One of the things that Luka Doncic's minicamp for his Los Angeles Lakers teammates allowed them to do is visit and explore Doncic's native country of Slovenia. Outside of basketball and training, several activities were planned, including golf, a bicycle race and a rowing session on Lake Bled.
Forward Jarred Vanderbilt apparently liked his experience in Slovenia. In fact, he told a reporter there that he would like to visit the nation again.
"I would love to [return]," Vanderbilt said. "Not gonna lie, I didn't know much about it before I came here, but it's definitely a spot I will revisit."
In fact, Vanderbilt said he wants to obtain a passport.
"I was looking to get my Slovenian passport," he said. "So we'll see. Might be part Slovenian."

Los Angeles Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt might consider a career-changing move after their recent trip to Slovenia to spend time with Luka Doncic.
Doncic invited all his Lakers teammates for the 2026-27 season to his home country of Slovenia, getting to know the players on the massively adjusted roster before a new season.
One of the Lakers players who seemed to have a blast was 27-year-old Vanderbilt, who might be considering a drastic move that a former Lakers teammate made regarding Doncic.
Vanderbilt gave an interview before the Lakers left Slovenia, where he mentioned he is trying to get a Slovenian passport.
"It was amazing… The trip was great. I would love to (come back to Slovenia)… I'm looking to get a Slovenian passport. We'll see. Might be part Slovenian."

Lakers expected to not waive $48M defensive menace over Bronny James, Dalton Knecht, Jaden Hardy originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Los Angeles Lakers find themselves in an interesting position, as they are currently one roster spot over the league's limit. They do have some time to make a cut or complete a trade to create the necessary ***** e.
It is simply a matter of what circumstances become available to them over the next month. Several names have been mentioned as potential roster casualties, and it appears the list has been narrowed down to three.
"Clearly, the Lakers need to dump someone, and I think it's going to be one of three players," Lakers insider Jovan Buha said. "It's going to either be Dalton Knecht, Jaden Hardy, or Bronny James."
LA has tried to make a trade that would free up a roster spot, but nothing has come to fruition yet. Jarred Vanderbilt and Dalton Knecht have been on the trade block throughout the summer.

The Cincinnati Bearcats men's basketball team has released its full non-conference schedule for the remainder of 2026, with Big 12 games taking over in 2027.
The slate is highlighted by the unique opener vs. Ohio State at the Lindner Tennis Center in Mason Oct. 7 which will be part of doubleheader with Xavier and Dayton. The season opener is Nov. 2 against American University at Fifth Third Arena and a week later on Nov. 9, UC will host Minnesota of the Big Ten, the team that christened the arena in 1989 when UC won on a last-second 3-pointer from Steve Sanders.
On Nov. 14, UC travels to UD Arena for the Dayton Flyers, the same date the football Bearcats are at Iowa State.

The Texas Rangers scored two runs but the Anaheim Angels scored three runs.
The Rangers had two paths they could take tonight. They could win tonight's game and inch a smidge further from being a .500 ballclub or they could lose and be right back at .500. It's pretty easy to guess which direction they took.
Despite leading 1-0 just three pitches into the game against a starter with a 7+ ERA on the year, the Rangers only scored one more run all game against a team so broken half their pitching staff have like single-digit big league careers and the entire pitching coaching staff was just fired.
The Rangers had plenty of chances to score, and indeed eight opportunities with RISP, but capitalized on just one of them when they had to send in Jarred Kelenic to pinch hit, a guy they didn't think was as good as Jonah Bride like four days ago.
Despite leadoff man Joc Pederson reaching in each one of his PAs tonight, Wyatt Langford and Corey Seager went a combined 0-for-8 with several missed chances to plate runs. When the Angels got a runner on from the bottom of their lineup, the top of the order capitalized and that was ultimately the difference.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Zach Neto had an RBI single and scored during the Angels' three-run third inning, and Los Angeles snapped its three-game skid with a 3-2 victory over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.
Nolan Schanuel and Vaughn Grissom also drove in runs during the only scoring rally by the MLB-worst Halos, who won for just the fourth time in 14 games.
Joc Pederson hit his seventh leadoff homer of the season and Jarred Kelenic drove in his first run since May 15 for the Rangers, who lost for only the second time in seven games.
Cody Bradford (0-1) pitched seven innings of five-hit ball for Texas in his second start since returning from elbow surgery, which had sidelined him since 2024.
Ryan Johnson pitched three-hit ball into the fifth inning for the Angels, striking out five. Reliever José Fermin (4-2) got four outs, and rookie Samy Natera pitched the ninth for his third save.

