The Los Angeles Lakers don't have many trade ******* ets, but they do have a player or two they could still move.
One guy who keeps popping up in trade rumors is Jarred Vanderbilt, an athletic wing who isn't much of an offensive player.
Vanderbilt has never been a great shooter, shooting below 30% in three of his four seasons in Los Angeles. He's also dealt with some injury history throughout his career, playing in 29 games in 2023-24 and 36 in 2024-25.
It's tough to find a perfect trade for the Lakers to make involving him because of the limited ******* ets they have to attach to a trade involving him and his contract.

The Los Angeles Lakers experienced a major roster overhaul this summer, replacing LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, and Marcus Smart (among others) with Walker Kessler, Collin **** ton, Quentin Grimes, Kevon Looney, and Sandro Mamukelashvili.
Among the losses, however, backup forward Jarred Vanderbilt was not included, setting the stage for his fourth straight full season with the Purple and Gold. As much as the Lakers have tried to trade Vanderbilt, no teams have answered the call, forcing head coach JJ Redick to begrudgingly accept Vando's return for at least some of the 2026-27 campaign.
"The Lakers have been trying to find a taker for Vanderbilt, but no one has been eager to take on his contract," wrote Heavy's Sean Deveney. "It's possible the Lakers will use him in their rotation, much to JJ Redick's chagrin, and attempt to trade him during the season."
Vanderbilt, 27, was on three different teams before being sent to the Lakers in 2023. Known primarily as a wing defender, he seems like the ideal fit on paper for a Lakers team that has struggled to contain perimeter shooters. With a modest career stat line of 5.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.4 **** ists, 1.0 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game on 54.6% shooting from the field, Vanderbilt has never played a huge role on his teams, but he provides a spark off the bench as a 6'8″ athlete with natural defensive instincts.
Unfortunately, Vanderbilt's flaws as a shooter and scorer have kept him on the fringe of JJ Redick's rotation. With an average of 1.5 three-point attempts on 29.3% shooting per game, he failed to fulfill his role as a three-and-d wing, which made him virtually unplayable in the postseason. Without the confidence or ability to stretch the floor, Vanderbilt becomes more of a liability than anything else. If not for injuries, he might have played significantly less throughout the season, revealing just how much the Lakers value his impact.

MOOSIC, PA(WBRE/WYOU)— The RailRiders pulled to within two games of first place with a 9-2 win on Wednesday night over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre put up four runs in the first inning, never trailing in the win over the I-Pigs.
Jasson Dominguez started the scoring in the first with a single to right field, bringing in Jarred Kelenic. The next batter J.C. Escarra continued the hit parade with a single to shallow right. That brought in Anthony Volpe, putting runners on the corners for Marco Luciano. The SWB second baseman drove a ball to the wall to bring in Dominguez. One of the things that Luka Doncic's minicamp for his Los Angeles Lakers teammates allowed them to do is visit and explore Doncic's native country of Slovenia. Outside of basketball and training, several activities were planned, including golf, a bicycle race and a rowing session on Lake Bled.
Forward Jarred Vanderbilt apparently liked his experience in Slovenia. In fact, he told a reporter there that he would like to visit the nation again.
"I would love to [return]," Vanderbilt said. "Not gonna lie, I didn't know much about it before I came here, but it's definitely a spot I will revisit."
In fact, Vanderbilt said he wants to obtain a passport.
"I was looking to get my Slovenian passport," he said. "So we'll see. Might be part Slovenian."

Anna Faris has opened up about the difficult conversations she has with her 14-year-old son, Jack — whom she shares with her ex, Chris Pratt — about religion.
Jurassic World star Pratt, 47, is among the few Hollywood A-listers who have spoken openly about their Christian faith. He and Faris, 49, married in 2009 and welcomed Jack in 2012 before divorcing in 2017.
"[Jack] is religious. I didn't grow up with religion. He's asked me to accept Jesus Christ [as my savior]," Faris said of her son on Chelsea Handler's Dear Chelsea podcast this week.
"And I told him I would do anything for him, including this, but it's going to take a whole lot of long conversations."
Faris described Jack as "solid as a tugboat emotionally" and "doesn't get easily jarred," which means she is able to "challenge him."

The Cincinnati Bearcats men's basketball team has released its full non-conference schedule for the remainder of 2026, with Big 12 games taking over in 2027.
The slate is highlighted by the unique opener vs. Ohio State at the Lindner Tennis Center in Mason Oct. 7 which will be part of doubleheader with Xavier and Dayton. That will be an exhibition and the Bearcats will also face national semifinalist Illinois Oct. 17 at Fifth Third Arena in another exhibition.
The Illini are No. 5 on the early 2026 KenPom rankings and finished No. 5 in last year's AP poll. Like UC's Jarred Calhoun, Illinois coach Brad Underwood was a former Bob Huggins ******* istant (at Kansas State).

The Texas Rangers scored two runs but the Anaheim Angels scored three runs.
The Rangers had two paths they could take tonight. They could win tonight's game and inch a smidge further from being a .500 ballclub or they could lose and be right back at .500. It's pretty easy to guess which direction they took.
Despite leading 1-0 just three pitches into the game against a starter with a 7+ ERA on the year, the Rangers only scored one more run all game against a team so broken half their pitching staff have like single-digit big league careers and the entire pitching coaching staff was just fired.
The Rangers had plenty of chances to score, and indeed eight opportunities with RISP, but capitalized on just one of them when they had to send in Jarred Kelenic to pinch hit, a guy they didn't think was as good as Jonah Bride like four days ago.

According to Jeff Wilson of DLLS Sports, the Texas Rangers released the former top prospect on Sunday, ending Kelenic's time with the Rangers organization after less than two months.
After being designated for ******* ignment by the Chicago White Sox in May and signing a minor league deal with Texas on June 2, the 27-year-old outfielder earned a promotion to the Rangers' major league roster later that month. He appeared in seven games but recorded just one hit in eight at-bats before being designated for ******* ignment. Kelenic elected free agency and returned to Texas on another minor league contract.
The release does not appear to be related to performance at the minor league level, as Kelenic was hitting .374 with a 1.105 OPS, 5 home runs, and 11 doubles in 27 games at Round Rock this season. Overall, he has posted a .298/.403/.571 slash line in 227 Triple-A plate appearances so far in 2026. His major league struggles, however, have continued. According to Heavy's Sean Deveney, the ex-Golden State Warriors NBA champion could find himself securing a three-year deal or better with Los Angeles via sign-and-trade (Jarred Vanderbilt and a 2032 pick swap would have to be featured in the deal, but the Lakers might have to locate another team willing to take Vanderbilt off their hands, per The Stein Line's Jake Fischer).
Interestingly, though, Deveney noted that the free agent market likely won't improve until former Los Angeles Lakers phenomenon LeBron James chooses his next destination.
"The expectation is that James will decide this week, and that should free up the market for the rest of the top players," Deveney wrote Sunday. "Among those top players is Jonathan ***** inga, who is still expected to land with the Lakers, though it is a matter of when and how–and how much money he gets."
