Sometimes the most memorable part of an outfit is hidden underneath. Designers have increasingly used contrasting linings to introduce unexpected flashes of color, transforming capes, coats, gowns and dramatic trains whenever they move. From Cate Blanchett to Anne Hathaway, several stars have demonstrated how a carefully chosen interior shade can turn an elegant red carpet look into something far more surprising.
Cate Blanchett delivered a memorable example at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival premiere of The Apprentice. Her custom Haider Ackermann for Jean Paul Gaultier strapless creation appeared predominantly black from the front, but revealed contrasting shades from other angles. A blush pink back and emerald green lining emerged as Blanchett lifted the train, giving the sophisticated design an unexpected injection of color.
Brie Larson used the same idea for superhero glamour at the London premiere of Captain Marvel. Her vivid blue Valentino gown featured an off the shoulder neckline, sculpted bodice and flowing cape. Hidden inside that cape was a shimmering gold lining, creating a dramatic metallic flash whenever the fabric moved. Nicole Kidman took a bolder approach at the New York premiere of Expats, where her sleek black Versace gown revealed a vivid lime green interior through its dramatic thigh high slit.
Helen Mirren offered a softer interpretation at the 2024 Golden Globes. Wearing Dolce & Gabbana, she paired an elegant lavender gown with a matching coat featuring voluminous sleeves. The coat's pink interior became visible as it opened, introducing another pastel shade while maintaining the sophistication of the overall look. Instead of competing with the lavender exterior, the contrasting lining gave the ensemble additional depth.
Anne Hathaway also embraced the technique with a playful maternity look at the Los Angeles premiere of The Last Thing He Wanted. Her custom Prabal Gurung ensemble centered on a blue satin high low top with a striking red interior. Paired with relaxed jeans and pointed red shoes, the contrasting colors framed her silhouette while bringing an unconventional energy to maternity dressing.

Hannah Waddingham has developed a red carpet style that is glamorous, confident and unapologetically feminine. Whether she is wearing an extravagant ball gown, sleek tailoring or a playful mini dress, the Ted Lasso star consistently embraces dramatic silhouettes and bold details while making each look feel distinctly her own.
At the 2022 Emmy Awards, Waddingham delivered a memorable princess moment in a strapless Dolce & Gabbana gown. Its voluminous pink tulle skirt and jeweled bodice brought plenty of drama, while glittering sneakers hidden underneath added an unexpected practical touch. She later changed direction at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, choosing a metallic green Tom Ford dress with a figure hugging silhouette and sheer detailing. For the Ted Lasso season three premiere, she demonstrated her versatility in a flowing Tarik Ediz halter jumpsuit.
Her 2024 appearances pushed the glamour even further. At the BAFTAs, Waddingham wore an Oscar de la Renta creation featuring intricate floral embroidery and an elegant high neckline. She embraced full Hollywood glamour at the Emmys in a shimmering halter gown finished with a dramatic feathered train. At the SAG Awards, a red Tony Ward gown combined off the shoulder styling, elegant draping and a thigh high slit, while her Golden Globes appearance brought a darker mood through sheer fabric, corsetry and black lace.
Waddingham continued experimenting with color and texture in 2025. At the Cannes Film Festival screening of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, she arrived in a striking pink Elie Saab gown with a sweeping, voluminous train. She later offered something completely different at the Los Angeles premiere of Smurfs, wearing a Stella McCartney denim dress accented with delicate white lace and coordinated white pumps.
By 2026, Waddingham was still finding new ways to balance sophistication with playfulness. For the Ted Lasso season four premiere, she chose an Alice + Olivia mini dress decorated with oversized red floral embroidery. It was shorter and more playful than many of her grand red carpet gowns, but carried the same unmistakable confidence.