Lakers' $7M historic 3-and-D guard not expected to be waived over Dalton Knecht, Jarred Vanderbilt originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Los Angeles Lakers are still trying to get things done this summer to bolster their roster even further. LA has done a nice job of acquiring former Utah Jazz center Walker Kessler and getting a deal done to bring back Austin Reaves.
Now, after all of the additions, the Lakers sit one player above the allowed roster limit. They will have to make a decision before the end of training camp.
"There are, however, obvious holes. With 16 roster spots, the Lakers would need to get rid of at least one player, though they can carry as many as 20 through training camp in October," Heavy.com's Sean Deveney wrote.
There is a consensus that one of four players could be waived by the organization if no trade is made. Dalton Knecht, Bronny James, Jaden Hardy, and Jarred Vanderbilt are all possible options. However, James appears to be the only safe player of the group as of now.

Lakers predicted to trade $7M historic guard for ex-Warriors NBA champion Jonathan ******* inga originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Los Angeles Lakers are still searching for their fifth starter, as the process of finding their next power forward has been more complicated than expected. Los Angeles has been heavily pursuing NBA champion Jonathan ******* inga to fill that role.
The former Golden State Warriors forward has developed a reputation for being difficult to negotiate with, but the Lakers have remained aggressive and have already put an offer on the table.
"The Lakers have offered Jonathan ******* inga a contract via sign-and-trade that would pay him around $45 million. Los Angeles is willing to send Jarred Vanderbilt alongside draft capital to the Hawks for ******* inga, who must sign at least a three-year deal in sign-and-trade agreements," NBA reporter Evan Sidery wrote.
A deal for ******* inga would almost certainly need to come through a sign-and-trade, with the biggest question being which players Los Angeles would need to include. Lake Show Life's Tyler Watts believes Bronny James could become part of a potential trade package.

We've reached the point in the offseason where the rumors are more speculation about what will happen as we get closer to the start of training camp — or once camp opens — than they are about things that might happen in the near future. With that framing in mind, here are the latest rumors flying around the NBA — and some advice from Chris Bosh to Victor Wembanyama.
The problem is pretty straightforward: The Dallas Mavericks have 16 players under guaranteed contracts but can only carry 15 into the season. Someone has to be traded or waived.
Klay Thompson and his $17.5 million contract are at the forefront of that, reports Christian Clark of The Athletic.
The Mavericks have explored his trade market but have yet to find a deal, multiple sources with rival teams told The Athletic on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss any potential negotiations... My understanding is that Thompson would welcome a return to Los Angeles, where he spent part of his childhood and still owns a home. The Miami Heat are another team frequently mentioned in NBA circles as a potential landing spot for the future Hall of Famer."
Los Angeles? The Lakers are an unlikely landing spot, unless the Mavericks want two years of Jarred Vanderbilt plus another contract (Dalton Knecht?), but the Lakers have 16 guaranteed contracts on the roster and are hard-capped at the first apron, so they can't take on a lot of salary. The Clippers remain in limbo until the Kawhi Leonard/Aspiration investigation comes to its eventual conclusion — which may well be into the start of the season, or even 2027 — and the fit isn't great anyway.

Lakers predicted to trade Jarred Vanderbilt, major draft capital for $88M Luka Doncic rim runner originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to continue what has already been a successful offseason after making several major acquisitions during free agency. Los Angeles immediately made a splash by acquiring Walker Kessler in a trade to begin the summer.
Now, the Lakers are looking to add more depth, whether that means finding another backup center behind Kessler or strengthening the power forward position.
"The Lakers are still monitoring the market for big men, team sources told The Athletic," The Athletic's Dan Woike reported. "They traded for Walker Kessler and signed Kevon Looney to play center, and Mamukelashvili can play the position, too. The team could address the position either by trade or signing, like with potentially adding Thybulle. The roster is currently at full capacity."
Los Angeles has several trade ***** ets it could use to improve the roster. One name the Lakers have reportedly been looking to move throughout the summer is veteran forward Jarred Vanderbilt.

