To make room for Fried on the active roster, the Yanks designated righty reliever Justin Topa for ******* ignment. Topa tossed a scoreless relief inning in Saturday's opener.
Also on Saturday, the Yankees signed lefty-hitting outfielder Jarred Kelenic and ******* igned him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