Miley Cyrus has broken her silence on the death of her godmother, beloved country icon Dolly Parton.
In an emotional post on Instagram, the Flowers singer shared a black-and-white portrait of the star and stated that the pair's "sacred moments" will remain private.
"The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share," the tribute opened. "Our most sacred moments were private, and they'll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour and between our hearts."
Cyrus did, however, recall one of their final conversations in a touching commemoration.
"What I know is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis.
"I will always love her and want to make her proud. My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply. We're in this loss together, and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things."

If you loved the statement from Sandra Bullock and the glamour from Nicole Kidman, but wanted something a little darker, Maisie Williams had you covered. After setting the tone with her archive Gucci look at BBC Radio Studios earlier in the day, she continued that mood for the Practical Magic 2 London premiere.

You might be wondering why Maisie didn't reference the black look Sandra wore to the original 1998 Practical Magic premiere. But that black satin Dolce & Gabbana dress is a silhouette we've seen countless times since and recreating it would have been the obvious choice.

Nicole Kidman joined her original co-star Sandra Bullock on the red carpet for the Practical Magic 2 London premiere this evening, reprising her role as Gillian Owens, almost three decades after the pair first played the Owens sisters.

The actress wore a custom Chanel celadon-green bustier dress entirely embroidered with sequins and embellished with a cascade of intertwined chains and pearls.
Considering the film, I was half expecting Nicole to embrace a black, witchy mood for the premiere, so I'm glad she took us somewhere completely different. The celadon green feels fresh and unexpected, while the sequins, pearls and cascading chains still deliver the glamour I wanted from her.

Adorned in rhinestones and elevating her 5-foot stature with sky-high heels and voluminous blonde wigs, Dolly Parton often joked, "it costs a lot of money to look this cheap!"
Parton's looks on stage and off reflected both her Tennessee roots and her embodiment of over-the-top feminine glamour, an aesthetic articulated in her album **** le and self-anointed nickname "Backwoods Barbie." She was rarely seen without long acrylic nails, a full face of makeup, and heapings of glitter.
The prolific musician, actor and philanthropist, who died on Tuesday at 80 years old, always had a tongue-in-cheek response to criticisms about her larger-than-life sense of style. She quipped about her hair being a fire hazard, would play her hit '9 to 5' with nothing but her fire red acrylic nails as the instrument, and she unabashedly loved flashy clothes: shoulder pads, plunging necklines, a cinched waist, lace were all sartorial non-negotiables for the singer. But she paired it with a keen sense of self-awareness that only made her devout fanbase love her more.

"When I moved to Nashville in 1964, I already had some ideas about what I wanted to look like onstage — and off," she wrote in her book "Behind the Seams" in 2023. "Country stars had to have big hair and some sparkles, and you had to have a Cadillac. I had the big hair but not yet the Cadillac — or enough sparkles." She related to the clothes worn by famous fixtures on stage of the Grand Ole Opry, like Jean Shepard and didn't shy away from the unconventional things that influenced her, telling People she even took inspiration from the famously risqué Frederick's of Hollywood catalogs she flipped through when she was young.

Tate McRae risked baring it all in a Calvin Klein jacket that slipped off her shoulders. The Grammy winner put a modern twist on classic cold-weather street style, posing for a photo for the brand's new ad campaign. Her look perfectly blended tactile texture with relaxed-denim construction.
Tate McRae wore a Calvin Klein Faux Teddy Collar Jacket in the warm, earthy Tiger's Eye shade. The jacket featured a plush, cloud-like shearling finish. The nubby, curly grain added visual depth and tactile richness. Designed with a structured spread collar and a slightly oversized, boxy silhouette, the outerwear offered a plush contrast to the sleek skin showing underneath.
Styled off-the-shoulder, the jacket's heavy texture draped fluidly, softening its structural volume while creating a moody, relaxed, louche effect. For her lower half, she opted for 90s Straight Jeans in Indigo Julius, also from Calvin Klein.
They had a timeless vintage rise and a relaxed, straight-leg silhouette that added a grounding classic denim structure. Further, the deep indigo wash featured subtle whiskering and tonal contrast that caught the warm lighting.
The full-length leg stacked naturally over the frame as she sat. The rigid denim fell loosely, mirroring the jacket's effortless ease. The contrast between the rich, dark indigo cotton and the warm, honeyed tones of the plush teddy coat brought dimension to her look. Together, they struck the perfect balance between retro nostalgia and modern glamour.

