LOS ANGELES (AP) — Defensive end Myles Garrett was held out of the Los Angeles Rams' joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday, while wide receiver Puka Nacua left the workout early because of an apparent injury.
Sean McVay said Garrett did not participate as a precaution because of swelling in his knee, which has the two-time AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year who was acquired in a blockbuster trade in June feeling 85% healthy, according to his new head coach. Garrett missed time earlier in training camp because of what McVay described as lower body soreness.
The Rams are still learning how to manage Garrett's workload in practice. The Cleveland Browns limited reps for Garrett later on in his tenure, allowing him to play in 83 of a possible 85 games over his final five seasons there.
"I don't know what 100% is going to look like, but it must be pretty good if that's 85%," McVay said. "He's so tough, he wanted to be able to be out there. ... There's nothing to be concerned about. It was just kind of us erring on the side of caution. There wasn't any setbacks, anything like that."
Nacua came out of practice accompanied by team trainers, but McVay did not have an update on what happened to his No. 1 receiver who had 129 receptions for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.

Skubal gave up four hits and three earned runs, while striking out six, in five innings and 95 pitches on Monday night. Half of those hits were from Kansas City star Jac Caglianone, who helped power the Royals to an early lead in the outing.

The latter of the aforementioned trio was spotted during an off-season pick-up game at the annual Rico Hines Runs, as reported by ESPN's Dave McMenamin. Hines has been an ***** istant coach with the Sixers for several seasons at this point, and his scrimmages have become a staple of the offseason for that time period.
Given that Hines is a member of Philadelphia's coaching staff, it's no surprise that there were multiple other members of the Sixers, as V.J. But it's not a deal I would have made," Walder writes. "... But even if 2024 was a blip, Ward's age and the team's contractual control make this deal an unforced error."

Prior to that, Brown addressed a question about whether he and Tatum wanted to continue their partnership over the past year and gave a straightforward response.
"Um, you know, we won a championship together, so anybody that you win a championship [with], you would think that's what a brotherhood or a lifelong legacy would entail," Brown responded. "Obviously, there's ups and downs in any type of relationship, for sure. But on my end, it's nothing but respect. Besides when he plays the Sixers, I hope he does well. But other than that, everything for me is just based in respect."

Wide receiver Dallas Wilson is one of the most exciting players on Florida's roster. The second-year pass catcher spoke to reporters on Tuesday after Florida's pre-fall camp press conference and touched on the renewed energy in the building.
Wilson said he was excited to play in a diverse offense under coordinator Buster Faulkner and addressed the bond developed amongst the players over the offseason. He also reflected on his injury issues last season and how it helped him grow as a person.
A dynamic personality, Wilson wasn't shy about sharing the fun the players are having within the receivers room. Challenging one another and competing with the defensive backs make for a positive environment, one that's helped develop that aforementioned bond.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Jaylen Waddle expressed his appreciation for how his new teammates and fans have quickly embraced him at training camp earlier this week.
"The Broncos fans are great," Waddle said after Tuesday's practice session. "Just coming out here and just taking time out the middle of the day during a work week to come out here and just see us compete against each other is great. It's packed every day. It's great. They're very loud, and we can hear them and they give us energy."
Waddle came to Denver in a blockbuster trade from the Miami Dolphins this spring, and quickly integrated himself with his new teammates. Quarterback Bo Nix took Waddle out to dinner his first night in town, and Waddle was seen with former college roommate Pat Surtain several times this offseason.
Multiple teammates also celebrated Waddle's arrival. Left tackle Garett Bolles spoke on the phone with Waddle, and offensive lineman Quinn Meinerz celebrated a bowling strike with Waddle's signature touchdown dance. For his part, Waddle calls the team "a big family."
"They welcomed me with open arms since Day 1," Waddle said. "I kind of grew to (know) not just Pat, but my receiver group, and the defense and everyone. It's like a big family here. It just makes it easy to come to work. It makes it easy to come to work, go out there and compete in front of the fans on days like this."
