This weekend marks a solemn anniversary in our nation's history. 25 years ago on September 11, 2001, the United States was attacked by terrorists that hijacked commercial airlines and flew them into both towers of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. On Saturday, both the Texas Longhorns and Ohio State Buckeyes will honor that tragedy on their helmets.
It has been called this generation's Pearl Harbor. 9/11 is a day that everyone remembers exactly what they were doing when they found out America had been attacked. 2,977 died as a result of the terrorist attacks. The Williams F1 team's special livery for the Spanish GP weekend has raised some eyebrows on social media, considering the colours it is running that had links with the Bin Laden family.
Williams showed its special livery for the F1 Spanish GP at Madring, going back in time to use the colours that they ran aboard the FW07, which was driven in various versions between the 1979 and 1982 F1 seasons. They modelled the colour used in the 1981 Spanish GP – the FW07C.
They raced at the Jarama circuit, with the car driven by Alan Jones and Carlos Reutemann. The colour was linked to sponsorship from Saudi Arabia's Saudia Airlines and Albilad. Having started its journey in 1977 in Formula 1, Williams got sponsorship from the Middle East first in the 1978 F1 season.
The team ran as Albilad-Saudia Racing Team in 1979, which continued through to 1981. In the 1980 and 1981 seasons, they had one car with the Albilad Williams Racing Team name, while the second car ran under a different sponsor. During a September 8 episode of Mad Money, Jim Cramer examined the broader aerospace ecosystem following GE Aerospace's (NYSE:GE) nearly $12 billion agreement to acquire castings specialist Consolidated Precision Products (CPP). Commenting on the strategic importance of supply chain control and the enduring strength of commercial and defense aviation despite rising oil prices, Cramer stated:
I still believe in the data center, but I also want to open your eyes to other opportunities. This morning, for example, GE Aerospace spent nearly $12 billion to buy a castings company called Consolidated Precision Products to integrate this key segment into its supply chain. It's vital for both commercial aircraft and particularly defense, both of which are booming. Now, on a day where oil's up, you might not want to focus on anything airline related, but travel's been booming the whole time, the whole time the Iranian war's been going on. This acquisition will pay off quickly for GE, making it more likely that they can accelerate production. This is also good news, therefore, for Boeing, a huge customer of GE that needs to boost its production speed.
GE is relatively close to its highs, deservedly so. Boeing? Nowhere near its high. Yet the order book is full. Last week, there was this negative article about how Boeing is being hurt by the problem-filled Spirit AeroSystems acquisition. It made that one two years ago. But that actually had to be done because Boeing, like GE Aerospace, needs to get better control of its supply chain. Aha, you say, who needs that kind of problem? Boeing just reported its slowest deliveries in 4 months. I come back and say, wait a second. First, the problems from the Spirit deal are now behind them. You know what? The story is actually old news.
Plus, CEO Kelly Ortberg has made it clear that orders would be lumpy. I knew that. And look, I know the high price of oil, particularly jet fuel, is bad news for the airlines. But the higher price of fuel also makes these new engines and airplanes far more valuable than before. Why? They're way more energy efficient. It's a good situation that has nothing to do with the data center. It does require more, better tech that AI can help with.
GE Aerospace (NYSE:GE) and The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) represent two distinct pillars of the aerospace manufacturing ecosystem, operating at massive commercial scale. GE Aerospace reported second-quarter revenue of $13.3 billion, up 21% year-over-year, driven by strong commercial engine services and record internal shop visit output. Its total order backlog extends past $210 billion, supported by sustained airline demand for propulsion systems and aftermarket maintenance.

A month later, COVID hit and the corporate bond cratered to 27 cents on the dollar while the EETC held at 65 cents. Same company, wildly different outcomes because Wall Street desks looked at each instrument in isolation instead of comparing across the capital stack. That's the whole Aristotle Pacific thesis, and it's why he sees the same mispricing setting up today in data center financing.

Liverpool have signed a "milestone" new shirt sponsorship deal with Turkish Airlines, understood to be worth more than £60million ($81.2 million) a year.
The company, which has signed a five-year contract, becomes only the sixth in the club's history to have its name on the front of the shirt.
Liverpool believe it could be the most lucrative deal in Premier League history, although Manchester United's agreement with Snapdragon is claimed to be worth a similar amount.

CNBC reported that American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ:AAL) announced seven new international routes for its summer 2027 schedule, most flown on its Airbus A321XLR.
New destinations include Philadelphia to Porto and Vienna and JFK to Amsterdam and Nice, alongside a returning Reykjavik route and Charlotte-Barcelona and Chicago-Tokyo Narita service on widebody jets. American's SVP of network and schedule planning, Brian Znotins, said the XLR "really opens up the menu for all these destinations that are just too small for a widebody." The announcement came the same week that rival United Airlines, which flies more international routes than any other U.S. carrier, unveiled its own 2027 international additions. American has said its flying is split roughly 80% domestic and 20% international.
The XLR gives American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ:AAL) a more flexible way to expand its international network. The smaller, long-range aircraft lets American serve thinner transatlantic markets without committing the capacity of a larger widebody jet. That flexibility opens opportunities such as Philadelphia-Vienna and Philadelphia-Porto and gives American another way to grow international revenue.

Federal regulators said the two crew members aboard the Amazon cargo jet that crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday survived the accident.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) provided the update during a Sunday press conference after officials said the cargo plane overran the runway and caught fire while landing. The crash killed five people and injured five others, authorities said Sunday.
The jet collided with two vehicles carrying at least eight occupants, according to NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy.

