The Netflix lineup for next month's 49ers-Rams game has been finalized.
Netflix announced on Monday that Nick Foles and Clay Matthews will join the studio show for the Week 1 game in Australia, along with host Elle Duncan and ****** yst Michael Irvin.
While the announcement focuses only on the first game, it's possible if not likely that Foles and Matthews will be back for the other four 2026 Netflix games. Duncan has said that Netflix will have a consistent studio presence for all of its games this season.
Working the 49ers-Rams game will be Noah Eagle and Luke Kuechly, with former NFL Network host MJ Acosta serving as the reporter. Again, it's likely we'll see and hear the same trio for the Thanksgiving Eve game, one of the two Christmas games, and the Netflix Week 18 Saturday game.
After streaming Christmas games in 2024 and 2025, Netflix expanded its footprint to five annual games on a deal that runs through 2029. Although Netflix has said it doesn't want a full-season package, many things can and will change over the next four years.

Netflix is sending a Motley Crew of personalities Down Under for the first regular-season NFL game ever played in Australia.
The streamer revealed its full broadcast team for the 49ers-Rams matchup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, with Elle Duncan hosting studio coverage alongside desk ***** ysts Michael Irvin, Nick Foles and Clay Matthews III, while Noah Eagle calls play-by-play with Luke Kuechly as his ***** yst and MJ Acosta reporting from the sideline. The game airs Thursday, Sept. 10 at 8:35 p.m. ET, kicking off Netflix's expanded five-game NFL slate.
Netflix expanded its NFL footprint from two games to five for the upcoming season, and Duncan, the face of the streamer's fledgling sports division, told Sports Media Watch that Netflix intends to run a consistent crew across that entire slate.
"We want every single one of our events to, yes, have a through-line and some consistency, and you'll get that with the desk and the talent," Duncan said.
Irvin, who already has Netflix experience, having worked the desk during last season's Christmas Day doubleheader alongside Devin McCourty and Austin Ekeler, is the closest thing this lineup has to a returning face. Foles and Matthews are both making their Netflix debuts. Foles won Super Bowl LII MVP with the Eagles during an 11-season career across six teams, but has no real broadcasting track record beyond his own The SZN podcast, which recently joined NBC Sports Philadelphia's podcast network. Matthews, a longtime Green Bay Packers linebacker and Super Bowl champion, has built what media presence he has the same way, joining Bussin' With The Boys last year as its self-described "consistent fourth chair" alongside Will Compton, Taylor Lewan and Delanie Walker, after FanDuel lured the show away from Barstool Sports.

Clay High School graduate Caeleb Dressel earned his second victory of the week, winning the concluding men's 50-meter freestyle at the USA Swimming Toyota National Championships in Irvine, Calif.
The nine-time Olympic gold medalist left no doubt in the sport's fastest event, touching the wall in 21.35 seconds. Quintin McCarty placed second in 21.75, followed by Nikita Sheremet in 21.76.
While Dressel didn't surpass his own American record of 21.04, which he set in 2021 in Omaha, Neb., he closed an excellent week in the pool and recorded his fastest mark since 2022. Only two swimmers in the world have gone faster in 2026.
Now 29, Dressel completed the meet with first-place finishes in the 50 and 100 free as well as runner-up spots in the 50 and 100 **** erfly, both times behind Ilya Kharun.
Dressel won two gold medals at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, five (three of them individual) in 2021 in Tokyo and two in 2024 in Paris.

Gretchen Walsh nearly broke her own world record to win the U.S. ***** le in the 50m freestyle as she prepares for the biggest international meet of the year.
Walsh clocked 23.60 seconds, the third-fastest time in history, in Irvine, California.

Walsh takes that momentum into the Pan Pacific Championships in two weeks, also in Irvine. Pan Pacs are for swimmers from outside of Europe, while Europeans compete in their own continental championships this month.

The Los Angeles Dodgers made a roster move on Saturday, Aug. 1, promoting Kyle Hurt and Wyatt back to the major league staff, designating Cole Irvin for ******* ignment, and most notably, putting Will Klein on the injured list.
Klein is hitting the 15-day injured list with right elbow soreness. The righty had a noticeable drop in velocity of a couple of miles per hour from the start of the season, which is a sign of wear.
His pitching results have also been trending down.
In June, he had a 4.32 ERA in 8.1 innings. Things got worse in July; he had a 7.71 ERA in 9.1 innings.

