EAST RUTHERFORD - John Harbaugh is not thinking solely about tomorrow. Or the next day.
Just about everything his New York Giants do on the practice fields and in the meeting rooms, initially at The Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia and now home for training camp, has had a singular focus: being ready for the Dallas Cowboys in their Week 1 "Sunday Night Football" showdown.
The offseason program was not necessarily about competition, more so technique and **** ignments.
Training camp is about getting ready for the real thing to the slightest detail in preparation and performance.
"We're chasing execution," Harbaugh said. "We're chasing execution. We're at a stage now, we're getting ready for the games. I mean, that's what practice is for. We're not here to practice. It's not a training camp exercise. We're here to prepare for the games that we're going to play. What plays we call, how we practice, all those things. We're not just running plays out here to run plays."

(AP) — Kyler Murray led a drive that ended in a field goal in his first game action since being named Minnesota's starting quarterback, New York's Jaxson Dart threw for a touchdown after passing a concussion test and the Vikings beat the Giants 13-10 in each team's preseason opener on Saturday.
Murray completed two of his three passes for 10 yards as coach Kevin O'Connell played his first-team offense — minus top receiver Justin Jefferson — for just one series. J.J. McCarthy, the 10th pick in the 2024 draft who has been relegated to backup duty, struggled in his first possession before settling in to finish 4 of 7 for 34 yards.
In John Harbaugh's first time on the sideline as Giants coach, Dart was sacked twice on six drop-backs, the second time getting crushed by Vikings safety Jay Ward. Dart was escorted to the blue medical tent to be evaluated for a concussion, then returned two snaps later to complete a 15-yard TD pass to rookie Malachi Fields on the second-year QB's final play of the game.
Dart was 3 of 4 for 26 yards.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Jaxson Dart received yet another concussion check in Saturday's 13-10 Giants preseason opening loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
The second-year quarterback fortunately cleared the protocol, returned to the game and threw a touchdown pass to rookie receiver Malachi Fields.
But it is beyond concerning that Dart's penchant for visiting the blue medical tent as a rookie bled right into his first game action since January. Even though Dart pushed back on being sent to the blue tent at all.
"As far as the blue tent," Dart said, "I really respect the rules and the thought the NFL has about keeping players healthy and reviewing things. But at the same time, I'm still puzzled by it just feeling like every time I get hit, I find my way in there, which at times I still try to wrap my head around.
"But that's all I'm gonna say about that situation," he added. "I'm really happy how the drive ended."

Braxton Berrios — I will just come out and say it. If Berrios gets through the preseason healthy, he is making the roster. Berrios was the first punt returner and was on the first kickoff return group with Deonte Banks. He had two 15-yard punt returns and caught a pass for 9 yards.
Darius Alexander — The second-year player was a better pass rusher than run defender as a rookie. Saturday, things looked the same. Alexander had a sack, a tackle for loss, and a quarterback hit.
Chauncey Golston — The versatile backup edge defender/defensive end had a tackle for loss and two quarterback hits in limited action.

EAST RUTHERFORD – There was no grand announcement when he stepped on the field. With a little over six minutes left in the first half of the Giants' preseason-opening, 13-10 loss to the Vikings, Odell Beckham Jr. simply trotted on with the second team and took his place on the far side.
He couldn't hide, though. It wasn't long before those at MetLife Stadium noticed. And once they did, they let the wideout know how they felt about him being back.
"Time to play ball," said Beckham. "It's a blessing to be out there."
The loudest ovation of the afternoon was that for Beckham – who spent the first five years of his career with New York, who drafted him 12th overall in 2014. The now 33-year-old was elite for New York. Injuries then derailed his career as the years dragged on.
He last played a game in December of 2024. He last had 50-plus yards in a game in December of 2023. He last played for the Giants in December of 2018. Now here he is, in August of 2026, trying to make the Giants' 53-man roster.

