The 34-year-old won the UEFA Champions League and two Premier League crowns during nine seasons on Merseyside, announcing in March 2026 that he would be leaving the club after this season. A number of teams around the world hoped to bring the Egypt star in on a free transfer, but it is Trabzonspor that looks set to win the race.
The club announced it is in negotiations with the player, as is required by Turkish law and generally indicates a signing is all but complete. It also posted a teaser video on social media and let fans know when Salah is expected to touch down at Istanbul's Atatürk Airport before connecting and heading for the northeast Turkey city off the Black Sea.
Before joining Liverpool, Salah had stops with FC Basel, Chelsea, Fiorentina and Roma. He has long been the star player on Egypt's national team, though the African Cup of Nations has eluded the Pharaohs during his tenure.
Now, it looks like he will close out his career in Turkey - or at least spend the next few seasons with Trabzonspor.

The Detroit Lions have made another move to stabilize their battered tight end room.
Detroit announced Tuesday that veteran tight end Anthony Firkser has been placed on Reserve/Injured after suffering a broken fibula during Monday's padded practice. The Lions filled his roster spot by signing tight end Zach Horton.
The transaction was expected after Dan Campbell confirmed the extent of Firkser's injury before Tuesday's practice.
Firkser had quickly become a useful piece of Detroit's training camp offense.

A judge's ruling in Colorado last week is making for plenty of chaos across college sports right now, leaving everyone wondering just who exactly will be eligible to play in the school year ahead. Football programs are scrambling to ****** s potential additions with less than a month to go before the season begins, and with fall camp underway already in lots of places.
While the Colorado case has received the bulk of the headlines for granting the high school class of 2022 an extra year, there are in fact quite a few legal cases against the NCAA in progress—so many that the NCAA is trying to consolidate at least some of them.
Among others, there's a significant case in Tennessee unfolding as well. The NCAA is appealing the ruling in Colorado and it's possible that that appeal is successful, so coaches don't exactly have a clear idea about how to proceed with adding to their rosters. I have no idea when we should expect some clarity on the matter, especially with so many other cases pending, but in the meantime, this sure is confusing!

The Baltimore Ravens signed veteran offensive tackle Kendall Lamm following a workout on Monday, per the NFL's daily transaction report, filling the roster spot vacated by Hakeem Adeniji's sudden retirement over the weekend.
Lamm, 34, is entering his 12th NFL season. He spent the last four in Miami with 46 total appearances, including 15 starts in 2023 and 2024. Last year, he appeared in 13 games, but played just seven snaps on offense and 52 on special teams.

Mainz are reportedly prepared to stretch their financial limits to secure the 29-year-old defender.

Playing quarterback in the NFL is the most valuable position in team sports, but every team has a different starting and backup QB, so determining the gap in point-spread value between the two can be an extremely useful tool for bettors.
Put another way: How much would the spread move if Patrick Mahomes was suddenly injured leading up to a game and Justin Fields was forced to be the starter?

There will be no Jadeveon Clowney reunion for the Cleveland Browns.
The former first overall pick and defensive end during the 2021 and 2022 seasons has opted to head back to Houston instead of signing in Cleveland. Clowney has inked a deal with the Texans to end his free agency.
Clowney went on to say that the decision to sign with Houston over Cleveland was an easy one, and not a decision that came down to a dollar figure. Here is what Clowney had to say on returning to the team that once selected him with the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft:
"I've grown up and learned the game a lot more since leaving... I feel like I can help the younger guys. I've learned how to lead and what it takes to get to a Super Bowl. I feel like I can help this team."
Instead of reuniting with Cleveland, the rich get richer in Houston, leaving the Browns still fairly thin behind their two starters. While Jared Verse, a two-time Pro Bowler, and Alex Wright, who just signed a contract extension a year ago, are a solid duo upfront, the depth behind them is lacking.