LOS ANGELES — Dodgers right-hander Will Klein has struggled of late, and on Saturday was placed on the 15-day injured list with right elbow discomfort. Wyatt Mills was called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
That wasn't the only roster move on Saturday, as Kyle Hurt was also recalled from Triple-A and Cole Irvin was designated for ****** ignment after pitching six innings on Friday night.
Klein was slowly working his way up manager Dave Roberts' trust tree in the Dodgers bullpen, pitching in increasingly important spots over the first few months of the season. The right-hander's first third of the season was much better than his second third of the season, and it's been especially ****** ounced of late, with Klein allowing runs in each of his last six appearances.
In those last six games, Klein allowed 13 runs (eight earned) on 10 hits and eight walks with eight strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. Since the beginning of June, Klein has a 6.11 ERA and 15-percent walk rate, after a 1.88 ERA and 7.3-percent walk rate through the end of May.
On the season, Klein has a 3.67 ERA and 3.43 xERA with two saves, the first of his career, with 49 strikeouts and 21 walks in 41 2/3 innings in his 36 games pitched.

LOS ANGELES — Cole Irvin fulfilled his duty, pitching six innings in what would have otherwise been a bullpen game on Friday night at Dodger Stadium. On Saturday he was the expected casualty of his own performance, designated for **** ignment so the Dodgers could fill his roster spot with a fresh arm that would be available for the next few days. Kyle Hurt got the call from Triple-A Oklahoma City before the middle game against the Red Sox.
"Cole did a great job, but we obviously need to backfill an arm, some length," manager Dave Roberts said Saturday.
Irvin followed right-handed relievers Edgardo Henriquez and Will Klein, who covered the first seven outs. Then Irvin got the Dodgers into the ninth inning, with Evan Phillips getting the final two outs. The end result didn't quite work out, as a five-run seventh inning gave Boston the win, but having Irvin soak up so many innings essentially reset the bullpen, with five more games before the Dodgers' next off day.
This is similar to Charlie Barnes' start against the A's on July 1, in which the left-hander ate up seven innings but allowed seven runs in a loss to the A's, but got the bullpen a rest day smack dab in the middle of a stretch of 13 game days in a row, and was sent down the next day.
The veteran Irvin doesn't have minor league options, having used them in 2019, 2020, and 2023, so he had to be designated for **** ignment. That opens up a 40-man roster spot, which will likely be useful given that the trade deadline is Monday, offering flexibility at the least.

The Dallas Cowboys are no strangers to contract drama and have balanced perceived financial jealousies before.
And for the record, there is none and will be none with receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are hoping to get back to their winning ways on Saturday, August 1, against the Boston Red Sox after dropping a bullpen game.
Last night, the Dodgers hung around for a while, honestly a lot longer than expected.
Cole Irvin, an offseason signing who inked a camp invite deal and eventually joined on a minor league contract, did a great job of eating innings, pitching a total of six and protecting the bullpen from too much wear.
However, while he got off to a great start, the seventh inning went left very quickly, something that manager Dave Roberts elected not to stop to avoid using a key reliever.

The Bucs dealt with a lot of injuries in 2025, and several players are ready to turn the page and see others perform the way they know they can. From Baker Mayfield to Cody Mauch to Bucky Irving, a lot of those players looking for a bounceback are on offense. In fact, two of those names were connected this week after one spoke to the media.
Mauch is coming back from a season-ending knee injury and has a chip of his own on his shoulder. He spoke to the media on Friday and shared how several Bucs are itching to prove themselves, but especially Baker Mayfield.
He explained it while talking about the contract issues between Mayfield and the franchise, saying, "It sucks to see him go through this and whatnot, but it's not going to change his mentality, the way he plays. . .he's going to go off."
Mauch will play a big part in Mayfield having the year he expects. The offensive line being hurt led to some issues with Mayfield and his health. If both parties are healthy and there for each other on the field, then the results will likely speak for themselves.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ceddane Rafaela's go-ahead two-run homer highlighted a five-run seventh inning and the Boston Red Sox rallied after blowing an early lead to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-4 on Friday night in the series opener.
The Red Sox led 3-0 in the third before the Dodgers scored a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth on Shohei Ohtani's two-run, two-out blast to take a 4-3 lead.
Ohtani was 2 for 5 with two runs and two RBIs a night after sitting out because of lingering soreness in his left knee that has kept the two-way superstar off the mound since July 3.
Dodgers reliever Cole Irvin (0-1) gave up a leadoff walk to Nick Sogard in the fifth. Rafaela followed with a 405-foot shot to left that put the Red Sox back in front, 5-4.
Andruw Monasterio's two-run RBI double and Jarren Duran's RBI groundout to Irvin extended the lead to 8-4.

