California hired Tosh Lupoi to be its new head football coach, bringing the former Oregon defensive coordinator back to his alma mater. It hasn't taken him long to get the Golden Bears on the right track from a recruiting standpoint.
Doing its best to go toe-to-toe with the best in its state and the ACC, Cal currently has the No. 21 class in the 2027 Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. As of Aug. 6, it has 25 total commits, including 11 four-stars.
To no surprise, the in-state trail has served Cal well. It has commitments from five of the top 25 prospects in the Golden State and 16 in-state prospects overall. The headliner is a top-100 overall recruit in Westlake Village (Calif.) Westlake four-star wide receiver Charles Davis.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pounder leads what looks like one of the best pass-catching quartets in the nation. Davis, Sacramento Grant Union four-star tight end Rahzario Edwards, Westlake four-star WR Demare Dezuern and Honolulu (Hi.) Mililani four-star WR Zion White are the four highest-ranked commits in the class.
Sutter (Calif.) four-star EDGE Troy Bowens is the top-ranked commit on the defensive side of the ball. His pledge came in March and was an early catalyst for the Bears as they began to stack recruiting wins throughout the spring.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have developed their team over the decades via the usual ways most teams in the NBA have, finding special success through the NBA draft since their founding as the Seattle SuperSonics. Many of the franchise's top players have joined the team either through direct selections in the annual draft or via trades executed on that day.
On top of this, the Thunder have selected not only several star players through the draft but also a number of notable alumni each offseason. A few colleges have been more prominently represented than others in sourcing those prospects, though OKC has always cast a wide net as well. Both prestigious programs and smaller institutions have consistently contributed high-caliber talent to the Thunder's roster over the years.
So without further ado, let's take a look at every player who has been drafted by the Thunder out of Auburn.
Draft year and position: 6th round (7th pick, 122nd overall), 1981 NBA Draft

Intermediate 50/70 Baseball World Series schedule 2026: Scores, times, channels to watch every game originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The 12th annual Intermediate 50/70 Baseball World Series begins on Sunday, Aug. 2, commencing an eight-day slate of action from Livermore, California.
Players in the Intermediate Division range from ages 11 to 13, one step up from Little League's Majors division and one step below Junior League.
The 50/70 name comes from its field setup: a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths, larger than the standard Little League diamond but still smaller than the 60-foot-6-inch, 90-foot dimensions used at the Junior and Senior League levels.
Last year, Flor Amarillo Little League of Valencia, Venezuela defeated Central East Maui Little League of Wailuku, Hawaii for the tournament ****** le, giving Latin America its first Intermediate 50/70 championship. Neither squad returns for 2026, as a new 12-team field looks to make its mark in Livermore.

Former New England Patriots linebacker Jahlani Tavai has found a new home in the NFL this summer.
On Thursday, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced they have signed the veteran defender. The Detroit Lions selected Tavai with the No. 43 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He played for the Lions from 2019-20 before signing with the Patriots in 2021.
Tavai started in 51 of the 76 games that he played for New England during his time with the team. He recorded 42 total tackles, including four tackles for loss, as well as a forced fumble in his final season with the Patriots in 2025, prior to being cut and entering free agency.
The California native now joins the Jaguars in the midst of the team's training camp this summer. Tavai approaches his age-30 season in the NFL with Jacksonville in 2026.
The Jaguars waived linebacker Jared Bartlett with an injury designation in a corresponding move.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Southern California starting center Kilian O'Connor will miss the upcoming season due to injury.
Head coach Lincoln Riley announced O'Connor's injury Thursday at USC's new $225 million Bloom Football Performance Center. Riley wasn't specific about the nature of O'Connor's setback, only calling it a non-contact "freak injury" that required surgery.
"Tough one for us, I think more than anything from an emotional standpoint," Riley said.
O'Connor started seven games last season as a redshirt junior in his first year on scholarship at USC. He was expected to anchor the Trojans' offensive line again this fall in his fifth year in the program.
USC had hoped to return its entire starting offensive line from last season's 9-4 team, but O'Connor's injury will prevent it. Riley has said the Trojans have more depth on their offensive line than at any other point in his five-year tenure.