JetBlue Airways (JBLU) is heading into a more significant phase of its comeback without one of the activist investors who helped alter its board.
Carl Icahn sharply cut his JetBlue position, selling roughly 8.13 million shares for about $40.4 million between Aug. 17 and Aug. 20, regulatory filings show. The transactions reduced the Icahn Group's interest to around 3.32%, or about 12.5 million shares, from over 10% when the activist investor initially revealed his position in 2024.
That's more than some spring cleaning.
Icahn's smaller stake fell below the amount needed to retain board presence at JetBlue. Jesse Lynn and Steven Miller, directors supported by Icahn, resigned both effective Aug. 24 after the group's ownership fell below the appropriate level, the airline said in an Aug. 27 filing with the SEC.
It is interesting timing for investors. JetBlue is aiming to show that its JetForward turnaround will restore sustainable profitability after years of strategic missteps, excessive expenses, and a failed attempt to combine with Spirit Airlines.

Ryanair, the biggest low-fare airline in Europe, on Wednesday lowered its winter traffic target to reduce exposure to high unhedged oil prices, and warned the some of its less well-hedged competitors could struggle to survive this winter amid high fuel costs.
Since the Iran war slashed deliveries of crude oil and petroleum products from the Middle East, rising jet fuel prices have eaten into the profitability of all airlines globally.
Ryanair is one of the most hedged airlines, with about 80% of fuel costs hedged at $67 per barrel. However, the remaining unhedged 20% is highly exposed to the jet fuel prices currently trading at about $140 per barrel, Ryanair said in its August 2026 traffic stats.
In light of the high unhedged oil prices, "it is sensible to strategically reduce the Group's exposure to unhedged jet fuel during the unprofitable winter schedule (from Nov. to Mar.)," the budget airline said.

Since the Iran war slashed deliveries of crude oil and petroleum products from the Middle East, rising jet fuel prices have eaten into the profitability of all airlines globally.
Ryanair is one of the most hedged airlines, with about 80% of fuel costs hedged at $67 per barrel. However, the remaining unhedged 20% is highly exposed to the jet fuel prices currently trading at about $140 per barrel, Ryanair said in its August 2026 traffic stats.
In light of the high unhedged oil prices, "it is sensible to strategically reduce the Group's exposure to unhedged jet fuel during the unprofitable winter schedule (from Nov. to Mar.)," the budget airline said.

All but one player saw the court during the season-opening Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic last week in which Hawaii went 1-2 to open the Walker era.
Nine of the 15 players on the roster played in at least 10 of the opening 12 sets in which UH defeated Georgia Southern and took then-No. 21 Baylor to five before getting swept by San Diego on Sunday.
Senior Tali Hakas was one of six players to play in all 12 sets. She did not start in Sunday's loss to the Toreros but was summoned off the bench quickly when the Rainbow Wahine got off to a poor start.

The Dallas Mavericks are expected to have Kyrie Irving back after he missed the entire 2025-26 campaign because of a torn ACL, and Dirk Nowitzki is among those excited to see the 34-year-old guard again soon.
In a recent interview with WFAA's Joe Trahan, Nowitzki strongly believes Irving's return will address the Dallas Mavericks' Achilles heel last season – the point guard position. The one-time NBA champion is also interested in how Irving will play alongside franchise cornerstone Cooper Flagg.

When Spirit Airlines collapsed into bankruptcy, the headlines focused on grounded planes and stranded passengers. But the most consequential part of Spirit's liquidation was invisible: the sale of its trade‑secret dataset; decades of operational intelligence, human decision‑making patterns, proprietary algorithms, and workflow histories sold to Google for just $10 million. The real value is at least 10x by any reasonable measure OTHER than what they sold for in a time of liquidation. I would argue that Spirit could and should have had those **** ets valued and kept a running tally long before bankruptcy and, in fact, as a matter of diligence.
Court filings show Google acquired more than 100 million internal emails, 500 million Teams messages, 7.5 billion de‑identified passenger records, 7.2 billion competitor pricing observations, and 30 million lines of code during the bankruptcy auction. These were not mere "data." They were (assuming they were actually owned by Spirit and protected properly) Spirit's trade secrets—the accumulated operational knowledge of a 17,000‑employee enterprise.
And Spirit was forced to let them go for pennies.
This should alarm every CEO, board member, investor, and lender. Spirit's failure wasn't the auction, though they should have been able to attract many more bidders than the two that participated. It was the years preceding it. From all appearances, the airline never formally inventoried its trade secrets, never valued them, may or may not ever have protected them with proper rigor, and never insured them. When the crisis came, Spirit had no idea what it owned or what it was worth.

Starting next year, some passengers flying internationally on a new United Airlines aircraft will have the option to book a seat with extra ****** e after the airline custom-designed seats to block some middle seats in its Economy Plus section.
"For some customers that want to pay a little bit more -- not as much as sitting up front -- but pay a little bit more to get more ****** e, it's a great opportunity," United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby said Tuesday in an interview with ABC News.
United first teased the new seating option in July and formally unveiled it Tuesday, as part of its announcement of 10 new routes to destinations across Europe and Asia. Some of the flights will operate on United's new single aisle A321XLR aircraft. The airline is touting it as the largest expansion in United's history.

"On each XLR, one row will have large, custom-designed tables stretching from armrest to armrest across the open middle seats, giving customers sitting in the window or aisle seat extra ****** e to stretch out on longer international flights," United said in a press release in July.
