The Southwest faces a barrage of intense rain this week as rounds of storms are tapping into unusually moisture-rich air being pulled north from Baja California, after flash flooding in New Mexico killed three people early Wednesday.
Officers responded at around 12:30 a.m. local time to a report of three people washed away by flooding near Newcomb, New Mexico, on the Navajo Nation. Police discovered two adults and one juvenile on scene, the Navajo Police Department said in a statement. All three were ****** ounced dead. The department declined to provide further details about the deaths when contacted by CNN, citing concern for the family’s privacy.

Navajo Stirling took a big step up in competition earlier today (Sat., Aug. 1, 2026) at UFC Belgrade LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Belgrade Arena in Belgrade, Serbia, stunning former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz with a blistering first-round TKO (elbows and punches). It was the ninth first-round finish on UFC Belgrade's card, which set a new promotional record.
Stirling accepted this fight on short notice, but still came into Saturday's co-main event as a sizeable betting favorite against a former UFC champion. The young light heavyweight contender has looked good over his first five trips to the canvas so most thought he'd be able to level up and take care of business. Others had faith in Blachowicz to gut check Stirling and prove he's the better fighter at 43 years of age.
While Blachowicz found some success early on this fight was all about Stirling. The talented 205-pound fighter was crisp from the outside and it eventually led to a massive right hand that clipped Blachowicz directly on the chin. The former UFC champion fell to the canvas where Stirling finished the fight with nasty elbows and punches to extend his undefeated record to 11-0.

Blachowciz pressed forward and was met with leg kicks. Stirling slipped but quickly got back to his feet. They clinched and worked for position along the cage. Blachowicz connected with a short right hand in the pocket. Stirling quickly tied him up. They separated and Stirling landed a clean right hand that knocked Blachowicz down. Stirling followed him to the canvas and hammered away with punches. Blachowicz was cut. Stirling continued to land punches. The referee stepped in to stop it.

However, those plans changedwhen Guskov was offered the UFC Abu Dhabi main event spot against MagomedAnkalaev following KhalilRountree's withdrawal.
As such, Blachowicz (29-11-2) will now square off against NavajoStirling in the new co-main event in Belgrade and the Polishveteran is unfazed by the change.
After Guskov accepted the short-notice bout against Ankalaev,Blachowicz was paired with Stirling. The former champion insistslittle has changed in his preparation.

After Chimaev suffered the first loss of his professional career,the hype surrounding the former Ultimate Fighting Championship champion has dampened. Stirlingrecently called him a "one-trick pony" and wants Chimaev to move upto light heavyweight so they can fight.
While Stirling acknowledges that Chimaev would bring much attentionto the 205-pound division, the unbeaten Kiwi wants to expose how"Borz" isn't a well-rounded fighter.
"I think he's a bit of a one-trick pony," Stirling told Full SendMMA. "I would love to fight him. I want to test my theory againstsomeone like that. I would love for some bigger names to come tothe division that could bring some hype."
Chimaev was undefeated and a massive betting favorite going intohis first middleweight ***** le defense against SeanStrickland at UFC 328 this past May. However, he visibly gassed out after afailed takedown attempt in the second round and completelyabandoned his wrestling thereafter.
Strickland then out-landed Chimaev on the feet en route to amassive upset win via split decision. However, the Brazilian's nerves got the betterof him right before stepping out for his bout and he allegedlystarted crying backstage, even ripping off his hand wraps multipletimes.

Octagon veteran Ion Cutelaba faced undefeated Navajo Stirling in Saturday's UFC Vegas 119 co-main event at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas.
Cutelaba made the walk to the octagon coming off a submission win over Oumar Sy in his last outing in March. He had won four of his last five fights and looked to build on the momentum. Stirling entered the fight having never tasted defeat in his nine-fight career.
Cutelaba moved forward and missed with a huge right hand. They clinched and worked for position along the cage. Cutelaba applied a guillotine choke. He pulled Stirling to the ground and mounted him. Stirling escaped and worked his way back to his feet but they remained in the clinch. Cutelaba tripped Stirling back to the ground but he quickly got to his feet and separated. Stirling connected with his right hand. Cutelaba pressed forward with punches but came up short. Midway through the round they were in the clinch along the cage. They changed positions a few times before Cutelaba tripped Stirling to the canvas. Stirling got to his feet but ate a short elbow. Stirling went to the body with a hard right hand. Cutelaba answered with a left hook. The round ended with the fighters in the clinch. MMAWeekly scored the round 10-9 for Cutelaba.
Cutelaba came out in the second using leg kicks. Cutelaba pressured Stirling. He connected with a right hand but Stirling responded with an elbow. Stirling stepped in the pocket with a left hook. He looked to get the fight to the ground. He secured a takedown but Cutelaba quickly got to this feet and applied a kimura. Stirling got his arm free but Cutelaba connected with punches as Stirling worked to stand. Cutelaba drug Stirling to the ground but Stirling immediate stood and separated. Cutelaba was against the fence and not defending himself. The referee stepped in to stop it.

While there were plenty of back-and-forth exchanges, Stirling eventually overwhelmed Cutelaba after trapping him against the cage where he just started unloading punches in succession. With Cutelaba just covering up and doing nothing but covering his head, Stirling unleashed a few nasty elbows that gave the referee no choice but to stop the fight with the end coming at 3:23 in the second round.
“I told everyone that I was the next big thing,” Stirling said after his latest win. “They can come fraud check these nuts because I’m the real deal. I can scramble my ***** off. I know no matter what, I’m not afraid to get taken down because I’m going to get back up. I wrestle all the time so I had to show everyone.
“The division’s all over the place, I don’t care whoever it is. Maybe October next. Anyone.”

Last week was weird because of the bonkers White House card. Things are back to normal now. That means largely forgettable fights with unrecognizable fighters at the UFC APEX.
