Manchester City faces Crystal Palace on Friday in both teams' second match of the new Premier League season, with City hoping to build on its last-gasp win in the opener after finishing runner-up last year.
Defenders Marc Guéhi and Joško Gvardiol scored in the 84th and 91st minutes to earn the full three points for Manchester City against Bournemouth in Enzo Maresca's first competitive match since taking over as manager from the departed Pep Guardiola.

However, that was not the case. Rico Lewis lined up at right-back, with Ruben Dias, Abdukodir Khusanov and Josko Gvardiol starting in defence. Elliot Anderson, Nico O'Reilly, and Marc Guehi formed Manchester City's midfield. A criticism of Manchester City's play in the four preseason matches they played before yesterday's match was how open their midfield was. By starting Guehi and Anderson together, Enzo Maresca addressed this issue. Guehi put in a strong display in midfield, which fully justified Maresca's decision to play Guehi in City's engine room.

Max Alleyne has lifted the lid on a hectic 24 hours that saw him preparing to face Hull City one moment and then being named in the Blues' starting XI to face Brighton the next!

John Stones’ contract wasn’t renewed and he has departed the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders. While their departures were expected, they do leave a void in terms of leadership and experience in Manchester City’s defence. BBC Radio Manchester has been talking to fans to get their reaction to Josko Gvardiol signing a new deal which will keep him at Manchester City until 2031.
Kieran from Dukinfield is delighted by the news, describing it as "massive".
"I was gutted by rumours of him going. He's been superb for City and doesn't always get the credit he deserves," he added.
"He's one of the best young defenders in world football. He can play left-back and centre-back, he's quick, strong and powerful, and he scores goal. That's why the biggest teams in Europe wanted him.
"Of course, money will talk and City won't be offering him pennies, but it's refreshing to see him stay at City instead of going to a team like Real Madrid or Barcelona, especially after Pep Guardiola left.