EAST RUTHERFORD - The last time Odell Beckham Jr. was inside MetLife Stadium in a Giants uniform, the star wide receiver caught a touchdown pass from Eli Manning and threw one, too.
That was in December 2018 when the Giants upset the Chicago Bears in overtime, and Beckham, the most popular player on the team, was traded to Cleveland months later.
Now he's back in the building and the headliner going into Saturday's preseason opener for the Giants against the Minnesota Vikings in what represents the first game, albeit an exhibition, for John Harbaugh as their head coach.
Beckham is expected to play in his first game action in nearly two seasons, while Jaxson Dart and most of the starting offense should be on the field, at least for a series.
The Giants spent the first 12 days of training camp at The Greenbrier Resort some 475 miles away, and Harbaugh believes they came away a better team than when they started. There is still just under a month from real action when the Dallas Cowboys visit the Meadowlands in Week 1 in prime time on Sunday, Sept. 13.

All six Bay County football programs will take the field for their first live-action games ahead of the 2026 season, giving teams an opportunity to shake off the rust and get an early look at what they have been working on during the offseason.

New York Giants fullback Patrick Ricard left little doubt about the identity head coach John Harbaugh is installing in East Rutherford.
Appearing on NFL Network's Inside Training Camp Live, the veteran lead blocker said the message was clear from the moment Harbaugh recruited him.
"You know, when Harbaugh was recruiting me to come up here, he told me that he's building a bully in New York, and I think that's exactly what we're trying to do," Ricard said. "We're trying to be the bullies in this area. And if you come to MetLife Stadium, you're gonna get bullied, and that's exactly what we want to be."
Ricard spent his entire previous career with the Baltimore Ravens under Harbaugh before signing with the Giants this offseason. The coach's pitch about constructing a physical, imposing roster proved decisive. That same emphasis on toughness has been visible throughout training camp, where Ricard and other newcomers have set a more violent tone in the trenches and on the edges.

EAST RUTHERFORD - Jaxson Dart faked the handoff and rolled the other way on a naked bootleg, nothing but green grass between him and the first-down marker on a third-and-5 play during team drills.
"Critical situations" is how Giants coach John Harbaugh termed it, and all Dart did was what he was supposed to do.
The Giants' quarterback got the first down and immediately went down, smoothly sliding feet-first while staying in bounds, essentially ending the game in that scenario.
You would've thought Dart scored the game-winning touchdown on opening night against the Cowboys the way the sideline erupted in delight. Was it a Bronx cheer of sorts? Perhaps not dripping with as much sarcasm, mind you, but the point was the same: the moment itself was appreciated by all.
"I clapped. I applauded," Harbaugh said with a laugh, clapping again for effect in his post-practice news conference Monday. "I applauded when [Dart] did that. It was great."

Aug 10 (Reuters) - Charl Schwartzel found an unusual hazard in ‌the final round at ‌LIV Golf Bedminster on Sunday when a fish appeared to swallow his ball after it rolled into the water beside the seventh ‌green.
The South African's ⁠tee shot at the 134-yard, par-three hole rolled ⁠off the putting surface and settled in the pond, where TV footage showed the ball being ******* ed ‌from beneath the water.
"Have you ever seen anything like this?" LIV Golf wrote in a social media post accompanying video ‌of the incident.

Per the NFL transaction wire, defensive back J.T. Woods visited the team on Sunday. Woods was part of an eight-player workout held by the Giants on Tuesday in West Virginia. Defensive backs David Long and D.J. James, along with offensive lineman Brandon Jaimes, have all been signed by the team after that workout.
A third-round pick by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022, Woods played in 13 games for the Chargers over two seasons. He has not played in an NFL game the past two seasons. During that time, he has been on the practice squads of the Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks, Las Vegas Raiders, and New York Jets.

With the confetti from the last World Cup barely cleared from the pitch, FIFA has found itself at the center of another controversy. This time the dispute isn't about where the World Cup will be played, who qualified for the tournament, or whether a particular red card was appropriate.
Instead, the fight is over ownership.
Earlier this week, FIFA announced plans to create a new commercial entity, FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), that would manage the commercial operations of its main competitions, including the men's and women's World Cups. FIFA would then sell a 21% interest in that company to outside investors. According to FIFA, each member ****** ociation could receive up to $20 million in immediate funding for special projects, in addition to $20 million in FIFA Forward funding for the 2027–2030 cycle.