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost 9-4 to the Boston Red Sox, dropping the first game of the series to a red-hot squad.
The Dodgers were always underdogs on Friday night since it was a bullpen game, given how LA protects its arms.
Luckily, the bullpen was not too taxed thanks to Cole Irvin, a minor league arm who saved the Dodgers six innings of pitching and 100 pitches.
He looked dominant through his first time around the order, getting soft contact and outs on a regular basis.

LOS ANGELES — Minutes after getting hit in the helmet by a 95 mph fastball in the second inning Friday, Red Sox first baseman Willson Contreras left the game.
Contreras took a Will Klein pitch to the head with one out in the inning, then ran the bases and scored but did not come back out for defense in the bottom of the frame. The Red Sox shifted Nick Sogard from second base to first base to replace Contreras and inserted Anthony Seigler at second.
According to the Red Sox, Contreras departed for "precautionary reasons."
Klein, pitching with two men on base, brushed Contreras back with a high inside fastball at 95.3 mph to start the at-bat. Two pitches later, he hit the slugger right in the side of the helmet at 95.4 mph. Contreras went down to the dirt but got up as interim manager Chad Tracy and a team trainer came out to visit him.
The Red Sox then plated two runs off lefty Cole Irvin to took an early 3-0 lead behind All-Star starter Ranger Suarez.

Over the last several months, as Los Angeles Lakers star guard Austin Reaves neared his opportunity to opt out of his contract and cash in on a lucrative new one, many expected him to stay put. He eventually did by agreeing to a four-year, $185 million deal, but the process didn't come without anxiety.
He admitted that there was a point in the negotiations when he doubted he would end up staying with the Lakers. Indeed, the Detroit Pistons were one team that was "coming aggressively" for Reaves in free agency, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. Detroit finished first in the Eastern Conference last season but needed a little more star power and another legitimate scoring threat in its halfcourt game.
Vincent Goodwill of ESPN reported on "NBA Today" that Pistons superstar Cade Cunningham tried to recruit Reaves to the Motor City.
"Banking on internal improvement has been the thought going back from last summer when they didn't make a big move going into the season," Goodwill said. "They want to see how Jalen Duren and Ausar Thompson and Ron Holland would play together and it led to 60 wins. Now you're thinking Detroit was going to go make a big move this past offseason. The Pistons have made some incremental moves this summer, including bringing in veteran forwards John Collins, Tobias Harris and Taurean Prince and guard Isaiah Joe. But they have largely been left behind in the arms race that has taken place throughout the Eastern Conference over the past several weeks.

Cade Cunningham was very involved in the potential recruitment of Austin Reaves. Austin Reaves re-signed with the Lakers. The calendar is turning to August, which means it's 2026 fantasy football season. And that means your draft prep has started. So of course we're here to help you out.
The first thing you need to do is identify value in fantasy football drafts, and that's what we're here to help you do with a list of the early sleepers that we've seen as we've scoured the lists of rankings as training camp gets underway. And while injuries and training camp battles will no doubt change some of these, it's a good time as any to start thinking sleepers.
So here's a list of some of the names we're intrigued by who could beat out their average draft position (ADP) later on in August when you select your team for the season:
My faith in Bucky Irving has gone way down and here comes a running back who looked really good last season for the Pittsburgh Steelers and who finished inside the top-25 at the position in fantasy. He can catch passes, he can score at the goal line... and he's not going to cost you much on draft day.
The injuries have been a huge concern for the talent former Chiefs running back. But let's imagine for a moment that the Lions don't want to completely overuse Jahmyr Gibbs and that Pacheco can be explosive in limited action. I'm willing to spend a late pick to see if that works out.