Jonathan ******* inga's free agency has become less about finding a contract and more about choosing a direction. Just when the Los Angeles Lakers appeared to have positioned themselves as the frontrunner with a concrete sign-and-trade proposal, another Western Conference contender entered the picture.
This time, it's the Minnesota Timberwolves, whose reported interest has added a fresh layer of uncertainty to one of the NBA's longest-running offseason sagas.
The latest development came from NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, who reported that the Timberwolves have shown interest in Jonathan ******* inga. The update arrives after the team missed out on signing LeBron James, with many reports heavily linking them.
At the same time, or around then, another report surfaced, revealing the Lakers' latest push. According to NBA insider Evan Sidery, the Lakers have offered Jonathan ******* inga a three-year, roughly $45 million contract via a sign-and-trade. The offer also includes Jarred Vanderbilt and draft compensation headed to the Atlanta Hawks.
The proposal would pay JK around $15 million annually, bringing the Lakers closer to the financial range that has gradually emerged as his realistic market.

Rangers release former top-five prospect amid continued MLB struggles originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Jarred Kelenic is a free agent once again.
According to Jeff Wilson of DLLS Sports, the Texas Rangers released the former top prospect on Sunday, ending Kelenic's time with the Rangers organization after less than two months.
After being designated for ******* ignment by the Chicago White Sox in May and signing a minor league deal with Texas on June 2, the 27-year-old outfielder earned a promotion to the Rangers' major league roster later that month. He appeared in seven games but recorded just one hit in eight at-bats before being designated for ******* ignment. Kelenic elected free agency and returned to Texas on another minor league contract.
The release does not appear to be related to performance at the minor league level, as Kelenic was hitting .374 with a 1.105 OPS, 5 home runs, and 11 doubles in 27 games at Round Rock this season. Overall, he has posted a .298/.403/.571 slash line in 227 Triple-A plate appearances so far in 2026. His major league struggles, however, have continued. Between his time with the White Sox and Rangers this season, Kelenic hit .213 with a .539 OPS in 69 plate appearances.

The Los Angeles Lakers have a roster problem. Bronny James, at least for now, does not appear to be their preferred solution.
ESPN’s Dave McMenamin said Thursday on NBA Today that the Lakers must make another move after signing Matisse Thybulle. The addition of the two-time All-Defensive selection left Los Angeles with 16 players on guaranteed standard contracts, one above the regular-season limit.
Although the Lakers can bring as many as 20 players to training camp, they must trade or waive somebody before opening night. McMenamin identified Jarred Vanderbilt, Dalton Knecht and Jaden Hardy as three potential trade candidates.
Bronny was not among them.
His omission does not guarantee his place on the opening-night roster or make him untouchable. But it represents another encouraging sign for the 21-year-old guard following LeBron James’ departure.

Lakers six-player trade proposal gives Los Angeles $88M former Luka Doncic teammate originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
With all of the limited ****** ets the Los Angeles Lakers have, they'd have to get very creative in a trade to improve on both sides of the basketball. Right now, the Lakers have made some impressive moves in the offseason, and I think they'll be a lot better than people are giving them credit for, but I still don't really view them as contenders, especially in a strong Western Conference.
The only way to change that now is for them to make a couple more trades. There are still some okay players on the free-agent market, but certainly not as great as the Lakers need.
That's why the most recent trade proposal involving P.J. Washington, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Portland Trail Blazers, which would involve multiple players, would be the right one on paper.

Mavericks receive: Jrue Holiday, Dalton Knecht
Trail Blazers receive: Klay Thompson, Jarred Vanderbilt, Jake LaRavia

Nearly two weeks into the NBA's free agency period, forward Jonathan ******* inga remains a man without a team. While he has his question marks and concerns, his athleticism and natural ability are undeniable, and the Los Angeles Lakers have been in pursuit of him.
They have been hoping they could land him on a two-year, $20 million contract, per Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times, but that looks unrealistic. There was a report from Khobi Price of the California Post that the Atlanta Hawks, ******* inga's former team, are open to a sign-and-trade where they would acquire forward Jarred Vanderbilt and a future first-round pick swap for the 23-year-old. However, insider Jake Fischer said that Atlanta hasn't considered taking Vanderbilt in such a deal.
Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports wrote that the ******* inga saga may not be resolved until LeBron James chooses his next team, which may not happen for several more days.
"The expectation is that James will decide this week, and that should free up the market for the rest of the top players.
"Among those top players is Jonathan ******* inga, who is still expected to land with the Lakers, though it is a matter of when and how–and how much money he gets. Lakers' $66M promising duo makes shocking Summer League decision amid trade rumors originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been very active this summer as they continue reshaping the roster following LeBron James' announcement that he would not be returning. The first major move came when Los Angeles acquired Walker Kessler in a trade with the Utah Jazz.

