Angel Reese broke another WNBA record in the Atlanta Dream's 96-82 victory over the Phoenix Mercury.
Reese contributed 14 points, 10 rebounds and four ******* ists as the Dream climbed to fourth in the league standings.
The 24-year-old is one of the WNBA's most polarising players, as she regularly draws attention both on and off the court.
Reese is often trolled online for her mistakes, such as missed open layups, but she remains a key player for the Dream.
Perhaps the three-time All-Star's latest WNBA record will quiet her critics for a short while.

NEW DELHI: Fresh from becoming the highest run-scorer in men's T20 cricket, England star Jos **** ler has already named the player he believes could eventually take the record away from him — 15-year-old Indian batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

Buttler scripted history on Wednesday during Manchester Super Giants' emphatic nine-wicket win over Welsh Fire in The Hundred, smashing an unbeaten 51 off just 20 **** to surpass West Indies legend Kieron Pollard and climb to the top of the all-time T20 run charts.

But while celebrating the milestone, the England wicketkeeper-batter looked to the future and singled out Sooryavanshi as the player most likely to rewrite history.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, **** ler admitted the achievement was special but acknowledged that records are meant to be broken.

"It's really cool, actually, to think you've got the most T20 runs out of anyone. Someone will surpass it one day - and his name's probably [Vaibhav] Sooryavanshi - but it's a proud moment," **** ler said.

The praise comes after Sooryavanshi's meteoric rise over the past year. The teenage prodigy recently starred in India's 3-0 T20I series sweep over Zimbabwe, scoring 151 runs in three matches to claim his maiden Player of the Series award.

Earlier this year, he had also lit up the ICC Men's Under-19 Cricket World Cup, amassing 439 runs to finish as the tournament's leading scorer and earn the Player of the Tournament honour, further cementing his reputation as one of world cricket's brightest young talents.
The record-breaking moment came in spectacular fashion at Old Trafford. Chasing 156, **** ler hammered two fours and six sixes in his unbeaten 20-ball 51, reaching the landmark by launching Marco Jansen for three consecutive sixes.

The knock took **** ler to 14,833 runs in 522 T20 matches, surpassing Pollard's 14,803 runs in 746 games. Former West Indies superstar Chris Gayle, who held the record for years, now sits third with 14,562 runs in 463 matches.

Reflecting on the achievement, **** ler admitted he would have preferred to break the record a game earlier when Pollard was present in the opposition camp.

"We played against MI London last game and it would have been nice to get past Polly while he was there, sat in the dugout, but there's some great names on there, some special players, so I'm really proud of that," **** ler said.
132987653
On the field, Tim Seifert's unbeaten 62 and **** ler's fireworks powered Manchester Super Giants to 161/1 in just 69 **** , chasing down Welsh Fire's 155/4 with 31 **** to spare and ending a three-match losing streak.

There is a difference between becoming a champion and learning how to carry yourself like one.
Notre Dame had already climbed the mountain in 1988, finishing a perfect season with a national championship and establishing itself once again among college football's elite. But championships do not buy much patience the following fall. If anything, they make the target bigger. Every opponent wants to be the one that knocks off the defending champion, every close call becomes evidence of vulnerability, and every week brings another test of whether the magic of the year before can somehow survive.
By November 18, 1989, Notre Dame had answered every one of those questions.
The Irish arrived at Penn State 10–0, ranked No. 1 in the country and riding a 22-game winning streak that stretched all the way back to the beginning of their championship season. Yet Beaver Stadium represented something Notre Dame still had not conquered. The Irish had played there four times and lost all four, including a painful 21–20 defeat in 1987 that helped extinguish their national championship hopes.
This time, Notre Dame arrived as the team everyone else was trying to derail.

Pakistan climbed one place in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points table after beating the West Indies by eight wickets in the second Test in Trinidad. The win helped Pakistan level the two-match series 1-1 and move above the West Indies in the standings.

Earlier, Pakistan had slipped to the bottom of the table after losing the opening Test. They now have two wins from six matches and a points percentage (PCT) of 22.22.
Pakistan also ended their eight-match away losing streak in Test cricket with the victory.

Chasing a target of 77, Pakistan reached 77/2 shortly after lunch on Day 4. Abdullah Shafique, who scored a century in the first innings, remained unbeaten on 24 along with captain Babar Azam, who also finished on 24 not out.

Babar sealed the win by hitting back-to-back sixes off left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican.