The New York Giants on Monday announced the extent of a massive renovation project at their East Rutherford, N.J. headquarters.
In a statement released by the team, the Giants say the renovations will "expand and transform their team headquarters, anchored by a new and modern football-focused facility designed to elevate player performance, preparation, and recovery."
Work began several months ago, and is expected to be completed in advance of the 2028 season.
"This is a significant investment in the future of our football operation," said Giants President and CEO John Mara in a statement released by the team. "We believe it is our responsibility to provide our players, coaches, and staff with the resources and environment they need to succeed. As the game continues to evolve, we must continue to evolve with it. This project reflects our commitment to our people and to building a foundation that will support the New York Giants for years to come."
The project will include approximately 93,500 square feet of new construction and 46,000 square feet of renovations.

Enzo Fernández had been sent off before extra time even started. Nahuel Molina reportedly took a swing at Rodri. FIFA has since appointed a prosecutor. That image, far more than the 1-0 scoreline, is what most of the planet took home from this final.

Argentina must have nine lives, right? Somehow, Argentina has found a way to survive at the last minute in just about every one of its 2026 FIFA World Cup matches. Yes, this style of play has had everyone on the edge of their seats. But how long can this style of play really last? So far, the drama has played superbly on TV (much to FOX and Telemundo's delight). But do the defending World Cup champions have one more in them to repeat yet again?
While Argentina, the Group J winner, has yet again reached the final, the road to Sunday's finale at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, hasn't been an easy one. Time and again, Argentina has been on the brink of elimination. Who will ever forget little-known Cape Verde nearly knocking off the defending champs when Argentina needed extra time in the Round of 32 before finally coming away with a 3-2 win.
The following round against Egypt in the Round of 16 welcomed ridicule against FIFA's officiating and conspiracy theories that the international football federation desperately wanted La Albiceleste to move on. The officiating was so suspicious that non-Argentina soccer fans started referring to Argentina simply as VARgentina, after VAR rulings lifted Argentina to a 3-2 win.
It seemed like Argentina's luck had finally run out in the quarterfinals against Switzerland, which came so, so close to forcing penalty kicks before Argentina bailed itself out in extra time — but only after Breel Embolo was given a red card. Pundits outside Argentina railed against the team because it barely survived against teams outside the top 15 world rankings. Those same pundits deduced that Argentina had finally met its match in the semifinal against an England team ranked fourth in the world.
England held a 1-0 lead and were merely minutes away from going to the final. But the Three Lions played it safe. Way too safe, some would argue, allowing Argentina to score two late goals to survive and advance.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Kylian Mbappé won't get a third consecutive trip to the World Cup final and remains tied for first with Argentina superstar Lionel Messi in the race for the Golden Boot four years after he won it.
The France striker couldn't generate many chances in his team's 2-0 loss to Spain in the World Cup semifinals on Tuesday.
Mbappé and Messi have eight goals each. Messi and defending champion Argentina will play again on Wednesday in the other semifinal match against England.
France will play the loser of that match in the third-place game on Saturday in Miami Gardens, Florida. Spain will take on the winner in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Mbappé had the fewest touches of any forward in the first half with 15. Perhaps his most prominent moment was trying to persuade referee Ivan Barton that the penalty resulting in Spain's first goal shouldn't have been called.

Spain has entered the scoring chat against France in Tuesday's World Cup semifinal match.
Mikel Oyarzabal gave Spain a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute on a penalty kick following a foul in the box against Lamine Yamal. The goal was Oyarzabal's fifth of the World Cup, which leads the side at the tournament.
The Real Sociedad club forward snapped a 358-minute scoreless streak from France, which previously hadn't allowed a goal since its 4-1 defeat of Norway in its group stage finale.
Should Spain beat France, it will head to the World Cup final against the winner of England-Argentina at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 19, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