When it comes to Zooey Deschanel, a few things instantly come to mind. Deadpan comedy and the cult classic "(500) Days of Summer" are some key ones, but today, we're talking about Deschanel's signature hairstyle: her bangs. Some celebrities are all about switching their hairstyles with every new era and role, while others tend to stick to what works best for them — and Deschanel certainly falls in the latter camp. Over the more than two decades she's worked in the entertainment industry, she's almost exclusively rocked bangs, whether they were bulky bangs, straight-across ones, a wispy '90s fringe, or boho bottleneck bangs. Basically, she's sported some variety, but she's stayed in the same realm.
Will this theme continue through her wedding day? Deschanel and reality television star Jonathan Scott — best known as half of HGTV's "Property Brothers" — announced their engagement in August of 2023, and we can't help but wonder if Deschanel will rock bangs for the event. After all, she's known for them, but bangs are notoriously hard to manage. Well, it appears that Deschanel is up for the challenge, as she told People when asked about her wedding 'do, "Always bangs. Always."

Zooey Deschanel wearing bangs to her wedding falls directly in line with previous interviews she's done. "You could say that I'm hooked on bangs. Would I ever give them up? I have, and I might again — for a role, perhaps — but I really don't feel like myself without them," Deschanel told Glamour back in 2013. "When I first got into acting, I was a bit of a chameleon ... So I used my look to help create an identity. Now people know me as the girl with bangs." And over the past decade, not much has changed. She's remained a poster child for bangs, and we mean that as a sincere compliment.

As the Philadelphia Eagles and each of the other 31 NFL franchises inch closer to cut day, roster battles continue to play out. This process is never easy, but a seldom-mentioned training camp competition is more interesting than advertised. Everyone wants to know who will win the backup quarterback job. That's true for obvious reasons. It's the most important position in sports. 'Wide receiver' is one of the game's glamour positions, so everyone will obviously take notes on what's transpiring there.
Perhaps you may have heard. Eagles fans are football-crazy, so their ***** ysis often goes deeper. Every depth piece along the offensive line and across the secondary is under the microscope, but there's one competition that has quietly developed beneath the surface.
Sean Mannion's offense needs a fullback, even though one can argue they won't be seen very often, but quietly, the battle there is just as spirited as any other the summer has offered. The competing parties are Cameron Latu and Carson Steele. One we know, the other not as much, and by the looks of things, there's a chance the victor in their tussle won't be announced until the 53-man roster is introduced.
The battle for a potential fullback role may ultimately come down to the final days of the preseason, with Carson Steele and Cameron Latu continuing to make their cases for what could be one of the last offensive roster spots available.
Neither player is competing for a traditional fullback job in the old-school sense. Instead, both offer versatility that could appeal to a coaching staff seeking players who can contribute across multiple phases of the game. Whether lining up as an H-back, tight end, lead blocker, or special teams contributor, both players bring unique value to the table.

Penelope Cruz seems to have it all, having more than enough talent and beauty to make it in Hollywood. And she has definitely clawed her way up from where she first started. Born in 1974 in Spain, Cruz was already marked as a gifted talent from a very young age. Cruz had a love for ballet dancing, and studied classical ballet for several years. Her decision to do dance is what helped her break into the acting world.
Cruz initially built her reputation as a talented actor in the Spanish film industry, gaining momentum when she starred in the Oscar-winning movie "The Age of Beauty." She starred in yet another Oscar-winning flick with 1999's "Todo Sobre Mi Madre," before deciding to break into Hollywood. To say the transition was successful would be an understatement, her star rising higher with films such as "Vanilla Sky" and "Woman on Top." But her role in "Vicky Christina Barcelona" is what truly made history, with Cruz being the first and only Spanish-born woman to take home an acting Oscar.
Throughout her career, Cruz has netted other Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. She has also continued to be involved in major productions, from 2018's "The ******* assination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story" to 2021's "Official Competition." But despite being immersed in the glamour and luxury of Hollywood for decades, Cruz knows there's more to feeling at peace with yourself than focusing on surface-level things. As such, we thought Cruz's quote was fitting to serve as our quote for the day.

