Brentford finished their pre-season smashing seven past Eintracht Frankfurt at the Indeed Invitational at the Gtech Community Stadium winning 7-0.
They go into their opening Premier League fixture at home to Spurs following a glut of goals.
The Bundesliga side, who had won all five of their previous pre-season games and finished eighth in the Bundesliga last season, were put to the sword in West London in front of more than 13,000 fans.
Braces from Kevin Schade and Igor Thiago, a home debut goal for Mamadou Sangaré and strikes from Keane Lewis-Potter and Dango Ouattara will have made some head turns even during pre-season.
Shade scored the opener after just two minutes, Sangaré volleyed from just outside the box after 12 minutes and Igor Thiago tapped the ball into an open goal to make it 3-0 at the half.

Crusaders claimed their first points of the Irish Premiership season as they came from behind to beat Ballymena United 2-1 at Seaview.
Ballymena took the lead from the first meaningful attack of the game on 10 minutes after the hosts failed to clear the ball inside their penalty area.
Defender Kurtis Forsythe made a good initial block but Ballymena reacted quickest to the loose ball, with Igor Rutkowski steering a shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Lionel Messi disclosed in a heartfelt Instagram post that his journey to this year's FIFA World Cup final was fueled by a personal vow made to his father, Jorge, who had been fighting a severe illness in the days leading up to the tournament's start and was ultimately unable to be present.
Jorge Messi passed away last week at a hospital in Rosario, Argentina, at age 68, after an extended illness, casting his son's career into uncertainty as he suggested retirement.
Newell's Old Boys, the club where Jorge himself once competed and where Lionel launched his youth career, characterized him in a statement as "the pillar and the person who, with vision, rigor and affection, supported the career of the best player of all time."

Roma restarts from Trigoria, and Gian Piero Gasperini is back with one of his key players.
Lorenzo Pellegrini has returned to the Fulvio Bernardini Training Center after his long-awaited contract renewal, marking a step forward in the process that will gradually bring him back into the team's fold.
The Giallorossi midfielder, however, is not yet ready to train with his teammates.
After recurring from a muscle injury to the rectus femoris in his right thigh, the player is completing the final stage of the recovery program developed by Roma's medical and athletic staff.
The club remains cautious.

Jan Ziolkowski could leave Roma after just one year. Speaking exclusively to us, the interested party stated that he's happy at Trigoria, but his adventure could be coming to an end.
Signed last summer from Legia Warsaw for €6 million, he's logged 761 minutes in all competitions, scoring one goal in the Europa League.
The 2006-born player wants more playing time, and doesn't appear destined to rise through the ranks in the capital.
The Trigoria club – according to Il Corriere della Sera – has established that €20 million is needed to sell the defender, confirming the feeling that the central defender is talented.
There's no shortage of suitors: several clubs from Saudi Arabia are ready to knock on the doors of the Roman training center. They certainly wouldn't face financial problems; it remains to be seen whether the player will be open to an early departure from Europe.

For three rounds at The Inner Circle 25, three-time Glory Kickboxing World Champion Marat Grigorian reminded everyone exactly why he is one of the sport's most dangerous fighters.
The Armenian delivered a striking masterclass against Russian standout Mamuka Usubyan in Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium this past Friday, August 7, officially booking his ticket into the semifinals of the ONE SAMURAI Featherweight Kickboxing Tournament.
Grigorian walked into fight week supremely confident he had the technical tools to get the job done, and that reminder came exactly as advertised on the subscriber-exclusive spectacle on live.onefc.com.
The Hemmers Gym representative relied heavily on his Dutch-style kickboxing throughout the clash, utilizing heavy punch-kick combinations, relentless forward pressure, and masterful footwork that left his foe with very few answers.
Fresh off his 71st professional triumph and a fourth successive win on the global stage, the 35-year-old took a moment to thank the fans for their unwavering support:

Diego Ferreira is invigorated after leaving the UFC Fight Night 284 co-main event with a Fight of the Night bonus and his first win since May 2024.
At 42, many were questioning if Saturday's lightweight bout against Billy Quarantillo (18-8 MMA, 6-6 UFC) would be the swan sang for Ferreira (20-7 MMA, 11-7 UFC) after losing his past two fights. Instead, he turned in his best performance in years, rocking his opponent several times en route to a unanimous decision win where he won all three rounds from every judge.
Ferreira has been a difficult out for anyone for the entirety of his more than 12-year UFC tenure. He wants to close it out strong over the next few years, and is using former UFC light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira as his inspiration to make what's left ahead, some of his best moments.
"I want to take it one-by-one first," Ferreira told MMA Junkie post-fight at UFC Fight Night 284. "I saw Glover Teixeira fighting to 45 or 46, so why not? I can maybe go further than that. But my family is first, so I'm going to sit down with my family thinking about it. But for sure a few more years to go thinking about that."
Ferreira was sharp in the octagon at UFC Fight Night 284. His right hand found a target over and over on Quarantillo's chin throughout the 15 minutes, and much to the surprise of Ferreira, he never touched the canvas.

