Christopher Lambert canceled his planned return to Steel City Con after collapsing while meeting fans at the Pennsylvania convention one day earlier.
The 69-year-old Highlander star became ill while signing autographs at the Monroeville Convention Center outside Pittsburgh on August 8. A witness told TMZ that Lambert suddenly collapsed before he was transported from the convention by ambulance.
His representative later said Lambert was "perfectly OK" and resting at his hotel, attributing the episode to low blood sugar after the actor had slept poorly and eaten very little. Steel City Con separately said he had become overheated and dehydrated.
Organizers initially announced that Lambert would return on August 9 for photo opportunities and a panel. That plan changed shortly before his scheduled arrival, when the convention said he was still not feeling well and needed additional rest.
Lambert was signing autographs during the second day of Steel City Con when he became ill. According to TMZ, a witness said the actor suddenly collapsed and was then taken from the convention hall by ambulance.

Heim, though, is not your standard young part-time driver. The only thing he's gotten in the way of is allowing other people to win.
The Georgia native has jumped into the deep end of the NASCAR pool. He's made just 15 Cup Series starts and somehow turned those limited opportunities into maximum impact, winning twice.

NEW DELHI: With India's growing injury list putting the spotlight on the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE), its head VVS Laxman has pushed back against the scrutiny surrounding the Bengaluru-based facility, insisting that injuries are an unavoidable part of a cricketer's career and that the focus should be on monitoring players rather than finding scapegoats.

The CoE has come under increasing scrutiny in recent weeks amid concerns over rehabilitation timelines, fitness ******* sments and communication between its sports science team and the national selection committee. Several key players are currently dealing with injuries, with Jasprit ******* rah, Sai Sudharsan, Harshit Rana, Nitish ******* ar Reddy and Washington Sundar among those facing fitness concerns.

Laxman, however, defended the institution's broader role, stressing that it should not be reduced to a rehabilitation centre.

"CoE is not merely a rehab centre. There are bigger roles to play for it in helping cricketers achieve excellence," Laxman said at a press conference in Bengaluru on Sunday.

His comments come at a time when the CoE's injury-management programme is under renewed examination, particularly with India set to begin a crucial Test series against Sri Lanka on August 15.
Laxman also refused to attribute India's injury problems to any individual or department, arguing that injuries are an inherent part of professional sport.

"Injuries are part and parcel of any player's career. That's why monitoring system is very critical. And we don't use the term blame then we will be trying to find scapegoats," he said.

The CoE chief pointed towards the facility's monitoring systems and the measures being used to ******* s players continuously, rather than relying solely on conventional fitness tests.

"Yo Yo test cannot be done when a player is part of the series, so we have introduced Bronco test by Adrian, so that the fitness can be monitored continously," Laxman said.

He cited ******* rah and Sudharsan as examples of players whose fitness was ******* sed through multiple parameters before decisions were made on their availability.

"Jasprit ******* rah and B Sai Sudharsan were picked as subject to fitness. We move them from one parameter to other before giving the clearance to play. The communication between CoE and team management is quite seamless," he added.

The comments are significant given the uncertainty that has surrounded the availability of both ******* rah and Sudharsan for the Sri Lanka Tests.

Both players were initially included in India's squad subject to fitness, but the CoE's medical and sports science experts ultimately opted for caution after ******* sing their respective conditions.

CHENNAI: Australia have decided against playing a practice game ahead of next year's highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India. Tony Dodemaide, who is managing Australia's development squad that is currently training in Chennai, and is also part of the national selection group alongside George Bailey and Andrew McDonald, explained that the tight international schedule leaves little room for a conventional warm-up fixture.

Australia's fourth Test against New Zealand is scheduled to finish on Jan 8, while the first Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy is slated to begin on Jan 21.

"It gets over about 10 days before the first (Test) here...So we're playing Test cricket, as soon as the game finishes, we get on a plane and come here and have practice, and then straight into the first Test," Dodemaide told TOI on the sidelines of an event.

However, he added that players who are not part of the playing XI for the final Test against New Zealand will arrive in India early to get accustomed to the conditions. "We need to win the Test match against New Zealand. But the players in the touring squad who aren't playing in that Test will come early to get more acclimatised," he said.

The five match Test series will begin in Nagpur before moving to Chennai, Guwahati, Ranchi and Ahmedabad.

The Aussie pace department may still be relying on the experience of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat ******* mins, but Dodemaide said the next generation of pacemen is not too far behind. "Scott Boland, Michael Nesser and Brendan Doggett have been really good for us, while we have some very exciting talent coming through. Jhye Richardson, Lance Morris and Xavier Bartlett have also played some one-day cricket for us."

Among the younger crop, Dodemaide pointed to Sheffield Shield performers Nathan McAndrew, Lance Morris and Fergus O'Neill, "The challenge for our bowlers back home this summer is to set themselves apart to be the next players to come through," he said.

Dodemaide also highlighted the importance of Australia's current development camp in India, particularly for their young spinners. The squad has been brought to India specifically to experience conditions that are difficult to replicate back home.