On Tuesday, Aug. 18, Brooks Nader dropped a new 10-photo carousel on Instagram, where she showed off a sultry Roberto Cavalli ensemble that was a masterclass in Italian vacation fashion.
In the cover snapshot of the photo set, which she playfully captioned, "Sea ya ," the model and Love Thy Nader ran up a luxurious flight of wooden stairs in a silky, cream-colored slip dress by the aforementioned designer. The ready-to-wear piece was simultaneously timeless and on-trend, courtesy of its chic cut and semi-sheer paneling. Nader accessorized the style further with a coordinating pair of strappy sandals and oversized black sunglasses, adding extra sparkle with a glimmering ring, a bejeweled necklace and matching earrings.
The model looked over her shoulder as she moved upstairs, shooting the camera a cheeky smile for a dynamic final shot that looked like something plucked straight out of a 1950s fashion magazine. Her long, caramel-colored tresses were styled in lush, carefree waves that cascaded down the open back of the slinky dress, adding to the laid back, effortless look. Meanwhile, her makeup was a late-summer-friendly natural glam comprising matte skin, rosy cheeks and a beautiful glossy lip.
Other snapshots included in the vacation photo set further highlighted her designer duds, showing the reality TV star enjoying time on the water in Capri with her friends and family. Overall, the sleek ensemble had the pure glamour of a classic Italian film-and we weren't the only ones in love. "Will never get over these photos," model Kylie Vonnahme wrote in the comment section. Meanwhile, one fan also sensed some Old Hollywood energy, asking, "Anyone else getting Marilyn Monroe vibes? These pics are stunning ."
And August has proved to be a standout month in an already exceptional career year for Nader, as she's continued to add accolades to her incredible fashion rsum. For instance, earlier this month, Old Navy revealed that the model would be one of the faces of their fall denim campaign, posing alongside Grammy Award-winning recording artist Cardi B and popular influencer Haley Baylee.

NEW YORK/HONG KONG, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Taylor Swift's wedding dress remains under wraps. But wedding chain David's Bridal is already betting brides will want one just like it.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the reveal of the Christian Dior dress Swift wore at her ‌tightly controlled Madison Square Garden celebration on July 3. Meanwhile, the Hong Kong design team at David's Bridal, which owns roughly 200 stores across ‌the U.S., has already sketched about two dozen looks based on the pop star's likely aesthetics, with a focus on Hollywood glamour and drop-waist silhouettes, CEO Kelly Cook told Reuters.
Those preparations will help the brand "move very quickly when we have an idea of where the dress has landed," Cook explained. David's Bridal has already seen an uptick in searches for Swift-inspired designs on its website, which lists dresses ranging from hundreds of dollars to more than $3,000.
Designers say they will be looking out for elements of her outfit that could blossom into bridal fashion trends.

You've got actors, and then you have movie stars whose work makes us feel all the feels, transcends generations, and gets embedded into the cultural zeitgeist. Add in the dreaminess of Old Hollywood, and we couldn't be talking about anyone else but Audrey Hepburn. Still today, the Belgium-born actor is immediately recognizable courtesy of those big brown eyes, that sporty little pixie cut, and her sparkling, sophisticated charm. Hepburn started racking up credits in the early 1950s, scoring her breakout role in 1953's "Roman Holiday," which earned her a best actress Academy Award — and she'd keep working for nearly four decades. But her work isn't the only reason why she's such a legendary figure. There's also her fashion.
Beyond the work, Hepburn remains one of those pop culture style icons you should let influence your wardrobe. You could get lost for hours going through her old photographs, and notice that there's no shortage of iconic outfits in her wardrobe. Her best looks have withstood shifting trends no matter how much time has passed. No one would bat an eyelash if a stylish gal in the 2020s pulled on the checker print cigarette pants Hepburn wore in 1955 or the jewel-toned pink gown she wore to the 1992 Oscars.

