Russian oil producer Rosneft has commenced oil shipments from its Vostok Oil project following a commissioning ceremony overseen by Russian President Vladimir Putin via video link.
The first oil from the development was loaded onto the Valentin Pikul Arc7-class Arctic tanker at the Bukhta Sever port.
Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak also participated in the event.
The Vostok Oil project consolidates a number of significant oil and gas deposits in the northern Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Rosneft estimates the project's resource base at seven billion tonnes (bt) of oil with sulphur content ranging between 0.01% and 0.1%.

VLADIVOSTOK, Sept 4 (Reuters) - Igor Sechin, chief of Russia's top oil producer Rosneft, said on Thursday that China, not OPEC, has stabilized global oil markets by reducing crude imports by 5.5 million barrels per day this year.
Sechin, the most influential Russian energy manager and a long-standing ally of President Vladimir Putin, was speaking at a Russian - Chinese business forum in the far eastern city of Vladivostok.
"This year, China has effectively taken the lead from OPEC and, without being a member of any cartel, has managed to stabilise the global oil market by cutting its oil imports by 5.5 million barrels per day," Sechin said.
Sechin, known for his skepticism towards OPEC, said China will get more influence on the energy markets as the number of OPEC members is declining.
"I believe that further growth in China's reserves will strengthen China's role in the energy market, against a backdrop of OPEC's waning influence and a reduction in the number of its members," Sechin said.

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Kyiv on Sunday launched new strikes overnight on Russian energy sites. It has also denied Moscow’s claims that a Ukrainian drone struck the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant.
Ukraine’s General Staff said Ukrainian drones struck the Saratov oil refinery in southwestern Russia, causing a large-scale fire. It claimed the refinery has been supplying Moscow’s war effort.
The refinery belongs to Russia’s state oil enterprise, Rosneft. Local Russian Gov. Roman Busargin said Ukrainian drones had damaged civilian infrastructure, but did not give details. Astra, an independent Russian news channel, said an oil refinery was on fire in the city of Saratov.
Ukraine has stepped up its attacks on Russia’s oil and gas facilities in recent months, arguing the energy sector funds and directly fuels Moscow’s more than four-year invasion.
“Tonight, our soldiers applied Ukraine’s long-range sanctions against an oil refinery in Saratov, Russia — approximately 700 kilometers (435 miles) from the front line. A significant achievement,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on social media on Sunday.