Later this month, members of the Los Angeles Lakers will head to Slovenia to take part in a four-day minicamp that is being held there by Luka Doncic. It will be an opportunity for these players, especially the many new ones, to build chemistry and camaraderie ahead of the official start of training camp several weeks from now.
The Lakers are now fully centered around Doncic and Austin Reaves, and the two have developed a legitimate friendship with each other. Reaves has been in China on a tour with Rigorer, the company he has a signature sneaker with, and he was asked about that upcoming minicamp. He responded by trash-talking Doncic a little.
"I'm going to feel great. I'm gonna kick his [expletive] in golf. That'll be a lot of fun. But it'll just be good to get around everybody. We got a fairly new team, a lot of new guys, so it'll just be good to be around them, get to know one another off the court and just build that chemistry there."
Just about everyone knows that Reaves is a huge fan of golf and that he plays the game quite often. He recently took part in the American Century Championship, an annual celebrity golf tournament, and he finished in a tie for 16th along with NFL wide receiver Adam Thielen.
Doncic has also picked up golf, but it is pretty safe to say that he isn't as avid a golfer as Reaves is.

Olympique de Marseille have made enquiries over KAA Gent forward Hyllarion Goore (20), according to L'Équipe.
Marseille are yet to make their first signing of the summer transfer window, with the club currently prioritising sales as they look to improve their financial position. However, sporting director Grégory Lorenzi is already working on potential reinforcements ahead of the new season.
One of the attacking profiles being considered is Goore. L'Équipe reports that Marseille have taken information on the Ivory Coast forward, although the interest remains at an exploratory stage and no offer has yet been made.
Gent are counting on the 20-year-old, who signed a contract extension with the Belgian club in April which ties him down until 2029.
Goore made 43 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring five goals and providing four ******* ists. However, just 19 of those appearances came from the starting line-up.It will add to a significant shake-up offensively for OM, who could yet see the departures of Amine Gouiri and Igor Paixao. The former is being targeted by Serie A side Como, whilst the latter has been tracked by Leeds United in the Premier League.

Lorenzo Pellegrini will rejoin Roma today.
After a long and unusual wait of over a month, the number 7 will return to Trigoria today for at least a year.
A medical appointment was scheduled for this morning at the Campus Biomedico, followed by the signing and official confirmation of the contract renewal, strongly supported by Gasperini, in the afternoon.
It's clear that if it were up to the owners, Pellegrini's contract would not have been renewed.
The club's resistance has led to a prolonged stalemate, with even the final details of the new contract being tweaked.

Last season, several goalies proved they belong in the discussion for top-five netminders in the NHL. Logan Thompson emerged as a standout, showcasing elite skills even as the Capitals missed the playoffs. Meanwhile, Igor Shesterkin delivered impressive performances despite facing a struggling New York defense. Here are the top five goalies in the NHL as we approach the 2026-27 season.
MORE: NHL players facing the most pressure entering 2026-2027 season
Apr 8, 2026; Toronto, Ontario, CAN; Washington Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson (48) follows the play against the Toronto Maple Leafs during the third period at Scotiabank Arena. Mandatory Credit: Nick Turchiaro-Imagn Images
If it weren't for these other top goalies, Thompson has a really good case to be in the top three. Thompson led the NHL in goals saved above expected. He was dominant, but his team in front could not do enough to get into the playoffs.
Ilya Sorokin has established himself as one of the premier goalies in the league, and what truly distinguishes him is his remarkable achievement of 26 shutouts in 286 games over the past five seasons, the highest total in the NHL during that period.

Aug. 5—A challenging year awaits Wayne in the eyes of head coach Roosevelt Mukes.
The Warriors nonconference schedule consists of a road game at Fairfield before hosting state powers Cincinnati St. Xavier and Lakewood St. Edward. The rigors of Greater Western Ohio Conference play follows.
"That's why you come to a place like Wayne High School to play a schedule like that and just compete," Mukes said.
Wayne competed well in 2025. The Warriors reached the Region 2 final for a second consecutive season. That has the team hungry to take the next step needed to get back to the state final for the first time since 2015.
"Just knowing what the seniors what they left off, we got to finish what they [started]," senior Aaden Curtis said.