In the 1950s, Audrey Hepburn posed for glamour shots — as she was known to do here and there — leaning against a tree and draped in a simply chic outfit that could work in any era. The "Funny Face" star was rocking a dark lip and her signature micro bangs, wearing a long-sleeved blouse that was wrapped and tied tight at the waist. She paired the top with a classic tea-length black shirt and popped on a pair of easy ballet flats that haven't gone anywhere in the decades since.

Every era has its beauty standards, each carrying through to the next generations as either kitsch or cool. The '80s have received their fair share of condemnation and celebration as either or, but there's a unique glamour that '80s soap opera divas, such as Morgan Fairchild, have translated to the decades since.
Although the Texas native got her start on television back in the '70s with hit series such as "Search for Tomorrow," "Happy Days," and "Mork & Mindy," the '80s brought about a fresh new decade of big opportunities (and even bigger hair). Alongside films such as "The Seduction" and "Pee-wee's Big Adventure," Fairchild also continued her career on TV with series like "Flamingo Road" and "Paper Dolls." However, some of her most iconic roles come from her nearly 30-year run on "General Hospital," as well as her stint as Chandler Bing's mom in "Friends." Still acting into her 70s, Fairchild also started her own podcast, "2 B****es From Texas," alongside sister Cathryn Hartt. You can still see traces of her signature '80s glam in her makeup, outfits, and hair today, having refined her taste and tweaked it to the times.
However, while Fairchild was undoubtedly one of the most fashionable actresses of the '80s, there were some looks that were a clear trial and error. Fashion taste fluctuates as our lives do, and as the "Shattered Illusions" star can attest through her own tragedies in life, not every moment can be a hit. Although incredibly rare, here are a few fashion flops from her heyday.

Oprah Winfrey once turned Diana Ross' storm-soaked Central Park concert into an unusually specific measure of success, owning diamond earrings as impressive as the pair flashing beneath the stage lights.
Winfrey, 72, revisited Ross' legendary 1983 performance for Glamour's "Girlhood Firsts" series after being asked about the first time she felt represented in the media.
She remembered Ross continuing to sing through torrential rain while her diamond earrings glittered and her mascara remained intact. Winfrey was so fascinated that she called Ross' production company the following day to ask what the singer had been wearing.
The answer sent Winfrey in pursuit of 10 carats of diamonds. She later discovered that Ross' earrings had actually been five carats, prompting the billionaire media mogul to joke that she "could've quit halfway through."
Winfrey described Ross as both her "inspiration and aspiration" while recalling the free concert on Central Park's Great Lawn. "Because if you all remember, there she is.

Photographs of the Prince and Princess of Wales with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, often look like they could have been taken for a Ralph Lauren catalogue. Whether on their Christmas card or at official occasions, the family exudes preppy glamour. So it felt entirely appropriate that three out of five members of the family sported clothing by the American label as they attended the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Saturday afternoon.
The Princess arrived to watch the netball semi-finals wearing an ensemble which might provide inspiration for anyone looking to master a smart-casual look this summer. The hero piece of the outfit was a new double-breasted blazer, the Camden cashmere design from Ralph Lauren Collection. According to the brand's website, the jacket "debuted as a men's sporting style in 19th-century Britain" and "is one of Ralph Lauren's enduring silhouettes". Notably, Ralph Lauren is the official outfitter of the Wimbledon Championships, where the Princess is royal patron.
While Catherine's forest green version isn't currently available to buy, the identical jacket in navy retails for £2,950 – a far cry from the Zara tailoring the Princess often wears. The rest of her look continued this upscale theme – she accessorised with diamond hoop earrings by Kiki McDonough, Gianvito Rossi shoes and an Anya Hindmarch handbag.