West Indies had won the first Test by 90 runs in Tarouba, but Pakistan bounced back strongly in the second match. Spinners Sajid Khan and Ali Usman made the most of the conditions at Queen's Park Oval as Pakistan remained unbeaten in a Test series against the West Indies since 2000.
1. Australia (1st): Australia remain at the top of the World Test Championship standings. They have won seven of their eight matches, lost one, collected 84 points and have the best Points Percentage (PCT) of 87.50.

2. South Africa (2nd): South Africa are second with three wins and one defeat in four matches. They have 36 points and a PCT of 75.00.

3. New Zealand (3rd): New Zealand are third after winning four of their six Tests. They have one loss and one draw, with 52 points and a PCT of 72.22.

Gianni Infantino's position as Fifa president is verging on untenable as member **** ociations begin to withdraw their support for his re-election following his disastrously botched bid to privatise the World Cup.
Infantino planned to sell off stakes in the World Cup to private investors under the Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE), but this was met with intense backlash from football federations, with Uefa threatening to boycott Fifa tournaments if the plans were passed.
The response forced a climbdown from the Swiss-Italian but that is far from the end of the story. Many footballing bodies say they have "lost confidence" in Infantino as president, with the Asian Football Confederation calling for an "urgent review of [Fifa's] governance".
And now Infantino has summoned senior Fifa officials to a crisis meeting with a number of his allies dwindling after Fifa's secretary general Mattias Grafstrom's criticism, while the president of the Jordan FA publicly accused Infantino of "blackmail".
Before he eventually scrapped the plans, senior figures inside Fifa turned on the president. Infantino's long-term adviser, Carlos Cordeiro, chose to quit in protest over the initial proposals, while Fifa's chief operating officer said that Infantino "deceived" staff over his plans.

What do you do when you look up and realize that a rival has almost completely stolen your pre-IPO thunder? You ask private equity to justify a silly huge valuation, of course.
Polymarket is reportedly in talks for a fresh fundraising round that would value the company north of $20 billion, according to Bloomberg. If it closes, this would be the second markup in four months. Polymarket previously raised money all the way back in April at a $15 billion valuation, a round that included a $600 million direct investment from Intercontinental Exchange, the company that owns the New York Stock Exchange. That was already a lot of institutional money betting that betting on the future is itself a good bet.
Polymarket told CNBC in late June that its annualized revenue had climbed well above $1 billion following the May launch of its regulated U.S. exchange. Volume backs that up: north of $100 million in daily notional volume domestically, up from roughly $75 million at the end of May, with the international platform running above $150 million a day.

Turns out the safest bet in toys right now isn't a toy at all. It's a piece of cardboard with a cartoon monster on it. Asmodee just proved that trading cards are quietly the best business in the building, better margins, more heat, more staying power than anything with a board and a rulebook attached. Investors bought in for CATAN. They're staying for the booster packs.
Asmodee shares jumped to a record high after a first-quarter earnings beat that had Pokémon doing most of the heavy lifting.
Net sales rose 20.9% to €422.1 million (about $486.2 million), ahead of expectations near €404 million, with organic growth just over 20%, meaning this wasn't acquisitions doing the work. Trading card games led the way, up 23.1% to €285 million on demand for Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, One Piece and a run of newer ****** les. Board games grew 16% to €103 million, helped by evergreen franchises like CATAN and Dobble, new releases and expansions, plus a contribution from recently acquired ATM Gaming.
Profitability outran sales. Adjusted EBITDA climbed 55% to €61.9 million from €39.9 million, and the margin expanded to 14.7% from 11.4%. EBIT rose to €40.5 million, and profit attributable to shareholders swung to €17 million from a €1.6 million loss a year earlier. Shares rose as much as 10% on the news.

It is not often that TSMC (TSM) takes cues from Intel (INTC), but that is undoubtedly what's happening. According to The Information, the world's largest contract chipmaker is quietly building a new packaging technology modeled on Intel's EMIB. TSMC's own engineers are reportedly calling the project "EMIB-like" in-house. The company is developing it with a Taiwanese substrate maker, Kinsus Interconnect Technology. Following the report, TSMC's U.S.-listed shares rose about 8%, while Intel climbed roughly 11% on July 30. For a company that usually defines the industry's direction, TSMC borrowing ideas from Intel is worth a closer look.
The fight is all about how chips get packaged. TSMC's main method, CoWoS, uses a large and expensive silicon layer to link chips together. Intel's EMIB takes a leaner route, embedding tiny silicon bridges only where the chips actually connect. That makes it cheaper and potentially better suited to the increasingly large AI chip designs. The timing makes this sting more for the Taiwanese company. TSMC's CoWoS is sold out into 2027, with some customers waiting well over a year. That backlog is pushing buyers to look for alternate suppliers, and Intel is ready. Its newest version, EMIB-T, recently hit a 98% yield rate, matching CoWoS in that metric, and has already drawn interest from Google (GOOG) (GOOGL), Amazon (AMZN), and Nvidia (NVDA). Every customer who leaves over the wait chips away at TSMC's lead.