The European banking sector is facing a re-rating this year, led by a "higher for longer" interest rate environment that continues to enhance net interest margins across core lending books. The doubling of the EURO STOXX Banks Index in the last two years represents a substantial adjustment in investor opinion, turning European financials from a chronically punished sector into a core part of macro risk appetite. Europe's flagship institutions, UBS Group AG (NYSE:UBS) and Deutsche Bank Aktiengesellschaft (NYSE:DB), are providing profitability on par with top-tier Wall Street investment banks, thanks to rising trading volatility, active customer engagement and wider deposit spreads.
Deutsche Bank Aktiengesellschaft (NYSE:DB) reported a record post-tax profit of €1.9 billion in the second quarter of 2026, while overall net revenues increased 9% year-over-year to €8.5 billion, boosting pre-tax profit by 11% to €2.7 billion. The lender's performance was driven by its reinvigorated Investment Bank, which saw pre-tax profit rise 59% year-over-year to €1.3 billion. Operating performance was especially strong in fixed income, rates, and credit trading, where Deutsche Bank outperformed several key US competitors.
Additionally, Deutsche Bank Aktiengesellschaft (NYSE:DB) is proving that its multiyear operational change is gaining traction ahead of its long-term corporate goals. Management intends to achieve a 60% cost-income ratio and a 13% return on tangible equity (ROTE) by 2028. In the initial half of 2026, the bank reached a 60.9% cost-income ratio and an 11.9% ROTE, indicating that its cost-discipline framework and revenue trends are ahead of projections.
UBS Group AG (NYSE:UBS) matched its German counterpart by reporting extraordinary second-quarter results, including a pre-tax profit of $3.6 billion and an underlying pre-tax profit of $3.9 billion, a 47% increase year-over-year. While CEO Sergio Ermotti described the Investment Bank's performance as exceptional, he cautioned that rising macroeconomic threats might quickly shift market sentiment.
The wealth management division added $36 billion in net new ****** ets during the quarter. Notably, the company produced positive net inflows in the Americas while absorbing around $10 billion in seasonal US tax-related ****** et outflows. Moreover, UBS's "one bank" cross-divisional strategy in Asia-Pacific generated almost one-third of the group's pre-tax profit while capturing significant wealth inflows. Adding to bottom-line execution, UBS Group AG (NYSE:UBS) realized an additional $1.1 billion in run-rate cost savings during Q2 from its continued integration of Credit Suisse, bringing total gross cost reductions to $12.6 billion as the merger nears completion.

After Castro and Koulierakis, Roma is very close to making their third signing.
To strengthen their right flank, the Giallorossi had their eye on Givairo Read, a 2006-born Dutchman currently owned by Feyenoord.
However, the Rotterdam club's demands were deemed excessive by those at Trigoria, so they opted for Nahuel Molina, currently playing for Atlético Madrid.
Yesterday, Roma presented the Colchoneros with an offer of €17 million, including bonuses, to bring the former Udinese player back to Italy. This sum is significantly lower than the €30 million Feyenoord was asking for Read.
According to Matteo Moretto on Fabrizio Romano's YouTube channel, the deal for Roma-Molina is very close to being finalized and could be completed between today and tomorrow.

Confidence has never been in short supply for three-time Glory Kickboxing World Champion Marat Grigorian, and that self-belief shows no signs of wavering as he heads into his next test at The Inner Circle 25.
The Armenian knockout machine carries that same conviction into the first round of the eight-man ONE SAMURAI Featherweight Kickboxing Tournament against Russian standout Mamuka Usubyan.
Their clash will be part of several exciting matchups on the Asia primetime spectacle inside Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium, which will broadcast live exclusively to subscribers at live.onefc.com.
Grigorian arrives on the back of a three-fight winning streak. Two of those victories ended in highlight-reel fashion, first against Abdelali "Black Diamond" Zahidi, then against Kaito at ONE SAMURAI 1 this past April in Tokyo.
Sandwiched between those finishes was a hard-fought win over Rukiya "Demolition Man" Anpo at ONE 173, a rivalry that carried its own share of fireworks.