"In Australia, we can't replicate the very dry, red soil and spin conditions. We don't have the same soil types and find it very difficult to get pitches that are dry at home. But it's not just the playing conditions. It's the Indian experience, the heat, the crowds, the crowded places. If these players come back to play for Australia, they'll have all of that to deal with. This gives them familiarity and allows us to see how they respond to that challenge," he added.

Players like Joel Davies, Jason Sangha, Lloyd Pope and Hugh Weibgen are part of the squad. Dodemaide said the presence of several young players reflects Australia's belief in their potential. "The younger the players are, the more uncertain it is. But through the Under-19s,

The conventional view of the Hormuz crisis is that China has been caught in an energy trap. It is the world's largest crude importer, the Gulf remains one of its most important sources of supply, and an estimated 45–50% of Chinese crude imports normally transit the Strait of Hormuz. When traffic through the strait slows, Beijing cannot simply replace all those barrels overnight. That vulnerability is real. But it is also incomplete.
China entered this crisis with large strategic and commercial inventories, diversified suppliers and the ability to suppress refinery runs. More importantly, it entered with something previous oil-importing economies did not have during earlier supply shocks: a rapidly electrifying transport system already removing more than one million barrels per day of potential oil demand.
Strategic reserves buy time. Electrification changes the balance permanently.
The missing 1.35 million barrels per day
In the first half of 2026, China's electric vehicle fleet displaced an estimated 34 million tonnes of oil. Using a standard conversion for crude-equivalent volumes, that is around 1.35 million barrels per day, more than 1% of total global oil consumption.

At Akron's football home opener against Robert Morris, one Zips season-ticker holder will get to draw up the team's opening drive. That's due to an unconventional promotion by the school: Purchase season tickets to enter a random drawing to script the first offensive play on Sept. 12.
The stunt has gone viral, with the initial X/Twitter post of the Zips' offer garnering more than 16 million views in the first 24 hours. But beyond its social media splash, the promotion has become a major ticket-sale success story for Akron football.
Since the announcement on Aug 4, the school has sold out suite inventory for the first time in program history, and surged past annual ticket sales goals with weeks to go before kickoff, according to Akron's senior deputy AD and COO Matt Pottorff.
"We've had an awesome, awesome 24 hours, but we're just getting started," he told Front Office Sports. "It's going to be like a tsunami."

The Florida Gators made finalizations to their roster for the upcoming season ahead of Wednesday's fall camp, adding seven players since the end of spring camp in April.
The Gators brought in five freshmen who can help on both sides of the ball: wide receiver Mason Jordan, defensive linemen Stive-Bentley Keumajou-Yondui and Jayden Gross, safety Eric Parks Jr. and long snapper Lincoln Anderson. The program also brought in two transfers, who are both fairly unconventional: tight end Jaylen Jordon and cornerback Javier Jones, who round out the summer acquisitions for Florida.
The Coral Gables, Florida, product was a surprise addition to the 2026 roster. The defensive tackle was originally in the 2027 recruiting class for Florida but reclassified ahead of July 31.
Keumajou-Yondui is a unique prospect — he moved to the United States from England in 2025 and decided to sign with Florida over Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Texas, and Texas A&M, among others. The 6-foot-3-inch, 295-pound prospect was rated a three-star recruit by 247Sports.
The Gators continued the in-state recruiting by bringing in Parks and Jordan. Parks played at Tampa Bay Tech, along with current Gators wideout Dallas Wilson. Parks is a 6-foot, 193-pound three-star who recorded 115 tackles with 15 for loss, two interceptions, and six defended passes over 37 varsity games.

Samsung said on July 30 that memory shortages could worsen in 2027 and persist through 2028. The warning strengthened the pricing outlook for Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) while exposing a potential supply constraint for NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA). Micron shares jumped 18.4% that day as Samsung's report revived confidence in the memory cycle.
Samsung has signed supply agreements with the five largest global data-center companies and is nearing deals with five more. It aims to place about two-thirds of its longer-term memory output under contracts lasting at least five years, typically with upfront payments and price floors. Customers are paying for supply certainty before new fabrication capacity can materially relieve the shortage. Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) has already moved in the same direction. On June 24, it disclosed 16 strategic customer agreements covering roughly 20% of its DRAM volume and one-third of its NAND volume through 2030. The agreements contain take-or-pay commitments, while the largest generally include floor prices that Micron says would protect gross margins above previous cycle peaks.
The other side of scarcity runs through Nvidia's systems. On March 16, Micron said it had begun volume shipments of HBM4 designed for Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform. Advanced memory must arrive alongside processors, packaging, and networking components before demand can become completed systems. Tight HBM allocations could therefore slow shipments even when accelerator orders remain strong. NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) has some protection through multiple suppliers. Samsung counts Nvidia among its HBM customers and expects its HBM4 revenue to more than triple in the third quarter, which could make the constraint manageable.