The Institute for Supply Management said its manufacturing PMI rose to 55.6 in July, up 2.3 percentage points from June's 53.3 and the highest reading since May 2022, when the index hit 55.9. The sector has now expanded for seven consecutive months following a 10-month contraction. Readings above 50 indicate growth.
Economists had forecast the index would rise to 54.0, according to Yahoo Finance.
The production index drove much of the gain, jumping 6.3 percentage points to 58.5 — its highest level since November 2021. After 33 months in contraction, the employment index crossed above 50 for the first time, climbing to 52.8 from June's 49.7. New orders grew for a seventh straight month, with the New Orders Index edging up to 56.7 from 56.0. The Backlog of Orders Index rose 4.5 percentage points to 55.0, and the New Export Orders Index returned to expansion at 53.0, its highest since March 2022.
Susan Spence, chair of the ISM Manufacturing Business Survey Committee, said the July result reflected broad-based momentum, with four of five PMI subindexes growing at a faster rate than in June. "My gut is, it's not just a one or two month trend," Spence told Bloomberg. "Companies are seeing six or more months of these solid demand factors going in the right direction."
Fifteen of the 16 manufacturing industries ISM monitors expanded during the month, with Chemical Products alone reporting a contraction.

On Sunday, it took Chelsea Green a little more than 11 seconds to climb a purposefully placed ladder and retrieve the WWE Women's Championship. In those 11 seconds, with tens of thousands of fans frantically cheering her on, Green completed one of the most unlikely rises in recent memory and upended the perceived hierarchy in WWE.
In her mind, it felt like a lot longer.
"The minute that Jade [Cargill] and Charlotte [Flair], and Lash [Legend] and Tiffany [Stratton] took those last ******* ps off the ladders, I felt the entire stadium rumbling," Green told Uncrowned. "When I opened my eyes and I looked left and right, the feeling was incredible. I get chills just thinking about it now. There was this energy that I've never felt in my entire career, and I hope I can bottle it up and take it with me for the rest of my life.
"I know I scurried up there very quickly, but to me, it felt like it took 13 years to climb that ladder."
Green's wrestling career began in 2014, working for myriad promotions before eventually landing in WWE full-time in 2018. Signed under the NXT brand, Green suffered a broken wrist in her televised debut in 2019 before working her way up to the main roster in 2020. In what became an unfortunate trend, Green again suffered a broken wrist in her televised "SmackDown" debut. She was subsequently released by WWE early in 2021.

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off their worst season in over a decade. 2025 was not only the first losing season of the Patrick Mahomes era, but it was also the first losing season for head coach Andy Reid since joining the organization in 2013. Finishing 6-11, the Chiefs lost eight of their final nine games in 2025, including losses to division rivals the Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, and Los Angeles Chargers.
There were a lot of factors that played into the Chiefs' disappointing 2025 campaign. Like the fact that the Chiefs' pass rush was exclusively found on a milk carton, or the absence of any hint of explosiveness at the running back position.
Kansas City's season was already in the trash heap by the time Mahomes tore his ACL in the Week 15 loss to the Chargers. Still, there is no doubt that Mahomes' injury is when things went from bad to a dumpster fire.
For a team that appeared in three straight Super Bowls from 2022-2024 (winning two of them), 2025's fall from grace was a stark reminder that in today's NFL, the fate of a franchise is constantly ebbing and flowing. As hard as the climb to the top is, the fall from grace is twice as sudden and ******* py on the way down.
If the Chiefs want to climb out of the AFC West cellar and improve on last season's third-place finish, they need to be more balanced on offense and find a way to get to the opposing quarterback.

SpaceX reported AI revenue that more than tripled from a year earlier and disclosed several new cloud computing agreements, even as quarterly capital spending on AI climbed to $15.8 billion.

President Gianni Infantino held emergency talks with other FIFA directors in Morocco on Wednesday, a source told AFP, amid a wave of criticism over his now shelved plan to open the World Cup to private investment.
Infantino has come under increasing pressure, even from within FIFA, over his handling of the proposal, and calls for him to step down have grown since he abandoned it last Saturday.
One of those believed to be at the meeting is FIFA's secretary-general Mattias Grafstrom, whose internal email to staff criticising the plan was leaked on Tuesday.
Infantino, a 56-year-old Swiss lawyer -- who is holding the meeting in FIFA's Africa regional office in Sale close to Rabat -- was in Morocco to celebrate last week's Feast of the Enthronement.
Morocco is to co-host the 2030 World Cup and Moroccan Football chief Fouzi Lekjaa is one of the few to have publicly supported Infantino since the humiliating climbdown.