El SEGUNDO, Calif. -- The Chargers' second day in pads took place Thursday morning at The Bolt and featured more live-play situations, along with one-on-one reps between the offensive and defensive lines.
Right off the bat, left tackle Rashawn Slater, who left the first padded practice on Tuesday, warmed up with the team and played a couple of snaps at left tackle during 11-on-11. He rotated with Trey Pipkins and Branson Taylor.
Taylor saw the most reps at left guard with the first-team offensive line in front of quarterback Justin Herbert. In fact, he took all of the reps unless he was moved to left tackle. The Chargers might like the growth they have seen from his rookie year until now, which could explain why he is seeing consistent playing time.
Kayode Awosika stepped in at left guard when Taylor moved to left tackle. When Trey Lance was at quarterback, the offensive line in front of him consisted of Pipkins, Awosika, Jake Slaughter, Trevor Penning and Logan Taylor.
The offensive line did a better job during 11-on-11 on Thursday than it did during the first padded practice.

In July 2025, the Development Centers in Rondônia, in Porto Velho, Tocantins, in Palmas, and Amapá, in Macapá, were inaugurated. Last week, Serra, in Espírito Santo, had its structure officially opened.
The Development Centers were funded by the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 Legacy Fund and allocated to the 15 states that were not host cities for the tournament in the country, as a way of promoting sports and social development in each locality and as a legacy of Brazil having hosted the World Cup.

After an off day on Wednesday, the Dallas Cowboys were back in action Thursday afternoon, conducting their sixth practice of training camp out in Oxnard, California. With the pads coming on at the start of the week, we've seen the intensity rise over the last few practices.
While the Cowboys' first preseason game is still over a week away, this week of practice seems to be an indication that Dallas is ready to roll as we inch closer to the preseason opener. It's not always easy to separate yourself during training camp, but we've seen a few players do just that early on.
One guy who has been as impressive as any player in Oxnard is free agent acquisition Cobie Durant. The 27-year-old cornerback, who signed a one-year, $4M deal back in March to join the Cowboys, was not viewed as one of their most significant offseason additions. While it was clear Durant was a solid contributor, he was not seen as capable of making the same impact as guys like Rashan Gary and Jalen Thompson.
Granted, we are only a week into training camp, but through six practices in Oxnard, Durant has looked as good as any player on Dallas' defense. The former Los Angeles Ram has put together multiple impressive showings and has many believing he can make a real impact as a starting-caliber corner in the Cowboys' secondary.
There's reason to believe Durant is capable of carrying this level of play into the regular season. While the former fourth-round pick was never the focal point of the Rams' defense, he was an above-average contributor during his time in Los Angeles. In 2025, Durant had the best playmaking season of his four-year NFL career. The 27-year-old finished the season with an extremely impressive six interceptions (regular-season + postseason) to go with a career-high six PBUs and a respectable 79.2 passer rating against.

Bloom Energy (NYSE: BE) has lost about 37% of its value since hitting an all-time high just a few weeks ago. It was trading at around $345 a share then -- and it's at about $218 now.
Normally, a steep decline of that caliber would tell you something went wrong with Bloom's business. In the case of the hydrogen stock, however, the opposite is the case.

Indeed, the company's most recent earnings report was arguably its strongest yet. Bloom raked in over $1 billion in revenue, marking its first billion-dollar quarter in company history, and both margins and profitability improved significantly. To top it off, management raised 2026 revenue guidance (again) into the range of $3.9 billion to $4.2 billion.

By now, the mere idea of Jaylen Brown joining the Philadelphia 76ers is well-entrenched. It was probably even more solidified by LeBron James deciding to "take his talents" to Philadelphia to form one of the NBA's best rosters, especially with its core of Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, Brown, and James.
For Brown, in particular, though, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows the moment he learned he was leaving the Boston Celtics.
During his introductory press conference with the 76ers on Thursday, Brown revealed his initial reaction to the Celtics trading him. He said he threw his phone across the room as soon as he saw the notification confirming the news. And honestly? I get it! Brown cut his teeth with the Celtics in a decade-plus with one of the NBA's premier organizations. He became an All-NBA-caliber player in Boston. He won a championship in Boston, where he was also named 2024 NBA Finals MVP.
Knowing you're leaving all of that personal and team history behind at once can't be easy to process so quickly:
Of course, Brown seems eager to get after it with the 76ers now. But that's probably because he's had about a month to digest the news and start adjusting to his new professional reality. In the moment, you'd forgive him for lashing out a little bit in the privacy of his own home. It's something we'd likely all do if we were in his shoes.