Another key element of the Princess's outfit was a striped top, a design that she has become synonymous with ever since joining the Royal family. Catherine, who is known as the ******* ss of Rothesay in Scotland, has worn Breton tops for polo matches and relaxed family engagements as well as in difficult moments, such as the video she released telling the world she had cancer in 2023. The design also reflects the sporty Hamptons aesthetic of Ralph Lauren.

A source told the outlet that distance and packed schedules made the relationship difficult to sustain, but added that the two "still remain close friends" who share "a deep love and respect for each other."
After the show, the two kept their relationship closely guarded. Carthen explained in a June 2026 Cosmopolitan interview: "When you really care about something, you keep it very sacred and close to you." Both had spoken openly about the stress of navigating public attention, with Vansteenberghe telling Glamour in December 2025 that it felt like they were "damned if you do, ***** ed if you don't" when it came to sharing their lives online.

Because Florence Pugh is one of Marvel's biggest current stars, and her character, Yelena Belova, plays a role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it wasn't much of a surprise to see her on the red carpet for the London premiere.

The British actress has been on an exceptional run of late, so I was delighted to see that continue in this Tamara Ralph Spring 2026 Couture dress.
Remember when I used to cry tears of frustration over Florence's red-carpet choices? Tonight, they were tears of joy as she glided onto the red carpet in this silver bugle-bead fringe gown with its dramatic winged neckline. I'll admit my mind initially wandered to Harris Reed, but Tamara Ralph's execution has a lighter, more fluid elegance, less theatrical feel.
A gown embellished with silver crystal Xilions hardly called for additional jewellery, yet her Bvlgari pieces, particularly the emerald earrings and matching ring, added another layer of glamour.

When Ted Lasso concluded with Season 3, it was written and marketed as the end of the story. Three years later, the Apple TV+ series is back with a new chapter as Ted returns to England to coach AFC Richmond Women's Team. The fresh premise reunites familiar faces including Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift alongside Jason Sudeikis, while introducing a host of new characters.
Juno Temple is usually sends me down an archival fashion rabbit hole, and more often than not it leads to Versace. This time, only the archival part remained true.
Her Roberto Cavalli Spring 2001 printed cowl-neck gown felt perfectly suited to her free-spirited style. Roberto Cavalli's collections from this era were defined by fluid silhouettes, exotic, psychedelic prints and unapologetically bold colour combinations that celebrated glamour. The turquoise, pink and lime palette captures everything that made early-2000s Cavalli so distinctive.

The football-shaped bag was exactly the playful finishing touch I expect from Juno.

If behind-the-scenes dirt on the skeletons in people's closets is your thing, get ready for Season 2 of VICE TV's "Dark Side of the Cage."
VICE Studios on Thursday announced a new seven-episode season of the show with a premiere set for Sept. 1 at 9 p.m. ET on VICE TV. The season premiere episode features UFC Hall of Famer Don Frye, "whose willingness to absorb brutality in the cage led to the fight of his life against pain and addiction."
Of particular interest to many, most likely, later in the season will be an episode featuring longtime fighter Phil Baroni, who remains in prison in Mexico on a charge of murder. A teaser video for the season shows a clip of a phone interview with Baroni and him saying his lawyers won't be happy he did the interview.
"From house-fire heroism to SWAT stand-offs to full-blown arena riots, season two of Dark Side of the Cage pulls back the curtain on MMA's most extreme highs and devastating lows," the official show pitch says. "'Dark Side of the Cage' cuts through the glamour and glory of the MMA spectacle to reveal the never-before-told stories behind the sport's most iconic competitors, told by the fighters themselves."
Other episodes, according to VICE TV, will feature ****** o Ortiz, Jason "Mayhem" Miller, Chael Sonnen and Mark Coleman. Additionally, the season "will shed new light on one of the most heated feuds in UFC history: Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov."