The Atlanta Braves are opening up a series at home against the Washington Nationals where they hope to get some momentum going before the trade deadline on August 3rd.
Grant Holmes will be facing Jake Irvin for the second time this season. In that game both pitchers performed well, but it was Irvin who came out on top with 5.0 innings of one hit ball. Irvin has not pitched since that game and may need to shake off some rust today.
The Braves and Nationals are both in the top three in runs scored this month, so it looks to be a shootout, but that was said the last time these two pitchers faced off and that was not the case. Baseball can be funny sometimes. Here is to hoping the Braves' offense can shake off their underwhelming performance against the Mets and start this series off with a bang.
Follow along with us in the comments.
First pitch is at 7:15 EDT.

No matter where LeBron decides to go, it would be seen as him chasing rings, since almost every team in the league already has stars. "Where does Charles and the legends want LeBron to go? Do they want him to go to the G League? Because if he went to Cleveland, is that team stacked? Is Miami with Bam Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo is that team stacked? Jokic and Jamal Murray is that team stacked? Ant Edwards, Rudy Gobert I don't know; he left Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves is that not? I don't understand the premise of the complaint," Windhorst said in response. — 7/28/2026 basketballnews.com
Shams Charania: "The Heat are among several championship contending teams that are monitoring Klay Thompson's situation and have interest in Klay Thompson potentially via trade or a buyout. Klay Thompson is in the final year of his deal. You know he wants to compete for a championship as a four-time ****** le winner. He signed on with the Mavs a couple years ago to play with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. A lot has changed in Dallas." — 7/27/2026 YouTube

Kyrie Irving last played in the NBA on March 3, 2025. He has only appeared in 128 games for the Dallas Mavericks since 2023, but that will change soon. A recent update about the superstar guard's status heading into next season provides good news for the team's fans.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Monday that Irving is back to full strength. The senior insider added that he has spoken to his new head coach, Dusty May, as well as Dallas' president and general manager.

The Miami Heat are the team to watch this summer for a variety of reasons. Their first major move was completing a blockbuster trade for former Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, immediately putting themselves into the championship conversation.
Miami has also been considered a potential landing spot for LeBron James since the beginning of free agency. Heat president Pat Riley recently revealed what the process of pursuing James has been like.
“To be transparent about it, we've had discussions over a week ago, maybe a week before that about it. But right now, I think we're like everybody else. Just waiting to see what he does,” Riley told the media.
However, James is not the only star the Heat are pursuing. Over the last week, Miami has gained significant momentum as a potential landing spot for four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to begin training camp in only a few days.
The Bucs have several high-profile storylines that will be played out either before or during the season.
Will Tampa be able to come to an agreement with quarterback Baker Mayfield on a lucrative contract extension? How will the team handle 31-year-old defensive tackle Vita Vea's own desire for a new deal?
Can Chris Godwin Jr., Jalen McMillan, Bucky Irving, and Tampa's offensive line stay healthy for an entire season? What kind of impact will all of the Bucs' offseason additions have on a defense that struggled badly in 2025?
Will Todd Bowles make it through the season as head coach?

LeBron James could be "slow-playing his decision" to announce his new team, according to NBA ****** yst Kevin O'Connor on Wednesday. O'Connor wrote that the former Los Angeles Lakers superstar could be waiting to see if the teams interested in signing him could get Kyrie Irving or Anthony Davis.
On Thursday, NBA insider Shams Charania gave his latest intel on the four-time MVP after rumors ramped up that he is looking to team up with either one of his former teammates.
James was reportedly ready to make a decision early last week about where he would play next. Just as anticipation went to a fever pitch, the 41-year-old told fans at the Fanatics Fest in New York that he wasn't ready yet to commit to a new team.
By prolonging the inevitable, some are speculating that James could still be waiting for interested teams to make a major trade to entice him to sign.
Charania, on the "Pat McAfee Show," told the host what he has gathered about those rumors.

LeBron James has once again become the center of the NBA offseason, and according to a new report, the reason behind his prolonged free agency decision is exactly the kind of move that has defined his career. According to Bleacher Report, James is “slow-playing” his free agency while waiting to see if any interested teams can first acquire either Anthony Davis or Kyrie Irving before he makes his decision.
If true, it’s another reminder that few superstars have exercised more influence over roster construction than LeBron.

Most free agents evaluate the roster that’s already in place before deciding where to sign. LeBron, reportedly, is waiting to see if teams can reshape their roster first.
The idea of delaying a decision until a potential destination lands one of your preferred teammates is a uniquely LeBron approach. Throughout his career, he’s never been shy about trying to maximize his chances of winning by surrounding himself with elite talent.