The Tennessee ******* ans were back out there bright and early on Aug. 6, getting in a practice before the following night's fan scrimmage at Nissan Stadium. Here's a few thoughts from the sideline:
Second-year receiver Elic Ayomanor has been one of the clear standouts of the early days of ******* ans training camp.
So, of course, Ayomanor was injured during a red-zone drill, going for a pass in the corner of the end zone between the coverage of Alontae Taylor and an arriving Kevin Winston Jr.
Ayomanor appeared to be knocked to the ground by Winston and hurt his shoulder. ******* ans coach Robert Saleh said afterward that the shoulder "feels stable" but there was more the team needed to check. Saleh didn't fault the physicality of a "bang, bang" play and complemented Winston for his "range" in getting there. (Winston ended up with the ball in his hands. He intercepted the pass, but evidently he hadn't stayed inbounds).
I did see Winston later walk behind the end zone all the way to the offensive sideline, and I'd presume that he was checking on Ayomanor, his fellow rookie from last season.

The Chicago Bears were back for the eighth practice of training camp on Thursday, which was their third padded workout of the week.
The Bears were back in pads after a day in shells, and the intensity was really cranked up another level, where things got chippy and feisty between the offense and defense. Unfortunately, the biggest storyline of the day was the injuries. After losing safety Coby Bryant earlier this week, defensive end Montez Sweat and left tackle Braxton Jones were among the four players injured. The good news is Sweat and Jones' injuries don't look to be significant. There were also some notable standout players during Thursday's workout while the offense finally found success in the two-minute drill.
Here's what we learned from the eighth practice of training camp:
Thursday's practice might've been the most physical yet this summer. According to Brad Biggs, the "intensity has been turned up a couple levels," noting the 9-on-7 run drill was "feisty." Adam Jahns added that it was a "chippy" practice where there was "lots of shoving. A couple skirmishes." According to Patrick Finley, things were so physical that, at one point, linebacker D'Marco Jackson needed a new facemask. That intensity was notable during the 9-on-7 run drill, which Courtney Cronin praised. "The physicality is at its peak this morning. Team periods opened with 9 on 7 run drills. Cannot remember the last time I saw the Bears rep this drill. Old school football."
The story of the day were the multiple injuries sustained during Thursday's padded practice, which was the most intense of the summer so far. But the most notable injuries came to defensive end Montez Sweat and left tackle Braxton Jones. Jones exited practice after 1-on-1 drills, per Zack Pearson, where he had been battling Austin Booker. "He and Austin Booker were still going after the whistle in the drill. He was talking to the trainers. Slammed his helmet down after both reps against Austin Booker." Jones did walk off under his own power, and Clay Harbor noted that Jones "appears to have avoided a serious injury." Later, Sweat appeared to injure himself after a team period, per Kevin Fishbain, where "Sweat seemed to slow up during a rep in 11 on 11 and took himself off the field."

The Atlanta Falcons' front office cut it close, but they got the last major order of business done just before the start of the preseason next week. That would be the massive contract extension they gave to running back Bijan Robinson, with his new three-year, $66.75 million deal making him the league's highest paid player at his position.
After getting his fifth-year option picked up, Robinson still had two years left on his former contract when he signed the new deal - a rarity around the NFL even for a player of Robinson's caliber.
For his part, Bijan says he will never forget the faith the Falcons showed in him, per Josh Kendall at The Athletic.
"I think it's kind of rare to do a running back deal two years early, so for them to do that is something I will never forget," Robinson said. "It's a testament to the faith they have in me, and I think that's pretty cool."
Fellow players, fans and coaches have been sharing their reactions to the deal ever since - but Robinson told Kendall that the first person to text him congratulations was actor and Texas Longhorns superfan Matthew McConaughey.

Draymond Green's contract allows Warriors to trade for Trey Murphy originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The problem for the Golden State Warriors is that they simply don't have enough ******* ets to really make that all-in trade. Not that the Warriors don't have some first-round picks they can move on from, but there's a limited amount of talent on their roster right now to suggest that they can really put themselves in a good position to make a trade for one of the best players in the NBA.
That's an unfortunate part that the Warriors are currently dealing with, though there's one situation that's being viewed as a potential option with Draymond Green. After Green got his new contract, and with the Warriors having three tradable first-round picks, it's possible they could be looking at somebody like Trey Murphy of the New Orleans Pelicans.
"Now, it is a longshot that the Warriors would trade Green this season, though they do have three tradeable first-round picks that they could package, and Green's contract is hefty enough that it could bring back a star-caliber player (Trey Murphy of the Pelicans comes to mind).
"But, as a player, Green does not have as much value to other teams as he does to the Warriors, where he has teamed with Curry and coach Steve Kerr for 12 years," Sean Deveney wrote.

