, 2026."