Los Angeles Lakers fans should get used to the franchise being involved in informative sign-and-trade rumors with Jonathan ***** inga and the Atlanta Hawks.

Lakers get major Jonathan ******* inga multi-team sign-and trade news originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

According to The Stein Line's Jake Fischer, the franchise's potential Jarred Vanderbilt-focused sign-and-trade with the Atlanta Hawks for former Golden State Warriors lottery pick Jonathan ******* inga may not be limited to just two teams after all.
"It's believed that the Lakers hope to package their lone tradeable first-round pick swap left over in 2032 along with Jarred Vanderbilt in a sign-and-trade proposal for ******* inga," Stein wrote Friday. The Los Angeles Lakers still want free agent forward Jonathan ****** inga, and according to a recent report by Khobi Price of the California Post, ****** inga also wants to join the Lakers. But the math doesn't seem to be mathing for either side.
The Lakers are thought to prefer to give ****** inga a two-year contract for a total of $20 million. They could either clear the requisite salary cap ****** e by trading away a couple of players, such as Jarred Vanderbilt and Dalton Knecht, and not taking any salary back, or they could execute a sign-and-trade with the Atlanta Hawks, the team ****** inga finished this past season with.
But it looks like ****** inga is looking for much more than the Lakers may be able or willing to offer him. During a livestream in Las Vegas, where the NBA's main summer league is being held, insider Jake Fischer revealed the dollar amount ****** inga and his agent are seeking (h/t Heavy Sports).
“I do believe that ****** inga is looking for something more than that $25 million ballpark that he landed last year from Golden State,” Fischer said.

Lakers' Dalton Knecht gets brutal Jonathan **** inga sign-and-trade news months after roster request originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Dalton Knecht was hoping the Los Angeles Lakers would put him out of his misery before the Feb. 5 deadline and trade him to a franchise that would give him the freedom to make mistakes and blossom into a solid player.
Per Offside’s Anthony Irwin, the Tennessee product approached the Lakers’ front office on Jan 28 and requested to be traded after quickly falling out of JJ Redick’s rotation. Unfortunately for Knecht, there wasn’t an organization willing to welcome the former first-round pick with open arms, which explains why he’s still on the roster.

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a busy offseason, even after things started out with a bit of a mild surprise in the form of LeBron James opting to depart from the franchise. However, LeBron's departure left the team with significant salary-cap ******* e, which fueled the trade to acquire big man Walker Kessler, along with several free-agent signings, such as Quentin Grimes and Sandro Mamukelashvili. With the heat of free agency finally cooling down a bit, one final specific move has been a topic of conversation when discussing Laker Land—attempting to add Atlanta Hawks wing Jonathan ******* inga.
The Lakers were also lightly linked to ******* inga before his trade from the Golden State Warriors to the Hawks, and in the prior offseason, when he was a restricted free agent. Just over one week into NBA free agency, the Los Angeles Lakers have filled many of their roster holes. But one — a legitimate starting two-way forward — remains.
The pickings are slim when it comes to filling that hole, but Jonathan **** inga, a 23-year-old forward, remains the one available free agent who has a chance of filling that need at a high level. While **** inga hasn't tapped into a good amount of his potential and has questionable intangibles, his natural ability on both ends of the floor aligns with what the Lakers want and need at the wing or forward spot.
They reportedly met with him last week, but nothing happened. Yet there is reportedly mutual interest between the two parties, according to Khobi Price of the California Post.
The Lakers may lack the salary-cap flexibility to sign **** inga to a satisfactory contract straight-up. But the Atlanta Hawks, the team he finished this past season with, are willing to execute a sign-and-trade, and better yet, they're willing to take Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt, who is seen as a negative contract across the league because of his extreme limitations on offense.
Per Price, the Hawks want the Lakers to include their lone available first-round pick swap to make such a deal happen.