Mikel Arteta is at the Emirates Stadium with the Gunners. Galatasaray are actively preparing contingency plans in the transfer market, with ***** nal winger Gabriel Martinelli emerging as their top alternative should the Turkish champions fail to land AC Milan star Rafael Leao, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Istanbul club have made signing a marquee left-sided attacker a central priority for manager Okan Buruk this summer. While Galatasaray remain firmly in the race for Leao, negotiations have become increasingly complex due to intense competition from rivals Fenerbahce and AC Milan's strict €50m valuation.
Martinelli, who is a 'real threat in front of goal', has moved to the top of Galatasaray's shortlist as a high-calibre alternative. The Brazil international faces an uncertain future in North London, with ***** nal seeking a marquee left winger.
Galatasaray intermediaries have begun preliminary enquiries regarding Martinelli's willingness to move to Super Lig football. While ***** nal are not actively pushing the winger out, the club's hierarchy could be open to substantial offers.

Former Celtics Champion Thinks Jaylen Brown Trade Could Stain Boston Forever originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Kendrick Perkins thinks the Boston Celtics might never recover from the Jaylen Brown trade.
The former Celtics champion shared more of his thoughts on the blockbuster deal on ESPN's "NBA Today." He's not alone in thinking the trade could age badly for the Celtics — NESN's Jake Mozarsky gave the franchise a D+ grade for it — but Perkins took it a step further, saying there's a chance it stains Boston "forever."
"This is going to be tied to them in the history of the NBA for the simple fact that not only did you trade an All-NBA caliber player to a rival team, but now you know that was the deciding factor in landing arguably the greatest player to ever play the game that is still playing at an All-NBA level that possibly could go out to win the championship," said Perkins.
"If the 76ers go on to win the NBA championship with LeBron James and Jaylen Brown, it will stain the Boston Celtics forever."

Juventus keep searching for the best possible solution between the sticks and are weighing some new ones. For instance, PSG could acquire Zion Suzuki from Parma and then loan him out to them for one season, they don't plan to make him an immediate starter, Fabrizio Romano reports (via SOSFanta).
The Ducali have rejected a couple of offers north of €30M. The UEFA Champions League champions are readying a potentially decisive rise. They won't arrive to €45/50M, but they are confident they will be able to strike a deal.
PSG and Juventus touched on the possibility of Suzuki moving to Turin temporarily to continue playing regularly during the Randal Kolo Muani talks. The goalkeeper isn't too enthused by the prospect of riding the bench. The decision is up to the Bianconeri.
Other than Guglielmo Vicario, the Old Lady has earmarked World Cup standout Orlando Gill. He plays at San Lorenzo and has a €8.6M release clause, TuttoSport informs. While he shone for Paraguay, he's emerged onto the scene relatively recently, and it'd be his first stint in Europe. Moreover, they have been offered Ederson from Jorge Mendes, TRT Spor informs (via MSN). The former Manchester City star could depart Fenerbahce due to some issues with the club.
While they have been fixated on a decorated goalie, they are actually well-positioned to roll the dice with a touted prospect, if he's not too pricey, as Mattia Perin is a rock-solid backup. They are surely making everything possible to make Vicario feel unwanted. A patch like adding him or Suzuki on loan wouldn't jibe with their great history at the position. Only going all-out for a top-shelf goalie next year would offset that.

KIRKLAND, Wash. – All the West Suburban 14-Under softball team needed was an opportunity.
And twice with two outs, they capitalized.
With timely hitting and strong pitching, West Suburban defeated Asia-Pacific (Bacolod City, Philippines) 2-0 Wednesday at the Junior League Softball World Series at Everest Park.
"We knew coming in it was going to be a tight game," West Suburban manager Rick Roberts said. "... We grinded out enough at-bats to get it done."
The East Region representative out of Johnstown will face Hudsonville, Michigan, the winner of the Central Region, at 7 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals. West Suburban's lone loss was to the West Region (Palo Cedro, California) by a 2-0 decision Monday.