The Dodgers entered the 2026 season with ambitions of becoming team to three-peat in 26 years. Following Monday's trade deadline, they echoed that sentiment with a summer blockbuster and an encore.
Their string of deals began late Saturday night, as after suffering a 3-2 loss to the Boston Red Sox, they struck a deal that infuriated nearly the entire baseball world. The Dodgers landed two-time defending AL Cy Young award winner Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers while sending away outfield prospect Zyhir Hope, right-hander River Ryan and pitching prospect Brady Smith.
The addition of Skubal not only invigorates an already vaunted rotation (when fully healthy), it gives the Dodgers another left-handed option that is a proven innings eater. Before Skubal needed surgery to remove loose bodies from his elbow, he had logged at least six innings of work in six of his first seven starts. He hasn't matched his pre-injury average start length since returning on June 13, but he has logged at least five innings in all but one of his nine final starts in Detroit.
For a Dodgers rotation that is still missing Shohei Ohtani, Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow, adding Skubal in the mix keeps the six-man rotation as the norm for the pitching staff down the stretch. With Emmet Sheehan's demotion to Triple-A, the current rotation features Skubal, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, Justin Wrobleski and Eric Lauer, and until the other three starters return, the Dodgers could implement a weekly bullpen game. Skubal will certainly headline the four-man rotation in the postseason, and the Dodgers have seven options to choose to accompany him come October.
Gauging what the postseason rotation will be a work in progress until October arrives. Skubal and Yamamoto are shoe-ins at the top, but the final two spots are completely up for grabs. Blake Snell is set to return next week after a final rehab start, while Tyler Glasnow has yet to embark on his rehab ***** ignment. The latter is projected to return sometime in September. Ohtani's status for returning to the mound in the regular season is unclear, though the team expects him back in October. The trio of Sasaki, Wrobleski and Lauer all were used exclusively in relief last year for both the Dodgers and Blue Jays.

Fabio Paratici's busy summer continues with Fiorentina's 7th incoming transfer of the season (9th if you count the loan redemptions for Marco Brescianini and Giovanni Fabbian). The DS has gone back to familiar territory again and grabbed rightback João Mário on loan from Juventus. According to LaViola.it, it's a €1.8 million initial fee and a €9.5 million option.
I wasn't particularly high on this move when the rumor broke a couple weeks ago and I'm no higher now. João Mário Neto Lopes is 26 and has 3 caps for Portugal but I don't see him as anything more than a depth piece. He's got the requisite pace and technical ability to look very good in a YouTube compilation, sure, but his disastrous defending means that he struggles to make a positive impact over 90 minutes.
A Porto product, João Mário moved to the Juvenuts last year for €12 million but suffered a Mattia Vitiesque trajectory: unable to get on the pitch for either Igor Tudor or Luciano Spalletti, he was loaned to Bologna in January but failed to elbow past Nadir Zortea for minutes under Vincenzo Italiano and the Oscar Mayers declined his option. I can't imagine he'll shoulder past (sigh) Alex Jimenez in Florence. His arrival also sounds the death knell on Dodô's time with the club.
That's enough negativity for now. João Mário should be Perfectly Fine as a low-cost backup. If he pops, another €9.5 million won't feel onerous at all. After all, this is a guy in his athletic prime with plenty of Champions League experience. The worst-case scenario is that he rides the bench for a season and then returns to Turin. My fervent hope, however, is that he bursts into the team and starts all 38 Serie A games, wowing everyone with his two-way play and cementing himself in Fabio Grosso's XI because that would mean noted creep Jimenez wouldn't be playing for this team.
Hey, all of a sudden I'm a huge João Mário fan. Bem-vindo e boa sorte!

Niccolò Pisilli was sidelined a few weeks ago with a calf problem that Roma is treating with great care.
A delicate area of the leg, it requires a few more days for full recovery and to avoid relapses, as the player admitted today: "I'm working on getting back to work; I should be fully recovered in a week."
He will therefore be fully available again starting next week.
Meanwhile, the Giallorossi midfielder spoke from his training camp in Wales, admitting that he never considered leaving Roma: "I've never had anything else in my head other than Roma. I've never really had this thought of leaving. Certainly last January, when my agent and I saw that I hadn't played much, we thought about finding an alternative. But in the end, things worked out well, both for me and for the team, and I'm the happiest guy in the world."
Regarding the intensity of Gasperini's work, Pisilli, in his second consecutive training camp with the Grugliasco-born coach, confirmed the training sessions to: "The coach is always the same; he makes us work hard and intensely. From the first few days, we've had double sessions, and we've often slept at Trigoria because our goal is to be as ready as possible for the start of the league and the Champions League. We're working really hard."