The data supports staying constructive on Micron, although the 18.4% jump makes chasing the stock less attractive. Long-term commitments give Micron more pricing visibility than in previous memory cycles, while scarcity could strengthen prices on uncontracted output. The limitation is that HBM, conventional DRAM, and NAND can loosen at different rates, and new capacity or better manufacturing yields could weaken pricing before 2028. For Nvidia, the shortage warrants monitoring but does not justify a bearish shift. It threatens deployment timing more directly than demand, and supplier diversification reduces the risk that one producer becomes a single point of failure.

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Eagles' increased use of under-center formations does not mean they are abandoning the run-pass option concepts that have helped Jalen Hurts throughout his career. Offensive coordinator Sean Mannion believes both approaches can remain part of the offense, with their usage determined by matchups, game situations and what opposing defenses present each week.
"I think there's definitely room for both," Mannion said. "A lot of it is just dependent on week by week or situationally."
Philadelphia displayed several under-center play-action looks during the opening week of training camp. Those formations could help create varied rushing angles for Saquon Barkley while giving Hurts opportunities to attack defenses with play action. Operating under center can also make Philadelphia's intentions less obvious. The Eagles can run the football, use conventional play-action or build movement passes from similar formations. That forces linebackers and safeties to process more information after the snap.
Hurts has traditionally done some of his best work from the shotgun, where his ability to read defenders powers Philadelphia's zone-read and RPO packages. Mannion does not view adding under-center concepts as an either-or decision. Instead, the Eagles want enough variety to select the approach that best attacks each opponent. Some defenses may be vulnerable to play-action from under center. Others may struggle to account for Hurts as an additional runner from shotgun formations.
"There's a lot of different things that come up throughout the game from one week to the next, things you're seeing from the defense," Mannion said. "To have all those different elements in your back pocket, I think there's room for many different things."

Coinbase's own Base network already supports the development of AI agents. Armstrong believes those agents will eventually "need to hold funds and pay for things on their own" and "raise or borrow money for new projects they are undertaking." By doing so, they can serve as financial advisors and automate tax planning, portfolio rebalancing, and bill-paying tasks. They can also pay for other on-demand cloud and AI services to complete their own workflows.
Therefore, AI agents could operate independently and pay one another using cryptocurrencies rather than going through conventional banks. If that happens, cryptocurrencies would become a foundational layer of the agentic AI market.

LOS ANGELES — Brayan Bello has spent his entire professional life on a five-day routine. That was the case in each of the last three seasons, in which he made at least 28 starts for the Red Sox, and even in a tough first three months of this season despite sometimes pitching behind an opener.
The past few weeks, though, have brought something new for Bello: long layoffs and randomly placed outings along the way. After making his fourth start at Triple-A Worcester on July 1, he was held out of pitching until July 12, when he returned to the majors with a 4 ⅓ inning relief outing at Citi Field. Ten days later, he relieved Eduardo Rivera at Fenway and gave the Red Sox a 5 ⅓ inning appearance in a loss to Baltimore. On Friday — after a nine-day layoff — he returned to the mound again and pitched the final four innings of a 9-4 win over the Dodgers.
It's not a conventional role for a former rotation stalwart who signed a $55 million extension two years ago and just last fall started Game 2 of a playoff series at Yankee Stadium. But it's one that has worked for Bello, who owns a 0.66 ERA in 13 ⅔ innings since returning to the big leagues, allowing one earned run on nine hits in that span while posting a 13-to-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
"He's thrown great in the outings he's had since he has been back," said interim manager Chad Tracy.
After yet another disastrous first inning on June 4 against the Orioles, the Red Sox sent Bello (and his 6.34 ERA) to the minors for an optional ******* ignment that would have been unthinkable during a breakout 2025 season. The goal was to get him in a rhythm and work on getting right away from the pressure of the major leagues.

Amazon reported better-than-expected second-quarter earnings on Thursday, and investors loved what they saw. Net sales rose 20%, and cloud revenue stood out as a particular bright spot. This combination of positive results was enough to send Amazon's stock up nearly 10% in after-hours trading.
Crucially, Amazon isn't slowing down on data center spending, despite the conventional wisdom that investors want companies to rein it in.
One line item, in particular, illustrates Amazon's appetite for investing in infrastructure. Amazon spent $173 billion for the fiscal year ended June 30 on property and equipment — a category that covers GPUs, natural gas turbines, and plots of land — up from $107.65 billion from the year before.
It also raised its 2026 capex forecast from $200 billion to $220 billion — even as it has begun dipping into its cash reserves to help cover the cost. The company ended the quarter with $7.6 billion less cash than it had 12 months ago, marking its first period of negative free cash flow this year.
Under normal circumstances, ballooning expenses would be a tough pill for investors to swallow. But Amazon has a revenue engine that helps justify the spending. AWS revenue rose 37% year over year, clocking $42 billion for the quarter. That's not enough to balance out the capex spending in raw arithmetic, but it shows that demand is growing alongside supply. Given the years-long time lag between breaking ground on a data center and selling its capacity, that's reassuring for investors.