Investors added $191.3 billion to US-listed ETFs in July, pushing year-to-date inflows toward $1.3 trillion.
The AI trade stayed volatile through the month, but the broader stock market held near all-time highs. Bonds went the other way, with the 30-year Treasury yield climbing to a 19-year high.
By category, US equity ETFs led the way with $75 billion of inflows. International equity ETFs followed with almost $46 billion, then US fixed income with more than $39 billion. Leveraged ETFs took in $10.5 billion, and alternatives gathered $6.3 billion.
At the individual fund level, the usual broad-market suspects sat at the top. The Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) picked up nearly $20 billion, followed by the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) with $14 billion and the SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF (SPYM) with more than $8 billion.
Outside of the big broad-market US funds, AI-fueled ETFs dominated. The iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) picked up $6.9 billion, the Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X Shares (SOXL) added $6.9 billion, the Roundhill Memory ETF (DRAM) took in $6.2 billion, the iShares MSCI South Korea ETF (EWY) gathered $4.8 billion, and the VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) brought in $4.5 billion.

Microsoft's growth story is undeniable, but its latest earnings call revealed the one question that truly matters: who is paying for the large AI buildout, and what happens if they stop?
After a year of underperforming the S&P 500, Microsoft (MSFT) stock has been climbing again, powered by an AI narrative that seems unstoppable. But on its latest earnings call, the real story was not the impressive growth, but the large spending required to generate it. The entire Q&A session circled one central question: with the company investing at a historic pace, is the return on that capital both real and defensible?
The justification for the spending spree starts with Azure's stunning growth. Azure's revenue grew 43% this quarter, a figure that prompted ***** ysts to probe the underlying drivers. Management's response was clear: the growth is real, and it is constrained by supply, not demand. The company stated that "Customer demand continues to exceed available capacity." In fact, the better-than-expected results were partly driven by engineering teams getting more out of the existing infrastructure and bringing new capacity online faster. Every efficiency gain, the CFO noted, was "quickly monetized" because the demand was already there waiting. This paints a picture of a company racing to build factories for a product that sells before it even hits the shelf.
If the demand is so strong, what is the risk? That was the core of the sharpest challenge of the call, a direct question about the danger of overbuilding and the pressure of rising component prices. The concern is that Microsoft is spending billions on a gold rush, and could be left with expensive, empty data centers if demand normalizes. Management's answer focused on flexibility. The CFO explained that the majority of capital spending is on "short-lived ***** ets" like CPUs and GPUs, not the buildings themselves. If the demand environment changes, the company can simply slow down orders for those components. The response was a direct attempt to reframe the large CapEx number from a fixed risk to a variable, manageable cost. It was a solid, logical answer, though the real test of that flexibility has yet to come.
In the end, management projects confidence, guiding for another year of double-digit revenue and operating income growth. The adoption of services like Microsoft 365 Copilot, which now has over 30 million paid seats, supports that optimism. We recently looked at what investors are paying for at these levels in a separate piece. But the company also gave a crucial tell in its own guidance: for the full fiscal year, operating margins are expected to be "down less than 1 point." That single data point acknowledges the pressure from this investment cycle. The thing to watch next quarter is that margin figure. If it holds steady, it means the company is successfully navigating the costs of its AI ambition. If it slips, the question of who pays for all this will get much louder.

Palantir blew past Wall Street's financial targets in its second quarter and forecast strong growth in the coming months, sending its stock surging 13% in after-hours trading on Monday.
Revenue in the three months ended June 30 increased 93% year over year, totaling $1.94 billion, compared with the $1.801 billion that ***** ysts were expecting. The AI software company posted net income of roughly $1.1 billion, or 41 cents per share, versus the average ***** yst estimate of 35 cents.
Palantir's growth was fueled by continued strength in the U.S., where commercial revenue jumped 149% from a year earlier and government revenue climbed 90%.
"Our business is compounding at a rate and scale that we have never before witnessed," Palantir CEO Alex Karp said in a letter to shareholders, noting that Palantir's second-quarter net income was more than the company generated in total revenue the year before.
The AI software company also issued another bullish outlook. Palantir expects third-quarter revenue of $2.160 billion to $2.164 billion and adjusted income from operations of $1.292 billion to $1.296 billion. It also raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to between $8.150 billion and $8.158 billion, up from its start-of-year forecast of $7.182 billion to $7.198 billion.
